WRITER'S POV

“We are sad to see you leave. We will forever remember and miss you here,” Instructor Matt said. His eyes were warm and he sounded sad. But none of the emotions he showed mattered to Nelo. Instead she scoffed under her breath at his sudden act of care.

“And remember you are always free to come back. This is your home and you will always be welcomed here,” he added and Nelo resisted the urge to slam back with‘goddess forbid’ out loud.

She murmured a barely audible ‘thank you’.

“You still refuse a proper farewell?” instructor Matt asked again. Usually it was announced in front of the girls if any one of them became free but Nelo had to beg him to not do it. The girls already hated her. She would prefer to just leave quietly without having to see their betrayal faces. The only person she probably would feel guilt for not telling that she was leaving was Selene. Talks about Amaya were bound to pop up and she wanted to avoid that.

“No. I would like to leave now.”

AMAYA'S POVThe atmosphere during breakfast had never been this stiff. Both Nelly and Lyra joined in. Everyone focused on their plates. I had noticed that although Nelly and Lyra spoke, if you watched closely you'd see it was almost forced or there was something hidden behind the fake exchanged smiles. I was thinking why Lyra suddenly developed hatred for me on her arrival but it wasn't difficult to figure it out. She had feelings for Damian and now she saw me as a threat. I may be wrong but that was most likely the reason for it. Nelly never told me her relationship with Damian. It was strange–her closeness with Damian while being a young housekeeper. However, what I just couldn't understand was Nelly’s dislike for Lyra. It was hard not to notice the forced closeness and smiles. But then I thought, it could actually be fun watching the two play the who-is-smarter game. As for me, I probably would be rooting for Nelly. We had already started eating when one of the maidservants anno

AMAYA'S POV “Stay here and I will speak to him,” I told Nelo and dashed after Damian. Even if it meant going on my knees I was willing to do it. His strides were quick and he was about to mount the stairs when I finally caught up with him. “Please…she is my best friend. I promise you that she will not cause trouble.”He spun and with one yank, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards himself forcefully. I gasped feeling his piercing intense gaze grip me. “Do you suddenly have the boldness to demand something from me? Have you forgotten how you came to be here? Do you take me for a fool, huh!”“I–” My body stiffened. He was too close and his eyes were fixed on me in a dangerous manner. A servant must have dropped a utensil as the sound of it echoed deafeningly in the house. It was followed immediately by hurried footsteps rushing out. He leaned in, jaw clenched. “Do you not like it when I'm nice with you?”“I do– I—”“Then why do you fucking push me? Do I need to remind you? You are

WRITER'S POV WESTWOOD PACK“Bring the seer out!” Lucius ordered. By now she should have bridled her tongue and come to her senses. Once in a while in such cases, he needed to remind people that he was still the Alpha of Westwood. His jaw stiffened. “Damian…” The only one that marred what would have been his perfect leadership and authority. “Have you come to your senses now?” He asked as the seer was brought before him. The seer gave a disgruntled scoff and attempted to break free from the grasp of Tommy and Jaxon. “My words remain the same even if you kill me. I speak nothing but the truth and words of the moon goddess,” she gritted. Lucius' eyes pinched. Had he not been clear enough? “I see you have made yourself quite comfortable in my dungeon and are begging for more stay. Take her back!”“That girl is not ordinary! You are making a mistake!” Seer growled as she was being dragged away. “Stop!” Lucius commanded and with long strides he descended the podium of his Alpha seat and

AMAYA'S POV “And you are all set!” Laura exclaimed as she began to put away the brushes and stuff. “Wow. You are snatched!” Nelo gasped walking in. I grinned admiring myself in the mirror. She didn't need to say it, I was glowing. Laura was like a pro. The way her hands moved on my face as she worked. Carefully choosing the colours, the brushes and delicately applying them. Even before she was done, I could already feel it would turn out great. Back at the quarters, I prided myself in my red lipstick. I had never really done full face makeup and dreaded it because the first time I saw Selene tried it, she looked like a vengeful ghost. “Thank you, Laura,” I thanked her again. It would be my first official outing as Damian’s guest. Yes, that was what I finally accepted he took me as. Although I still worried if he had other ulterior motives, he was yet to make a move and at the moment I was at peace. Laura of course still hung around me but the best part of it was Nelo’s presence.

