That night, I lay in bed and thinking about what Derek had said about destroying my old house. It didn’t help that I was doing nothing but suppressing my anger and scaring Liana with words, those things were not enough. I had to start my revenge immediately. I stood up from the bed and grabbed a notepad and a pencil before sitting on my desk. The first thing I needed to do was find the receipt that could prove my parents weren’t here when the Campbells got murdered so I needed to think of places where the receipt could be. I didn’t have much hope that I would find it because a lot of time had passed. On the notepad, I write down a list of places where I think the receipt could be. My old home, the Campbells home, those are the only places I can think of right now. I circle ‘my old home’ and decide to start my search there. The next day, I go to Liana’s home. She seems to still be annoyed by the stunt I pulled yesterday and sends me to the kitchen to help the cooks. At the kitchen,
This was the second time I’ve run into those green eyes and just like last time, they have the same effect on me. I can’t feel Ida anymore and I feel so nervous. I watch as Asher’s eyes go from my head and drag down the entire length of my body, my entire body feels hot. I hide the maid’s uniform I carried out in my jacket and move closer to him. “Beta Asher, good evening.” When he says nothing, I smile and move to walk past him but he blocks my path. “What are you doing here and by this time?” it’s a feeling I can’t explain, but his deep voice fills every part of my body with warmth. What the hell? “Beta, I couldn’t sleep so I decided to take a stroll.” His eyebrows lift in disbelief. “You’re quite far from your home aren’t you, Alexa?” He remembers my name? In the dark house, with the light from outside shining partially on his face, he looks as surprised as me that he remembered my name. “I’m far from home because I’ve been walking for a while. You didn’t let me finish exploring t
The first thing on my mind when I wake up is I absolutely cannot let Derek destroy my home. But how was I supposed to stop him alone? I didn’t have much time to plan anything and I wasn’t sure I would get any opportunity with Asher watching me so closely. Speaking of which, I had to do something about the beta suddenly showing up in places I didn’t expect. I stood off in a corner in the kitchen of the alpha/luna residence trying to come up with ways to disrupt the plan to destroy my home when the maid I served the elders with came up to me. “The cook wants to see you.” I followed the maid to an unsmiling woman with frown lines on her face. “You wanted to see me?” “You had one job yesterday. Just pour the drinks for the elders and remain unseen, was that so hard to do?” “Doesn’t that count as two jobs?” I say sweetly. The cook’s face turns a deep shade of red and she takes a step towards me. “Get out of my kitchen, I don’t ever want to see you here!” she screams. I’m about to leave wh
I turn around to see what the old man is talking about but once again, I find nobody behind me. “Where…” I begin to ask the man but when I turn back around, he’s no where to be found. I am alone. What the… “I knew he was no ordinary person.” Ida says. “What does that mean for us though?” “We’ll see.” “Was what he said true? Is the bracelet hurting you?” “I can handle it.” “Ida!” “If it got too much, I was going to tell you. This is a partnership, Alexa; I won’t keep anything from you.” I trust my wolf. Everything I’ve ever experienced; she’s also experienced with me. I would have given up if she wasn’t with me and so for Ida, I am eternally grateful to the moon goddess. “You’ll get your chance to breathe some soon Ida, I promise.” I hear Ida growl her agreement. Now where was I going to get Liana’s herbs from? “Are you the Luna’s maid?” A patrol guard asks me. “Yes?” “There’s a package for the Luna.” “Ah, yes, she sent me to get that.” The guard hands me a sealed box and leaves whil
Later that morning, I get summoned by Liana who is currently pacing the floor and chewing her nails as she mumbles to herself. The rest of her maids -three of them, stand back unsure of what to do to break her out of her bubble. A knock on the door makes Liana jump out of her skin and break her out of the bubble. When no one moves to open the door, I sigh to myself and open the door just as the soldier at the door moves to knock again. “The alpha requests the presence of the luna at the hall of the elders.” I nod and close the door. “Luna, the alpha wants to see you.” Liana lets out a breath. “Cheryl, Alexa, come with me.” Inside the hall, there are elders pacing, maids replacing drinks and soldiers muttering to themselves. Derek and Asher are the only ones seated with grim looks on their faces. When Liana takes her seat, Cheryl and I stand behind her. I study the faces of the elders and ignore the pointed look from Asher. “Luna, what was that we saw?” Elder Muriel asks. “That was a
I follow closely behind Liana as she walks quietly behind Derek, Asher and some elders walking through the house of Elder Muriel. The news of the attack on him and two other elders reached the ears of the alpha before morning and they had decided to see the sight of the attack. The room looked like a storm made out of angry wolves had blown through it. There were blood stains on the floor and splattered on the white walls, the furniture was slashed and overturned and there was broken glass everywhere. What caught the attention of everyone however, was a large claw mark. I remember how Ida had slashed the wall before running away but it looked like her claws had passed through the brick wall, the claw marks were that deep. I had no idea Ida had this much bloodlust. Derek looked angry at the whole scene, Asher looked like he was trying to solve a puzzle and the elders had varying expressions of confusion and sadness. “How on earth did this happen?” Derek growls angrily at one of the gu
