ELLE

I didn’t expect it to feel this satisfying to watch Isla fall. It reminded me of her words the night I had gone to her for help. It felt so good to see her humiliated and no doubt she would be tossed aside.

Theon’s question sliced through the thick that had cloaked the room when he first spoke up. All eyes were on Isla, waiting to hear what she would say but she was frozen like a deer caught in the blinding headlights of the truth.

“Answer me” Theon bellowed, his loud voice surprising everyone and forcing Isla out of the trance she was in.

“I…I…I didn’t drug her” she stammered, tears welling up in her eyes “I just made the video to scare her. I had planned to blackmail her to leave you but I was just as shocked to see it played at the party but it wasn’t me. I swear”

Theon didn’t blink. He wasn’t moved by the tears that were spilling down her face and neither were the guests who had gathered. They all looked at her with disgust and anger, as if they were waiting for Theon to

AUTHOR’S POV The fallout from Isla’s scandal was immediate and unforgiving. In a few hours, people had posted clips from the party and it went viral immediately. Social media and news outlets were eager to release stories about Isla and her pristine image being a farce. Her reputation had crumbled like ash sprayed in the wind. Brands that were affiliated with her began releasing statement promising their customers to cut all ties with her. Promotional videos, photos, billboard ads were all being taken down. Even her film and TV show appearances were being halted. Directors, investors and studios were blacklisting her, eager to make sure the damage didn’t indirectly get to them as well. Isla’s career was done and her fall was the biggest scandal the industry had ever witnessed in years. Just like that, Isla Remington had turned from being the golden girl of the big TV and was reduced to a snake. On the other hand, Elle Davenport didn’t care. She didn’t even read any news o

AUTHOR’S POV Victoria was mad. It was evident in the way she had turned her office upside down as she looked for anything to let out her anger. Files were scattered all over the floor, and a mug that had been thrown against the wall lay shattered on the floor while she paced the office furiously, her eyes reading the notice all over again as though that would change the content of the notice. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, VICTORIA BLACKWELL HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM HER POSITION AS HEAD OF MANAGEMENT AND HAS BEEN REPLACED BY ELLE DAVENPORT BLACKWELL. “I’m going to kill that bitch” she screamed as her hands pulled her hair painfully. “This is war. She has just declared a war and I will make sure she feels my wrath. She made a big mistake” Her hands trembled as she reached for her phone on the table. Her usual calm demeanour was nowhere to be found. At that moment, Victoria didn’t care about how she looked. All she knew was that she would do anything to make sure she wasn’t tossed aside. “Wh

ELLEI sat at my vanity while brushing my hair when a knock came. I knew it couldn’t be Sophie since she never knocked before she walked in. She had gone back to her room to get some files and my schedule for the day and to also make a few calls.I wanted to ignore it, knowing it would either be Theon or Victoria and I didn’t want to deal with them at least not this early in the morning, but I decided to answer and see what it was about. “Come in” I called and dropped the brush I had been using before turning to the door to see who would walk in. Victoria walked into my room with a controlled smile on her face. She still had that carefully crafted elegance she always had. I raised a brow in surprise at the image in front of me. “Elle, darling” she began with her usual fake smile that I couldn’t even bother to return “Thank goodness I caught you before you left for work” I eyed her suspiciously. Victoria had never come to my room ever since we got married so I was surprised that

Everyone had turned to me as soon as I entered, and the tense atmosphere warned me that they must have been talking about me before I arrived.I paused at the door, an amused smirk on my face and let my eyes sweep across the room.Theon sat on his usual seat at the head of the table, his expression unreadable as he glanced at me briefly. Julian sat two seats away. And to my surprise, Charles and Reginald were also present.I should say Julian was the surprise since he wasn’t family, and Victoria had said she was organising the dinner for family.“I didn’t know Julian was family,” I mused. “I thought the dinner was for family”Julian arched his brows at my comment but said nothing. He hadn’t done anything to me, but I didn’t like the feeling I got around him. Something told me always to be careful around him.“Julian is like family, so it is only right that I invite him,” Victoria answered with a smile, and it was the

