Miranda POV My mother continues to unravel the first barrier as I simply stare at the mess in front of us. It was the signature of a powerful witch. A witch with psychopathic tendencies. She was strong. Her spells were as complicated as they could be. They wove into them little booby traps that would destroy anyone in its path. One wrong move and we would all be dead. “What?” Elizabeth asks. “This is not good,” I mutter as I move across from where we were standing to try and get a better look at what I was facing. “What?” Carter asks. I can sense their frustration building but I cannot take my eyes away from the masterpiece in front of me. If she was not so evil, she could have been an amazing asset to the Witches Council. “The spells. They are spells of an ancient witch. She is older than the warlock,” I share with them as I remain focused on the task ahead. There it is. I see the starting point straight ahead of me. I turn to look at
Miranda POV The four of us move forward removing spells as quickly as we can. The pressure knowing the King is suffering is adding to the tension surrounding us. I can feel the waves of pain coming from the building and know that the King is being tortured as we move in on him and Irene. Irene is a cunning witch. She will have a plan up her sleeve. We will need to stop her before she vanishes. I am uncertain how we can reach her in surprise, but we have to try. As we move towards the next barrier, Mark holds his hand up stopping all of us from moving forward. “We need to be smart about this. She knows we are coming, and she is focusing all her energy on what is happening inside of that building. She could very well kill the King before we get there,” he says. Turning to look at each of us, “Let’s split up. We can each take a path and come at her from all four directions. We cannot let her escape us once again. She will go underground, and
Elizabeth POV I lay there feeling my broken bones slowly start to mend. Ashley has been hit with a power we did not recognize. I lay there on the ground watching everything unfold around me. I see Carter rip the head off the witch’s neck. I see the green toxins flow in the place of blood. I see him crumble before me. I cannot make out what is happening. I see Miranda and the others trying to help Carter, but I see him pass out. I feel the moment I start losing my connection with him. I roll over trying to drag myself to him but can only go so far when I realize I am too broken to move. My fingers are digging into the earth, but I can no longer move forward. I try to cry out, but my breath is shallow. Something is restricting my lungs. “You need to calm down,” I hear a tired Ashley convey to me within our mind-link. “Carter,” I say to her, but she cuts me off. “Everyone is helping him. We need to help ourselves,” she reminds me as I rea
Miranda POV I am exhausted and look to Rick who opens his arms to me. He is my rock. I immediately feel the energy start to rise within me as I absorb his warmth. We stand like that in the hall of the hospital as the medical teams work to save Elizabeth and Carter. “You have done everything you could,” Rick murmurs to me knowing what I was thinking. “I hope so,” I reply as I close my eyes. Rick moves us towards a chair, and he pulls me into his lap. I rest my head on his shoulder ready to take a few moments to recharge my batteries. As I start to relax, I hear a flurry of activity coming from the entrance of the hospital. I stand as I watch the man with my mother carry a bloodied man through the halls in front of us. My mother was calling for help. One of the doctor’s from inside the room with Carter comes running out, “Goddess, what happened?” they ask as they call for nurses to come and help. Realizing it was their King in distress more m
Elizabeth POV Pondering the message from the Moon Goddess, I look up in surprise to see Eric entering my room on his own. “You are looking good, brother,” I say to him as I sit up in the bed. I cringe a little at the discomfort but manage to rise on my own. “What happened to you?” he asks as he sits down in the chair by my bed. “A punctured lung but I am on the mend,” I say to him. “How is the King and Queen?” I ask still not one hundred percent comfortable calling them mom and dad. “I do not know. Nobody is talking to me,” he says sounding frustrated. “What do you mean?” I ask concerned. I had no idea on my father, but was happening with my mother? “They do not know if father will make it,” he replies getting choked up. “And mother passed out when they got here. Nobody has said what is happening with her either,” he shares with me. I sit back and look straight ahead. Had I come this close to only lose them? I had not met my father yet.
