Chapter 4
Cora's POV. “What is going on here?!" The Alpha's thunderous voice questioned as he marched towards us. The crowd saw it was the Alpha and they parted ways for him. The moment he reached the scene, his gaze landed on me who was still on the ground and then on Kieran. "Son?" The alpha called, "What is this about?" He inquired. I froze. My breath caught in my throat. Son? The man who had insulted me, pushed me, humiliated me was the alpha's son? My heart sank. It all made sense now. His accusations. His hatred towards my dad and my family. It all made sense now and I lost any hope I might have had. "Well... what's going on?" the alpha asked again, this time he directed his gaze on me, questioning me. "Actually, I... I... I'm pregnant and it's for him. He's the father of my child." I said my voice trembling with intense fear. Just as I said that the crowd erupted in loud noises and the look on the alpha's face darkened as it looked at his son in a disappointing manner. He scoffed, "Dad, she's lying. I don't even know her name. She's just some desperate whore trying to pin her pregnancy on me. I don't know where she got this ridiculous idea from but it's definitely not me, dad, believe me." "Are you sure, Son?" "Yes dad, she's just trying to cause a scene and ruin my reputation. I suggest you deal with her before this nonsense gets out of hand." The alpha's eyes narrowed as he looked between us. "This is a serious accusation," he said, "and I do not take lies lightly, so if you know what's good for you woman, say the truth!" The alpha commanded. "I'm... I'm not lying... I'm... I'm saying the truth. This pregnancy belongs to him." I said, my heart thumping in my chest, hoping that the Alpha believes me, because I knew what would become of my family if he doesn't believe me. The alpha sighed, "Well, since none of you is willing to say the truth, I will perform the truth seeking ritual to settle this once and for all." "Dad, don't you believe me? I'm telling the truth. That baby doesn't belong to me. She's just nothing but a whore! Do you believe this... this low being over your own son?" "Son, if you are telling the truth, you have nothing to fear. I will perform the truth seeking ritual to find out the truth." The Alpha said, his tone firm. Kieran's jaw tightened and his eyes were filled with fury. He bent down to my level and whispered; "You just made the biggest mistake of your life and I will make sure you regret this!" I swallowed hard, my body trembling with fear as I looked up at him, and from the look of things he wasn't joking. --- The truth taken ritual began and everywhere was quiet. The Alpha stood at the center of the hall while the pack hover out around, their judgmental eyes were burning into me as I knelt in the sacred circle. My heart pounded so hard I thought it might burst. The truth seeking artifacts was laid on my hand. It was glowing. "Now lady, does the child you are carrying belong to my son, Kieran?" The alpha asked "Yes, the child I'm carrying belongs to your son, who is also my mate." I said bending my head while holding the artifact tightly. Just then, the artifact vibrated in my arms and when I looked up to see it, I could see that the artifact glowed a green light which confirmed that I was saying was the truth. The room erupted in gasp and murmurs. "This is ridiculous! it's got to be kidding me. She's lying, Dad!" Kieran yield angrily. "Enough!" The alpha snapped, cutting his son off, and glaring at him, " the artifact has spoken and the truth is clear. You will marry her today!" The alpha yelled. Wait. What? Marriage? Today? My mate who I've known to be kieran scoffed, "Dad, you expect me to marry her? Do you know who she is? She is the former head warrior Adam's daughter. The man who—" "You will marry her and that's final, Kieran!" The Alpha announced, cutting him off. No. No. No. No. No. This wasn't how I expected it to be. All I just wanted was for Kieran to accept me as his mate and take responsibility for the pregnancy, nothing more. Marriage? And today? I found myself shaking my head, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn't even know Kieran that well. Yes, we might be mates, and I was carrying his baby, but marriage? Not like this. Not so soon. I wanted Kieran to fall in love with me, to love me like a mate would, to love our baby and then to choose me because he wanted to, and not