Eric POV

For a brief moment, I felt sorry for Louise. I felt guilty that we had shared a meaningless night of sex. Meaningless to me, but apparently, she had some sort of feelings for me. I feel guilty for that, but it does not change my mind about Julia. She is my fated mate, and the one for me.

Quickly wiping her tears, Louise looked at us angrily, realizing she had shown her vulnerability. “You will stay here,” Elizabeth said quickly. I looked at her in surprise, but she ignored my look. I knew she would want to do something, since this had started with us. Louise’s situation was not our fault, but Elizabeth protected all those in her kingdom. And with a pup involved, she would include Louise under that protection.

“I will not stay here,” Louise replied. “You need someplace safe,” Cami started to say when Louise interrupted her, “Shut the fuck up! You have ruined everything!” she yelled. Cami remained calm, “I did no

Julia POV Louise had been contained, albeit reluctantly. Elizabeth had returned to her office shortly after escorting Louise from the room. “She is going to stay, and I have convinced her to think of the baby she is carrying. The baby is innocent, and my hope is she will think about that before she leaves,” Elizabeth relayed. “She cannot leave with that baby,” Cami started to say when Elizabeth cut her off. “I will do everything in my power to keep her here, but I will not make her a prisoner. For now, Julia will stay away from the palace, so that we can keep Louise calm. She has some questions for you, Cami. Questions about the baby. I suggested she get some rest, and you would visit her later. I admit I felt a little bitter at the thoughts of being banished from the palace for the time being. But it was a small price to pay for the safety of the baby. I could not imagine Cami becoming a mother, but her passion for this

Julia POV We raced through the night to the location the officer had told Eric they were waiting for us. I felt a sense of nervousness, almost as if foreboding what was to come. Cami glanced my way, “You okay?” she asked me. I nodded, “Something feels off,” I told her. Eric and Jackson both looked at me. “What do you mean?” Eric asked. “I do not know. Just something does not feel right,” I shared with them uncertain what was going on. “Perhaps we should go back?” Jackson suggested. “No! We have to get Fred and Mary out of that situation,” I said to them. I could not leave the elderly couple in the hands of whoever had them any longer. Eric looked at me before replying, “We will go, but we all stay together,” he said. I agreed, “I think that is the best plan.”. “We also have our warriors with us. We will have some strength in our numbers,” Jackson added. Cami and I sat back. I felt Cami take my hand and squeeze it.

Julia POV “My dad? I do not know my dad,” I commented. “He has been watching you for many years. Who do you think sent us to retrieve you?” Fred said. Retrieve me. What was I? A dog? “Well, you cannot retrieve me. I have a mate; I have a life here,” I said to them calmly. Much calmer than I felt. Inside my stomach was churning. “She will not be going anywhere,” Cami said strongly. Mary laughed as Fred scowled at her. “You fucked a lot of things up. The rogue was sent to retrieve Julia the night you were attacked. You surviving the attack was a disappointment. Clearly you have healing powers of your own that prevented your death,” Fred said. Cami shrugged as I looked at her. What else did I not know about my friend? It did not matter now. I was grateful she was alive and with me. I still felt Eric prodding to get into my mind, “How many are in there?” Eric demanded angrily. “There are three that I can see,” I

Julia POV “Not on my watch,” the voice said as the witch was tossed across the room. I saw her try to scramble to stand up, but she had been injured when she had been tossed. As she hit the wall, Cami was freed from her frozen position, and Jackson leapt forward to catch her before she fell. I felt Eric beside me, as I turned to look behind me. I was confused to see Elizabeth standing there with another small, blonde woman beside her. The stranger’s hands were raised, and she was waving her arms in the air similar to Cami when she cast a spell. I heard the witch scream, and my head whipped around to see her being bound by golden cuffs.“You cannot do this,” the witch screamed. “I can and I have,” the stranger said as she stepped towards us. Cami moved forward and hugged the stranger, “I have never been so relieved to see you,” she murmured to the woman as they stepped apart from one another. “What is going on?” I asked.“Julia, meet my cousi

Eric POV I watched as Julia sparred with Carter. He was not going easy on her and she was holding her own. It killed me to watch her have to train this hard, but it was the only way she would be able to learn how to defend herself in her human form. Her wolf would help her but was limited unless they were in wolf form. There was also the looming threat of her father. We had talked late into the night about how she would like to meet her father. I can appreciate her need for familial connection. I am simply concerned this is not the right time. And I am concerned about her father’s intentions. If he went to this much trouble to try and acquire her, it does not bode well for his intentions. And how is he connected to the witch, Henrietta? So many questions. We needed our own seer. Someone who could see the future for us. But they were hard to come by, and we had not had success in finding one for the Kingdom.

