MITCH CHESTER

HE CAUGHT UP with them easily on the highway. His mother had taken an old model Volkswagen sedan, and she drove way below the speed limit.

Mitch chuckled and remained two cars her but he was on the alert.

After a long ride, his mother finally pulled into the parking lot and the children came down, hugged, and kissed her before hustling into the school.

Mitch parked opposite the street and watched as the kids met up with their friends as they entered the school. His mother drove out of the school lot a few minutes later, but Mitch remained.

After waiting for a few more minutes, Mitch brought out his phone and dialed Draco.

"Yeah?" Draco answered after the second ring.

"I just remembered to tell you; get some people to clean out my room. I want everything changed."

"Yeah, I didn't forget," Draco said. "The men that will fix the bed are from the human town. They will take some time to get here, but I have had some omegas take out everything else."

"Good,"

"But why the reno

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER THE NEWS OF vampires changed my entire plans. I did not want to risk Reine's safety and that of my children too by leaving the security of a pack - no matter how shitty the alpha is. I woke up at the crack of dawn and started to prepare to head out to the hospital. That was my life now. Sleep. Wake up. Eat. Work. Work. Work. When was the last time I shifted and went for a run? I wondered as I packed my hair into a towel and dried myself. The door opened and the light steps of Reine came in."Luna?" She called."In the room," I replied. She came into the room. "Good morning, Luna," She greeted."Did you sleep well?" I asked and immediately realized how silly that question was. Omegas rarely had a good night's sleep, but she simply shrugged and watched as I styled my hair and got dressed then she said, "There is very minimal activity in the hospital today,"I looked at her through the mirror. "What do you mean? Why?""Because of what happened yesterday," she replied

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER THE DAY PASSED very slowly. Clouds were heavy and gray like it was mourning with the pack. I had a late breakfast with Reine after the first ceremony. I was still angry with Marcus and even more with my sister. I was angry at the deaths of innocent people. I was angry that Rick was too blind and nonchalant to see the obvious; he and my sister were running my father's pack to the ground."We cut bond with the pack years ago," Ava said softly in my head. "Our family is in the mountain Alps of Alaska." I sighed and nodded. She was right, of course. But I could not help the feeling of despair and hurt I felt towards the situation of the pack. And I missed my children too. I sighed in frustration. "Do you need to sleep, Luna?" Reine stood at the door.I shook my head. "No, I'm fine," I muttered, but I wasn't fine."Let me put on a kettle for tea. It can help with the nerves," She said, hurrying into the kitchen.I brought out my phone and started to FaceTime Mitch so I

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER RICK WAS RAVING mad if he thought that threats would make me give him my children. I turned and tossed on my bed. It's been hours since he left, but my mind was still worried.I glanced at the bedside clock. Surely the children would be back from school now. I called Mitch on FaceTime, and he answered after a few rings. My sight was welcomed with the stunning sharpness of his chin and jaw."It's on vi-" I started to say."Hello, Anna?" He cut into me. "Hello? I can't-""It's a video call -" I explained."What are you saying?" He asked, confused. "I can't hear you.""Its. A. Video. Call." I said loudly and slowly."Oh? Oh..." he held the phone out and chuckled. "You should have said so at first. Hey." He looked even more handsome than I remembered. It felt like I had been gone for years instead of just. 2 months."Hey," I replied, returning his smile. He squinted and hunched forward. "You have eyebags," he said. "Have you been alright? Crying?"I scoffed and shook m

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER THE MOON ROSE quickly. It was not a full moon, but that didn't matter as every pack member trooped out of their homes when it was time. I stood at the window, watching them make their way to the cemetery. I was not an integrated member of the pack, so I decided to join them later. I waited for a few more minutes until the streets were empty before I walked slowly to the cemetery. When I got there, Rick and Draco were burying the long roots of the twilight ivy. Burying our dead with twilight ivy was a long old tradition that we practiced. It was believed that the plant would guide the lost souls to the moon goddess where they would find rest. Most other packs had a different variation of the belief, while some didn't do it at all. It often made me wonder if it was real.I leaned against a tree as the men proceeded to cover the soil with their hands. When the last one was done, Rick got to his hands and knees and shifted, ripping his clothes. His wolf looked to be