“Liana! Do you hear me? Wake up!” Derek says as he shakes the still unconscious luna. The elders had noticed what had happened and finally became quiet as they watched their alpha try to wake the luna up. Asher was on his feet as well. When Liana remained unresponsive, Derek lifted her into his arms and headed for the door with Liana’s maid and myself following closely behind. “We’ll get back to this later.” Derek says to the elders before exiting the hall and heading straight for Liana’s room. As Derek placed her gently on the bed, the door opened and a man walked in carrying a briefcase. “Alpha Derek, the Beta sent me to check up on the Luna.” Derek nodded and watched as the doctor fussed over Liana. Thirty minutes later, Liana had an IV dripping a clear colored fluid into her arm while Derek clutched her hand and watched her sleeping form. I didn’t have any more feelings for Derek but the sight of him worrying over Liana got me annoyed at the obvious display of affection. Derek
I stand with my back pressed flat against the wall of a house and watch for any sign of movement from the house across from it. I had been here watching the white colored house for almost an hour now, just waiting and watching. The past five days had been very busy for everyone working in the residence of the alpha/luna. The patrol wolves were busy during the night, on the lookout for the ‘rogue’ wolf that had attacked the three elders. The maids were constantly snapped at by Derek and the frustrated elders who were stressed that no new leads had been found. Liana had refused to leave her room, and stayed locked in for days muttering to herself. She wasn’t eating either and this made Derek even madder and had him blaming us for not taking care of her properly. Liana’s maids had been reduced to just two -a weak omega maid and myself. This made the work harder and piled on more pressure from Derek. Liana was finally feeling better and we could breathe some, and I could get back to unf
I was out of ideas on what to do to get Asher out of the prison he was in. Going to Ramsey was a mistake, I shouldn’t have even thought about it, but I was desperate, and desperate people do stupid things. Two long, hard weeks had already passed since Asher was put in prison for the death of Derek, and it was hard knowing he was framed for a crime he didn’t commit, but it was harder knowing that it was my fault he was in this position in the first place.“Alexa.” I shake the thoughts out of my head and turn to face the grim looking Ares, watching as he walks to me. “How is he?” I ask, concern for Asher filling my voice. “He is as fine as he can be for someone in that position.” “You sound…mad.” I say, picking up on the tone of his voice. Ares sighs. “I just don’t understand why he doesn’t just reveal what you to found out! There is evidence of the Luna’s guilt. He doesn’t need to suffer this way.” “Maybe he just wants to protect someone.” I reply quietly. Ares’ face is a mask of frust
“What the hell is going on, Alexa? What do they mean Alpha Asher murdered the previous alpha, his best friend!” Hope screams with her red rimmed eyes. “Oh, you’ve heard.” “Of course I’ve heard! The whole pack has heard! Alpha Asher was just paraded like a criminal, and for murder, no less!” “Maybe you shouldn’t call him alpha out loud.” Hope and I turn to face Kylan who just walked into the house. “He did nothing wrong!” “I know, but you could get in trouble for that. There’s no sense in getting you both in trouble.” “You’re right.” She concedes.“Wait, you both think he did nothing wrong?” I ask in surprise. “Of course he didn’t. I’m a good judge of character and I know that for sure.” Hope states emphatically while Kylan nods in agreement. “The rest of the pack though, they don’t feel the same way though.” “They didn’t take it well?” I wince. “Let’s just say, it took a lot to protect him from the angry crowd.”I couldn’t believe how…undependable the people of this pack could be. Ash
“Wolf Python?” Muriel asks in shock. “Yes, this was the poison used to kill my brother, this was the murder weapon used by Asher to kill him.” Ramsey digs out a folded piece of paper from his pocket, unfolds it and holds it up. “This is a blood test report conducted with my brother’s blood. High amounts of wolf python was found in his blood.”The report gets passed around as I can do nothing but watch and bite my nails nervously. No, that’s not right, you can do something, you can walk out there and tell them the truth and take the heat for him. Could I do that? Was I ready to give it all up for him?“What have you to say for yourself, Asher?” Muriel asks. “Anyone could have entered my room and put that vial there, what really makes it so certain I killed the alpha?” Asher replies calmly. That makes them pause, I’m starting to think that we might have a chance at this when Ramsey speaks again. “If the blood test and vial doesn’t make it certain, then how do you explain the strange ord
