_FLASHBACK_

Third-person POV

“Hey, dunce Omega. Come here!” Selene commanded, shouting at Dahlia, who froze on her spot at the mention of dunce omega.

Dahlia scrutinized her eyes to check if there was any other person around that the voice might be calling to.

“Are you deaf?” Selene shouted again as Dahlia turned towards her.

She carried her feet, which felt so deep and rooted to the ground, but she quickly lifted her legs and ran to meet Selene because she knew that the longer she stayed, the more abuse she would hurl at her.

As she got to where Selene was standing, she raised her head to stare into her eyes. Selene, whose gaze was red hot and boiling with anger, landed Dahlia a resounding slap.

“How dare you keep me waiting? You fool of a wolf,” Selene cursed.

Dahlia winced at the pain Selene’s hand sent through her body as she held her hurt cheek in pain. Her eyes, tears glistening in them.

“I am sorry,” Dahlia pleaded, even though she wasn’t at fault.

“Save me that,” Selen

Cassius’ POV“An accomplice? Are you crazy? Who is it? Tell me?” My tone was menacing and commanding. I didn’t know when the beast in me came on. I hurled her against the steel bars, which bent on impact, making her shriek in pain. I growled loudly. Chase was fighting to come out again, but I tried hard to keep him in check. I don’t want him to break loose because he would kill her on the spot. “You fucking killed my sister!. How dare you!?” I stomped my feet on the ground, tearing the steel bars like paper. A mixture of anger, betrayal, pain, and guilt was coursing through my veins. Why was I being so stupid and never noticing Selene and Garret were evil? They poisoned my sister and framed Callista for it. Oh, moon goddess! I have shed the blood of an innocent person; how am I supposed to live with it? If the dead do have a ghost, I know her ghost would haunt me for the rest of my life. My attention was diverted to Selene on the cold floor. She looked motionless. Her body arcs i

Cassius’ POV“My Alpha, Selene, is awake, and she demands to see you.” I heard Landon’s voice breeze into my head, far from my sleep. I fluttered my eyes open, and the orange hue from the sun through the window shone directly into my eyes. I rubbed my palm on my sleepy face, and my eyes caught sight of Landon standing at the entrance of my bedroom. “My Alpha, Selene, is awake, and she demands to see you,” he repeated, maybe because he didn’t know I heard what he said the first time. Remembering that Selene was awake made all the fiasco of the previous day run back into my head. The betrayal, pain, and guilt that had vanished while I was asleep are now back, itching right in my head. “I will be there shortly,” I muttered dismissively because I didn’t want to keep him waiting. I look like sh*t. I was still in the previous day's clothes. In a jiffy, I bolted to the bathroom and opened the shower on my head. I felt relieved as the water cascaded from my head down to my body. I ruffle

Back at the hut in the woods. Callista’s POV~~It’s been three days since I have been all alone here in the woods. I have been expecting and waiting for the wolf who resides in this hut, but since the night I got here, I haven’t seen or heard anyone enter this hut. Maya and the little fox have been keeping me company here, and it feels safe being with them. There were enough fruits and nuts in the basket here inside the hut, and I have been feasting on them with the fox. The fox is such a lovely animal. I wondered where its owner might have gone for the past few days without coming back to meet it. “Did you perceive that scent?” Maya’s voice breezed into my head, jolting me awake from my train of thought. I jumped up from the woven vine that had served as a bed for me and the fox. The surface is quite large, so it was enough for us, plus the fox isn’t that huge. "No, I didn’t,” I answered, taking a deep, quick breath to see if I would be able to perceive any scent, but I didn’t.

Callista’s POV~~“Did you think that thing you are holding can harm me in any way?” The voice, deep and menacing, sent a chill down my spine as my whole body went numb with fear. Every creak and whisper in the night echoed through my bones as dread skittered down my spine. I struggled to break free from his tight killing grip, but it seems to be more powerful than I am. He was just holding my wrist with one of his hands, and I couldn't get free from his grip. I struggled hard, but it was fruitless. “What do you want here in my hut!?” I shouted at the man whose face I hadn't seen because his back was turned to me. The man let out a loud mocking laughter, which made me raise my brow in frustration. Like, what was funny? Why is he laughing? He is such a scumbag. I hissed disdainfully at him. “I should be asking you that,” the man retorted. “Wait, are you the one living here?” I found myself asking the man, whom I didn’t know, if he was going to answer that. He released me from his t

  • Rejected and Torn between Alphas    CHAPTER 69: Persistent hitch

Cassius’ POV “I need to see Maximus. Tell him to come to the palace.” I ordered Landon, who bowed slightly in submission and walked out of the palace. It’s been two days since Selene and Garret were hanged at the center of the pack house. I am now left alone without a Luna and a beta. I have ordered Maximus to be released from the dungeon since I found out that he didn’t commit the crime he was accused of. I just need to make amends and plead with him about not trusting him enough, even though we were somewhat close back then. “My Alpha,” he bowed his head with his hands clasped behind his back. “Sit,” I said softly, pointing to a couch across from me. And he sat without hesitation. “Max” is the short form of his name and what my father and I always call him. He raised his head as he heard me call him. “My alpha,” he responded.“I am sorry for everything. I meant everything that happened. For not hearing your side of the story and all.” It wasn’t normal for an Alpha to ask for