AUTHOR’S POVAfter Elle Davenport had walked out angrily instead of having dinner, Laura knew she couldn’t stay, so she excused herself and left the house as fast as she could. She couldn’t believe her eyes. That was Eleanor, even though she tried to deny it. ELLETheon was changing. I didn’t know if he was aware of the little things he did, but I noticed. He stayed closer to me when we were outside, his eyes lingered whenever our gazes met, and let’s not even get started on the way there was always an edge to his voice whenever someone, especially a male got too close to me. I didn’t know what got into him, but it was amusing to see. I doubt he knew what was happening. “Mrs Davenport” a voice said, pullong me out of my thoughts and I focused on the man who had called me. I was currently in a meeting for a potential collaboration with Diba, a luxury fashion brand that wanted to open its flagship stores in all our malls across the country. For some reason unknown to me, Theon decided to come with me to the meeting. He sat at the head of the table, calm and collected, while watching Bryant, the operations manager of Diba, who sat beside me. “I’ve heard a lot about you.” Bryant took my hand, and Theon’s eyes flickered with something unr

Lockwood Academy was a school I had invested in back in the day. It was meant to be a hushed investment, but my name still managed to make its way into some inner circles. I guess it would be right to say my investment shaped Lockwood Academy into what it is today. It went from a mid-tier to an elite school, and I was proud of how far it had come with my support. ELLEI stormed out of the mansion without a clue as to where I wanted to go next. All I knew was that I had to be far from Theon before I lost it.“The keys!” I screamed at the driver standing by the car. When he handed them over, I snatched them from him and drove out of the compound like a mad woman. My hands were clenched so tightly around the steering wheel that my knuckles turned white. Theon’s words played in loops in my head, and I couldn’t stop it.I dialled Sophie. “Meet me at the house,” I told her as soon as she answered the call.“Elle?” her voice was laced with worry and confusion “What’s going on?”“Just meet me there. I can’t talk,” I told her, ending the call before she could ask another question. The drive to the house was fast and dangerous, and it was a miracle I made it in one piece, but right now, my safety was the least of all my worries.I knocked loudly on the door, and Jeremy opened it shortly.“Ellie? What are you doing here?” he asked, his eyes wide with sur

THEONToday was one of the few times that I was able to have dinner with Elle. It was quiet as usual, with the clinking of the cutlery as the only noise to accompany us as we ate.I could not stop watching her, and she noticed, but she was not saying anything. No matter how I tried, I could not get Milo out of my head, and it didn’t help that I kept linking Elle and Milo to that drawing I had found in her room.I took another sip of my wine as I again visualised Milo beside Elle to see if I would find a similarity.“You’ve had your eyes on me all evening,” Elle spoke, not lifting her head from her plate to stare at me. “Is there something on my face?”“No, nothing is on your face,” I answered, dropping the glass on the table. “I just have something on my mind.”“Business?” she asked. Even though her tone was guarded like always, it still surprised me.Elle was never one to care about what happened with me. She never asked how my day was, what I was up to, or anything like that.“No,”

AUTHOR’S POVElle sat with a satisfied smirk as she admired the papers in her hand. Theon had finally completed transferring his shares in the hotel chains to her. She knew Reginald was going to come barking anytime soon and she could not wait to see the expression on his face as he whined like a little bitch. She dropped the papers on her table and spun her chair, giggling happily while looking around her office space. She still could not believe how far she had gotten in just five years.“Who knew that tossing me out would be the best thing that had ever happened in my life?” She smirked.Though she wanted revenge on everyone who hurt her, she was still grateful that what happened did happen. Back then, all she wanted was to marry Theon and be happy, but the fall from grace forced her to find herself and work hard to achieve everything she wanted but never worked towards.A knock disrupted her celebratory moment, and she quickly put the papers back in her drawer, knowing it wouldn’t

THEONI told myself it was nothing, but that was the biggest lie I had ever told. Before I knew it, I was back in my car, headed for Lockwood Academy again.I had called Mrs. Luther early in the morning to inform her that I would be coming to the Academy to check out a few things and discuss something with her. That was a lie. The truth? I couldn’t get Milo out of my head.I couldn’t understand why, and it was absurd, if you asked me, because he was just a kid I met yesterday. He was supposed to be another of the numerous kids I encountered daily, but this one stuck. His eyes that looked oddly familiar and sparked with curiosity.
