Ruby used to live in Rose Hills. She was best friends with Wolf, Sam and her cousin Scarlett. Everything changed when her mother and father divorced. Ruby was in fourth grade and her mother decided to pack them up along with her sister Cerise and move to New York for a fresh start.
Ruby was heartbroken but so were her friends, especially Wolf. He had always loved Ruby and on the day she left, he kissed her when no one was looking. It was the first kiss for both of them.
"Promise you wont forget me, Wolfie?" she pleaded.
"How could I forget you, Rubes?" he asked and she smiled. He truly meant it at the time.
All of them texted, emailed and messaged each other constantly in the weeks and months that followed but eventually, it dwindled off. Ruby made new friends in New York. Sam became a jock, Scarlett became a popular girl and Wolf became a member of the Riders of Fenrir. His father was the leader after all. Sam became a self centered player. Wolf became dark and ruthless. Gone were the two sweet boys that Scarlett and Ruby knew. Scarlett transformed in a cold hearted, cruel girl, at least that's what she let everyone think. By the time the end of sophomore year rolled around, none of them spoke very often. Scarlett, Wolf and Sam would all say hi in the halls and they were still friendly with each other but they hadn't hung out together in years.
Scarlett was the only one who still communicated with Ruby. They still talked often. For Scarlett, Ruby was the one of the few people that she could still let her guard down with. Ruby adored her cousin and they would do anything for each other. They still visit each other regularly and Scarlett was a bridesmaid along with Cerise and Cassy when Cherry (Ruby's mother) married Silvia (Cassy's mother) last year.
Scarlett had hit it off with Ruby's new stepsister, Cassy as well. Cassy and Ruby became best friends while their mothers were dating and were overjoyed to live together as sisters. Cerise was happy as well but had moved to California for college by that point.
POV Scarlett
I smiled when I looked at my phone to see that Ruby was calling. I wouldn't have to pretend for at least a few moments. I savored the time with her since it was only then that I could truely be myself
Scarlett: Dear cousin, how are you?
Ruby: I'm great! I have news.
Scarlett: Ohh. Tea! Spill!
Ruby: Guess who's moving back to Rose Hills?
Scarlett: Really? Please tell me that you aren't playing a cruel joke on me.
Ruby: Yep. Mom and Sil told us today. I'm excited but Cassy is nervous.
Scarlett: YAY! Tell Cassy not to worry. I'll make sure that everyone is nice to her.
Ruby: That's what I told her! I also told her that Sam and Wolf would love her. I can't wait to see everyone. Of course, I'm still pissed that they ghosted me.
Scarlett: Remember what I told you, the boys aren't the same as when you left
Ruby: I remember. I'm sure that its just an act, just like you.
Scarlett: Maybe but I doubt it. When will you be here?
Ruby: Next week. Thursday. Right before school starts.
Scarlett: I'm so happy. Junior year with my girls! I'll see you soon!
Ruby: Bye, Scar. Love you
Scarlett: Love you too.
I grinned as I hung up. I was so relieved to have my cousin coming back. She was my best friend and I loved her dearly. I just hoped that she was happy here. Rose Hilss was quite a change from New York and it wasn't the same town that she left.
I briefly wondered if I should give the guys a heads up that she was coming but decided against it. If they had bothered to keep in touch with Ruby, they would have already known. I knew that Ruby was hurt when they stopped responding to her messages, calls and emails.
I shook my head, they better not mess this up. I've been waiting for years to have my best friend back and I was prepared to hurt anyone who bothered her. I quickly called the only other person in Rose Hills that I trusted.
"Don, can you come over? I have to talk." I asked and he agreed to meet me at my place in a few.
I pulled him in the door before he could even knock.
"What's going on?" he asked, alarmed.
"Ruby is moving back here with Cassy!" I announced with a grin. He smiled too.
"I'll finally get to meet her?" he asked and I nodded. Don moved here in eighth grade. He had some trouble with bullies and I quickly put an end to that. I was not about to let homophobic assholes ruin my school or hurt any of my class mates. He and I became friends right away and fully supported me when I came out freshman year.
