Chapter 59 - Lies

Elizabeth POV

I look at my parents and I catch my mother’s eye. She looks terrified but gives me a subtle nod before my father takes her arm and her attention from me. I watch them sit down, before looking back to Alpha Matt. He looks confident seeing my parents in the room. That causes me concern, but I have no other choice but to listen to what he has to say.

“You all need to be aware that this Omega slave … Elizabeth … is no regular she-wolf. She is a silver wolf,” the Alpha says pausing for effect. There were gasps in the room, as my face went red. Carter tightened his hand on mine, giving me comfort knowing that many in the room fear silver wolves.

“She shifted earlier than most of our young shift. When she did, she was massive. Her parents were terrified and called me immediately. Of course, a Pack member was in distress, and I went to their aid,” he says as if he was some kind of hero. What he is recounting is not what I remember.

Alpha Carter POV I am caught off guard when Elizabeth jumps up beside me. “Lies! All Lies!” I hear a raspy voice as I realize Ashley has come forward. I believed it would happen. There were too many discrepancies with the story Matt is weaving. Nobody could believe this fool. Surely to Moon Goddess this was an open and shut case. I stand beside Elizabeth wanting to help manage Ashley if things escalated. Not that she was not in control; however, Matt had been pushing her buttons wanting to see a display that would cause fear among those present. “You know you were not there when I shifted. I did not kill any warrior and I most definitely did not need to be contained. I was in complete control,” she says with anger and pain laced throughout her words. “There you see – she is here. She has taken over Elizabeth’s body. Everyone be afraid, be very afraid,” he yells trying to cause panic among those in the crowd. There are a few ru

  • Rejected   Chapter 61 - Hidden

Elizabeth POV I am struggling to keep control of Ashley. She is pushing me to shift, “Elizabeth, give me control and we can get out of here!” Ashley screams in my head. “We cannot leave, Ashley. Leaving will imply guilt,” I share with her knowing that is what Alpha Matt is hoping for. “We are not safe here,” she whimpers in my mind. “Trust Carter,” I say to her as Carter continues to hold my hand understanding the struggle I am experiencing with Ashley. Suddenly new people enter the room. They look like warriors, but they are not our warriors. They immediately race to the front of the room and circle me and Carter. As I stand there, I start to recognize the men surrounding us. And my heart plummets. Things start to quiet down, as Diane is asking what the meaning of these warriors is in being here. “I brought my own warriors for my own protection,” Alpha Matt says as he looks confidently on at me. Waiting for me to break. Diane gasps in ra

  • Rejected   Chapter 62 - Verdicts

Alpha Carter POV With everything that was happening, the council wanted to keep the hearing going. They felt they had enough evidence and wanted to make some determinations of their own. Everyone was made aware of the charges. The inappropriate abuse Elizabeth endured over her years as a slave at Red Moons Pack. The kidnapping attempt of Elizabeth. And the accusations that Elizabeth had murdered Elder Timothy in cold blood. While we did not get into that enough to be certain she would be cleared, I had to trust the Moon Goddess now that we had a chance to clear her name. Once I got her back the first thing I was going to do was mark her. Not being able to communicate with her was killing me. I paced waiting and hoping there would be some quick decisions. But that did not happen. That meant there were many discussions being had behind closed doors. I had the Omegas bring food into the area for those who could stomach food. I could not.

  • Rejected   Chapter 63 - What Next?

Elizabeth POV I roamed around the territory I found myself on. There had been nobody who came running when I breached the area, and I could scent no rogues. Perhaps it was a safe zone for wolves. I did not know but I knew I still had to be on my guard. I had to be certain I could protect myself. Or rather Ashley could protect us. I stayed in wolf form. Without clothes I felt vulnerable, and it was not necessary to be in human form while we searched for shelter. The further we moved away from the Crescent Moon Pack, the sadder and more depressed we became. Ashley whimpered in my mind. She was missing Max, Carter’s wolf. The two of them were starting to get closer. With Ashley getting stronger every day, she was starting to be able to communicate with him more. She had been building a bond with her mate. “What should we do Ashley?” I ask. I do not want to leave, but I do not want to be put in the dungeons. I felt the threat of

