Alpha Carter POV As we walk down the hall and take the stairs down to the main lobby, we see Stan and Kinsley waiting for us. “You look beautiful, Elizabeth,” Kinsley says. Stan nods, “Stunning,” he adds. “As do you both of you,” I reply hold Elizabeth’s hand tightly. “Let’s get started,” I say to everyone. Stan and Kinsley walk through the open doors ahead of us. We wait a moment for them to get to the head of the aisle. I then look down at Elizabeth, “Ready to become my Luna?” I ask her. “I am more than ready,” she replies as she looks up at me. The love I feel for this woman is overwhelming. I kiss her lips gently before standing and opening the doors to the ceremony. We walk through the crowd of people. Everyone was excited to see their Alpha with his Luna. The Pack had high hopes for us and were excited to be part of the ceremony. As we walk through, I nod to Pack members as Elizabeth does to the ones on her side. Everyone feels spe
Elizabeth POV I was standing helplessly watching as Carter approached Tamara. As she was being escorted out of the ceremony hall, I caught the glint of something. I looked up and saw Alpha Matt standing there with his sights on Carter’s back. “Carter, look out!” I scream but it is too late. I see his body ricochet as the bullet hits him. He is trying to say something to me, but I cannot hear. I jump from the stage and race to his side catching him before he can fall. Instead, he falls into my lap. I see blood trickling out of his mouth. I put pressure on the wound on his back, screaming for a doctor. All the doctors are standing around me doing nothing. “What the hell is wrong with you all?!?” I scream as Alpha Matt moves forward. He is aiming his gun at everyone standing ready to help. “They are too afraid Luna,” he sneers at me. I nod to Stan to come and put pressure on the wound. He does so immediately. I stand and take a
Elizabeth POV I quickly drop the Alpha to the ground as Ashley bounds out of the hall and jumps into the mix of destroying rogues. I can see many running away, but those within our range are being destroyed as we encounter them. Most are in awe that they are seeing a silver wolf, much less that they are being killed at her hands. I see a couple rogues attacking one of my warriors. Ashley races over and rips one off her, ripping their head completely off. She then continues her attack helping warriors who have become injured during their fights. “We will focus on more training,” she murmurs in my mind as she continues to fight and help the warriors within the Pack to win the battle. As the rogue bodies accumulate, I look around for any injured wolves. I see one female down and I run over to check her injuries. I roll her body over and gasp. “Kinsley!” I scream as Stan comes running over. He picks her up and races to the Pack hospit
Elizabeth POV It had been a long night. Carter had slept fitfully. They kept administering pain medication, along with medication to counter the effects of the silver in his blood system. I was focused on being positive, talking to him, assuring him everything would be alright. The Pack doctor had been in multiple times to update me on the arrival of Dr. Thomas White. I wanted to know more about him but my lack of a phone and inability to really research left me at a loss. Most people would have already googled him. I did learn he works on both humans and wolves. Wolves is his specialty as he is also a wolf. It is rare to see a wolf working in the human world successfully, but he obviously makes it work. Hearing a flurry of activity, the door to Carter’s room swings open. I turn slowly, and I am surprised at the good looking, younger man standing in the doorway. He looks in the room, “I know. Many people expect me to be much older,” he sa
Elizabeth POV Once Thomas finished his assessment, he went to bring in the Pack doctor so we could discuss the next steps. “What we have is a significant chance of paralysis, given the time the silver has been lodged in his spine. My goal is to remove the bullet, and hopefully with some luck bestowed upon us by the Moon Goddess, it will not be as bad as I anticipate,” he offers to us. My heart sinks. I know Carter will be devastated if he is paralyzed. I do not know what that will even mean for him. It will be hard for him to remain an Alpha of the Pack if he is paralyzed. I cannot believe it. I will not accept that for him. “What about what I can do to help?” I ask wanting to do whatever I could to help my mate. “I need to read the book a bit more, but it seems to me the legend says a silver wolf being present can counter the effects of the silver bullet. Or silver poisoning if that is what had happened,” he says. “I have never heard of th
Doctor Thomas POV These Pack hospitals frustrated me. They had not advanced themselves as doctors to know current trends or opportunities in managing silver or wolfsbane poisoning. As such I was facing a critical challenge with the Alpha and his current silver exposure. And this was a bigger Pack. With smaller Pack hospitals it would be an even more dire situation. Because the Luna is a silver wolf right now is largely what I am banking on to help save her mate. I walk out of the office I had been using and see a couple nurses standing at the counter. They give me their best smiles and come fuck me looks. I smirk at them. It was not the first time I had been hit on and I knew it would not be the last. I had enjoyed my share of women but right now I was focused on saving this Alpha. I walk into the Alpha’s room and not surprisingly I see the Luna sitting with him. She is holding his hand and I can hear her whispering words of encouragemen
Elizabeth POV I walk down to Kinsley’s room quickly. I tap on the door, but I hear nothing, so I walk into the room quietly. I see Stan slumped in the chair beside Kinsley’s bed. She is strapped to the bed so she cannot harm others or herself. I can see she is sweating and duck out to ask a nurse to come and put cool clothes on her body. “Once she has cooled back down, change the sheets and ensure she is comfortable at all times,” I say disgusted that I would have to remind the staff to do so. It was like they had already written her off. I walk over to Stan and touch his shoulder softly. He jumps afraid he missed something. He sits back down quickly putting his face in his hands, “Luna, I am sorry. I should have come to you,” he says as he looks up at me. “How is Carter?” he asks. I fill him in on Carter and the possibility of helping him. “That is great news. I wish I could say the same, but right now, I do not know what else
Elizabeth POV We were rushing in to do the surgery for Carter. My heart was in my mouth as I tried to remember everything Thomas had told me. I would need to wait until he extracted the silver bullet from his spine before entering the operating room. He wanted as few people and germs present as possible during the various stages of the operation. I paced impatiently waiting for my turn to support Carter. I had been praying to the Moon Goddess incessantly since they wheeled Carter away from me. Before they took him away, I had a few personal words with him. The most important was how much I loved him. How much I needed him to survive for me. Whatever happened we would deal with together. I knew he was the strongest person I had ever met and if anyone could fight this, he could. The doctor coming with the antidote for Kinsley had not arrived yet. Her flight hit a delay, so she was behind schedule. It was adding to the tension surrounding the
