The Annual Masquerade Ball is one of the most awaited parties of the school where they feel the excitement of meeting their lovers hiding in a mask. Others were up into the suspense it brought to their first and last dance. They must be so excited about this that's why we have to work hard and meet their expectations.

As soon as my class ended, I went straight to my office. I called a meeting for us to plan for the upcoming Masquerade Ball and come up to different suggestions. The good thing about my officers is their creativity and support.

After the planning, they went to the Gymnasium to check the area while here I am still arranging the piled papers and reports to be done.

"Hey, aren't you gonna go home yet?" Lily asked the second she gets into here with Jordan.

I shook my head before meeting her sight. "No, I still have to go to the Gymnasium," I replied, she nodded in understanding.

"I will wait for you then," Jordan suggested but I refused.

"I'm fine, Jordan. Let's just meet tomorrow," I insisted and gave them an assuring smile. As much as I wanted them to stay and wait for me, I can't because they have their own lives too.

"See you tomorrow, take care!" they hollered when they were already out of the room. I gave them a dismissive wave of my hand until they lost out of my sight. I groaned in frustration and crumpled some scratch papers on the table as I saw the amount of work I needed to finish.

Being a student body president is really not easy. If only I could resign any moment from now, I would gladly do it. I thought having this position would be fun, like walking along the halls and everyone would head up onto you. Students will see you as a role model and you can control them but I just thought the opposite. This must be the worst!

I started picking up the forms and other reports and piled them in the cabinet near my table. I coughed when the dust spread all over the area as I put down the papers. Maybe I should clean this area sooner. I might get into asthma because of this. I quickly composed my posture and dust off my dress then continued what I am doing until I heard a sudden knock on the door.

"Ms. President, the area is already cleared and everything is ready for decoration. The volunteers are there also," she said peeking on the wooden door. I silently laughed at the way she acted. She can enter my office either way. She's acting as if I'm going to eat her when she gets in.

I cleared my throat while putting down the last pile of papers on my table before giving her sight. "Great! I'll go there any moment from now," I said, giving her a smile. She nodded before turning her back.

The halls were already quiet and peaceful when I got outside the office. There are few numbers of students passing by which I think the majority of them are volunteers for the preparation. Soon after, I reached the Gymnasium.

"Amber!" Steph, one of the officers, waved her hand to me.

I moved my steps closer to her and asked for updates. She is responsible for informing me all the details for the program since I assigned it to her.

"We have already formulated a plan for the decorations. The dance club started hanging off the cloth for a backdrop," I scanned the area and there I saw some guys crossing the cloth on the wall. "And the basketball team was ordered to get the other decorations in the principal's office," she continued.

I nodded and instructed her to continue what she was doing. She returned to her group who were cutting some colored letters which was actually good to see. While they are doing their own jobs, I took the chance to search for a seat where I could place my bag. I also wanted to help the group of Steph because that's the least thing I could do for now.

"Could someone please hand me a scissor?!" a guy from above dangerously holding a blue cloth asked.

He was lying on the metal ceiling, still holding the cloth. I scanned the area but everyone was busy doing their tasks and seems like they haven't heard him asking for scissors.

"Where's the scissor?" I looked up to ask him.

"On the ladder beside you!" he yelled back.

I swiftly look for the scissors and take a few gulps realising what I just did. I offered help to the man located above, so basically I must take the ladder to hand it to him. Oh! How stupid, Amber!

"Can you please make it fast? I'm dying here!" he demanded exaggeratedly.

"How could I hand it to you? Should I throw it in your direction?" I dumbly asked, causing him to hiss.

"Are you stupid? Take the ladder!" Now, he sounds annoyed. "Faster! Before I would die here! I swear, my soul would hunt you!" he snapped.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. He's overreacting! I want to drag him down here! But he also got the point. I would surely do the same if I'm on his position. "I'm coming! Just wait!" I shouted in annoyance.

