Meanwhile in Eldoria…
Salis finally managed to reach his friend’s private laboratory.
After getting out of the portal he had to travelled for more than 24 hours on foot without getting caught as this laboratory where his friend worked was a secured facility which was not open to outsiders. His friend had to pull in some favours to sneak him in discreetly.
As Salis and his friend Felix reached the secured chamber, Felix keyed in the access code to his lab and the heavy metal door hissed open. Inside, a variety of advanced equipment flickered with glowing lights, waiting to be used.
Once they were inside Felix said “You owe me big time for this” adjusting his glasses he continued “I had to pull more strings than I’d like to, keep this quiet.”
“Don’t worry, as promised I will give you the new pill I developed for hair growth” Salis muttered distractedly, setting his bag down and pulled out t
Time flew by fast. It was the night before the ceremony, Elena laid down on the couch in her room closing her eyes.To anyone who sees her it looked like she was resting but the truth was far from that. She was speaking to her familiar, Sapphire through their mind link.As the restraints of the seal had started to weaken, she could use some of her powers now. Unless and until she does not overexert herself there were no problem."What did you find?" Elena asked through their mental link, her voice calm but firm.Sapphire’s voice echoed in her mind, tinged with slight irritation. “First of all, remind me to never take Kieran on a stealth mission again. That guy moves like a damn boulder rolling downhill.”Elena sighed “Sapphire”.“Fine, fine. We scouted the location near the Dark Forest where the calls were traced and searching for so long we finally found a cave in a hidden corner of another forest area ne
“Knock knock…”The light knocks on her room door brought back Elena out of her thoughts. She went to check herself in the mirror, making sure her make-up was not spoilt then eased out the wrinkles on her knee length dress and smoothened her messed up hair.Once she was sure that she looked perfect she went to open the door.As the door opened she was mesmerized as she looked at Liam who stood before her, his broad shoulders and perfectly tailored tuxedo making him look effortlessly regal. The deep purple fabric shimmered slightly under the hallway’s soft lighting, enhancing the intensity of his violet eyes. His usual unruly hair had been styled slightly, though a few rebellious strands still fell over his forehead, adding to his natural charm.Elena felt her breath hitch for a moment before she quickly composed herself. She had seen Liam countless times, but tonight—tonight was different.Liam’s gaze swept over her, his expression unreadable
Liam chuckled, shaking his head “Don’t get used to it.”She laughed and took the seat he offered, allowing herself to soak in the atmosphere. Everything about this moment—the hidden garden, the warm glow of the lanterns, the quiet night air—felt surreal, almost like a dream.Liam took the seat across from her and poured them both a glass of wine “To a night with no interruptions,” he said, raising his glass.Elena raised an eyebrow but clinked her glass against his “That almost sounds like wishful thinking.”Liam smirked “Call it optimism.”They sipped their drinks, the silence between them comfortable, filled with the distant hum of the water and the rustling leaves.“So,” Elena started, setting her glass down “Why did you plan this date suddenly out of nowhere?” Her voice was calm but filled with curiosity.Liam gave a mischievous smile as he s
The next day morning…Everyone of the staff members were busy in the place today. While some working staff were giving the final touches for the decoration in the palace, the others were preparing for the arrival of the guests, and the chefs were busy preparing the food. The Great Hall had been transformed into a place of reverence and beauty. Soft silver and black drapes cascaded from the towering pillars, symbolizing the colours of mourning. Silver lanterns, enchanted with an everlasting glow, floated gently across the hall, their light flickering like the whispers of souls long departed. The chandeliers, usually grand and golden, had been dimmed to emit a soft, bluish-white light, casting an ethereal glow over the gathering. At the centre of the hall, an ornate memorial altar stood tall, crafted from pure white marble and adorned with crystal roses. An enormous portrait of the young Aisha was framed and placed in the centre of the intrica
[Short Flashback…]The night before the ceremony…The palace kitchen was unusually empty tonight. The head chef and most of the kitchen staff had been called away for a final briefing by Butler Allen regarding the morning’s ceremony preparations. Only a handful of cleaning staff remained, busy organizing ingredients and cleaning up for the night.Hidden in the shadows near the entrance, Tressa smirked to herself “Perfect timing.”With careful, calculated steps, she slipped inside the kitchen silently. The scent of freshly cooked food lingered in the air, but she paid no attention to it. Her focus was solely on the large pot of vegetable soup, which almost everyone in the palace likes to have during dinner. From the folds of her sleeve, she pulled out a small glass vial filled with an odourless, colourless liquid— A poison that acts slowly and leaves no immediate trace. She
[Back to the present…]Tressa’s plan was set in motion, by the time the effects of the poison took hold, chaos would erupt. She traced fingers on the cool stone railing as she thought about Kira “If she had just kept quiet, if she had just listened instead of foolishly trying to play hero, none of this would have been necessary.”Tressa sighed dramatically, feigning regret “You really left me no choice, Kira.”But deep down, there was no guilt. Only satisfaction, “I will let you out once all of this is over my dear Kira, after all you are my only friend in this palace filled with hypocrites” Tressa whispered to herself looking at the looking at the people below.….Meanwhile…Elena still sleeping soundly in her room was woken up by the continuous knocks on her door. She woke up frustratedly and went to open the door angrily “Who is it?”