"When will she be here?" he asked.
"Next Thursday." I replied.
"We should do something to welcome her and Cassy." Don began.
"Yes! A party! We could have it here. My parents will be out of town and wouldn't care anyway." I suggested. I thought for a moment.
"Let's not tell anyone about Ruby and Cassy though. Just say that we have a surprise for the upcoming school year." I continued. I didn't want Wolf or Sam to know that she was coming. I was pissed that they had neglected her and I wanted to get a bit of revenge on Ruby's behalf.
"Let me call her and get her approval." I said. I dialed Ruby and explained our plan. Surprisingly, she agreed to all of it. That's when it hit me, she wasn't the same either. She had told me all about the parties and clubs that she and Cassy frequented but I hadn't really believed her. Now, hearing her excitement about a wild party, I began to understand. I smiled. Ruby, Cassy, Don and I were going to own this school this year. This was going to be fun.
POV Ruby
"Welcome to Rose Hills!" my mom called from the drivers seat as we drove past the old Rose Hills sign. Cassy and I looked out our windows as I pointed out The Spot diner and the drive in to her. She sighed.
"Come on, C. I know that its a big change but at least we're together, and Scarlett's here." I added and she nodded.
"I know. I'm just not great with small towns. I'm sure that everyone here will believe all the rumors and think that I'm a ditzy party girl." she explained. I shrugged.
"So? If that's true then they'll think the same about me. I was with you when all those rumors started. I don't care. Scar knows us and loves us. We have her and each other. We have our awesome moms. That's all we need." I reason and she brightens.
"You're right. I guess that I'm just worried that I'm going to get bored here." she replied and I laughed.
"Yeah. This town is a bit dull but now were here to shake it up. We'll make this town fun!" I encouraged.
"Not too much fun." Silvia warned.
"I dont want to have to bail you two out of jail again." Mom added.
"That happened ONE time and that guy grabbed C. What was I supposed to do? Not punch him?" I defended and they both sighed. I knew that deep down, they were both proud that I stood up for C and I smiled.
"Here we are." Mom announced as we pulled up to a huge house.
"This is ours?" I asked in amazement. I knew that Silvia was rich and my mom wasn't too bad off either but this house was gigantic.
"Yep. The movers have already delivered everything. I know that you are going to want to go see Scarlett but let's have a family dinner at The Spot first. Just the four of us?" my mom suggested and we agreed.
"Ok. Go check out your rooms and freshen up and unpack a bit. Well leave in two hours." Silvia stated. C and I went to find our rooms. I was happy when we discovered that they were next to each other and even happier when I found that we each had our own bathroom. I love Cassy to death but sharing a bathroom with her was a trial.
I called Scar and let her know that we were here and explained that our Moms wanted a family dinner with just the four of us. She understood but made me promise that we would come over before the party the next day and hang out.
I unpacked most of my clothes and took a shower. As I got dressed, I thought about my old friends. I was secretly heartbroken when Sam and especially Wolf stopped contacting me. I knew that we all had our own lives but I truly thought that Wolf cared for me. My sadness had changed into anger over the years and I was now glad that I was back to get a bit of revenge. I heard a knock on my door and opened it to see Cassy standing there.
"Ready, Rube?" she asked.
"Lets go, C." I replied and we walked to the door arm in arm.
POV Wolf
Wolf was broken when Ruby left. Losing her changed him. As the years wore on, he became darker and cruel. He joined his Dad in the Riders of Fenrir and truly enjoyed the MC lifestyle. He liked the drinking and one night stands. He loved the chaos and the fighting. There was nothing better to him than making someone hurt. He was well known as the most ruthless member of the Riders though he tried to tone it down some at school.
"What are we up to tonight, boss?" Foxy asked. He looked at the dark haired girl who was going to be his next in command and shrugged.
"There's a northside party tomorrow. At Scarlett's house. We should check it out. The last blowout before school." Jackal suggested. Jackal, Foxy and Hound were Wolf's best friends and were MC through and through. Wolf grinned. Scarlett's partys were epic. Last time he went to one, he ended up getting in a fistfight with three guys and beating the crap out of them.
