“What does that mean? You are rejecting me?” Julia asked. I felt a pain in my chest, but I knew this was the right thing to do. “You do not belong in my world; please accept this so we can both move on,” I reply. “No,” she replies. “No?” I ask confused how this human could refuse my rejection. Eric is the Prince of the Wolf Kingdom. He is on a quest to find his fated mate. But when he finally finds her, he learns she is human. And he cannot accept a human for a fated mate. Or can he? Challenges along the way test them in ways they could not imagine. Note - this story can be read as a stand alone; it is the continuation of the Rejected series for those wanting to read in order.

I took my seat while Jackson stood by the chair where Cami and Beatrix were sitting. “It is not an easy answer,” Elizabeth starts to say as Cami gasps, her grip on Beatrix tightening. Elizabeth stepped forward and took a seat on the table directly in front of Cami. She reached out and touched the baby in Cami’s arms before looking to both Cami and Jackson. “I have worked out an arrangement,” she started to say when Jackson cut her off, “What kind of arrangement?”. “One where you get to keep Beatrix, for the time being,” Elizabeth said. I gasped, realizing that Cami may not get to keep Beatrix. I had assumed because she was here, she was theirs. I had forgotten about the witches who wanted Beatrix. “That does not sound good,” Cami stated as she rubbed the baby’s back. Jackson had his hand on Cami’s should
Eric POV I held Julia in my arms for hours. I never stirred and as if sensing the need for this time, the pups did not stir either. I heard the doctor enter the room, “Prince Eric, we wanted to check on your mate, before we sign the release documents,” she said softly. I looked at her in surprise, “So soon?” I asked. “It is incredible. I ran the labs a short time ago, and she was already healing much further along that we would have expected. I suspect she has a strong wolf, who was able to take over once we had done all we could,” the doctor stated. I looked to her for a moment, before turning my head back to Julia. “You did it sweetheart,” I whispered as the doctor left me to wake my mate up. I leaned forward, kissing Julia’s lips softly. Moaning in her sleep, her arms wrapped around my neck, pulling me closer. Our tongues slid over one another, tasting each other, reconnecting and celebrating us. As our kiss deepened
Julia POV I laid there silently watching my family. Eric was asleep in the chair beside me. He was slumped over the bed, with his arm around my waist. I could hear the little satisfied sounds babies make when they first wake up. I loved that they were patient enough to wait for their daddy to wake. I lifted my arm, it was heavy and shaky, but I moved it to place it on Eric’s head. Playing with his hair, as I waited for him to wake up. I knew all that he had gone through was horrible. Watching me being rushed to the operating room, our babies being delivered without him being there. Waiting for me to wake up. It had been a long couple of days, but I finally opened my eyes. I did not think I would ever close them again, for fear of missing something. As my fingers moved through Eric’s hair, I felt him stir. I recognized the moment he realized something was different. He slowly turned lifted his head, look
Eric POV I watched as the twins were wheeled into Julia’s room. I went to her and told her that her babies were waiting for her. I kissed her warm lips softly, before stepping away to help set the twins up. It was late, and I wanted to get the twins settled before I stepped over to watch over Julia. Both twins fussed for a couple minutes but quickly settled after they had a bottle. I kissed each child, “Your mommy is going to be with you soon; I promise,” I murmured to them both. The nurse looked to me, “Would you like me to stay?” she asked quietly. I looked to her, “No, thank you for everything you have done,” I responded as she nodded and walked from the room. Everyone had left, as I had requested, so it was just the four of us. I could hardly grasp everything that had happened today. From finding out Henrietta had been under our noses all along. To having the twins arrive, to almost losing my mate. I did not care what
Eric POV I watched Julia fight to survive; I held my breath waiting. The intense sound of the alarm signalling death was unnerving. I started to turn away, my heart in my throat, ready to crumble to the ground. Suddenly there was a faint blip in the sound. It did not fully register with me until I heard a second … and then a third. I heard a gasp from one of the medical team, “She is alive,” they stated. “Barely. We need to get her to the ICU. Finish stitching her up, and then we will move her quickly,” the doctor said. I watched in disbelief as they prepared Julia for the ICU. “Is she in any pain?” I asked, alarmed at everything that was happening around me. “We do not know; we will give her something to help just in case,” the doctor assured me. I watched as they finished and rushed Julia to another area. Realizing I had forgotten about our pups, I turned to see them being wheeled away, “Where are you taking them?” I as
