Jenni's POV As consciousness slowly returned to me, I became aware of a dull ache coursing through my body. Every movement sent sharp waves of pain radiating from the wounds inflicted upon me. Blinking my eyes open, I found myself in a dimly lit room, lying upon a bed of straw. As my gaze shifted around, I caught sight of a figure hunched beside me, concern etched upon his weary face. Kendrick. Relief washed over me, mingling with the pain that still gripped my body. His presence brought a sense of comfort and strength."Jenni," he whispered, his voice filled with worry and love. "You're awake. How do you feel?"I mustered a weak smile, my voice hoarse. "I... I've felt better. But seeing you... it gives me strength."Kendrick's eyes filled with tears, which he hastily brushed away. "I'm so sorry, Jenni. I never wanted any of this for you. I should have protected you."Tears welled up in my own eyes as I reached out to touch his face, my fingers tracing the lines of worry etched upon
Jenni's POVThe pain seared through my body, each breath a reminder of the merciless lashing I had endured. I lay on our bed, propped up by pillows, while Kendrick gently tended to the wounds on my back. His touch was both soothing and painful, but I welcomed it, for it brought a sense of comfort amidst the turmoil that had engulfed us.As he delicately cleaned the wounds, I winced, biting my lip to stifle any cries of pain. Kendrick's face reflected a mixture of concern and guilt, his eyes clouded with regret. I reached out and clasped his hand, seeking to reassure him despite the anguish I felt."It's not your fault, Kendrick," I murmured, my voice filled with tenderness. "We both knew the risks we were taking, the price we might pay. I don't blame you for any of this."Kendrick's gaze met mine, his eyes searching for absolution. "But I should have protected you, Jenni. I should have found a way to keep you safe from Audrey's wrath."I squeezed his hand, my voice firm and resolute.
Audrey's POV I sat upon my throne with my regal posture exuding power and authority as my eyes scanned the grand hall, filled with courtiers and servants, all awaiting the next decree I would make. The room was thick with tension, anticipation hanging in the air.Suddenly, the heavy doors swung open, revealing Jenni's figure, her chest heaving with each breath. My brows furrowed in confusion as Jenni stormed into the room, her eyes ablaze with a mix of anger and desperation."Enough!" Jenni's voice echoed through the throne room, the words dripping with defiance. Her gaze locked with Audrey's, and a chill ran down the queen's spine. This was not the submissive and meek woman Audrey had grown accustomed to. No, this was a different Jenni, a Jenni fueled by anger and determination.Audrey leaned back slightly, her composure faltering for a brief moment. She hadn't anticipated such a direct confrontation, especially from someone she had deemed inconsequential. But beneath her surprise,
Kendrick's POV I stood in the dimly lit room, my gaze fixed on the door. Jake stood by my side, his expression filled with concern. We had just witnessed the confrontation between Jenni and Audrey, and now it was time for us to intervene, to reason with Jenni before her actions led to dire consequences. The heavy weight of worry settled upon my shoulders as I replayed the events in my mind. Jenni's determination had been admirable, her courage shining through as she challenged the Queen. But her anger, fueled by her love for me and her resentment towards Audrey, had clouded her judgment. I couldn't let her jeopardize herself or our cause."Kendrick, we have to talk to her," Jake's voice broke the silence, his tone filled with urgency.I nodded, my thoughts aligning with his. "You're right, Jake. We need to make her understand the risks she's taking. Challenging Audrey like that will only lead to more suffering."As we approached the door, apprehension settled within me. I knew Jenni'
Jenni's POV “Arrrghhh….” I shouted when they had left the cabin. I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t hold myself from the anger that was already building inside me. ‘I should just kill this girl’ I thought to myself. Because I just wouldn’t let her come snatch my Kendrick from me. Even though she was fated as his mate, that was in the past not anymore. Because I was now his bride and not even fate would change that. I paced around for a bit as I couldn’t hold myself from the anger eating me up. Frustration boiled inside me, threatening to spill over like a torrential storm. I paced back and forth in the confines of the room, my footsteps echoing off the cold stone walls. Every thought, every emotion, seemed to collide within me, fueling my anger and confusion. I couldn't understand why Kendrick and Jake had abandoned me, why they refused to support my desire to challenge Audrey directly. They were supposed to be my allies, my confidants, and yet they had walked away, leaving m
Audrey's POV I rolled my eyes as Jenni walked out of the throneroom with Kendrick and Jake rushing after her and turned to Eric. "I need guards to be stationed at the entrance to this room from inside the palace. It seems like we just don't need guards at the outside entrance only," I instructed. "Yes, My Lady," he bowed and began leaving the room to carry out my bidding. "And also send someone to inform that fool to clean the stables," I added and he paused his exit to listen. "Make sure you send a guard first to confirm that the stables are extremely dirty before sending someone to her." "I will do that," he responded and finally left. Cleaning the stables was even such a small task. Jenni deserved way more punishment for her stupid behaviour just now. She had also been acting rudely towards me throughout my entire stay here in the Blood Moon pack, without any remorse or shame for how she had treated me when we were children. How could she dare to act in such a brazen manner?
Kendrick's POV I knew that there were only two things that could be happening right now. It was either I was being set up to be punished or Audrey just wanted to stress me out. I was fully aware that she had eaten already which was why her being hungry certainly wasn't an option. There was however no way out of the ugly situation Audrey had planned ahead for me so I had to go to the kitchen to request for food for her just like she had requested. "Food for the queen please," I told the head maid as I ran into her even before getting to the kitchen and she bowed. "You really don't need to do that." "You are still the Alpha of this pack, My Lord," she countered and I wasn't even in the mood to argue at all. Everyone in the pack already plainly refused to stop calling me Alpha also so that kind of remark didn't surprise me anymore. Sometimes, it didn't even feel like some of the people did that because they still respected me but because they had gotten so used to calling me Alpha t
Audrey's POV "My lady," Eric bowed in front of the throne where I sat. "Eric, what do you have to report?" "It's about your parents who went to the Lycan kingdom," he began. "Everyone leave us alone," I commanded and the guards and maids in the throneroom began walking out. Soon, there was no one around except the guards at the outside entrance to the throneroom and they were out of our earshot. I sniffed the room just to be sure only to realize that I could sense the presence of a werewolf even though there was no one around. "Eric, look around if anyone is nearby," I instructed and he swiftly obeyed. "There is no one around except the guards outside," he reported and I frowned. Were those guards the werewolves I was sniffing? The smell wasn't coming from that direction though, it was coming from the inside entrance. "Did you check the corridor that this door leads to properly?" "Yes, My Lady, no one is there." "Speak then, what is happening in the Lycan kingd