"Definitely. Scar's hot." Foxy agreed. It was a well known fact that Foxy had been trying to get with Scarlett since the Riders transferred to Rose Hills High sophomore year.
"So's her friend, Don." Hound added.
"Sounds good." Wolf agreed.
"Lets head to The Spot for dinner and then see what trouble we can kick up at the Den later" (The Den is the Riders of Fenrir's bar and Clubhouse) Wolf suggested and the rest agreed. They got ready and headed out on their bikes.
POV Sam
Sam felt hollow since Ruby had left. He distracted himself with football and girls and had earned himself quite a reputation. He didnt mind though, in fact, he was proud of his fuckboi status. Being football captain had certainly helped him in that regard. He started playing guitar at the beginning of sophomore year just so he could get in with the arty and music chicks. It worked like a charm, too. They all bought his sensitive musician act, of course, until he dumped them after he had his fun.
"Bro, are you going to Scar's tomorrow night?" Pete asked as they changed after football practice.
"Of course!" he replied with a smile. At the last party at Scarlett's, he ended up having a three some with two freshmen girls in Scar's parents room.
"I'm starving. The Spot?" Chad asked. Chad and Pete were Sam's two best friends. They were on the football team together and all three had the same reputation.
"Definitely." Sam smirked. He shut his gym locker and they left the school.
POV RubyThey were having a great time at The Spot despite all the stares and strange looks they were receiving. It was bound to happen. Rose Hills was a fairly small town. Not only were they a new family, the fact that their mothers were holding hands had not gone unnoticed.Ruby rolled her eyes as she glanced at two guys that were obviously staring at them. She looked back when she realized that she recognized one of them. It was Clive. He was in Ruby's grade when she lived here. She froze for a moment but then relaxed that he probably wouldnt even recognize her. She was a far cry from the pony tails and pink sweaters that she used to wear."The whole family is hot." she heard him mumble to his friend. She shook her head and went back to her burger."You're right. This place is so good." Cassy said to her as their mothers chatted."The Spot is an institution in Rose Hills." I explained to her and she nodded. We finished our dinners and went out to the car right as a motorcycle pulle
POV WolfI couldn't believe it when Scarlett introduced her. Suddenly I knew who Foxy had seen at The Spot last night. Why didn't she call me to let me know? I fumed for a moment. Of course, I don't know if she even could if she wanted to and why would she want to? I had ghosted her years ago. She had gotten even more beautiful in those years. I smiled when I finally saw her on the stage. She was breathtaking. I grinned as she scanned the crowd, knowing that she was looking for me. I saw her pause and look at Sam but was relieved when she rolled her eyes and kept looking. When she saw me, I remembered everything and the smile dropped from my face. This was the girl that left me. She destroyed me. Made me the shell of a person I am today. I stared into her eyes as I thought."Ruby, your first mistake was leaving and destroying me, your second was coming back." I thought. Her eyes looked confused and then sad for a moment but then her friend took her attention. I glared at her and then
POV CassyI hurried after Ruby and found her outside, making out with bartender. I smirked when Wolf came crashing out a minute later. He stared at the couple, dumbfounded."What? You didn't believe me?" I asked him and he glared. I was surprised to see his fists clench and the rage in his eyes."Why are you mad? She isn't your girl" I asked but he only answered with more glaring."I don't know what you did to make her like this but you will pay!" he promised. I looked at him in confusion."You think I changed Ruby? Um... no, that was you. She was broken when you ghosted her and she vowed to never let anyone treat her that badly again. She hasn't either. She is even better than I am about avoiding relationships." I explained as his face grew darker and darker."You are lying!" Wolf burst out but I just shrugged."Believe what you want but listen to me. I love that girl. She is the nicest, kindest person in the world. She's both my best friend and my sister. If you mess with her and hu
