After a lovely evening, it was strange to walk down the passage and stop in front of my room knowing I was marked, but we wouldn’t be sleeping in the same bed.

“This is weird. It’s weird, isn’t it?” Bernard blushed bright red as he pushed his hands deep into his pockets.

“It’s awkward, yes. It’s not what I envisioned. Not that I thought about us.” I quickly added, seeing the hurt in his eyes and sighed feeling guilty instantly. “Bernard, I haven’t rejected you because I wasn’t sure about my future. Which is the same reason I didn’t accept you either.”

“You don’t have to explain. I understand. I just wish things were different.” He opened his mouth as though he was about to say something but closed it again.