RICK FORSONAFTER RECEIVING THE call from the council a few days ago, Alpha Rick's mind had been divided. They wanted to use Anna to get to the Lycan, he knew how ruthless this new board of council was, they would do anything to crush their enemies - including using the children. His mind was divided because he knew he had to obey the council or else risk being an enemy of the werewolves too, but the feelings he had for Anna were coming back and he did not want her to get hurt again. Not by him. Not after what he did to her years ago when she was pregnant with his children. His children. The more he thought of them, the more he wanted to know more about them. When he could not keep the curiosity in anymore, he had gone to see Anna and asked her about the children. For a second, he had thought that she would suspect that something was off and that he was subtly stalling her for the council to get here, but then she had looked at him and he saw her face soften with pity and relaxed in h

RICK FORSONRICK AND JONES moved simultaneously, bounding towards the sound of the howl. The warriors flanked us as we rushed to the scene. I followed Anna's scent at traced her to the river near the southern border. They had not yet come out on the scene when the strong smell of rotting flesh hit their nostrils. "Do you perceive that?" Rick mindlinked Jones who grunted in affirmation. They jumped out near the river banks and saw 2 pale white men taunting Anna and laughing as they tried to wear her down slowly. There was another man writhing on the floor in pain. Draco's gasped in shock. "Are those...""Vampires!" Rick snarled. He immediately ran over, smashing into one of the unsuspecting vampires. "Octavio!" One of the vampires yelled before his head was taken off from his neck. The vampire Octavio turned and when he saw the arrays of werewolves running towards him, he became paler - if that was possible. He turned and zoomed off at blinding speed."Don't let him escape!" ANNA KYLIN CHESTER"YOU NEED A shower," Rick said to me, snapping my attention from the dead, withered corpse on the floor. I looked at him and nodded. "Feel free to use one in the pack house," he said. "It's got hot water too."Feeling too tired to disagree, I nodded again and walked out of the pack hall. The pack house - my former house - was just next door. The bathroom had undergone a renovation. Beth's idea, no doubt. It did not look like a bathroom for a family house. It was a bathroom more suited for a beauty spa. It had a jacuzzi, a hot sauna, and fancy soaps and creams. "Well, I'm not complaining," I chuckled, stepping out of the bathrobe and entering the steam sauna. I immediately felt myself relax as the hot water washed all over me. I never thought I would be happy to see Rick, but seeing him and the warriors of this pack answer my call made me almost cry in relief. I was almost a goner for sure, I could not have held the vampires back for much longer and I knew they k

IT HAD BEEN a cold night when he felt his consciousness return. His hearing senses returned first and the first thing that welcomed him back to the land of the living was the distant howling of wind. Slowly, the feeling or touch returned and he felt his fingers and toes, they had stiffened during the centuries of his sleep. They cracked painfully as he flexed them. He opened his eyes and saw nothing. His eyes were not awake yet. They were the last to return. He sat up, each movement came with the cracking of joints that had stiffened. Using only his ears and touch, he had made his way down the mountain, following the faint smell of blood that the wind had carried to him. When he had got to the foot of the mountain, just before he stepped out of the storm, he felt another person ahead of him standing a few feet away. By the smell, he knew that this person was a dog. A shaggy werewolf. With no strength for any confrontation now, he turned away and melted into the darkness."What can I

FIVE MONTHS LATER,I RUB my belly fondly. It has become a subconscious habit of mine since the belly bump sprouted. On some nights, I wake up from the nightmares and horrors of being locked up in the prison underground. It has been 5 months already, but the remnants of what we lost were still vivid. Every fallen warrior was given a befitting burial. After the death of the vampires, Paige started having recurring dreams of her lost memories. I had Lorna suppress it again. i also had Lorna wipe out the memory of Janet the mistress, now she was a servant in the palace... "Are we almost there yet?" Addison asked from the back seat. Mitch grunted. "Almost." I turn and look at him. The scar he had gotten from the battle that ran across his eyes was now white, it was healing well. The cut missed his eyes by less than an inch, but the scar added to his dangerous look. I reach out and touch his hand. He turns and looks at me, but I can not decipher what is going on in his head as his eyes

MITCH CHESTERAS HE TORE through the vampires, his eyes wavered back, and he looked at Anna. He could not believe she was nearby again, even as all the odds were against him all this while. Arranging the warriors for battle on such short notice was not an easy feat as most of his warriors were not familiar with guns, but he had made them ready and prepped for battle under a few hoursHe grunted as a vampire sank his fang into his arm. He growled grabbed the vampire by its head and slammed it into the ground."Keep your head in the fight, Mitch," Draco snapped. "Don't die when she is just a few feet away."Mitch chuckled. He turned and looked at his mate again. She was holding her own well against the vampires surrounding her and Alphonso."Do these things ever finish?" Mitch asked, looking around at the vampires still swarming over the field."We have to take out the elder vampires, or Vladimir himself," Draco said, stabbing a vampire dead on the floor. He shook his spear loose and lo