AMAYA'S POV Each step I took backwards had him edging closer to me. His gaze was narrowed and aimed at me in a domineering manner. I glanced back and realised if I walked back anymore, I was bound to step into the brightness of the shining pole light and would be drawing the attention of the servants and guards which was not something I wanted. “I–can walk on my own.” I blurted. He chuckled. Standing in my front now, he leaned forward so he was at the same eye level with me. “Are you afraid of me now?” His breath warmed my face. He was more than an inch close and impulsively I held my breath. My dress had become suddenly tighter around my stomach and chest than it was when I wore it. I could barely look at his face but I could feel his eyes intensely on me. “Is there a reason for me to be?” I mumbled quietly. “Don't you think it's finally time we have the discussion. Are you not curious…why I bought you from your Alpha mate?”Something chilly washed over me and my breath caught i

AMAYA'S POV By now everyone was on their feet, gasping and mumbling different theories of what they thought was going on. The man staggered forward aiming his sword at Damian, gnashing his teeth. But just before he mounted the stairs of the podium, two guards subdued him. “Let me go! Let me kill this bastard of an Alpha. Let me kill the murderer of my poor sister!”Poor sister? A prickling fear crept over me. It must be his sister's bones behind the brown door. Damian rose in his seat. “Allow him.” “I said let him go!” he roared when the guards hesitated. Everyone thought he was crazy including me. This man was here for his head and he wanted them to let him through? The guards freed the man. He snarled. Clenching, he surged up the podium. He struck his sword at Damian who swiftly dodged and with his bare hands grabbed the edges of the sword. Blood gushed. My mind left me. Shocking gasps echoed in the room.“You are a monster! You murdered your own mate. You deserve to die! Die!

“Fucking bastards! Old bastards! What do they know about being an Alpha! Can any of them wear my shoes! None!” Lucius slammed angrily. Ever since he encountered his so-called mate, everything has gone from bad to worse. He shouldn't have listened to the seer. He should have paid deaf ears about finding his mate or not. Here he was still trying to figure out how to get back his darn mate that supposedly held the lock to the perfect life he wanted and these foolish elders of his were being bitches biting his ass. “All they do is sit on their high horses and make demands!” He added thumping at the empty seat beside him. Facing Jaxon, he questioned, “Why isn't Tommy here?”“I just spoke to him and he is already on his way,” Jaxon replied. “And, the chief elder is demanding you fix a meeting with him as soon as possible?”Lucius' face thickened with irritation. “What is it this time? Another of his complaints? Or does he want yet another plot of land?!”“He is complaining of disrespect fr

AMAYA'S POV “You…” he started, his voice hoarse and anguished. His fingers trailed down my face as he gazed fixedly at me. “Why did you stop me?”Funny that I myself couldn't answer this question. While everyone saw the murderous part of him, deep within him lurked pain and hurt. When I saw him grabbing onto the edges of the sword while it cut through him, I couldn't say, but something inside me felt differently drawn to his hidden pain. “Are you alright?” I asked, swiftly ignoring his question. His eyes squinted at me. I stepped back glancing around. “Your hand needs to be treated. Is there a first aid kit somewhere?”As I turned to search for one, he grabbed my hand unexpectedly, swirling me, causing my body to slam into his own. His arms reached and circled around me and his intense gaze on me deepened, piercing right through me. He leaned in. “I am Alpha Damian. I don't need first aid treatments.” His breath sent shudders down my spine. For a split second, a razz idea came upo

Balus stiffened. Tommy was the last man he was expecting in his house. He shot Luman a look as if to fault him for having weak guards man his gates. But since it had already happened, he would find a way to quickly discard him. It was already enough trouble that he joined hands with him, what would Damian do if he found him hanging in his pack. He cleared his throat. “What a surprise visit. You did not give me a notice.”Tommy walked past him and lowered himself into the nearest cushion. “Well, I figured coming with my two legs would be the best. Get me a drink. Sweet wine preferably,” he said casually as he rested his arms around the seat. “Sure I will have the guards do that. Guards!” Alpha Balus bellowed. “They are probably deep asleep at the moment,” Tommy drawled. He looked at Luman. Then sat up. “Forget the drink. I will have lots of it to drink soon. “Catch him! Don't let him escape!”“Shit!” Tommy dived into the nearest thickest portion of the bush. Leaves slapped across his face and his leg scraped and bumped against dry stumps that stuck out of place. As he ran, his eyes scanned for a place to hide. He'd always known losing his chasers was better than having them keep chasing him behind. Who knew if they had with him one of those silver arrows. He found one. One at a perfert spot. He broke a thick stem from a plant, flung it and diverted the direction of his chasers. Then he crawled into a hole big enough to cover his body but not his head.Quickly he gathered dried leaves nearby and covered his upper body. The men growled past and from where he hid, he could feel their strength and determination. If they had used the same energy and served him he would not be in this situation. “Bastards!” He should have killed them all. They were useless. He had never ran the way he did. Just some hours ago he was the most powerful man in t

“Greetings, my Alpha,” Jaxon greeted Lucius. “Forgive me for being a lacking servant and friend.”Lucius regarded him, along with the parked boxes beside him. Once the chaos died down, Jaxon was the first person he’d asked of. He still didn't understand how he never visited him in the dungeon the entire time despite needing no connections. He wanted to believe he was now fully on the side of Tommy. Until he heard of everything that happened. “How’s the situation of things?” He asked. Jaxon lifted his face. “Are you asking about the situation at Westwood?” When Lucius said nothing, he took the cue to go ahead. “Westwood Pack now under Craven Pack. Tommy made it so,” he explained quietly. Tommy flared up.”What? That bastard…” he gnashed. “Are you saying I just lost my pack?!”Jaxon hesitated. “The elders permitted it and Tommy had probably thought he would lead forever. He was afraid other Alphas would try to make a move.”Lucius fumed. Frustration latched onto him as much as the ange

