After my realisation of the tunnel, we all wasted no time heading towards my father's pack to see if there was indeed a tunnel linking the old cellar and that bunker. Even Darren was tagging along, he said he’d been looking at that map for ages and hadn’t been able to see a tunnel, he felt it was his right to see it and asked to join. None of us wanted to waste time having a back and forth with him, so we agreed, him and Alpha Aidan going in one car, Archer and I in his and my family in wolf form heading for home.

With my arm rested on the car door watching as the many trees wizzed by, I couldn’t help the swirling questions that littered my brain. Mostly surrounding these flesh eaters and why it was only me who could battle them off, when Archer had told me what the King had said, I think we all assumed he was talking out of his ass in order to grasp at any straws to get me to return to the palace with him, but now to learn that maybe what he was saying held some truths, I couldn’t

The sound of my heartbeat continuously beats in my ears the closer I walked towards the entrance of the cellar, Hadwin looking back at me with the same look knowing what must be going around my head. I came to a stop right at the top of the staircase, the vast emptiness of cellar below only allowing me to worry that much more. “If you two don’t feel comfortable going down there, you could wait topside.” My dad said once he too saw both Hadwin and I hesitating a little, I wish he would have seen the times we were like this growing up but with everything, I knew I couldn’t hold that over his head. Even though I wanted to take him up on his offer more than anything, deep down I knew what Archer had said in the car before was correct. This place has been the subject to some of my most awful nightmares, whenever I think about what happened to my mother, I’m always transported back to this spot where I’m filled with such fear that I almost pass out. If I agree to wait up here, it’s as

None of us went to move or even talk for the first few seconds, the long and dark tunnel in front of us taking each person off guard and pushing us into a stunned silence. I know I had seen this tunnel on the map, and it was the sole purpose for our journey here, but I hadn’t quite planned ahead if we were to find it. The same sounds from the secret bunker back at Archer’s pack filled my ears, the dripping water hitting the hard concrete floor echoed all the way here, offering me the freighting images of what may lay deep within here, if Darren was able to learn of this place, who else or what else for that matter could have stumbled across it. Now I knew about these flesh eaters, my once determined mind to walk into any situation without thinking about the consequences flashed from my mind. “I was not expecting that.” Alpha Aidan says from behind us all breaking the silence, whilst Archer lifts up the torch in his hand and begins to shine it along the wall, even the surrounding w

My feet remained glued to the floor under me as Archer’s father Alexander and I hold each others eye contact, he was the last person I thought I was going to see today even though Theo had warned us of his plans for a visit. This meant I truly didn’t know what to do. “Miss Fern Hewitt! Haven’t you grown since the last time I saw you!” He called over to me in a mocking type of voice, his comment breaking me from my thoughts and such an odd sinking feeling to take over my body as I notice the many others stood behind him as backup. Within mere seconds, Archer along with Emmett, arrived at the scene to witness what I had. Before I could blink, a hand is placed around my waist, and I’m soon pulled back, Archer’s towering body shielding me from the smirking man at the other side of our border. His entire body shaking with uncontrollable rage, this was the first time he was seeing his father after that frightful day in December. “Don’t you ever look or speak to my mate ever again!” Ar

Once I had given my own terms, the area grew silent as each person ingested my words and attempted to formulate a plan on how to deal with me. It was clear from what Theo had told us and the glances I saw the woman in front of me make to Alexander, she didn’t like him as much as the rest of us and wanted him gone to get her son, but she also knew not having him to protect the pair when they return home would be very dangerous. I would have normally, taken this into consideration but after everything that’s happened and all of it seeming to be linked with this man in front of me, I wanted answers and from where I’m standing, it seems as though Alexander may be the only one who has them. If he’s in our custody, I can ask him anything that I want and have my men force him to answer them all. The longer the area drew silent and not a single person went to move or talk, the more I felt the anger from Archer behind me grow. “I am aware none of you have any real responsibilities with t