Elizabeth POV I wipe the tears from my cheeks as I watch Carter’s vehicle depart. It has been three days since we had spoken about the future. I remember walking away from Carter as he yelled for me to come back. I could not grasp the meaning of what he was saying. He needed to get back to the Crescent Moon Pack. He was not a hundred percent better yet, but he was on the mend. He no longer needed the suction tube. He sounded like he had a bad chest cold, more than anything. I had not spoken with my mother either. My father remained in a coma. His wounds were slowly healing but certainly would take longer to heal. My mother continued to hold out hope his wolf would surface; however, the fact that the King continues to be healing slower than a usual high-ranking wolf, is indicative of the reality. I feel someone’s arms wrap around me and quickly accept that my brother is holding me offering both comfort and strength. “He will be
Elizabeth POV Seeing the wolves around us start to shift, Eric and I also shifted. I heard gasps from those who had not yet shifted. Seeing a silver wolf was apparently rare. There were some clapping excitedly. I felt uncomfortable with the attention. “Enjoy it, we deserve it,” Ashley says in my mind. I smile at her cheeky reply. We take off following close behind the lead warriors. There is a sense of panic among them, and I wonder why. Eric looks over to me, wanting to chat but knowing we could not as we could not mind link. I was not a part of this Kingdom. I did not know what the future held for me. We are racing through the forest when I get a sense that I am being surrounded by wolves. I look over to Eric and see he also is being surrounded by wolves. I realize they are doing this to offer protection for both of us. I feel a sense of anger but understand that this is what they are trained for. I cannot help pushing the
Elizabeth POV We raced back to the hospital as soon as the message came thorugh. I felt anxious at the thought of meeting my father for the first time. However, it was important to be there to see him. To see how he is and to learn whether he has in fact lost his wolf. I understood why it would be riskier for Eric to take over the Kingdom; it simply did not stop me from considering the implications to my life if I were to take over. We reached the edge of the forest and quickly put our clothing on. Fortunately, Eric had messaged for our clothing to be left there so we could get to the hospital faster. We ran the rest of the way, arriving in the entrance out of breath slightly at our hurried efforts. The waiting area is quite quiet. A mother with a young child is there waiting to see a doctor, but other than that nobody is around. We nod to the mother and child, before making our way back towards the entrance to our father’s room. I pause for
In case you have not seen it yet, Eric's story is called Rejecting the Prince's Mate. It is part-way finished and proving to have lots of ups and downs, as you would expect ;)Hope you enjoy the story as much as I am enjoying writing it.Here is a brief summary of the story“What does that mean? You are rejecting me?” Julia asked. I felt a pain in my chest, but I knew this was the right thing to do. “You do not belong in my world; please accept this so we can both move on,” I reply. “No,” she replied. “No?” I asked, confused how this human could refuse my rejection.Eric is the Prince of the Wolf Kingdom. His older sister returns from the dead in time to save him from having to take over as King. Now he is on a quest to find his fated mate. But when he finally finds her, he learns she is human. And he cannot accept a human for a fated mate. Or can he? Follow along as Eric and Julia fight their need for one another. Will the Prince reject his fated mate or will true love wi
Good day Everyone I wanted to share a quick update. I am working on the draft for Eric's story and expect to start it the week of May 6, 2024. I hope you will be as excited as I am to write the story. His will have a couple interesting twists but suffice to say he will find his mate. The question ... will he accept her :) After that we will see where we go but I do want to write the stories for the pups after they are grown. Any feedback is always welcome. Let me know if you are excited to read the story or follow me on my socials to get updates. Ellie xo
Elizabeth’s POV The past six months had been a rush of emotions. Watching CJ grow was unbelievable. He was growing fast already walking. He was ahead of the normal schedule of children, but we have realized our boy was special beyond what we could even fathom at this point. We loved him and would keep him a child as long as we could. Stan and Kinsley had a beautiful little girl. She was two months old. CJ loved little Leslie from the moment he saw her. He always went to see her before anyone else got a chance to say hello to her. He always touched her face softly giving her little kisses. We all joked wouldn’t it be cute if they were mates when they grew up. Eric had not found his mate yet. He had just returned home from a two-month search but with no luck. He was still hopeful, but I could tell he was somewhat disappointed that his search had not yielded him success yet. I kept encouraging him as best I could even to the point of suggest