I nervously took one step but took it back down. I might die here just because of a scissor! I slowly looked upward and there I met the furrow brows of the man above. I groaned in frustration while holding the scissor and tried a new step.

"Are you going to hand that to me or play in the ladder all the time?! I swear, my soul will hunt you!" I made a facepalm before irritatingly yelled back.

"Shut up!"

I don't know where I pulled out my confidence to reach this far. I am two steps near to the top and would finally hand this thing to him.

"Hey, faster!"

I tightened my grip to the steel ladder and shot him a deadly glare.

"Don't pressure me! I'm dying here, okay?" I answered between my pounding chest. I would seriously treat myself if I could go back down complete and alive.

He didn't dare to talk back so I took one deep breath before reaching the top. My whole nerves were shaking inside as I thought of standing on the top of the ladder without someone or something to hold on. I might slip my foot here, fall down and break my bones or splatter my blood on the ground.

"What are you waiting for? Hand it to me now!" I rolled my eyes and bit my lower lip, taking my view on him.

"Is this safe?" I nervously asked.

He released a playful smile before answering me. "Try it for you to know, just be careful," he answered.

Now, I am doubting if I will continue the last step.

"I'm choking here, make it fast!" he exaggeratedly coughed exposing the blue wide cloth hung on her neck down to his back.

I wanted to go back down but I can't let him die there also. So I closed my eyes and heaved a loud sigh before taking my step. My knees were shaking as I forced myself to stand upright. This was my first ever near-death experience and I swear to pull off his hair if I can't land back safely.

"Congratulations for reaching the top!" he mockingly laughed before pulling off the cloth to his body.

I shot him sharp stares as I realised that he is only tricking me. "You're not choking?" I asked in disbelief.

"Of course not, I just need the scissor to cut some wires here," he said wiggling his brow.

"You moron!" I shouted, causing him to laugh.

"Hand that to me so that you can get back there," I didn't bother to answer him, instead I stretched my arms to hand him the scissor.

His location is a little distant to mine so I need to tiptoe still with shaking nerves.

"Can you extend your arms a little more? I can't reach you," he demanded. I can't stretch more 'cause I might fall down this guy might be an idiot.

"I can't," I thrifty said.

"Just try once more, okay?" I rolled my eyes and followed his order. I tiptoed again but my feet trembled causing me to lose my balance.

I closed my eyes between my shout and silently prayed that I could be reincarnated after having this broken bone and splattered blood.

Goodbye world, it was nice knowing you.

No Marcus with me eating breakfast, lunch or dinner is such an empty lonely day," I pouted."Oh, how sweet of you Amber. Maybe no more than a week, I'll be back.""That's great! "Hello?! Is anybody here? Can someone hear me?!" I yelled so many times near the door. Hoping for a miracle to happen. I searched for things which could at least help me escape here but I only saw scissors. I forced myself to insert it on the locked door but accidentally slipped causing my hand to have a little cut. When I failed, I chose to sit on the floor. What if someone hasn't heard me. All the students on the campus were already resting themselves comfortably on their home. And all I can do is to wait here until tomorrow morning. I will sleep here all alone with flying insects or rats running nearby. Gosh! I'm getting paranoid. I stood up and kicked the door making my feet hurt. I don't know what I should be concerned about first. Either my growling stomach, my wound or how to escape here. I shouted once again as loud as I could. I don't care if my veins would be cut off or my voice would turn hoarse. My desire to escape here prevails. But… I see no hopes here.Maybe I shoul