“Amaya!” Damian called as he barged into the holding cell. But the room was empty at his entrance. His heart skipped one beat at the possibility that Amaya could have gotten hurt. Casting another glance at the empty table and seats, he panted out. He'd breezed out when an equally panting voice echoed his name from behind. He turned sharply. “Nelly?”“My Alpha…” Nelly muffled, her voice breaking. She scurried over to him. “Are you hurt anywhere? And your strength? Are you fully back?” Her eyes roamed over him with deep concern. “It’s all good now,” Damian said calmly. “Are you alright—”She fell into his arms and released a huge sigh. “Thank the goddess…thank the goddess…I thought I wouldn't see you again…” he voice shook with emotions. “What happened? A guard. He was a block away from the holding cell. “You are from the dungeon. Where are you going? Who's holding the forte over there?” the guard questioned. “The forte is good over there, boss. I will just grab a cup of water and be on my way back,” Damian replied calmly. His head tilted slightly down. “Make sure to be quick about it,” the guard said after a brief moment. “Wait,” his face crumpled and he turned around. The voice was strange. “Turn around!” he commanded. Damian stopped with a sigh. Why would nothing ever go the way he envisioned? As the guard approached him, his ears stood erect. The eerie silence outside the dungeon matched the thick darkness inside. In his cell, Damian sat at a corner. His usual spot. He opened his palm and although it was thick dark, he was able to outline the shiny key that glinted despite the impenetrable darkness. Amaya had risked her life to bring this in. He must make no mistakes. It crushed him to know she'd go that length to help him. He heard Lucius stir in his cell and a moment later he'd crawled to the demarcation. “Isn't it time you accepted me as your only hope and comrade in this place?”Damian couldn't see him clearly through the dark but he still glanced his way. “Where do you think he would be holding the intruder captured earlier?” he asked in a low voice. “Intruder?” Lucius shot up. “So I was right!” His voice squeaked. “Keep your fucking voice down!” Damain warned. Lucius shrugged. “Well, if he was a man he'd be here with us in one of the cells somewhere. Wouldn't he?”“And if it were a woman?”“A woman? What woman…w

“You think he cares about you? Have you ever wondered how your parents died?”As Damian sprawled in his cell, Tommy's words echoed in his head. Those were the words he had said to him when he made him fight his uncle. He still couldn't believe he'd make him fight his uncle. What did Tommy mean by he knew nothing about his uncle? Tommy was nothing but a traitor and a cunny bastard. He didn't expect him to get that low. He already had him in chains and taken his Pack, what would he gain trying to create a rift between him and his uncle? He wanted to disregard Tommy's words but his eyes kept flashing in his head. Those were not the eyes of a man trying to con someone. While he was dragged to the fighting cage, he had seen someone with a striking resemblance to Amaya. A guard. It couldn't be her. He wasn't sure. Yes, Amaya was very daring and stubborn but would she step foot into Emperor Mansion days after escaping? Tommy would skin her alive. She knew that. She wouldn't dare. And so he h

“Argh!” Jaxon let out a sharp grunt as another strong hand pressed him down. Three guards in total gripped him until he couldn't move a finger. Tommy seethed forward. First thing he did was kick Jaxon repeatedly. “You traitor! How dare you! I treated you like you were worth something but this is what I get!” His widened eyes were swollen from the adrenaline rush. He stopped abruptly, panting. He swirled and his robe swirled with him. Fury latched deep within him. He shook his head and his clenched fist trembled. Jaxon shouldn't betray him. Jaxon shouldn't….He wheeled around again. “How long have you been planning this?”Blood gushed through Jaxon's mouth. A part of his right eyes was swollen from the punches. He struggled to keep the slit open. “You probably know better than me… how long you planned on betraying Lucius?” He smirked. Tommy snarled.“Fool. Take him to the dungeon! No! Kill him! I left the crowd and lurked around the path back to the dungeon where a couple of other guards were. Luckily they didn't notice anything as I joined them. Although the heavy thudding of my heart would have given me out faster. As the men dragged Damian and his uncle with Lucius back into the dungeon. I lingered for about five seconds. “Stop right there! Who are you? Show your face!” a voice roared behind me the instant I tried to move. Stay calm. They won't notice. Show the pass Jaxon gave you. “Turn around!” the voice came again. I obeyed. “What? Is there a problem.” I tried to sound as natural as I could. The guard approached me. I bent my face. I wasn't sure how effective Jaxon's tanning cream would be. Through my lashes I saw his face wrinkled into a frown. “Your uniform has no name tag. Are you one of the n