because he was forced to. This wasn't what I had expected. "Alpha," I heard my father's voice as he stepped out from the crowd. "We agree to this marriage." "What? Dad! No!" I shook my head, extremely terrified. From the corner, I could see my step mother and step sister smirking evilly, clearly enjoying the situation I was in. My father turned to me, his voice filled with disgust, "You've already shamed this family by getting pregnant before being mated, I won't allow you bring more disgrace and punishment to this family. So the least you can do is fix it by accepting this arrangement." "Dad, no..." I begged, tears falling from my eyes, "Please, I—" "Shut up!" My father snapped, "You will do as you're told, Cora, and that's final!" "No dad... Please, listen to me. I don't want to marry—" Before I could even complete my statement, I felt a hard painful slap on my cheeks. My father had slapped me, and again. "You will not disgrace me!" He yelled, his eyes bloodshot. Tears began falling uncontrollably from my eyes as I held my cheeks in pain. Kieran strode towards me, his steps were slow. For a moment, I foolishly thought he was coming to help me, to save me from the humiliation and pain. But when he bent to my level and grabbed my arm, his grip was anything but gentle. He leaned in, and whispered harshly in my ears; "You think this would change anything?" He scoffed, "It won't. This will be the beginning of your trauma." And it was true.Chapter 5 Cora's POV. Each day I spent in Kieran's house felt like a day in hell. Kieran didn't try to hide his feelings for me. He made it painfully obvious, especially when he invited Lyra to the house. Lyra was everything that I wasn't. Lyra was very beautiful. She was very confident also and was adored by the pack members. She was the pack warrior's daughter and she had no problem flaunting her closeness to Kieran in front of me. Every time she was around, she usually flung herself on him, using every chance she got, laughing at his jokes and whispering things that I couldn't hear. What about Kieran? He always encouraged her. He would smirk every time he caught me watching. He enjoyed seeing me hurt. One night, while I was feeling tasty, and heading towards the kitchen, I heard voices coming from his room. "You really think this will work?" A female voice asked. A voice I could immediately recognize as Lyra's. My heart sank. I tiptoed closer to the room, and pressed
Chapter 6Cora's POV. "Well... well... well... who do we have here?" I froze. My breath caught in my throat as three figures came out from the forest. They were rogues. Oh no. Not again. Not now that I tried to escape.Their eyes were filled with something dark and mysterious. My heart pounded as they surrounded me, trying to stop me from escaping. Their faces were filled with evil smirks.I tried to run, but I was too weak, way too tired to fight. The tallest of them, a rogue with scarred arms and yellowy teeth, looked at me up and down, a huge smirk on his face, "All alone? A delicate little thing like you?" He asked.I forced myself to take a step back, but my body betrayed me. I fell to the ground, and my palms scratched the ground, little blood spilling out, but... this time, I could barely even feel the pain anymore. It was like I was now immune to pain, the pain of loosing a child, the pain of been betrayed and discarded by my mate was way more than a little scratch on my palm
Chapter 7Cora's POV.Where am I? I blinked, my heart was pounding frantically as memories of the previous night came rushing back to me. I could remember the rogues, the way they chased me, the way they attacked me. Fear immediately gripped and I sat up on the bed, panicking. I was clean. My wounds were cleaned, my body was free from dirt. And the blood that has stained me, the blood which was an evidence that I had miscarried my child was now... clean. Wait, even my dress was gone. I was wearing a white oversized T-shirt.Okay... this was scary...Someone had touched me. Someone had changed me. Who the heck was that? I shuddered. Was it one of those rogues... Or?Just then, I heard a deep, masculine voice. "Finally awake, little omega." I turned my head towards the sound, my heart beating frantically in my chest. A man was sitting in a chair just across the room. He was watching me with a smirk.I could recognize him. He was the man from the forest, the one who had saved me.
