Alpha Callan's POV

When Drevan informed me of a trespasser at the border, I wasn't interested.

I had ordered him to kill whoever it was on the spot not interested in entertaining such people.

However, he came back and did the opposite of what I ordered.

He even brought her here to our base. Damn it, I cursed as I walked with him towards the pack clinic where the woman was currently being examined.

“Did you check her for bombs and another sample substances?” I asked randomly as we drew closer to the clinic.

“She was unconscious when we found her so we were careful not to disturb her,”

A sigh of frustration left my lips as I realized he had been playing safe. If she had been injured and they moved her too much, it could have resulted in more injuries even internally.

As much as I detested spies and liars, the idea of causing harm to someone else didn't sit well with me either.

“That's fine,” I muttered as I walked into the clinic. Drevan held the door open for me and the minute we had both passed, he released it and it swung back in place.

The staff got up once they recognized me and began to greet me.

I merely nodded my head in response and followed Drevan as he led the way to her room.

As I neared the room, I suddenly felt some tightness in my chest which was strange because I was an Alpha and there was no way I was nervous.

“Here Alpha,” Drevan announced as he stopped in front of a door. “After you..”

He bowed slightly and I yawned as I walked further and opened the door.

The room smelled like hospitals literally but there was also the distinct scent of feminity which I picked up on.

“How are you feeling….?” I started to ask but the rest of the words got stuck in my throat as my eyes widened. “Kayla?”

Her expression mirrored mine eventually and we both stared at each other in disbelief.

For her it was probably more since I was presumed to be dead.

“You?!!! But how is that even possible?!”

“Kayla?” I called, her name coming to me without trying even after all those years had passed.

She spluttered and I found it amusing as I waited for her to gather her thoughts.

“But you were dead,” she finally remarked and I knew that wasn't what she intended to say.

I shrugged and eyed Drevan who got the messages and immediately excused himself.

Once we were alone, I sat at the edge of her bed and took her hand in mine. “I'm alive but it's a long story,” I gritted my teeth as flashes from my past rushed back into my head. “Just rest and when you're fit enough, we'll talk about it.”

She opened her mouth to say something but I pretended not to see it as I rose to my feet.

“I'll be waiting outside in case you need anything.” I informed her and then let myself out.

What were the odds that the trespasser I had wanted them to get rid of would be someone from my past?

Drevan joined me as I left the room and eyed me questioningly.

“What?” I rolled my eyes.

“Nothing Alpha but if I may speak freely,” he started to say and I groaned.

“Go on,” whatever he'd say I might not like but knowing Drevan he'd find a way to say it anyway.

“I don't think we should trust her especially if she's someone from your past,” he continued and I narrowed my eyes.

He had a point about the past part but about Kayla, I trusted Kayla.

She had been somewhat of a friend and I could see from the onset that my brother didn't deserve her but it wasn't my place to suggest anything.

“Have you even asked her any questions about what happened to her and how she ended up at the border?” He added when I didn't respond. “What if your brother sent her as a spy?”

I shook my head instantly. “Kayla would never do such a thing,” But even as I said that I fought back a nagging sense of doubt in the back of my head.

“I'd advise you to run a background check on her, just to be safe.” He summarized and I thought about it.

He had a valid point. For all I knew Kayla could have turned into a monster all these years and since I wasn't there, I wouldn't know.

Could she be working for my brother perhaps?

A man wearing a white coat walked past us and entered into Kayla's room breaking my thoughts.

I charged forward to go after him but Drevan stopped me, holding me back.

“Let the doctor do his job,”

It didn't take long and in less than a minute, he was back outside with a large grin on his face.

A scowl took over my features as I watched him. Why was he so cheerful?

“She'd like to see you,” he told me as he reached us and I gave him a firm nod.

Drevan tried to hold me back again but I shrugged his hand off and ordered him to stay outside.

Kayla was sitting up when I entered the room and she raised her head, sending me a broad smile.

“Hey,”

I took the seat closest to the bed unsure what to make of the warm welcome she was giving me. “What's going on? How are you feeling?”

She nodded. “I feel great and bsttu. So…you said you wanted to talk and I've been curious about everything and couldn't wait to hear it.”

I shook my head in disbelief. “Well this isn't a pretty story.” I warned as I started speaking.

“I'm listening,” she assured me and I took a deep breath.

