Chapter 29 Terry Slaps His Sister

Terry's cool lips gently brushed my forehead. It was a brief, restrained gesture, like a passing breeze, and then he pulled away.

"Adrianna, don't push me away. I'll prove to you through my actions that I'm serious." His deep, soothing voice carried warmth as he locked eyes with me.

My heart began to race. An unfamiliar emotion swept through me, impossible to ignore. I had been alone for so long, drifting like a leaf in the wind. No one, aside from my son, had ever made me feel pure, untainted affection.

It made me want more, but I didn't dare to accept it.

"Terry, if you're determined to go mad, do it without me. I don't have time for your games." I shook his hand off harshly and turned, fleeing as fast as I could.

"Get some rest!" His low, rich voice followed me, even as I slammed the bedroom door shut behind me with a loud thud.