POV RubyI shook my head and walked out of the theater. Of course I had noticed Wolf lurking toward the back of the lobby after we walked in to get our tickets. I was expecting this. He was so sadly predictable. I sighed as I looked for my friends. I realized that the movie they were in wasn't out yet so I sat in the lounge and waited. Of course, Wolf followed me and sat next to me."So you figured that out, huh? Why did you let me sit with you anyway?" He asked and I chuckled."I wanted to see if there was anything of the boy I used to know still in there." I explained and he frowned."So? What's the verdict?" he asked after a pause."I'm not sure but I'm beginning to lose hope" I replied softly. I wasn't prepared to see the sad look pass over his face. It disappeared quickly and he shook his head."Hmm..." He replied and I smirked."Oh... I hit a nerve!" I teased with my eyebrows up. He rolled his eyes. He looked like he was about to snap at me but stopped himself. After a breath, h
POV Ruby"We thought that we should welcome our sister back home!" Varg boomed. "Crap" I said and Wolf smiled at me. I looked over and Cassy and Silvia. They both looked as worried as I felt. "Varg." Mom sighed. "In the flesh." he grinned. "Sorry to stop by unannounced but when Wolf here told me you were back we just wanted to welcome you and let you know that you and your family are always invited to come get a drink at the Den. We still see you as under the protection of the Riders. I know you left us but you still have a place with us if you ever want it." Varg went on to say as he handed my mom a plant. Mom looked confused but then smiled. "Thank you, Varg. I would invite you in but the house is a mess" she replied and he nodded. "We understand. Moving is a pain. Wolf and I just wanted to say hi and introduce or reintroduce you and your family to some of the guys. In case you run into any problems or need anything." Varg explained. "This is Jackal, Hound, and my son Wolf. C
POV RubyI giggled with Don and Cassy as we walked through the halls to our first class. I glanced over at Scarlett and noticed that she looked worried."What's wrong?" I asked her."Did you see how upset he looked?" she asked and I shook my head."Not really, why? Don't tell me that you feel bad for him" I replied."Of course not. He just looked so mad. It was a little scary" she explained."I think that you should stop messing with him and just avoid him for a while. He's dangerous" she added.I shrugged and said, "Alright. I'll try but only for you" I gave her big eyes and she laughed at me. I hugged her and she hugged me back."I'm so glad that you're here. I missed you so much" she said."I missed you too." I replied. We walked into our class and sat together next to Don and Cassy. The rest of the morning went well and soon it was lunchtime.POV WolfI was annoyed. First by what Ruby had the guts to say to me this morning and again because she was ALWAYS with one of her friends.
POV RubyI didn't like the way that Wolf was looking at me. He looked deep in thought and it made me nervous. He shook his head and then looked at me. I swear that all the anger and rage left his eyes and was replace with something else. Something that I used to see in his eyes when we were kids. I gasped in confusion. I felt unnerved and I wished that he would go back to looking angry. This new look was scary and made me uncertain. Suddenly, I felt a large hand on my shoulder and Wolf looked up at someone behind me. Immediately his eyes changed to anger but I knew that it wasn't directed at me for once. I turned and was met with Sam standing over me and Pete behind him."Hey, Ruby!" Sam said, keeping his hand on my shoulder. I looked at Cassy and she glared at him. All the conversation at our table stopped and everyone looked at us."Hi, Sammy. What's up?" I asked, trying to keep the smile on my face even though I really didn't want him to touch me. I moved my shoulder in an attempt
POV RubyTrigger Warning violence, harassment, threat of sexual assault, Homophobia"That was quite a performance" someone said from a dark corner as I hurried back into the gym. I looked to see who was speaking."Chad? Is that you?" I asked and was unnerved. Chad and I were never friends. I never trusted him and Scarlett had told me all the awful things he had done in the last years."Ruby. What happened to you? You used to be so sweet and pure. Now look at you, making out with your sister in front of the whole school." he said in a voice laced with venom. As he spoke he walked closer to me.I shrugged, trying to not to show how nervous I felt. I scanned the dark hallway but it was deserted. I tried to figure out if anyone would hear me if I screamed but I realized that we were too far and the gym was too loud."It was just a kiss, I would hardly call that making out" I smiled trying to joke. He glared as he grabbed my arm."I don't know what it was like in New York but here in Rose