“What?” Asher says, as his brows dip in confusion. “What do you mean?” “It is just as I said, Asher.” Muriel replies, a smug smile on his face. Ares steps forward “That is your alpha, show him some respect!” “Is he really an alpha?” Ares rushes at Muriel but is stopped by Asher. “That’s enough, Ares. Let him be.” With one last angry look at Muriel (who doesn’t look bothered), Ares goes back to standing behind Asher.“Where was I? Right, this is an impromptu trial of you, Asher for the poisoning and death of our beloved alpha, Derek. Since the matter was a serious one, the council of elders agreed that you be brought in for a trial immediately.” “What council? I fired you all weeks ago.” “Since you are a suspected criminal, the decrees you made while you were alpha will not stand and so the council of elders are back in their positions.” Asher stands. “You keep on calling me a criminal and a murderer. Now you refer to me as alpha in a past tense.” Muriel shoots Asher a huge smile. “We
“That night, I have another dream –well nightmare, of the entity with red eyes and like every dream of it I’ve had, it is always going after me. This dream was slightly different from the rest though. In the other two dreams, I was always in the woods that looked similar to the one outside the pack settlement, but this time, it was inside the pack. I knew this because this dream happened outside the residence of the alpha/luna. For some reason, it bothered me so much that the location had changed. When I startle awake from the dream, I spent the next hours staring out the window, feeling uneasy for some reason that I did not know. That is how the morning finds me, sitting in a chair, staring at a dot in the window. What weighs heavily on my mind isn’t just the nightmare I just had, but also my encounter with Ramsey last night. There was a mischievous twinkle in his eye that didn’t sit well with me. As he spoke about Asher, I got the feeling he was taunting me, like he knew something t
“Don’t do anything stupid.” I had said to Asher, and he had agreed, at least with his lips but not his heart. Why else would he go on to do something stupid the very next day? After talking last night, we had fallen asleep, wrapped in each other’s arms and limbs. It was probably the most comfortable sleep I had ever had. When I woke up that morning and didn’t see Asher in bed beside me, I assumed his ‘vacation’ was over and he was about to start his first day as the alpha. After our talk last night, I was feeling a bit more open to the idea of him being the alpha, especially because he had agreed not to do anything stupid. The day had started off well, I had decided to resume work and was happily washing dishes and pans, humming a tune to myself. When afternoon rolled by and all the elders of the pack began to enter into the residence of the alpha/luna, I thought nothing of it and just assumed they were here to start their work with the new alpha.Evening came and the sky was slowly b
As Asher walks towards me, I feel myself moving back from the blaze of heat in his eyes, until my back hits the wall and I have nowhere else to run to. Asher reaches me and places his palm flat on the wall beside my head and he fixes his other hand on the wall beside my hips. No part of Asher’s body is touching mine but I am breathless, as if he’s touched me already.“Hey.” He says with his vibrating deep voice. “Hi.” I say back, sounding breathless. His lips pull up into a smile and he lowers his head towards my lips. My eyes flutter close and Ida growls. Suddenly, I remember where we are and my eyes pop back open. I push Asher away and step out of his space, where I can be able to think clearly.“We can’t do this here!” I say quietly but he leans against the wall, arms folded, like he has no worries in the world. “So we are still going to hide this.” It’s not a question, but I answer anyway. “Yes! I don’t want to be your Luna, Asher.” “Well, we are mates and I’m the alpha, so that a
“We are gathered here today, ladies and gentlemen of the Blood Moon pack to crown a new alpha. With the backing of all the members of the elders of the Blood Moon pack, I present to you, your new alpha, Asher King!” The crowd goes wild as Muriel introduces Asher and the doors to the hall swing open to reveal him, dressed in a velvet black long suit, adorned with gold chains hanging from his collar to his chest pocket. His hair that always seems too long and too unruly is parted in the middle, swept to either side of his face and is tucked behind each ear, held together and styled with hair gel that makes it look wavy.Asher was always handsome, but I had to admit, he was even more so today. The way the long suit clung to his body and his muscles made my mouth water. Even though I didn’t want him near that alpha’s seat, I had to admit that he looked the part of alpha so well. Every part of me (or maybe it’s just Ida’s overwhelming pride) wants to scream ‘that’s my mate!’ to all the fem
I run after Asher and get to him just as he’s crossing the gate of Sue’s house. “Wait!” Asher stops walking away and turns, watching me walk up to him. “Just wait a minute, think this through, please.” I say with pleading eyes. Asher sighs and runs a hand through his hair “I promised him, Alexa. He handed everything over to me, I can’t just leave it all behind.” “They could kill you.” Asher cups my cheek and smiles. “I’ll be fine. We’ve already got Liana right? Who else would hurt me?”“You know, I always wondered why Dorothea called you Luna, now I know why.” He says with a small smile. “What do you mean? What do you know?” Asher shakes his head, then he walks away. “Go after him.” Sue says when I return to the house. “I can’t change his mind.” I say quietly. “He promised his friend on his dying bed, it’s going to take a whole lot to change his mind.” Valor says from where his sitting.Maybe he was right. I should give Asher some space and then try to convince him to change his mind.