Julia POV I looked to Eric in surprise. He put his phone on speaker phone and nodded to me to speak. “Hello?” I replied. I heard a swift intake of breath from the other end of the line. “Julia?” I heard come out in a somewhat strangled voice. “Yes. Who is this?” I demanded. “I am your father, Julia,” the man responded. “How do I know this is even real?” I asked. I had no connection to this voice. No immediate sense of recognition. No feeling like I was talking to a parent. “I understand you have questions,” he started to say when I interrupted him. “Questions? I have more than questions. I have years of wondering where the hell you were. Years of wondering if you even knew I existed. My mother never mentioned my father, so how do I know this is not some sick game for you?” I asked, as my voice cracked. A small part of me wanted to believe there was someone out there who I was related to. But not like this. Not rel

  • Rejecting the Prince's Mate   Chapter 71 - Danger

Eric POV My body tensed and I stepped in front of Julia to protect her from whoever was in front of us. I watched the woman move forward towards Julia, but I held my hand out stopping her in her tracks. “Do not come any closer,” I cautioned her. I had no qualms about killing this threat. “Julia,” the woman said softly. I glanced at Julia to see tears streaming down her cheeks. What the hell. Who was this woman? “It is not possible,” Julia mumbled as Cami moved forward. “What kind of joke is this?” Cami demanded angrily. “Who is she?” I asked tersely, needing to know what we were dealing with. “My mother,” Julia responded in a strangled voice. I looked between the woman and Julia and could see the family resemblance. But how was it possible? She died? Didn’t she? “You are an imposter,” I said angrily, moving towards the woman. I would not have Julia hurt more than she already had been. “Do not come an

    Julia POV “Why is that any different than what we already knew?” I asked, confused and angry at the situation we were in. I was in shock, I knew that. My mother was alive and standing in front of me. And all I could feel was bitterness and resentment. I should be rejoicing in her being alive, but I felt nothing but betrayal and hurt. “Guardian wolves are rare; a healing Guardian wolf is even more rare. We can heal other wolves as well as humans,” the man claiming to be my father stated. “That is a good thing. We could help many people,” I stated, unclear what the problem was. “Julia, sweetheart, you do not understand,” Eric started to say when I cut him off. “So, dumb it down for me, Eric. What is the problem?” I demanded angrily. Eric sighed, “If you heal too many people, you will die yourself. Once people realize you can heal wolves as well as humans, there are corrupt wolves who would sell you to the highest bidders;

Eric POV “Julia!” I yelled, as I raced to her side, catching her before she hit the ground. Her body was lifeless, but she had a heartbeat. I lifted her quickly and started to run with her, “Hold on baby, just hold on,” I kept saying to her, repeatedly. I needed her to fight to stay alive. I arrived at the hospital with the medical team waiting. I knew Jackson had called ahead; I was focused on getting to the hospital. I felt Cami and Jackson around me, but I could not focus on anything but my mate. I placed Julia’s body on the bed gently and followed the team racing towards the emergency room. “Prince Eric, it is best if you wait out here,” the head doctor said. “No fucking way,” I said as I moved around the doctor and entered the room. There was complete chaos. Orders were being yelled out; actions were being taken. I realized what looked like chaos to me was actually organized chaos. These professionals knew what they

Julia POV “Julia, I am sorry,” Laura started to say. I held up my hand, “What are you sorry for? Just say it,” I said, as Eric stood beside me. “Yes, do not delay on our account,” the middle woman stated. Laura growled at her, and I stood in shock. She growled. How was that possible? “What are you?” I asked her, as she looked back at me. “It is difficult to explain,” she said when I cut her off, “Well try,” I said angrily. “I am a hybrid wolf, but my wolf is dormant,” Laura stated. “You just growled, how is it dormant?” I demanded, feeling a sense of betrayal, I did not know was possible. “I was born with the gene of a wolf, but my wolf is too weak to shift, so we never have,” she shared. I simply stared at her trying to process her words. “So, you knew you were a wolf, and that Lincoln was a wolf, but you never thought to mention it to me?” I yelled. “Oh, this is getting good,” the tall witch said. “S

  • Rejecting the Prince's Mate   Chapter 102 - Intentions

Julia POV “What?” I questioned as I slowly turned my face to look at the woman claiming to be Martha. “She is crazy,” the woman stated but Laura continued to hold onto my arm tightly. “She was the one who just told me to get Lincoln released,” Laura claimed. I removed Laura’s hand from my arm, moving to stand in front of her. Jackson had already moved in front of Cami and Beatrix, while Eric tried to move in front of me. I saw Cami put Beatrix in her bassinet, and then turn to move beside Jackson. He tensed in anger, but did not take his eyes off the woman standing in front of him. “I am Henrietta’s twin. Of course, I look like her,” Martha stated, sounding more bored than anything. “You never said you were twins,” I murmured as I noticed Cami’s fingers moving from the corner of my eye. I said nothing but continued to watch Martha. “It did not matter. I want her captured as much as you do,” she replied, looking at her nai

