Two days after the call, Carlin’s chief editor agreed upon meeting them. That morning, Vanya and Kevin went together to Borderless Media where her best friend worked. As they arrived at the parking lot, Vasky had arrived there first. After parking his car, Kevin got out and followed the bespectacled man.

“Wow, you’re so early,” greeted Kevin, “Did you wait too long?”

“If you mean waiting for Carlin, yes it's quite a long time,” Vasky said and shook Kevin’s hand. “She should be here ten minutes ago, but here I am, still waiting.”

Just at the right moment, the building doors swung open, revealing Carlin to greet them. She apologized, “I’m sorry, we just finished a meeting. Please, follow me.”

“At last,” sneered Vasky which was immediately stopped as Kevin nudged his arm, asking him to be quiet.

The guests went inside the building and were led by Carlin to walk through a hallway. Vanya cleared her throat and opened the conversation, “So, have you talked about this with your chi

After meeting with the editor-in-chief of Borderless Media that day, the quartet made plans to head to Zimmerscheid next weekend. They gathered at a small cafe not too far from Carlin’s office and held a meeting there.‌"I happen to have free time tomorrow," said Kevin once when his team was having a discussion. He turned around to the remaining members and asked, “Besides Vanya, can you meet me tomorrow at my office?”‌“I can,” said Vasky with no hesitation. “When will it be?”‌“I don’t think I have free time tomorrow, Kevin,” replied Carlin in regret, “I still have some works to do and be finished before our leaving for Zimmerscheid.”‌“Ah, don’t worry.” smiled Vanya, trying to ease her best friend’s thought, “Finish your work first, Carlin. We'll let you know later when a decision has been made.”‌Vasky gave a relieved look and nonchalantly spoke his thought, “At last, we could have the discussion in peace.”‌Hearing the unwanted remark, Carlin immediately glared at Vasky. “W

“At last, Gregory,” Gustav opened the conversation as he held a glass of champagne in his raised hand. “You’ll only need a little more move to get rid of Kevin from Autoekomsten. Why don’t we celebrate this success.”‌“Ah, you’re so right, Gustav,” chortled Gregory as he cheered with the gray-haired man. After taking a sip of the champagne, he carried on by saying, “At first I didn't think that teaming up with my nephew's rival company could become the biggest weapon to overthrow his position in that company. This is for you too, Gustav. I owe you a lot.”‌“It’s not a big deal,” said Gustav as a smug smile was stretched on his pompous face. “You never told me before the reason why you wanted to bring Kevin down.”‌Gregory paused a moment, then said, “It’s kind of a long story, and this involves Johan, Kevin’s late father, and my brother.”‌Without being asked, Gregory disclosed everything, “After his death, I read the will he w

“What are you doing here, little girl?” growled Gregory with a sharp, piercing glare directed at Vanya. At first, Gustav didn’t recognize who Gregory was talking to. He then turned his face and was perplexed upon noticing it was the same girl who sold Autoekomsten’s blueprint to him months prior. Gustav soon realized that she might be eavesdropping on his conversation with the current influential man at Autoekomsten.“You…” Gustav hissed as he gave a death stare to the girl.Realizing she was caught red-handed by the two men, Vanya immediately grabbed her bag and rushed out of the restaurant, leaving the half-eaten egg bendict on the table.Gustav immediately stood up and was about to chase her who was paying the bills. To his surprise, Gregory held him back and stated, “Hold your horses, Gustav.”“No way, we have to come after her,” insisted the gray-haired man. Gustav could only stare intently at the yellow taxi that was now speeding away from where he stood. It was useless even though he ran after the four-wheeled vehicle Vanya was riding on. While catching his breath, the gray-haired man thought of another plan to catch the woman who had presumptuously eavesdropped on his secret conversation with Gregory.‌"Verdammt!" cursed Gustav while clenching his fists. He felt furious because the snake woman could escape so easily while carrying a very, very dangerous message if it reached the ears of her nemesis, Kevin. The man reached into his pocket and put a cigarette to his lips. He then struck his lighter and sucked in the opium deeply, trying to calm his frantic mind.‌Not far from where he stood, Gregory had just left the restaurant building after paying the bill for both of them. Plans to have lunch and negotiate about the continuation of their collusion at Autoekomsten were disrupted by the presence of someone who was not invited. Upon se

Niels wandered like a ghost through the dim-lit streets, his steps carrying him through the heart of the town's restlessness. The night was an unpredictable mistress, not yet whispering for him to retreat. With aimless determination, he found himself in the park, its shadows alive with people as forgotten as the stars in the city sky.‌He couldn't help but chuckle to himself, the sound lost in the murmur of the street. "One day, Niels, you'll have a VIP spot right here, eh?" he mumbled, his words a half-hearted jest.‌But the night has ears, and it seems the universe has a way of having the last laugh. A voice, worn and weathered by life's trials, floated back to him from the darkness. "Careful what you wish for, lad."‌Niels turned to see a figure, cloaked in tattered layers, rising from the shadows like a spirit conjured by his words. It was as if the very air held an electric charge, sparking with a challenge.‌The homeless man stepped closer, his eyes gleaming with an edge tha

“So... thanks, I guess?”‌Niels was still trying to grasp the situation he was in. First he was about to be devoured by the hobos. Lucky he was, on the nick of time, three men in suits came to his rescue. Or so it seemed.‌“No need to thank us, Niels. Just keep your piehole shut and get your ass into the car, buddy,” ordered one of them calmly, yet his voice full of intimidation. “Oh, and before you asked us the cliche of how we know your name, it’s none of your business.”‌Niels squinted at the suited trio, a mixture of defiance and amusement on his face. "And what if I ain't up for a midnight joyride with you gents?"‌The first man's eyebrow quirked up, his tone smooth as velvet. "Ah, but my dear friend, life's full of choices. Sometimes, we're just here to help you make the right ones."‌Niels let out a sardonic laugh, his words dripping with sarcasm. "Right ones? He leaned in slightly, his eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and cunning. "Ah, but my dear Niels, let's not be too hasty in dismissing the idea. After all, the world runs on incentives, doesn't it?"‌Niels' eyebrows shot up, his interest piqued despite his skepticism. "And what incentive are you proposing?"‌Gustav's gaze held his, unyielding and calculating. "A sum that could change your life forever. Enough money to wipe away all those debts that seem to be trailing you like a persistent shadow."‌Niels' lips twitched, a flicker of contemplation crossing his features. His mind raced through the labyrinth of his financial woes, the mounting debts that seemed to squeeze the life out of him.‌"Imagine, my friend," Gustav continued,