Elizabeth POV I had been in labour for a while now. I had started pushing an hour ago. I knew I was having a big baby boy, but I do not think anything prepared me for this. Ashley was throwing all her strength into me. I was getting exhausted and angry. Carter was both amazing and annoying at the same time. His words of encouragement were endearing, but I really wanted to punch him in the nuts so he would have a sense of how ridiculous his words really were. The past few months had been a whirlwind. I had survived the two weeks of bed rest. My mother had brought me a lot of things to work on during that time. And I was healthy and given the nod to go back to regular activities with normal precautions. Before I knew it the time had flown by and here, I was birthing my first pup. The rate I was going this could be my last one. “One more push, my Queen,” the doctor says encouragingly. I take a deep breath and push with all my might. With th
Carter POV I gently pick Elizabeth up in my arms. “Elizabeth,” I repeat but she does not respond. There are snarls and cries of pain as I turn to see what is happening. The two sisters are fighting. The warriors are standing by ready to jump in to assist the former Queen. But all respect her need to fight her sister for all that she stole from her. I watch helplessly as I see Elizabeth’s mother toss her sister in the air. As she comes down her mother reaches for her aunt and slams her into the ground. All you could hear was a yelp and the crushing of bones. “How dare you ever think you had a right to destroy my life! How dare you steal a child from her parents! How dare you steal so much from my mate! You deserve so much more but it is time for you to die!” the former Queen yells. Her sister is begging for her life, but the former Queen will hear nothing of it. She moves forward and places her sister’s head in her hands. She starts twist
Elizabeth POV “You!” I scream. I am staring in shock at the person in front of me. “Where did you come from?” I demand as I move to cover Carter’s body. He was defenceless and I would not sit back while someone attacked us. “Surprised to see me?” the person asks. “I am surprised you are still alive,” I say as I move into position in the event they attacked. Moving towards me, “But daughter dearest, I have missed you,” she replies. “You are not my mother,” I spit at her. “My someone is feisty,” she says with a smirk. “Who knew you had it in you?” she asks. “You knew all along,” I say to her. “What kind of sick monster does what you did?” I ask her. “I would like to know that myself,” a voice from behind me says. I turn to see my mother and a group of warriors behind me. I turn around and smirk at the woman in front of me who has managed to get closer to me. “The kind of woman who was sick of her sister getting everything she wanted,” my a
Elizabeth POV The last two weeks had been a blur. We had an amazing feast the night of our coronation, and then we were in the whirlwind of handing over responsibilities for the Kingdom. Carter and I were both sitting in my office on the couch that I had brought in. I had my feet in Carter’s lap as he rubbed them. “Mmmm that feels good,” I murmur as my eyes half close. We had just finished another gruelling day of learning and needed a few minutes to ourselves before we went to supper with those who lived in the Palace. We had started that last week. Carter missed having meals with his Pack, so we started that tradition. Those living within the Palace loved the idea and had embraced being a part of a bigger family. It did not mean everyone joined every night, but it gave people options. The cooking team loved it as well. They got to serve people more than just waiting for a special event. Carter starts to massage up my calve m
Alpha Carter POV “I am back!” I hear in my mind. “Max?” I ask tentatively through our mind-link. “It is me,” he replies excitedly. “I am so grateful to have you back,” I reply. “Me too. Wherever I was it was a very dark and lonely place,” he shares with me. I want to hear exactly what he remembers happening but the Elder in front of me clears his throat. “May we continue Alpha?” he asks. I nod telling Max I want all the details. Knowing we were in the middle of a ceremony and his mate was beside him was enough to settle him. Having completed the transfer of blood, I take Elizabeth’s hand in mine and give it a squeeze. She smiles excitedly, knowing Max was back. The third Elder comes forward. “And now we will do the transfer of the crowns signifying the future,” he says as the King and Queen move forward. Each kneel before the Elder and their crowns are removed for the last time. Both are holding hands as the removal takes place. You c
Alpha Carter POV As Elizabeth and I walked up the aisle, I could not help but become a little nostalgic. Thinking about where we had been to where we are now. Having overcome so many hurdles. So many things that seemed against us being together. But here we were … about to become Queen and King of the Kingdom. I had never aspired to become King. It had never been something I had remotely considered. Having met with the current King this week and learned more about what he did and the opportunities I would have to make a difference in the wolf community excited me. And now I felt like a fool for fighting so hard against it. I could feel Elizabeth’s small hand on my arm as we walked up the aisle following her parents. I could feel the stares and the excitement in the room for the future. For the next generation to take over. What I felt stressed about was my inability to shift tonight. The people present knew of my injury and were advised as