  • Rejected   Chapter 64 - Repercussions

Alpha Carter POV I see Elizabeth coming out of the tree line and I race from the room and towards her. I hear people calling my name, but nothing stops me from getting to my mate. “You came back,” I say to her as I pull her tightly into my arms. “Ashley brought us back,” she murmurs as she holds onto me like I am her lifeline. I lean back putting my hands on her face, “I am so proud of you both,” I say as I kiss her slowly, softly. Leaning my forehead against Elizabeth’s, “Everything is going to be okay,” I say before we hear yelling.Elizabeth POV Alpha Matt is commanding his warriors to get me. I tense up as Carter steps in front of me. “Stand down,” we hear Jackson yell out to the warriors. Like Diane, he has authority over all wolves and can stop them from being commanded by their Alpha. The warriors suddenly stop confused as to what to do. “Looks like the slave wins today,” one warrior smirks as the others chuckle. It hurts

  • Rejected   Chapter 65 - Parents

Elizabeth POV I stood there staring at Carter as my parents gasped in surprise at this generous offer. Carter continued to look at me. “I believe this is the right thing to do,” he murmurs to me trying to get me to see he was right. “I do not want them here,” I say bitterly. “Elizabeth,” Carter starts to say before I cut him off, “No. They were not there for me. They are not the same people to me,” I say angrily. How could he expect that I would welcome them with open arms? “Okay,” he says quietly hugging me close to his body. “I will see if Kyle an accommodate them. I will not see your parent’s become rogues, Elizabeth,” he says as he turns to my parents pulling away from me. “Give me a few minutes, to make arrangements for you,” he says to them while kissing me before stepping away from us. I feel ill standing here with them. I learned to hate them over time. Like I had hated everything about my existence when I was at the Red

  • Rejected   Chapter 66 - Answers

Elizabeth POV I hold my breath. What was the secret they were trying to keep? They looked at one another and then my father says, “We do not need a Pack to belong to. We are okay going rogue,” he says taking my mother’s hand and trying to turn and leave. “What? That’s it? You say you have some long-lost love for me, and you refuse to tell me the truth?” I demand of them. “We cannot discuss it,” my mother says sounding oddly stronger than she has all along. “Cannot or will not?” I ask feeling tears of frustration rise inside of me. “Guards,” Carter calls out. Suddenly there were four guards surrounding us, “Take them to the dungeons. Keep them in separate rooms,” he says as my father tries to drag my mother away. “No, we cannot be held. We need to leave,” my father says angrily. “Too bad. You know something that will help my mate, you will tell us or die keeping your secrets,” Carter says coldly. The guards take bo

  • Rejected   Chapter 67 - Royal

Alpha Carter POV Royals. Elizabeth was of royal descent. What did that mean? “What happened?” I asked as I stepped further into the room wanting to keep her mother talking. She was lost in that moment of time. Her eyes had glazed over. “We were suddenly attacked. Someone from the inside had let the attackers in. They were killing our Pack members by the dozens. Nobody had a chance to escape,” she says quietly. “Your father and I knew of a secret passage within the castle that would take us underground and out to the rogue territory. Nobody else knew about the passageway. We felt like cowards running but we had you to think about, Elizabeth. The next heir to the throne,” she says lost in the past. “We watched from the rogue territory for days. Watched as our kingdom was destroyed. It was taken over by the evil family who currently runs the kingdom,” she says. “How did you end up at the Red Woods Pack?” I ask again. She looks at me star

  • Rejected   Epilogue

Elizabeth’s POV The past six months had been a rush of emotions. Watching CJ grow was unbelievable. He was growing fast already walking. He was ahead of the normal schedule of children, but we have realized our boy was special beyond what we could even fathom at this point. We loved him and would keep him a child as long as we could. Stan and Kinsley had a beautiful little girl. She was two months old. CJ loved little Leslie from the moment he saw her. He always went to see her before anyone else got a chance to say hello to her. He always touched her face softly giving her little kisses. We all joked wouldn’t it be cute if they were mates when they grew up. Eric had not found his mate yet. He had just returned home from a two-month search but with no luck. He was still hopeful, but I could tell he was somewhat disappointed that his search had not yielded him success yet. I kept encouraging him as best I could even to the point of suggest

  • Rejected   Chapter 181 - A King is Born

Elizabeth POV I had been in labour for a while now. I had started pushing an hour ago. I knew I was having a big baby boy, but I do not think anything prepared me for this. Ashley was throwing all her strength into me. I was getting exhausted and angry. Carter was both amazing and annoying at the same time. His words of encouragement were endearing, but I really wanted to punch him in the nuts so he would have a sense of how ridiculous his words really were. The past few months had been a whirlwind. I had survived the two weeks of bed rest. My mother had brought me a lot of things to work on during that time. And I was healthy and given the nod to go back to regular activities with normal precautions. Before I knew it the time had flown by and here, I was birthing my first pup. The rate I was going this could be my last one. “One more push, my Queen,” the doctor says encouragingly. I take a deep breath and push with all my might. With th

