Elizabeth’s POV

I rose with the sun today, lifting myself from the empty bed, that patch of dark warmth where I lay quickly evaporating into the morning air.

‘Elaina and Betty aren’t here anymore.’

Having that thought, the knot of anxiety that takes up near-permanent residence in my stomach loosened at this time, undone before the rest of the world awakened.

I went outside to breathe in that new air. Everything is new without my evil stepmother and my nemesis. And yet the future was a bleak of dark and light, unlike the magnificent sunrise.

I walked around watching the petrichor of dew on the fresh green grass here in the Black Lake, and soon, I arrived at Pack’s Hospital to meet my mother’s friend, Georgina.