“Jackson was also jealous of me because according to him, our parents always showered me with more attention, especially our father”

“Was this true?” She asked, her tone light, airy and soft.

“I don't know because I was always occupied with Alpha duties and warrior training, there was no space to think of anything else.”

She nodded as I spoke and I found myself telling her everything.

How some rogues had attacked the pack shortly after I took over and how I had been the one leading the warriors that day.

“I was at the frontline fighting hard not knowing that it had all been a trap.” I swallowed and paused for a bit to control my emotions.

“My father was ill at the time if you remember correctly so he couldn't fight and I realize now that Jackson would have never let him because the trap was for me. Eventually they overpowered me when our warriors retreated and I was taken with them.”

“Jackson came around to check if the job had been done and it was while they were conversing that I found out about their plans to kill me and how my own brother was the mastermind.”

“I'm so sorry,” she whispered with unshed tears in her eyes and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

Unable to sit still any longer, I got up and slipped my hands in my pocket. “You should rest now.”

“But the rest of the story..” she started to say but I cut her off.

“You'll hear it some other time,” I told her just as the door opened and Drevan walked in with one of my warriors. “Nyx, what are you doing here?”

She bowed and eyed Kayla briefly as she raised her head. “I came to see you. How are you feeling?” She asked, directing the question at Kayla even if her eyes remained on me.

“I'm fine, thank you. Callan can we…?”

I shook my head. “I'll see you later.” At the door, I stopped and turned to face her. “You're safe here not Kayla so you don't have to worry about anything. My home is yours,”

Kayla's POV Two weeks later….I was now back in Callan's packhouse with the rest of his people and warriors, men and women alike. After telling me part of his story at the hospital, he had been distant and I couldn't figure out why. Maybe he didn't trust me and I wouldn't blame him after all his own brother tried to kill him for power and fame. I was only a mere stranger, an outsider that married into his family so why would he trust me? I sighed as I closed the book on my lap and flung it on the bed. I had been on the same page all day, my conflicted thoughts making it difficult to concentrate on much else. What did I have to do to get Callan to trust me and realize that Jackson meant nothing to me anymore? What did I need to say to prove that I was loyal to him now and wanted Jackson's head on a steak as much as he did? Those were the thoughts that were plaguing me and I had still not made headway or come up with any solutions. I noticed the looks of doubts his Beta, Drevan

Kayla’s povAfter trying to prove my loyalty to Callen I still don’t feel comfortable that he trusts me enough and with the way Drevan stares at him I can tell immediately that he doesn’t trust me at all. I know very well that I have tried my best to prove my innocence but it might take time before they trust me. I looked around the room that was given to me and I was happy to see that Callen was doing great. In fact I was proud of him for coming that far all by himself. I couldn’t tell exactly what happened between both of them in the past but I knew very well that both brothers never liked each other. Then Jackson would always complain about Callen and how Callen wished to take his position from him until one day there was an announcement that Callen had passed away. I didn’t feel good about the announcement. I was a little relieved that my husband would no longer have any troubles with his position as the Alpha little did I know the kind of horrible person he was. I was so stupid

Kayla’s povSitting with Callen made me realize that everything Jackson told me about Callen was the total opposite of the kind of person Callen is. He’s nothing like what Jackson described him to be and I kind of regretted that I am just finding out. Seeing the way he treated me well even though I wasn’t exactly good to him in the past made me know that he’s really a good person and he didn’t deserve to be treated the way he was treated in the pack. “Why did you allow yourself to be trampled on back then?” I asked him curiously. “I didn’t allow myself to be trampled on, I just let everyone believe what they chose to believe. I know very well that even though I try to explain, no one would listen to me no matter how hard I tried.” I nodded my head when I heard what he said because he was really telling the truth. Hearing this side of his story made me feel guilty because I was one of those that didn’t believe him. I always thought that he was making things hard for my husband with

Callen povAfter my conversation with Kayla I realized she might have not been as bad as I thought she was back then, she just didn’t know the kind of person I was and she judged me based on what her husband told her about me. Seeing the way she was trying not to feel too guilty made me see a different side of her. But one thing I know for sure is that she’s not as weak as I think she is. While I was thinking about my conversation with Kayla Drevan walked in. “What’s going on? You look like you’re in a good mood.” He said to me with a bright smile on his face. I know that Drevan was not too sure about Kayla’s loyalty which is why I thought it’ll be better I tell him that I met with Kayla and we talked for a while. “I was just thinking about my conversation with Kayla.” The smile on his face slowly turned sour the moment he heard what I said about meeting with Kayla. “Why did you meet with her? Callen you know that you’re taking a big risk because this is the same person that celeb

