I hold my breath. What was the secret they were trying to keep? They looked at one another and then my father says, “We do not need a Pack to belong to. We are okay going rogue,” he says taking my mother’s hand and trying to turn and leave.

“What? That’s it? You say you have some long-lost love for me, and you refuse to tell me the truth?” I demand of them. “We cannot discuss it,” my mother says sounding oddly stronger than she has all along. “Cannot or will not?” I ask feeling tears of frustration rise inside of me.

“Guards,” Carter calls out. Suddenly there were four guards surrounding us, “Take them to the dungeons. Keep them in separate rooms,” he says as my father tries to drag my mother away. “No, we cannot be held. We need to leave,” my father says angrily.