Chapter 8Cora's POV The moment Kaden left, I could not breathe. His words still echoed in my mind. "Cora, I hope you get your revenge." I folded my hand in a fist as my nails dug deeper into my palms. I don't know how, but somehow he knew, and I didn't like it at all. He was a stranger afterall.I didn't like how he could easily read me. I didn't like how I was here in his room, a room that wasn't mine, in a pack that wasn't mine, wearing a shirt that wasn't also mine. Everything smelled like him; cedarwood, smoke, and... trouble. I had to leave now.I couldn't stay here before he decided to demand a price. But as soon as I moved, my vision became blurry. I held the wall for support, feeling so weak. I hated being weak. I hated everything.I gritted my teeth and tried to move one foot after another. I was forcing my body to obey, but my body just betrayed me."And where exactly do you think you are going?" I heard his voice again. He came into the room and was standing in my way
Chapter 9 Cora's POV A loud knock was thrown at my door, dragging me out of my fragile sleep. I groaned, burying my face into the pillow. "Go away!" But the knocking did not stop. Then I heard his voice, very early in the morning. "Not happening little Omega. Get up, we train in ten." Immediately my eyes flew open, annoyance filling me. Training? What the hell? I pushed myself up. I was squeezing my face as I could feel the pain and the soreness in my body. Every part of my body ached but Kayden clearly did not care. Fine, if he wanted me up I would make sure to make his life hell today. I forced myself to stand up. My legs were shaking but I stood up anyways. I had a goal. To make Kaden's life a leaving hell just like he's making mine by waking me up so damn early! Ugh! Okay. I would train, I would get stronger and then I would leave this damn forsaken place. But first I have to survive whatever ridiculous training Kaden had planned. The training groun
Chapter 10 Cora's POV. I groaned as I woke up getting ready for another morning of training with Kaden. My body was still aching from yesterday's training, but since I wanted to survive, since I wanted revenge, I needed to get stronger. Kaden was standing in the center of the training ground waiting for me. He was looking way too relaxed as if he wasn't about to just throw me into another round of suffering. "All right, little omega," he said, clapping his hands. "Let's see if you've improved or if yesterday was just a waste." "Again, Kaden, please stop calling me that name. I have a name, it's Cora." "Well... Nope," Kaden said, shaking his head and an annoying grin on his face. I lunged at him without warning, making sure to throw a punch at his very annoyingly smug face, but he dodged it easily and the smirk on his face widened. "Still too slow, little omega," he taunted. I gritted my teeth trying again. This time I was faster, but again Kaden dodged it way easily, s
Chapter 11Cora's POV By the time evening was around, I was way exhausted. Selene was what we call a typical shopper. She took me to different stalls even though my legs were aching and I was crying. Selene did not listen, of course. Ronan and Kaden did not even help matters. When we reached the cabin, I wanted to relax, but that was when I heard that the pack was going to host a hunt. A tradition in the pack. it was like a test of the skills of warriors and the teamwork of the warriors.I decided to freshen up and we moved to the pack ground. When we reached, there were wolves around me. Some were looking at me like they hadn't seen me before. Yes, because I've been living in Kaden's cabin, but they didn't judge me.There was excitement in the air and the energy was... wow. I watched as different wolves shifted into their wolf form, and I swallowed hard. I wasn't a warrior, not yet, but I really wish I could shift to my wolf form. Yes, I had my wolf, but I haven't been able to s
Chapter 12 Cora's POV It was late, still I couldn't sleep. My whole body was extremely tired, but somehow, my mind kept on drifting to a certain someone. I kept thinking of the way he had looked at me after the fight with the rogues. That look was different and that bothered me a lot. It made me blush even as I tried to sleep. I turned on the other side of my bed, and closed my eyes for sometime, trying so hard not to think of a certain someone. Yet... the sleep didn't come. I groaned. I needed air. It was suddenly hot. I got up from my squeaky iron bed, slipped on my boots, and then, I made my way outside. A chilled breeze blew past me making a small smile grew on my face. This was exactly what I needed... Something to help clear Kaden off of my head. He was already over-clouding my mind and was slowly seeping his way into my heart... I almost choked when I saw him leaning against a tree near the cabin. This was the man I was just thinking about.... He was lost in though