The guests had already started to fill up the Great Hall.Henry Beaufort stood tall beside Queen Elizabeth, his expression carefully composed as they exchanged formal pleasantries. It had been years since they last spoke, and though the tension was not visible to the guests around them, it lingered in the air between them like an unspoken truth.Meanwhile, Daniel Beaufort, crown prince of Alynthia—surveyed the Great Hall, his sharp golden yellow eyes scanning the growing crowd. The diplomatic smile on his face never wavered, but beneath it, his mind was racing.Where is Elena? He had been watching carefully since his arrival, expecting to see his younger sister among the attendees, but she was nowhere in sight. The Great Hall was already filling up. Nobles from all over Asterin and beyond had arrived, dressed in elegant mourning attire in honour of the ceremony. The soft glow of silver lanterns flickered overhead, casting an ethereal light on
On the other side Alisha walked back into the palace not stopping until she found an empty coriander. She stood there leaning against a wall and exhaled sharply, pressing a hand against her chest as if that would somehow calm the erratic beating of her heart. It had been years since she had last spoken to Daniel so closely, and yet… why did his presence still affect her this way?She closed her eyes, forcing herself to push aside the emotions that threatened to resurface. It was foolish. Whatever had once existed between them had been shattered long ago, buried beneath duty, loss, and the irreparable rift between their families. And yet, for a moment, when he had called her by her name instead of the formalities of their titles… it had felt like the past creeping back in, a whisper of something that no longer had a place in their present lives.No. She had far more pressing concerns now.Alisha straightened, pushing away from the wall
Liam met his gaze, unflinching “Try me.”For a moment, the air between them was thick with tension, two forces at a standstill but before Daniel could act, Liam took a step back and said, “You want to play smart? Fine. Then do your part and trust me to do mine.”Without waiting for another word, Liam turned and strode off, his movements quick and determined.Theo cursed under his breath “Damn it, he’s actually going.”Daniel exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair “I see why Elle likes him now, both are equally stubborn, really a match made in heaven” he muttered to himself as turned to the others and said “Let him go, we have work to do.”Kira glanced at him “You sure about that?”“No,” Daniel muttered, his jaw tight “But we don’t have time to fight among ourselves.”Theo sighed, shaking his head. “Let’s ju
Tressa stood face-to-face and said “Lets see if he can still stay hiding seeing you in pain.”Elena furred her eyebrows as she asked “What do—” but before she could complete her sentence Tressa caught hold of Elena’s hair and pushed her to the ground forcefully.“Stop—” Looking at this Alisha instantly stepped forward to stop Tressa but two members of Gantric knights stepped in and caught hold of her from both sides and placed the power sealing bangle on her right hand.Alisha’s eyes went wide looking at the bangle on her hand as she screamed “You bit*h… you…”Tressa turned to her for a second with a smirk “What are you screaming so loudly for this is the same accessory you made me ware when I had to fight this insect here” Saying this Tressa turned to Elena “Now you enjoy the feal of that bangle” Tressa said as she continued with wenting her ange
As they moved through the corridors, nearing the location of the secret chamber, they heard familiar voice calling out to them—“I know you’re here somewhere and can listen to me Alisha... come out now, or your precious sister dies here even before the poison in her body kills her today.”Alisha’s heart clenched as they all stopped in their tracks, pressing against the stone walls. Carefully, she peeked over the stone railing that overlooked the main hall below. There, standing at the centre of the hall, was Tressa, her cold gaze sweeping the area. And in her grasp—Alina.“And yes you coming here alone is not going to free your sister, bring you friends that Bit*h Lea and Liam as well” Tressa spoke up again as an evil smile creped-up on her face.Elena sucked in a quiet breath beside Alisha as she looked at Alina barely clung to consciousness, her body limp as Tressa held her upright. A sharp blade pressed against her neck and a