As I looked down at little Theo who still held tightly onto me, the conflicting feelings I felt about what to do with him and Rebecca rushed around my head at such high speeds I thought I was about to pass out. It would be easier for me to simply let go of Theo and watch as he and his mother leave our border and head back over to the life they have lived for years, but it’s a life I worried they would no longer be safe in. It was clear how much Rebecca hated Alexander, she would have much rather kicked him out years ago to not only keep herself safe but also her son. But the one thing which Alexander could offer them was protection, each other rouge around would have known Alexander used to be a very powerful Alpha, he’d be able to defeat any of them without even breaking a sweat. This meant her and Theo would have been left alone, but now Alexander’s gone, they need to fight alone. “She’s a rouge Fern; it’ll be very unlikely she’ll accept your offer to join the pack.” Archer mi

A few weeks had passed since Theo and his mother began to reside at our pack, their house was built with ease and each day, a pack member leaves food and other supplies they may need in a box outside of their house. Just to see Theo running up and down the field without a care in the world makes me so happy, he no longer has to stay away from the house due to his father not having time for him. But now he’s here and not out there, he also doesn’t have to worry about some other bloodthirsty rouge setting their sights on him, he and his mother are now free but also, safe. The earliest memories that a person holds should be some of the most treasured, perhaps a little picnic that you and your family went on, a wanderer's day out that brings you such immense joy whenever it pops into your mind. But for me, my earliest memory is of pain and despair, it's my earliest yet my most agonising memory that I hold. When I was only a young child, our peaceful little pack was attacked one night by the infamously cruel Dark Warrior Pack. They not only took us for everything that we had but took one of the purest people to grace this earth. The one person who sacrificed her own life to save that of her children. My feet skipped along the frozen cobblestone path leading from the pack house, my mind consumed with excitement for what this day would bring. The freezing temperatures of winter pricked my rosey cheeks as I skipped, along with my breath emitting an icy cloud of mist, I couldn’t help the giggles that escaped my lips. “Fern hunny, please put your cardigan on

That night I stepped out of the pack house and into the pitch black, my father had just given me the rundown of which traps needed to go where and what I should look out for. But as he spoke, all I could think was how I had the easier job, I just had to stand there and make sure no one from The Dark Warrior Pack find us and if they did, alarm everyone so we can get out of there. As I took a deep breath in, I couldn’t help but feel a slight sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, but it wasn’t one of dread or panic, but full of anticipation. It was as though deep down in my being, I knew something was going to happen tonight, something life changing. I shook the feeling off and put my game face on, my father was trusting me to get this done and I couldn’t let him down. “Alright, the Alpha wants this done as efficiently as possible, we need to be in and out of that place before any of them can blink, you got it?” I ask looking at all the fighters that would be executing this job wi

After taking some moments away in the fresh air in hopes of calming myself down, Archer and I walk back into Aidan’s office where Darren was now skimming through an old looking book on the desk, everyone else huddled around to get a look for themselves. “Are you okay hunny?” My dad asked turning around to look at me with a look of concern, sighing with a little smile whilst Archer stood beside me with his hand over my waist I nod. “I’ll be alright, I just needed some air to calm my worried thoughts, these past few months have been a lot for me and well everyone, I just needed a time out.” I explain happy that my father cared about me to ask but knowing it wasn’t just about me, according to Darren, these things have been able to kill so many innocent people! “Darren is showing us the book he claimed the story to be in.” Alpha Aidan explained as Archer and I joined the group of people huddled around the desk, whilst Darren hurriedly flipped through. “Here it is! Once the term flesh eaters left his lips, the fear that had somehow appeared in the pit of my stomach remained but also, much confusion along with it. I believe I knew a lot about our world, the vampires, sorcerers, Lycan’s and even hybrids, but I had never come across a term such as that before. “Flesh eaters?” I ask hoping he would be able to explain more and not simply throw a name around and expect us all to understand, where Darren only sighs once again. “Yes, Flesh Eaters, they are a hound of creatures who stalk many areas of the unclaimed territories and capture their prey to well, do what their name implies.” He explains still not giving us a whole lot of answers, before the images I had seen back in the tunnel that I didn’t fully understand clung to my mind. “And why have none of us ever heard about these flesh eaters, if such a creature is known to stalk our borders, we would surely know about it.” Alpha Aidan said cutting in whilst I took myself back to the tunnel and