I saw Lorna clench her jaws in pain as Agatha squeezed her blood into a cup, which she mixed with some herbs and gave to Vladimir. He drank it all in one gulp. Dark red veins streaked up his neck, and his eyes went bloodshot. She walked to me and added, “I will offer the life of the reincarnated grand witch, Annika, and use it to bind the soul of the vampire king, giving him immense power and immunity to the mountain ash wood…““I heard her raise her hand. The air stretched with tension, and time seemed to slow down. I opened my eyes, expecting to see my life flash before my eyes, bu

ANNA KYLIN CHESTER“COME HERE!“ THE grating of the cell on its hinges made me look up. One of the vampires was on the other side. She reached in and pulled me out harshly. My knees scraped the rough floor; I bit my lips to keep the pain in. Another one reached in and tried to grab Lorna but gasped in pain, pulling back immediately. “I will come out myself,“ Lorna said coolly. “But try to touch me again, and it will be the last thing you ever do.“ The vampire stared daggers at her but did not move to grab her again. She cradled her hand, rubbing it fondly. Lorna must have secured herself with some sort of spell. “And you will unhand the Luna immediately too.“ Lorna said in a cold voice to the vampire who had her fingers wrapped tightly on my upper arm. The vampire looked uncertain, but she saw the cold and threatening look on Lorna's face. I was also shocked, but it did the trick. The vampire released me. “Where are we going?“ Lorna asked, but I could guess already. “It is time for

THE FIGHT WAS OVER almost as quickly as it started. We did not stand a chance against Vladimir and he was already getting empowered by the forthcoming blood moon. Lorna was sprawled on the floor, blood seeped from her mouth and her back was twisted in an unnatural angle. I was on my feet, but it was threatening to give way any second. And Vladimir? He did look like he had done anything. No sweat. No hair out of place. He had his sinister smile plastered on his face as he walked towards me. He stopped a few feet away and brushed my cheek with his icy-cold fingers. “Your last few hours should have been enjoyable, Annika.“ he said softly. “But instead, you let that witch,“ he turned and looked at Lorna before he continued, “...to spoil it. ANNA KYLIN CHESTERI SAT UP in my bed, my heart was racing, and adrenaline surged as my wolf leaped to the surface, enhancing my vision, but I could not still make out the shape of the person in my room. I was about to jump through the door, not minding that I would alert the whole mansion, but I felt a pair of fingers wrap around my upper arm. Gasping in shock, I turned sharply, trying to wrestle my arm away from the stranger's grip, but to no avail. I am being attacked by two people, I thought anxiously to myself. I started to yell, but the person holding me stepped out of the shadows and my scream died in my throat."Lorna?!" I gaped. She put a finger to her lip to keep me silent. Then she cocked her head. I swung my legs out of the bed. My mind was spinning with imagination. I still felt like I was in a dream. I reached out and touched her. She was real."Quickly," she said to me. She muttered some words under her breath and the lock in the door snapped apart. The door opened

Draco could see the hesitation in Mitch's body language. He knew what mitch was about to do. He dipped his hand into his pocket and tossed a small object at Vorenus who caught it easily, confused at what it was. Suddenly there was a sizzling sound and vorenus dropped the object quickly. The smell of burnt flesh filled the air and Drcao nodded in satisfaction. “What was that?“ Vorenus growled. “Silver, “Draco said. “Silver bullets. He got out of the car; his legs sank almost to his knees.Draco came out too, cursing under his breath. “I wonder whose idea it was to get electric cars to drive over snow,“ he looked at Mitch and added sarcastically. “Oh wait, it was your brilliant idea.“Mitch rubbed his chin and said, “Maybe I should have gone with your idea and bought electric sleds instead.“Draco scoffed, kicking at the snow.Mitch looked around. He had no doubts that it was because his mate was still out there in danger, his son was lying in bed, unconscious and blind, and his kingdom was on the brink of civil war.He paced the length of the room anxiously, his eyes drifting into the dancing fireplace as he walked past. A small knock came at the door. “Come in,“ he called. The door opened, and Draco came in. He took a look around the small, almost empty room and shook his head, saying, “You are still sleeping here.“Mitch chuffed and nodded, “I can't stay in the master chambers alone. Anna should be with me.“Draco nodded and said, “I understand that, but…“ He looked around again. “I am sure you can do better than a tiny room. There is even no air conditon -““No one uses air conditioning here, Draco,“ Mitch said. He sat on the bed heavily; it creaked under his weight.“There is no ventilation,“ Draco continued,