On Daniel and Alisha’s side…The journey to where Daniel had last left Master Yi and the others was not so smooth for the group. Due to the battle Daniel had before he met Alisha and the others the enemies were alerted and a small group of them were still searching for them in the corridors. They moved in silence, each of them on high alert. The further they went, the heavier the air felt, as if some unseen force was warning them that something was terribly wrong.Alisha gripped her weapon tightly, her steps quickening. The uneasy feeling clawed at her chest.Daniel was ahead of the group, leading them through the winding corridors with sharp precision. His golden eyes remained fixed ahead, unreadable, but there was a stiffness in his posture—one that only someone paying close attention would notice.Elena felt it too. She glanced at Alisha, but neither of them spoke. Then they turned the last corner and reached the lab bu
Liam and Theo soon reached the secret chamber, inside the air was thick with dust, the scent of old stone and damp earth clinging to every breath Liam and Theo took. The faint torchlight cast long shadows on the walls, making the abandoned space feel even more desolate.Liam walked up to the far end of the chamber where her had found the hidden door to the passage way.He climbed the stairs until he reached the dead-end and then crouched down running his fingers along the rough stone surface, searching for the mechanism to open the hidden passage’s entrance.Theo stood behind him, arms crossed tightly over his chest “You know, this place has ‘bad idea’ written all over it. Just putting that out there.”Liam didn’t look back. “Noted.”With a soft click, the wall shifted slightly as Liam pressed against a loose brick. A narrow gap appeared, revealing the entrance to the underground passage. A gust of co
Alisha processed the information quickly “Then we should regroup with them before we make any further plans. If they succeed in making an antidote, we’ll need it.”Theo, still trying to avoid Daniel’s wrath, clapped his hands together “Great! A rescue mission, sounds fun.”Daniel shot him a look, making Theo shrink back slightly.Elena ignored the tension for the time being “That’s a good idea but before deciding on that, did you guys find anything in the place Theo mentioned about earlier?”Liam turned to her as he calmly explained “We went to the place Theo mentioned and indeed found a hidden chamber there but it was empty. But based on the dusty footsteps on the floor and the space in the chamber its clear that at least a hundred plus people were staying there.Probably that is where Tressa was hiding her people before the attack.”“So it’s of no use?&rdq
As soon as Liam stepped inside the hidden chamber without thinking much Elena rushed forward throwing herself into Liam’s arms. Her fingers clutched the back of his purple cloak as she felt his heartbeat against hers. Relief crashed over her like a tidal wave, and for a brief moment, nothing else mattered.Liam hesitated for only a second before wrapping his arms around her, holding her tightly. His body was tense, but she could feel his heartbeat settle as he exhaled, resting his chin briefly atop her head."You’re okay," she whispered, as if saying it would make it more real."I'm okay," he murmured back, voice low "You're safe, too."Once she relaxed into his arms, she felt a heavy gaze on herself. Something cold coiled in her stomach, a deep-rooted fear that had nothing to do with the enemies outside. She slowly lifted her head to look over Liam’s shoulders— and her blood ran cold as she locked eyes w
On Daniel’s side…He moved swiftly through the corridors, his steps precise as he led the guards away. He could hear the clanking of armour behind him, their pace quickening as they followed the sound of his retreat.“Good. Keep following me” He thought to himself with a victory smile on his face.As he turned another sharp corner he came face to face with another pair of Gantric Knights. The two guards barely had time to react before Daniel struck. His sword slashed through the air, knocking the weapon from the first guard’s hand before driving the hilt into the man’s stomach. The soldier gasped, doubling over. The second guard lunged with a spear.Daniel twisted out of the way, his footwork smooth as he sidestepped the attack. In one swift motion, he caught the shaft of the spear, yanked the guard forward, and elbowed him in the face. The man stumbled, blood dripping from his nose. Then he gather
As they moved through the corridors Master Yi started coughing hardly and as he removed his hand covering his mouth, it was covered in blood.“Am I poisoned as well?” Master Yi muttered to himself.“Did you have dinner at the palace last night?” Daniel asked to which Master Yi nodded “Then you are poisoned as I over heard downstairs that person poisoned the food that was to be served for dinner.”“If that’s true how am I still fine?” Lily asked.“How would I know probably you did not eat the poisoned food” Daniel said.Ignoring the two of them Master Yi spoke “If I am really poisoned, I need to get to my lab as soon as possible before the poison in my body acts up more.”Lily glanced at Master Yi, concern flickering in her gaze, Master Yi was right—if the poison spread further, he might not last long enough to create the antidote. Then she turned to Alina who