POV RubyI smiled at Wolf as he grabbed my bag."Are you sure that you want to go back today?" he asked and I nodded. I was released from the hospital a few days ago. I still had crutches but I decided to go back to school."It's too boring here." I complained and he smirked."I could always just stay with you. I'm sure that we'd find something exciting to do." he whispered in my ear. I shivered and shook my head."You're hopeless!" I exclaimed and he shrugged. "Okay. If it's too much just call me and I'll come get you." Silvia reminded me as she and Mom hugged me good bye. I rolled my eyes."I know. I'm good" I sighed as I hobbled out the door. Wolf tossed my bag to Jackal who was waiting by the car with Cassy. Jackal caught it and grinned as Wolf picked me up and carried me the rest of the way."Wolfie. I can do it!" I whined but he just grinned."I know, Baby. I just will use any excuse to hold you." he smirked and I glared. After we got in the car, Jackal in the driver seat, Ca
POV Wolf Cherry, Cassy, Slivia and Dad came back in the late morning and they and Ruby insisted on sending me home. After much arguing, Jackal showed up and practically drug me out of the hospital and back to my house."I'm just going to shower and change and then we are heading back." I said and he nodded."Fine, boss. Whatever." he agreed as we pulled up at the house."Some of the boys brought back everyone's bikes. The rest of the MC already gave their statements to the police with no problems. The cops said that they would be at the hospital this afternoon to talk to the rest of us. Hound, Mac, and Don are picking up Cerise at the airport and taking her right to the hospital. Scarlett and Foxy are at Foxy's house but they are heading to the hospital in an hour or so to bring everyone lunch." Jackal continued as we walked in."Thanks for taking care of everything. Dad's been handling Cherry and Silvia and I can't seem to let Ruby out of my sight." I replied. He looked confused and
POV Ruby"I can do this. I can do this. I HAVE to do this." I mumbled to myself as I wobbled out of my room. It was late or early, depending on your point of view. I had managed to send them all home a few minutes ago. Mom, Slivia and Cassy all wanted to spend the night but I had argued and Varg drove them home with promises that they would be back in a few hours. I knew that I had to be quick but I needed to see it. To be sure. I had overheard the doctor telling Mom where it was right before she left. He asked if she wanted a moment with the body but she refused. He explained that it would be moved to the morgue in an hour or so. I had quickly and quietly unhooked everything from me and slid out of the bed. My leg was in unrelenting pain but I had one thing left to do. I limped down the empty hallway. Luckily, the room was close to my own. I struggled to open the door when I heard the voice and froze. I closed my eyes. Of course, HE didn't leave. I should have known. "What are you
POV WolfThe EMT's showed up a few minutes after Ruby passed out. At least I hoped that she passed out. They first started to take care of Dale but my Dad stopped them."Take care of her first!" he commanded and luckily they obeyed. Jackal pulled me away from her so they could work on her as the second team appeared to work on Dale. The EMT's applied something to Ruby's leg and quickly got her on the stretcher. I followed them as they wheeled her outside. Her Mom along with Silvia, Cassy, Scarlett, Mac and Don were right outside the door."Ruby!" Cassy screamed as she saw her. Jackal ran to Cassy just in time to catch her as she fell."NO!" Cherry yelled. She ran to Ruby and followed her into the ambulance. I started to follow but Dad grabbed me."I'll bring the others to the hospital, Cherry. We'll be right behind you." Dad yelled. Cherry seemed to barely hear him but nodded slightly as she sobbed over Ruby."Slivia, do you have your keys? We'll have to take your SUV. I only have my