Eric POV I paced the floor outside the operating room. All that flashed through my mind was the moment I met Julia, to where we were today. All that we had been through and the future we had left to live. There was so much to be said, so much loving to be had. I saw Elizabeth and Carter enter the waiting area, and it just raised the level of stress for me. Seeing everyone gathered, tears in the women’s eyes, was just one more indication of how bad things were. I stepped further away from everyone, needing a moment to myself. As I stood there, I contemplated what my life would be like without Julia. And the pain caused me to stop thinking that. She would live. I knew she would. She had to. As I turned towards the operating room, I heard the cry of a baby. I held my breath, knowing that was one. As I waited, my heart started to sink until I heard the scream of a second baby. Everyone around me moved forward, congratulatin
Eric POV “Julia!” I yelled, as I raced to her side, catching her before she hit the ground. Her body was lifeless, but she had a heartbeat. I lifted her quickly and started to run with her, “Hold on baby, just hold on,” I kept saying to her, repeatedly. I needed her to fight to stay alive. I arrived at the hospital with the medical team waiting. I knew Jackson had called ahead; I was focused on getting to the hospital. I felt Cami and Jackson around me, but I could not focus on anything but my mate. I placed Julia’s body on the bed gently and followed the team racing towards the emergency room. “Prince Eric, it is best if you wait out here,” the head doctor said. “No fucking way,” I said as I moved around the doctor and entered the room. There was complete chaos. Orders were being yelled out; actions were being taken. I realized what looked like chaos to me was actually organized chaos. These professionals knew what they
Julia POV “Julia, I am sorry,” Laura started to say. I held up my hand, “What are you sorry for? Just say it,” I said, as Eric stood beside me. “Yes, do not delay on our account,” the middle woman stated. Laura growled at her, and I stood in shock. She growled. How was that possible? “What are you?” I asked her, as she looked back at me. “It is difficult to explain,” she said when I cut her off, “Well try,” I said angrily. “I am a hybrid wolf, but my wolf is dormant,” Laura stated. “You just growled, how is it dormant?” I demanded, feeling a sense of betrayal, I did not know was possible. “I was born with the gene of a wolf, but my wolf is too weak to shift, so we never have,” she shared. I simply stared at her trying to process her words. “So, you knew you were a wolf, and that Lincoln was a wolf, but you never thought to mention it to me?” I yelled. “Oh, this is getting good,” the tall witch said. “S
Julia POV “What?” I questioned as I slowly turned my face to look at the woman claiming to be Martha. “She is crazy,” the woman stated but Laura continued to hold onto my arm tightly. “She was the one who just told me to get Lincoln released,” Laura claimed. I removed Laura’s hand from my arm, moving to stand in front of her. Jackson had already moved in front of Cami and Beatrix, while Eric tried to move in front of me. I saw Cami put Beatrix in her bassinet, and then turn to move beside Jackson. He tensed in anger, but did not take his eyes off the woman standing in front of him. “I am Henrietta’s twin. Of course, I look like her,” Martha stated, sounding more bored than anything. “You never said you were twins,” I murmured as I noticed Cami’s fingers moving from the corner of my eye. I said nothing but continued to watch Martha. “It did not matter. I want her captured as much as you do,” she replied, looking at her nai
Julia POV We had been through some rigid training in preparation for tonight’s event. Our uniforms had been provided by the palace. Not the sleezy type you might expect. Everyone wore black pants and black blouses buttoned to the top button. We had name badges in a variety of colors indicating what you were responsible for. Cami, my best friend, was leading the waiter staff, so she was bronze. I was leading the dessert chefs, so mine was red. We had finished getting ready. Everyone with longer hair had to have it up. We both looked one another over to ensure a hair was not out of place. We had been advised if we did not adhere to the rules, we would not be permitted entrance. And we wanted to be inside that palace. To see all those beautiful people dressed in beautiful gowns and tuxedos, would be overwhelming in a good way. We had never seen such glamour before and may never get the opportunity again. Smiling at one an...