Writer's povDrevan took it upon himself to find out if Kayla was really telling the truth by taking a trip back to the park, he went as a guest from a neighboring pack even though Callen was not informed. While he was leaving he told Callen he would be spending a few days with his mother and wouldn't return until after one week. “Why am I doing this?” Draven asked himself as he was driving to the other pack. After a very long drive he finally arrived. Drevan was surprised to see how much the pack had changed from the last time he sneaked into the pack. “He must have made a lot of money.” Drevan muttered to himself and got out of the car. He looked around and couldn't help but admire it. Seeing that Kayla left such luxury made him even more suspicious. “My suspicions are never wrong.” Drevan muttered to himself. “Who are you?” One of the guards asked him and immediately Drevan turned to look at the young man standing in front of him. “I'm here to see Alpha Jackson.” “Is he exp

Callen povI can’t believe he’s away when I need him the most, the investors are going to be here in less than two days and Drevan took a three day break. I couldn’t object because it’s his mother’s health and she’s like a mother to me too. It’s been more than five years now and it’s been both of us running the company together even though I am the CEO of the company. “Alpha Callen, I just got a call from Drevan he said he’ll be returning tomorrow.” I raised my head to look at Giovanni when I heard what he said, then I checked my phone again to see if it’s turned off because why would he call Giovanni instead of calling me. “Did you just say Drevan called you?” I asked to confirm if I heard correctly. “Yes, he called a few minutes ago.” Giovanni replied to me immediately. I decided not to create a scene, the good thing is he’ll be returning before the investors get here. I checked my phone again after excusing Giovanni from my presence. “Why didn’t he call me?” I asked myself whi

Writer’s povAfter hesitating for a while Kayla finally decided to join Callen just as he had requested. Meanwhile Callen was already seated at the dining table waiting for Kayla to join him, to his greatest surprise the person that joined him was Ella. He has told her several times to join him but she’s been rejecting so he was wondering why she suddenly took the initiative of joining all of a sudden. “Are you joining me for dinner?” Callen asked curiously. “Yes, aren’t you happy about it?” Ella asked with a bright smile on her face. She could tell that Callen didn’t look as pleased as she thought he would be to hear that she would finally be joining him on the dinning, but she pretended not to notice that he was not exactly pleased with her sudden move. “You’re free to join, I don’t know what’s keeping Kayla in her room.” Ella’s mood turned sour the moment she heard what Callen said even though she tried not to make it obvious. “Maybe she doesn't wish to join.” Ella replied to

Kayla’s pov“I want you to make sure that you stay far from my brother, he doesn’t need someone like you in his life.” I got confused for a moment when I heard what she said to me, what does she mean by that?“What are you talking about? What makes you say such a horrible word to me?” I asked her curiously. She turned back to look at me pointing a finger at me. “You think I don’t know what you are? I’m warning you because you would hate to see the worst I can do.” Ella said, sounding very upset, at first I thought she was being immature with her hatred for me, but seeing the way she was talking made me realize it was more serious than I could have ever imagined. She spoke with so much vim of hatred towards me, what on earth have I done to her?I couldn’t say anything. I watched her until she was finally out of sight. I stood in the same spot trying to think about what I might have done wrong to her, that makes her hate me so much. After standing there for a while I headed back to th

Kayla povI was still in the process of getting myself what to wear after my conversation with Sheila. We went back to find something that I could wear for the day but we still couldn't find anything. Just then we heard a knock on the door and Sheila immediately went to get the door.Callan walked into the room with some shopping bags. I thought he said he didn't like going shopping, surprisingly he's here with shopping bags which obviously means he went shopping today. “Hey.” I said to him with a faint smile on my face. Sometimes I see this very striking resemblance between him and Jackson but I just tried to overlook it, they are brothers after all so definitely they must alike one way or the other.Right now as he was standing in front of me I could tell I saw Jackson's face. That's how much they look alike.“Kayla.” He tapped my shoulder gently and I immediately snapped out of my mindless thoughts and raised my head to look at him properly and stopped thinking about Jackson.“Wha

