Ava POV

I opened my eyes weakly, my eyelid still heavy. I shook my head trying to clear the grogginess. I stared at my environment for a while, white painted room. A beeping machine by the side. I tried to sit up, but my body shook with overwhelming pain.

I closed my eyes back trying to remember where I was. Then the memories from earlier on came rushing in together with the tremendous pain.

Derek's engagement, my family annulment, Annabel's pregnancy, the accident. The “let me die” came rushing back into my head.

I was alive. It meant I did not die, the good Samaritan saved me when I pleaded with him to let me die. It seems people no longer listen to people's last wishes.

Anger rushed through me as I felt my skin turn light red. This man would have just made me die.

“You are awake,” a masculine voice said, disrupting me from my thoughts. He leaned by the side of the door, his hands tucked in his pocket enhancing his masculine structure. I took in his features; his tall height, broad shoulders, long masculine legs, his dark hair, and his perfectly carved jaw lines. He stared at me keenly with his blue-grey intense eyes.

“Do you remember what you said last before the accident? '' he asked calmly with a smirk on his face.

“Yes, a wish you refused to respect” I retorted my voice at the edge of anger.

He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion for a while “You wanted to die?” He asked softly with a hint of inquisitiveness.

“Yes and I think you would have let that wish come true but you decided to give me a life I don't want!” I replied.

His face turned pale white his perfect smirk replaced with a stoic face, his eyes filled with range.

“How can you be so selfish?”

“What?” I was surprised. How did I wish death on myself to become selfish? Is my life after all.

“If you were alone and wanted to die it would have been fine but you wanted to kill not just you but the baby in you. You did not even think of giving the baby a choice to live!” He blurted out his ears red with anger.

I let his words settle in my brain. I had a baby growing in me. I am pregnant.

“Am I pregnant?” I asked to confirm my suspicion.

“Yes,” he answered, his voice still on the edge.

“ Wait, you did not know you were pregnant?” he asked, his voice filled with remorse.

I shook my head as tears filled my head. Why did I not discover this a day ago? Maybe everything would have been different, I would have still been with my husband.

But then again, he had been cheating on me for a long time without my notice. And Annabel planned her pregnancy, for all the years I had known Annabel with the numerous men she had slept with she never got pregnant. According to her, she was not ready to bring another creature into her life.

A pang of pain hit my heart again as I remembered how happy they were yesterday.

I can't have this baby. I can bring a baby into this world with an unemployed heartbroken mother and besides it will be a continuous reminder of Derek and no matter how I try his or her face is a constant reminder of his face.

A doctor walked inside with a smile.

“You are awake ma. Do you feel any pain?” he asked, checking my heartbeat with his stethoscope.

“No” I shook my head aware of the handsome stranger's soft gaze on me.

“Okay. That's a good sign but next time be more careful you are still in your early stage.”

“How many weeks?” I asked softly.

“Six weeks, it is still young but you are in perfect condition” he replied.

I smiled tightly and watched as he walked towards the door.

“Can I get an abortion?” I asked.

“What?” They both asked. I avoided the eyes of the handsome stranger and tried to stay calm even though I could feel his gaze burning into my skin.

I cleared my throat again “I want an abortion. I don't want the baby” I repeated.

“I want to be able to move on” I cried in my heart. The doctor looked at him for a while, he waved his hands to the doctor. He turned and left.

“You are not getting an abortion,” he said calmly even with his tone I could feel the range at the edge of his voice.

“Please” I pleaded, touched by his kindness. He had to understand my point of view. I was too broken to have a baby.

“I saw the divorce papers, they were inside your luggage and I had to check them for your name.” he said and watched my actions and added “I will take care of you and the baby. Don't take it out,” he said in a low pleading voice. I stared at his soft blue eyes, his gaze burned into my heart.

“Fine!”I blurted out. After all it was also my baby, a proof that I was not a barren whore.

He smiled broadly, with happiness. I felt deeply surprised at his reaction for a child he did not know a child that was not even born. I wondered what Derek's reaction would be when he found out that I am not the barren woman he thought I was but he would never know. I would protect him with everything within me.

“The doctor will be here with some prescription and you will be discharged”he said and gave my hands a tight squeeze.

I nodded with a tight smile. “Oh I have a meeting in new York so I will be using my private jet but my driver would come and pick you up, they will drop you at my airport and drop you off”

“You have an airport?” I ask with surprise as I try to sit up again.

He smiled checking his wristwatch “yes we will talk more when you arrive” he replied and placed a soft kiss on my forehead.

He gives me a tight smile before leaving.

It made my heart sink; I hated that I was the cause of that worry.“Ava?” he said softly, stepping into the living room. “Can we talk?”I took a deep breath, nodding even as my heart raced. “Yeah, of course.”He walked over to the couch and sat down across from me, his body angled slightly toward mine.