Trigger warning Abuse, Violence, Gun ViolencePOV Ruby(Back when she was walking in the house)As I quietly walked towards the dining room, I could hear my father ranting."She's late. She knows that I hate it when she's late. I'll have to take care of her. I'll teach her." he muttered."Leave her alone!" Slivia yelled."Shut the hell up. You aren't her parent. You are a leech who took my wife and family when I wasn't looking. I should kill you right now!" he screamed as I walked through the door."Hello, father." I quietly said with my eyes downcast. I was trying to control my shaking. As much as I hate to admit it, this man terrified me but I couldn't leave my family to die at his hands. He whipped around to see me."Finally, you show up. You're late." he snarled as he backhanded me before I could see it coming. Instantly, I was on the floor, holding my face. I was transported right back to a little girl, innocent and hurt by the one man that was supposed to keep me safe. I took a
POV WolfTrigger Warning: Abuse, Violence, Gun ViolenceI couldn't believe that I was doing this. I couldn't believe that I was driving the woman I love towards the dangerous man who has harmed her countless times before. All I wanted to do is turn around and drive her as far away as I can. Trust me the thought has crossed my mind more than once. But I knew that she truly would never forgive me. I saw in her eyes that she meant it when she said that. I also saw that she needed to do this. So I continued on. This is the hardest thing that I will ever do, I thought. When we were a block away from her house, I pulled over and shut off the bike. She got off the bike quickly but I grabbed her hand before she could walk away. "Wolf, I've got to go. I texted him to let him know that I'd be there in five minutes. If I'm late, he'll be even madder than he already is." she said and I nodded."I know. I just..." I trailed off, looking at her as I stood. Suddenly, I pulled her into me and kissed
POV Ruby"What should we do, Varg?" Cassy asked and he looked at us."Can you tell where they are in that picture?" he asked and I nodded."Yeah. They're at our house. He said that I needed to come home or he would hurt them both. I need to go. He just wants me, I think. If I go, he'll let them go." I replied but Wolf tightened his arm around me and shook his head."NO WAY! You aren't sacrificing yourself. Who knows what he'll do. He can't be trusted." He yelled and Varg nodded."Wolf's right. Men like him will never be satisfied or happy. He'll take you and your sisters and your mothers. He'll never let them go willingly." Varg explained. Deep down I knew that he was right but I didn't know what else to do."I should call my Dad. He's the chief of the police. He can help." Don piped in. I shook my head."He said that if we call the police, he'll shoot them both the second he sees the cars." Cassy frantically explained. Varg frowned."We need to call the Sheriff. Don call him and let
POV RubyTrigger Warning talk and illustration of abuseI can't believe that this is happening! How did he know that we were here?! A million thoughts raced through my brain as everyone turned to look at me. I looked at Mac and Scarlett and they nodded. Cassy leaned in and rubbed my back. I looked down and sighed with relief to see a new text from Cerise in response to the one I had just sent her."At least Cerise is safe." I said and showed Cassy. She nodded and gave me a small smile. I quickly sent a text to Cerise to stay where she was and to stay with friends at all times. I added that I would call her when I could. I wouldn't let my older sister be harmed again in all of this."What do you mean the 'reason you left Rose Hills'? You left because your Mom wanted a fresh start and got a new job." Wolf asked and I nodded."Yeah that's true but the 'fresh start' thing was a more dire than we let on..." I began and the rest of my friends looked confused."My Dad... The real reason my p
POV WolfI smirked as I continued to kiss Ruby. Finally! my brain shouted. We kissed for a while longer until she finally pulled away again. I held onto her though. "We shouldn't do this, Wolf. You know that it won't end well..." she began."We don't know that. We could be perfect together." I sighed and she rolled my eyes."Yeah, we do. I can't deal with you being all controlling, Wolf. You can't do that to me." she replied with tears in her eyes and I melted. I couldn't stand to see her hurt."Baby, I'll try not to control you. It's not about controlling you anyway, it's about your safety. Keeping you safe and protected." I tried to explain and she sighed. "You don't understand. I've had a bad past. I can't fall into that again. I promised myself that I wouldn't. I just can't Wolfie. I want to but I just can't let you take over. I wouldn't survive it." She pleaded but I can't just let her go now that I have her.I shook my head and held her closer, "I can't give us up, baby. What
