Chapter 14

"Mommy, wake up," Lisa yelled as she shook Cora who was still sleeping soundly. When Cora felt the disturbance, she opened her eyes to see the brightest smile on her daughter's face. She couldn't get used to seeing her every day.

Three years ago was one of the hardest periods of her life. She lost her mother on the day she gave birth. Since then, Lisa has been her world. The only person she was living for. Having Lisa gave her this mad sense of responsibility, leading her to work hard so that her daughter wouldn't suffer the same fate as her.

"You're up early, baby girl." Cora leaned in and kissed her forehead.

"Good morning, mommy." She returned the kiss and fell into her mother's arms. Cora wrapped her like a newborn, almost squishing her.

"Good morning, my darling. Hope you slept well." She asked as she stroked her hair gently. Lisa nodded and looked into her mother's face.

"Daddy..." She muttered. At first, Cora was confused.

"What did you say, love?"

"I saw daddy yesterday