CHAPTER 37Cora’s POVWe arrived at my father’s house, and Kaden drove the car straight in without stopping or hesitating. The moment I stepped out of the car, my eyes scanned the place that had once been like a prison to me. Selene and Ronan joined me while Kaden pulled my closer to him reminding me that I was not alone in this. And then.. just right on time; Vivienne and Vanessa came out through the big front door. The very moment their eyes landed on me.. their lips stretched into fake wide smiles. But when they saw the three people standing next to me, their smiles depreciated immediately.Vivienne quickly masked it with an expression that was sweet and fake. "What are they doing here?" she asked, walking towards me and trying to sound calm but failing.I shrugged. "They are my family, so of course, they are invited to come with me.""Of course. Of course. Come in." she said, pretending that she was not angry, her voice sounded way too sweet that one could tell it was clearly f
CHAPTER 36 3rd POV - Vivienne and VanessaAdam's house...Vivienne and Vanessa sat on the living room.. each holding a glass of wine as they awaited Cora's visit.Vivienne slowly swirled the wine in her glass a deep smirk on her face."I must say, I didn’t expect her to agree so easily.." she mused. "Either she’s gotten stupider over the months she was away, or she still has that foolish hope that people like us can change." "It’s pathetic. She’s always been so desperate for approval. She probably thinks Father actually wants to see her.. She really is hopeless." Vanessa snorted as she crossed her legs while playing with her little finger."That’s what makes this so much fun. She’s walking into a den of vipers, thinking she’ll find warmth. And the best part? She won’t even realize it until it’s too late." Vivienne smirked , her eyes filled with evil doings."I hope you’re not planning on just guilt-tripping her Mother. That’s boring. We need to make her pay properly." Vanessa said.
CHAPTER 35Kaden’s POVThe entire trip to Adam’s house felt off.I couldn’t shake it, it just felt off.Something screamed at me to stop Cora from going on with her plan but she was determined. As I drove the car, my hands clenched on the steering.. my eyes scanning the dense forest paths leading to Adam's house.Ronan was at the passenger's seat with me while Selene and Cora were at the back seat."Are we really doing this?" Ronan whispered to me and I sighed."I guess so.""I'm not feeling good about this." Ronan said, a slight frown on his face.I took a quick glance at Cora and could see that she was lost in thoughts and had covered her eyes with her earpiece."Me either." Selene replied.Selene and Ronan, even with their usual playfully they could feel it too.Why wasn't she feeling it also? Why does she looked calm. Way too calm like she wasn’t walking into the lion’s den.Like she wasn’t about to face the very people who had made her life hell."Cora. Cora." I called for her. S
CHAPTER 34Cora’s POVJust as I was enjoying Ronan and Selene’s ridiculous banter , a loud aggressive knock shook the front door."Who the hell is knocking like they’re here to collect a debt?" Selene muttered, a slight frown on her face."Maybe it’s Kieran. Come to cry about his miserable life." Ronan replied looking completely unbothered. "If it is, I’m throwing my fork at his face." Selena snorted. "I’ll get it." I said shaking her head."Be careful. If it’s your psycho ex-husband, I’m punching someone." Selene said and I chuckled."Eh. Let them in. We could use some free entertainment." Ronan said. With a sigh, I walked to the door and pulled it open. And there they were.Vivienne and Vanessa.I rolled my eyes just as the sight of them.Vivienne stood in her usual fake elegant posture and her lips curled into what was supposed to be a warm smile but her eyes had a glimpse of malice.Vanessa was beside her, her expression was full of forced sweetness."Cora, darling. We’ve been l