  • Rejected   Chapter 180 - Slow Down

Carter POV I gently pick Elizabeth up in my arms. “Elizabeth,” I repeat but she does not respond. There are snarls and cries of pain as I turn to see what is happening. The two sisters are fighting. The warriors are standing by ready to jump in to assist the former Queen. But all respect her need to fight her sister for all that she stole from her. I watch helplessly as I see Elizabeth’s mother toss her sister in the air. As she comes down her mother reaches for her aunt and slams her into the ground. All you could hear was a yelp and the crushing of bones. “How dare you ever think you had a right to destroy my life! How dare you steal a child from her parents! How dare you steal so much from my mate! You deserve so much more but it is time for you to die!” the former Queen yells. Her sister is begging for her life, but the former Queen will hear nothing of it. She moves forward and places her sister’s head in her hands. She starts twist

Elizabeth POV “You!” I scream. I am staring in shock at the person in front of me. “Where did you come from?” I demand as I move to cover Carter’s body. He was defenceless and I would not sit back while someone attacked us. “Surprised to see me?” the person asks. “I am surprised you are still alive,” I say as I move into position in the event they attacked. Moving towards me, “But daughter dearest, I have missed you,” she replies. “You are not my mother,” I spit at her. “My someone is feisty,” she says with a smirk. “Who knew you had it in you?” she asks. “You knew all along,” I say to her. “What kind of sick monster does what you did?” I ask her. “I would like to know that myself,” a voice from behind me says. I turn to see my mother and a group of warriors behind me. I turn around and smirk at the woman in front of me who has managed to get closer to me. “The kind of woman who was sick of her sister getting everything she wanted,” my a

  • Rejected   Chapter 178 - Names

Elizabeth POV The last two weeks had been a blur. We had an amazing feast the night of our coronation, and then we were in the whirlwind of handing over responsibilities for the Kingdom. Carter and I were both sitting in my office on the couch that I had brought in. I had my feet in Carter’s lap as he rubbed them. “Mmmm that feels good,” I murmur as my eyes half close. We had just finished another gruelling day of learning and needed a few minutes to ourselves before we went to supper with those who lived in the Palace. We had started that last week. Carter missed having meals with his Pack, so we started that tradition. Those living within the Palace loved the idea and had embraced being a part of a bigger family. It did not mean everyone joined every night, but it gave people options. The cooking team loved it as well. They got to serve people more than just waiting for a special event. Carter starts to massage up my calve m

  • Rejected   Chapter 177 Royal Shift

Alpha Carter POV “I am back!” I hear in my mind. “Max?” I ask tentatively through our mind-link. “It is me,” he replies excitedly. “I am so grateful to have you back,” I reply. “Me too. Wherever I was it was a very dark and lonely place,” he shares with me. I want to hear exactly what he remembers happening but the Elder in front of me clears his throat. “May we continue Alpha?” he asks. I nod telling Max I want all the details. Knowing we were in the middle of a ceremony and his mate was beside him was enough to settle him. Having completed the transfer of blood, I take Elizabeth’s hand in mine and give it a squeeze. She smiles excitedly, knowing Max was back. The third Elder comes forward. “And now we will do the transfer of the crowns signifying the future,” he says as the King and Queen move forward. Each kneel before the Elder and their crowns are removed for the last time. Both are holding hands as the removal takes place. You c

  • Rejected   Chapter 176 - I'm Back

Alpha Carter POV As Elizabeth and I walked up the aisle, I could not help but become a little nostalgic. Thinking about where we had been to where we are now. Having overcome so many hurdles. So many things that seemed against us being together. But here we were … about to become Queen and King of the Kingdom. I had never aspired to become King. It had never been something I had remotely considered. Having met with the current King this week and learned more about what he did and the opportunities I would have to make a difference in the wolf community excited me. And now I felt like a fool for fighting so hard against it. I could feel Elizabeth’s small hand on my arm as we walked up the aisle following her parents. I could feel the stares and the excitement in the room for the future. For the next generation to take over. What I felt stressed about was my inability to shift tonight. The people present knew of my injury and were advised as