The next day, I asked Lily to have lunch with me. I can't eat well in dining alone, it feels boring and empty. For the past few days at home, I ate only a few and sometimes asked our housemaids to eat with me at the table. With much presence around me while eating is better."Amber!" Lily greeted as soon as she arrived here in the cafeteria. She planted a kiss on my cheek before putting down her books and bag on the table."I missed you, Lily!" I exclaimed, grabbing her hand to sit beside me.She groaned a little when her waist bumped on the table. I smiled sheepishly and gave her a peace sign. She rolled her eyes then hugged me tight."It's been a year or a decade since we last met," we laughed when she said those words in sarcasm. She pulled herself away from me. My lips instantly curved when he cupped my face."That must be very itchy. Do we need to call your doctor?"Uh-oh. Doomed."No need Jordan, she's fine. I already checked her. I'm hungry, can we have our lunch?" Lily said, holding Jordan's arm. He pulled himself away from me and stood up straight."Sure. Let's get in, my treat," he answered. Lily and I exchange stares. • Remember Me, Aly    Chapter 15

As soon as I arrived at home, I immediately plopped myself on the couch. I removed my sneakers then placed my feet on the center table. This day is tiresome. I leaned my back on the seat, massaging my temples. How was it possible to feel all the tiredness when I arrived here? I haven't felt this earlier in the Gymnasium."Ma'am Amber, Sir Marcus wants to talk to you." Charie, standing right next to me cooed. I was tired going upstairs just to answer his call. Why won't he just call me on the phone."Can you please tell him to phone me instead? Thank you," I replied, still in closed eyes. Her presence suddenly lost. Maybe she's heading her way upstairs, to the library where the telephone was. Just a few minutes later, I received a call from Marcus."Hey," I lazily greeted."Are you fine? You sound sick," he chuckled on the other line.&nb

  • Remember Me, Aly    Chapter 16

My day went smooth, I did my normal routine as a student. Attend a class, study in the library and eat together with Lily and Jordan. No Celestine and the two nuts. No Blake in my sight. No stress, everything went alright.I think I was brought to the old times where I entered the campus peacefully and full of positive vibes. Just a wonderful day to be thankful for.Afternoon came and the school had a small number of present students because of the weather. Cold cloudy day with a touch of a wind, swaying the green leaves of trees. Maybe this was what Marcus was saying last night.I went to Gymnasium to check the situation and the people working there. I scanned the area, only a few of them who were present."Amber!" Carla waved her hand to catch my attention. I smiled at her. Way back then, Steph greets me like Carla does. How I miss her presence."Y

Though it's hard for me to wake up this morning, I still did my best to force and convince myself to stay awake. I promised them last night that I will attend my classes today and I'm fulfilling it now.I was in the middle of eating my breakfast in bed when I felt a sudden spinning. Then, I reached for my hot chocolate and took a few sips on it but after a moment, my stomach flips, I am feeling puking once again.I hurriedly jumped off on my bed and ran in the bathroom, positioning myself on the sink, puking out. It's really gross. Food poisoning seriously hit me so bad. Dizzy, I turned on the faucet and gargled water to release the sour taste then washed my face afterwards. Am I really going to school? Could I do it today in this condition? I might puke in the middle of our class. That's a total disgust. I questioned myself and weighed the situation. If

So earlier, we ended up staying all together in my room except for Dad who was at a business meeting. I convinced them to do their own thing for me to rest but they chose to stay in my room for the whole day; staring and watching over me. It was too much for a care. I appreciated that so much. Sometimes, I laughed out of nowhere while looking at them blabbering incessantly.Funny to think that the three of them planned to sue the canteen where I brought the spoiled food. I know they were serious about that so I pleaded them not to and just inform the seller instead to make their food better next time. It would be a misfortune for them if they'd continue filing a case though I'm still alive here."Where's my daughter?" My eyes instantly widened when I heard Dad's loud voice echoing around the house. I instantly ran back outside the house while covering my ears because I can't bear the noise. It was like the waves of sound travelled in my body inviting all my internal organs to jump making me feel a bit headache and dizzy.Blake laughed at me so hard that time. I told him that I won't get in and would go back home if he'd push me to get inside the house. So, we ended up staying our ass off in the garden together with some basketball players who were drinking alcohol. It was gross when I saw some party goers puking on the side.