Julia POV We left Cami and Jackson shortly after Martha went to her room. There was much to be done, and I wanted to check on Laura. We entered our place, when I heard a scream come from Laura’s room. We raced in, just in time to see something disappear in front of Laura. “What was it?” I demanded as I went to her, trying to get her to focus on me. I could see the fear in her eyes. “It was her,” she whispered. “Who?” I asked, getting her attention on me. “That witch. She was here and she threatened me. She promised she would kill me, if I did not help her get Lincoln free,” Laura said in a whisper. I looked to Eric, who nodded and turned away from us. He quickly turned back, “He is secure,” he stated, confirming that Lincoln was still in the dungeons. I nodded, looking back to Laura, “He is not free,” I assured her. “She is going to keep coming to me, until I give her what she wants,” Laura said, fidgeting with her hand

Eric POV We shared everything Lincoln had shared with us, before we put the baby down to sleep in the bassinet and continued to strategize how we were going to counter the attack from Henrietta. “I need to call in some backup,” Cami murmured as she continued to watch the baby. “Do you think they can help counter Henrietta?” Julia asked. Cami looked to her, “This is the most powerful witch, next to Henrietta. If anyone can fight her, and win, it will be this witch,” Cami replied. Nodding to her, “Then call her,” I suggested. Cami stood and made the call. Within minutes of her standing, there was this loud sound that seemed like a freight train was landing in the living room. Jackson immediately swiped the baby up in his arms, as Cami stood back, as if she knew what was happening. I pulled Julia closer to me as we all simply waited. Suddenly there was this flash of smoke, and as the smoke cleared a tall woman,

Julia POV After leaving Lincoln and his haunting words, we went back to see Laura. I was surprised to see her sitting up in her bed, sipping on a glass of water. She had looked afraid, until she saw me and relief lit up her face. I moved closer, holding out a hand towards Laura. She put her hand in mine, and I felt a moment of peace. Like this was the mother I had remembered. She had tears in her eyes, “I know who I am,” she said, as if she had come out of a trance. I smiled, as tears shone in my eyes as well, “I am glad; I am really glad,” I responded before moving towards Laura and hugging her for the first time since she came back. Laura held on tightly, and we just held each other as tears streamed down our faces. “I am sorry I was not stronger,” she offered, but I stood up wiping her tears away, “You have nothing to be sorry for. Lincoln is evil, and he took advantage of you,” I assured her. “I should have known better

Eric POV I watched as Julia showed the warriors various techniques to counter her attacks. They were very cautious with her, which I appreciated. It did not stop me from worrying. I saw her rub her back a few times and asked if she needed a break, but she scowled over at me, rendering me silent.Carter was taking notes and developing plans for the warriors to fight one another in their training. I knew it was helping, I just hated that this was Julia’s destiny. I was incredibly proud, but I wanted her to be safe. Inside the palace with our pups. But I knew she would be on the front line, and I would be beside her when the fight did come. And it would come; it was just a matter of when. Julia provided her last words of training for the day and moved towards me. She was tired, I could easily see it in her face, but she would not give an inch. I wanted to carry her home, and put her in the shower, but she would pretty much destroy me if I even

Julia POV I watched Cami come forward, with the baby wrapped up in a soft blanket. Cami had her cuddled close to her chest. I wanted to move forward to hug her, but Jackson was there first. He wrapped his arms around Cami and the baby girl. He kissed her forehead, before looking at the baby. “She is beautiful,” he commented, as Cami nodded in agreement. “She is special. I can already feel her power,” Cami murmured. We all knew what that meant. Another child that would require our devoted attention to protect her. “Have you thought about a name?” Elizabeth asked. Cami looked to Jackson, “I had thought about Beatrix; it means she is blessed and brings happiness,” she replied, waiting for Jackson’s opinion. He paused for a moment before looking to the baby. “I think Beatrix is a perfect name for this little angel,” he replied as Cami moved closer into his arms. I felt tears fill my eyes at the beautiful nam

Cami POV “One more push, Louise. One more, and your baby will be born,” the doctor said, gently encouraging Louise through another contraction. Louise slumped back, “I can’t,” she said, as tears rolled down her face. I held tightly to her hand, “You can do this, Louise. You are strong,” I said, encouraging her. I could see the pain of the contraction starting once again, Louise sat up and pushed one final time. Within seconds, the doctor cheered, “Good job, mom. Your baby girl is born,” the doctor said, as I wiped the tears streaming down my face. I knew she was talking to Louise, but I could not help the instant love I felt for this baby girl. The doctor lifted the baby for us both to see. Louise held her hands out, wanting the baby in her arms. The doctor started to move forward when Louise slumped backwards. The doctor passed the baby girl to me, as she tried to revive Louise. “What is happening?” the doctor shouted, a