Kayla's povFew days had passed and Callan and I were ready to move on with our plan of buying the shares from his father's company and also ruining the contract but the day hadn't come yet. Drevan had his boys tailing Jackson and making sure that we know about every contact he has with his business partners so that we won't miss the opportunity of ruining the contract. Based on their last meeting and the last information that we were given it states that today is today he is going meet with his foreign investors from China. They are not aware of who he is, they think he is a complete human, they don't know he is a werewolf so this is the golden opportunity that we found. No one in a normal world would want to have a relationship with someone that is not completely human so the Golden chance we were talking about is exposing his identity to the investors, that way they will not be able to invest in his new company and the contract will also be canceled.I woke up this morning feeling

Callan was pleased she thanked him because he thought that maybe she finally understood how important it was to have help, especially with her present condition.“So what is your name?” Kayla asked the Young curiously.“My name is Sheila.” “Nice name.” Kayla said as she was nodding her head with a faint smile on her face. “It's an honor to work here in the Pack house especially for someone that is special to the Alpha.“I promise it's nothing like that, he is just a nice person.” Sheila smiled when she heard what Kayla said to her. Kayla's povI didn't want memories from my marriage with Jackson to ruin my day. All I want to talk about today is how to take my revenge on him and the perfect plan that would make him go through worse pain than he made me go through.“Kayla right now what is important is getting back at him, stop thinking about the things that he did to you, think about what you can do to him to make him pay.” Callan's word was exactly what she needed at this moment; she needed someone that could help her boost her morale and make her understand that hurting Jackson is the best plan to go with. They were about to start with the plots when Drevan walked up to them. Callan looked at him and smiled because he knew that Drevan would be back.“I am not here because I trust you, I'm only here to help my friend with his revenge plan so do not even think anything has changed.” I was satisfied with what he just said as long as he is with us because he's the only one that can help with everything Callan is su

Writer's povDrevan looked at Kayla from head to toe and then he realized her pregnancy was progressing very well because the last time he was here belly wasn't this big.“I just asked you what are you doing here?” He repeated the question and Kayla immediately snapped out of her thought. She was wondering why Drevan suddenly came back to the pack house because it seems like both of them had a misunderstanding and he hasn't visited in a while.“I-i.. am here to see Callan.” Kayla stuttered. “Callan? You call him that? Don't you realize that he is the Alpha here so what makes you think you have the right to call him by his name without any honorifics?” “I am sorry if that upset you. I shouldn't have called him by his name like that.” Kayla apologized immediately. She was so upset because of the way Drevan was talking to her. But she had to keep in the anger so that he would allow her to speak to Callan who she is here to speak to.“Guess what, I visited your pack and I got to know a

Kayla’s povI still didn't feel like the plan was good enough because I do not want us to make any mistake and I feel like buying shares from the company might be a big mistake. “So when you buy the shares, what next? Because you need to take the next step.” I said to him because I don’t want him to make any mistakes. This plan of buying shares from his father's company could literally make him go bankrupt if things don't go well.“Yh, I know I have to get myself a back up plan but I need to make sure that I buy the shares first before any other person would.” I heaved a sigh when I heard what he said because it's a very risky step to take. I don't know how he's going to do it but we're definitely not going to be able to start this plan without a backup plan if anything goes wrong. Callan concluded by insisting that he would buy the company shares and start his revenge plan. No, I was more concerned about the contract and how we will be able to stop it because once it is stopped th

Kayla woke up very early because she had a little stomach upset, she didn't know if it had to do with the pregnancy or it's because she didn't eat enough last night. She stood up from the bed with her heavy belly and walked out of the room gently. The pregnancy symptoms were beginning to hurt even more because her belly was already very big. While she was heading downstairs Callan stepped out of his room and sighted her struggling to walk down the stairs because of her pregnancy.“Oh my goodness Kayla.” He rushed up to her and held her hand so that he could help her walk downstairs. Kayla was not totally happy about his kind gestures because she doesn't want it to give Nyx a different signal and make her think that both of them have a different relationship apart from just friendship. “I can help myself.” Kayla said to him, sounding very tired. “Obviously you can, I can tell from your voice.” Kayla rolled her eyes when she heard what he said because h
