Caspian took an unsteady step back, his grip tightening around the forged contract in his hand. The blood drained from his face as his gaze flickered between Maria, Emmanuelle, and the unknown woman standing beside her. A muscle in his jaw twitched. His mind scrambled for a way out, for some last-minute trick to regain control.

But there wasn’t one.

Not this time.

Elowen leaned slightly toward Lysander, her voice barely more than a breath against the charged air.

“Now… let’s watch him burn.”

The sound of heels clicking against the marble floor snapped Caspian’s attention back to reality.

“Hello, Caspian,” Emmanuelle said, her voice dripping with a sweetness that sent a shiver of dread down his spine.

Caspian’s mouth opened, but no words came. He should have known. He should have seen this coming. First, Maria had claimed the contract was fake, and now she had pulled Emmanuelle out of nowhere. His nostrils flared as he turned to Maria, his composure slipping.

Just a taunt.“Elowen?” Lysander’s voice was steady, but his sharp gaze was already scanning her face, reading the fear settling into her bones. For the first time in years, she felt weak.Without a word, she spun on her heel and yanked open the car door. The air inside the mansion was thick with tension. The maids stood huddled together, their gazes darting between one another, their breaths coming in shallow gasps. The chandeliers above cast a warm golden glow, but there was no comfort in the light only the looming presence of Lysander. He stood at the center of the room, his grip firm around Leander’s hand. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes, cold and sharp, swept over the frightened faces before him."Find the one," he murmured, voice low but cutting through the silence like a blade.Leander swallowed hard, his pulse hammering in his throat as he let him gaze drift over the gathered women. Some clutched at their aprons, others stared at the floor, their shoulders shaking. But then—he saw her.The maid stood near the back, her body rigid, her lips pressed into a tight line. But it was her eyes that gave her away. Wide. Glassy. Terrified.Leander took a step forward. Then another. The woman didn’t move, but her breath hitche

Lysander turned away from the window, his jaw clenched so tightly it ached. The night air bit at his skin, but it did nothing to cool the fire raging inside him. He rolled his shoulders, forcing himself to breathe, forcing himself to think.Calista was dangerous—he knew that better than anyone. And worse, he knew exactly why she had come back. She wanted him.But she had made a fatal mistake.Nobody touched his children and walked away unscathed. Not even her.Without hesitation, he grabbed his car keys and strode toward the door, his footsteps sharp against the marble floor. His mind was already racing ahead—calculating, planning. He didn’t need a strategy to deal with Calista. He just needed to get his daughter back.A voice cut through his thoughts."Lysander, wait!"He turned just as Elowen came running down the grand staircase, her robe billowing behind her. Her bare feet barely made a sound, but the determination in her eyes hit him like a slap."I’m coming with you," she said,