CHAPTER 33 Cora’s POVI woke up feeling… strange.Warm.Like someone had been beside me.I frowned.. my fingers curling over the sheets as I turned my head looking around my empty room. I swore I felt someone there. My heart thumped in my chest as I inhaled slowly. I could smell his scent here.Cedar. Kaden. My stomach flipped. Had he been here?In my room?I swallowed.. pushing the covers off of me and getting to my feet. My hands were still tingling like they had touched him in my sleep.Did I dream it?I shook my head. No.. it had felt real.Without thinking I stepped into the hallway and made my way toward Kaden’s room. I knocked once. Then twice. Then thrice. And when no one answered me, I twisted the door knob.. but it was locked.I frowned.Where was Kaden?I turned on my heel and made my way down the stairs towards the living room until I could hear the annoying sound of bickering coming from the kitchen. And unsurprisingly.. there they were.Selene and Ronan. At it again
CHAPTER 32Kaden’s POV"This is absolutely ridiculous." I muttered under my breath as I laid on my back staring up at the ceiling of my dark room. My arms were folded behind my head and no matter how many times I turned or adjusted my position.. I just couldn’t get comfortable. I felt restless.. completely unable to relax as if something inside me refused to settle.Cora's room was just opposite mine. And she was Alone. She was probably curled up under the blankets.. her soft body pressed into the mattress as she sleeps.I groaned squeezing my eyes shut and trying so hard not to get hard.Fuck!I wasn’t some teenage boy who couldn’t control himself. I was a full grown man who was fully capable of control. And yet just at the thought of her lying on her bed and probably wearing whatever the hell she was sleeping in.. my whole body was screaming for her and my control seemed to have flown out the window."Shit."And the worse part?My wolf was making it worse.'Go to her. She’s ours.
CHAPTER 31Cora’s POV"Alright, enough standing around looking dramatic... Let's go Cora! I have a surprise for you!" Selene announced grabbing my wrist and dragging me to the car. We all entered the car while Kaden drove us to the house gifted to him by Alpha Tobias. When we arrived, I couldn't help the gasp that escaped my lips. It was a mansion and it was beautiful. Extremely beautiful and even the exterior looked homely, unlike the dungeon I had just returned from.Though the alpha had gifted him a house, Kaden had refused servants in the house so it was only going to be Selene, Ronan, Kaden and I living in this house and I was thoroughly glad with that arrangement. We were here for revenge so we didn't need any prying ears lurking around the house. The privacy was just perfect."You have to see your room. I personally handled everything, so prepare to be amazed." Selene said dragging me into the mansion."Yeah.. prepare to be traumatized." Ronan snorted as he followed behind.
CHAPTER 30Kaden’s POVI was in Alpha Tobias office discussing with him when the door slammed open so hard with force.Kieran walked in angrily, his face filled with rage.Alpha Tobias looked up at him and sighed deeply while rubbing his forehead like he was already exhausted from whatever Kieran was hear to say. Kieran glared at me before facing Alpha Tobias. "You have to do something about them!" Kieran yelled as he slammed his hands on the desk.Alpha Tobias raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Do something about what?""Cora! And this guy here!" Kieran growled and I tried my best not to laugh at the bandage wrapped around his head, and the plaster placed on his nose.Alpha Tobias groaned, showing just how frustrated he was. "What did they do?""They’re sneaking around under my roof!"I chuckled and then smirked.Kieran’s eyes were filled with fury as he turned towards me. "You are laughing huh?!"I shrugged. "Should I be crying?"Alpha Tobias sighed scratching his head. "A
CHAPTER 29Cora’s POVBy the time I walked back to my room, the last thing I expected was to see Kaden lying comfortably on my bed like he had every right to be there.I gasped, quite shocked, my eyes widening in surprise. "I thought you had left." Kaden shook his head while he stretched his body lazily on the bed, his dark eyes filled with mischief."Nah... I didn’t leave. I was still around. Just waiting." He said smoothly."Waiting for what?" I asked, raising a brow. "You know what." He said lazily, placing his hand underneath his head.I shook my head slightly as I walked past him , pretending not to be affected by sight before me. Him sprawled on my bed, relaxing while shirtless."So..?" he raised a brow, watching me, expecting my answer. "So... what?" I asked, frowning as I stared at him, pretending to understand what he was saying when in reality I was trying so hard not to stare at his hard rock chest.Gosh...Kaden smirked, as if knowing just how much his shirtless figu
