I wanted to laugh because it sounded awfully ridiculous to my ears.

“Are you drunk, Benedict?”

He hissed. “It’s you who is drunk, Maddy.”

“Right,” I agreed. “But I want to get drunk… I don’t know what to do now you know. I want to kick your ass off, but I don’t know where to start. I’m not even sure if I can trust Lucius or not. I have no one else.” I looked down on my glass, trying to bring a bit of tears out.

“And whose fault is that? You should have stayed with me instead of running away. Life is far crueler than you think. See where your stubbornness brought you? You were caught by human traffickers and sold off to the underground society. You’re nothing less than a plaything to that man. Staying by his side means you would either get killed by his enemies or you’d get killed by him.”

“And you’re suggesting that I better stay with you, the person who betrayed my family and pack?” I chuckled. “Seriously? You think I am that dumb?”