“If you lay a hand on my daughter, Calista,” Lysander’s voice was ice, sharp and dangerous, “you won’t live to regret it.”There was a beat of silence then the line went dead.Lysander stood still for a moment, the cold weight of the phone lingering in his palm before he shoved it into his pocket. His jaw clenched, muscles coiling with restrained rage. He turned to Elowen. Her tear-streaked face had hardened, grief twisting into something darker something fierce.“Let’s end this,” he muttered.Elowen wiped at her eyes, smearing tears across her cheek, but her stare was hard as stone. “Let’s.”They climbed into the car, slamming the doors shut behind them. The night pressed in around them, heavy and suffocating. Lysander gripped the steering wheel tight, the leather creaking under his fingers.“What now?” Elowen asked, her voice cracking under the strain, but her determination unwavering.A slow, bitter smile curled on Lysander’s lips. “Calista made a mistake. “You want your daughter back?” Rebecca tilted her head, her crimson lips curling into a mocking smile. “Then make a choice your daughter or Lysander. You can only save one.”The words echoed through the room, sharp and heavy, like a blade pressed to Elowen’s throat.A suffocating silence followed, broken only by the soft, fragile sobs of little Eulalia from across the room. Elowen’s hands trembled at her sides, her heart pounding so violently it drowned out the world. Her breath caught, somewhere between a scream and a sob, her mind spiraling through the impossible decision laid before her.Lysander stood stiffly at her side, his jaw clenched so tight the muscle twitched. Rebecca’s lips quivered as she opened her mouth to speak. “I…”The word dissolved into the heavy air, her throat tightening with fear.Elowen’s smile didn’t falter. It was cold, sharp, and full of venom. She took a step forward, her heels clicking against the marble floor, echoing in the tense silence. The only sound breaking the stillness was Eulalia’s soft sniffles, muffled against Elowen’s shoulder. The clock on the wall ticked, loud and cruel, marking the seconds that felt like hours.“You what?” Elowen asked, her voice laced with mocking curiosity. “You don’t know who to choose?” Her eyes burned with hatred as she tilted her head, her tone suddenly turning sharper. “Then maybe I should help you decide.”Rebecca’s knees buckled, but pride kept her standing barely. Her silence was deafening, and Elowen had no patience left. She snapped her fingers. Instantly, two guards lunged forward, grabbing Rebecca by the arms and slamming her to the ground. A strangled gasp escaped her lips as

A sterile scent clung to the air. Bright, fluorescent lights cast a harsh glow over the white-walled hospital room, their glare piercing through Elowen’s closed eyelids. A groan slipped past her lips as her fingers twitched, her mind sluggishly dragging itself back to consciousness. The chair beside her bed creaked. A large, warm hand wrapped around hers, grounding her."Elowen," a deep voice rumbled. Her lashes fluttered. The blinding lights made her wince, but she forced her eyes open. The world around her was blurry at first—white walls, monitors, an IV drip attached to her arm. And then, him.Lysander sat at her bedside, his usually sharp features softened by relief. He looked exhausted, dark circles shadowing his piercing eyes. His grip on her hand was firm, as though afraid she might slip away

The air smelled damp, the scent of pine mixing with something metallic something off.As Elowen stepped out of her Lamborghini Aventador, a dozen guards followed, moving with sharp precision. Their black suits blended with the night, silent shadows awaiting orders. Her pulse was steady, but beneath it, rage simmered."Surround the building," she commanded, her voice low but firm. The men split instantly, disappearing into the darkness, their training evident in the way they moved no wasted steps, no hesitation.Elowen adjusted the gun holster beneath her coat. Elowen’s heels clicked against the marble floor as she paced in her office, her mind racing. Her hands trembled slightly as she clenched her phone, her heartbeat thrumming in her ears. "I was just about to call you," he said, his voice carrying its usual smoothness.Elowen forced a smirk. "Yeah? But I called first.""Touché, my love," he teased, but there was an edge to his voice, like he sensed something was wrong."I need your help," she said, dropping all pretenses.A pause. Then, "What do you need?"Elowen swallowed hard, gripping the edge of her desk. "The full force of your guards."Another pause. She could hear Lysander shifting, the rustling of papers being pushed aside. "Why?""My friend has been taken by her own mother."Lysander let out a low, frustrated sigh. "Seraphina?""Yes

Elowen stood slowly, the quiet scrape of her chair against the floor the only sound in the room. She smoothed her hands over her dress, then crossed the space between them with graceful precision. Settling into the chair across from Seraphina and Zephyr, she crossed her legs, her sharp gaze never leaving them. She had never asked Seraphina about her mother. It wasn’t out of disinterest far from it. She had respected her friend’s choice to never speak of the woman. But now, hearing Zephyr's words, a chill crept down her spine. She folded her hands in her lap. "Why would her mother want her dead?" Her voice was calm, but the steel underneath was unmistakable.Zephyr leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his fingers interlocked. He let out a slow breath, his jaw tightening as he spoke. "From what I’ve uncovered, Seraphina’s mother never wanted her in the first place. She only married her father for his wealth, and children weren’t part of the deal. She was a spy planted by the