Cassius’ POV~~“Dear esteemed member of the Wolfsong Dominion pack,” a loud cheer erupted from the pack members as I looked down to them on the podium of the assembly ground. “You all witnessed the deaths of my Luna, Selena, and my beta, Garret,” I said to them. "Yes, Alpha,” a few of them responded. “You all know that their positions are now vacant, and we would need someone to fill those positions, as it is very essential that we have them in the pack,” I announced in a low but serious tone. A hushed silence fell over the crowd as they stared at me with curiosity evident in their expressions. “Well, the right person for the position of beta was Gamma Maximus, but since he has been away due to a crime he knew nothing about, he has been released and will be reinstated back to his position once the required ceremony has been done,” I added. “For the position of the Luna,” I paused and darted my eyes around the young she-wolves who hadn't met their mate. Callista’s POV~~ Living as a lone wolf in the wilderness with Shaman Magnus Spirit Forge was like a blessing from the moon goddess. Yes, the man who owns the hut I am living in is a shaman; at least that was what he told me, and I believed him because I don’t have any reason whatsoever to doubt him. How he got to know that I was pregnant with a pup without being told was one of the reasons I have to believe him, plus he has been brewing some concoctions for me to drink, which he said would be good for my unborn pup. “Are you ready? Let’s go,” Magnus Spirit Forge called out to me from outside the hut. We were preparing to go hunting for food that we would use to survive here in the woods. "Yes, Shaman, I am ready,” I responded, picking up some bags we would use to gather the foods. He had told me that he would not be able to leave me behind in the hut because it was dangerous for me to be alone since I can’t even perceive any scent that would make me know if an enemy was around. Callista’s POV~~We’ve gotten enough fruits, nuts, and meat that would serve us for a few days, and now we are headed back to the hut, and it is just a stone throne to where we’ve gotten to right now. “Should I help you out?” Shaman Magnus stretched his hands to take the bag that was hung on my shoulder, where the nut was filled. “But you are also carrying one.” I gestured with my head to the other bag he was carrying. “It’s not that heavy. I can take both,” he responded. "No, you don’t have to. You are old and need to do less of this work,” I said to him. “Old?” He halted and said it in a manner that sounded like he was a bit shocked that I had called him that. He laughed loudly, throwing his head back as his laughter echoed through the forest. “Look who you called old.” He dropped the bag from his shoulder and flung his arms and feet to show me that he was fit. I smiled at his childish display. “You really seemed so fit,” I teased. “I hope it isn’t that you are making a joke

"I... didn't mean... to... umm," but before I could finish my statement, he grabbed me by the waist and his gaze darkened. "Say it." His voice came out in a husky manner, making my bodily hair stand out. A weird sensation made me rub my tights together as the warmth spread. "Say it." He urged me again, making me feel a little hesitant. He looked totally different from how he was a few minutes ago. I felt our bodies collide after he pulled me closer and nibbled on my collar bone in a seductive manner. "Say my name once more." The air crackled with unspoken emotions—a tangible tension that stretched between us. "Tristan," I began, my voice barely above a whisper. He met my gaze, his blue eyes searching mine. "Callista," he replied, his voice rough with emotion. “I am sorry.” His tone was low and soft. I gave him a small smile. “We can’t duel in the past; I have forgiven you wholeheartedly,” I responded as a matter of fact. “I shouldn’t have broken the bond back then,” he said with a regret-filled voice. “It's fine. • Rejected and Torn between Alphas    CHAPTER 140: Back home

Callista’s POV “Mommy!" Jessica’s arms wrapped tightly around my waist, burying her face in my stomach. Relief washed over me, bittersweet and sharp. "Where did you go? Aunt Lily said you left to kill big bad wolves!" I chuckled, the sound raspy. "Not exactly, sweetheart. I went to help Alpha Cassius and his pack. They needed a little… assistance." Jessica tilted her head back, peering up at me with wide, worried eyes. The resemblance to Cassius, with her sharp jaw and frame, was uncanny. But her eyes—those held a warmth Cassius never possessed, but of mine. "Did you get hurt, Mommy?" Her tiny hand reached up to touch a bruise blooming on my arm. Guilt gnawed at me. Leaving Jessica, even for a war I couldn't ignore, felt like a betrayal. "Just a few scratches, honey bee. Nothing a good night's sleep won't fix." I kneeled before her, forcing a smile. Jessica’s concern was a stark reminder of the responsibility I bore—to her, to my pack, and yes, even to Cassius, her father. But un

Cassius’ POV“Alpha, they are subduing us at the south border!" A fear-painted link echoed through my head, a glaring contrast to the ringing silence that had just descended on the clearing. Callista flinched beside me, her eyes wide with alarm. Pain flared in my shoulder, a throbbing reminder of the fight, but it was nothing compared to the sudden surge of fear that just coursed through me. "Shit! Let's go to the south border!" I roared the command, adrenaline masking the ache in my body. I scrambled to my feet, ignoring the way the world tilted for a moment.Callista was already moving; a black, brown, and white hybrid was disappearing into the trees. I pushed myself after her, pushing through the pain and the fear of a hot coal in my gut. We raced through the undergrowth, the pounding of paws echoing through the forest floor. As we broke through the trees and twigs, the scene that greeted us was one of chaos and goriness. Cassius’ POV“What spell?” I raised a quizzical brow. “Watch out for it. Let’s move now!” She ran off towards the woods while the remaining warriors ran after her without answering my questions. As the pouncing from the woods became heavier and nearer, a realization dawned on me about what she said. Most of the packs in the North are joining forces against us. This is going to be a long night. “Shit!” I yelled and ran after her. We came to a halt when we caught sight of two groups of enemies pouncing forward in our direction. “These are two packs here,” I said immediately as I caught up with her. “Yeah, maybe they split up,” she nodded. “Attack!” she growled loudly as the earth trembled beneath our feet. The air crackles with anticipation, and the scent of fur thickens in my nostrils. The full moon hangs like a giant, watchful eye in the sky, casting the battlefield in an eerie silver light. Howls erupt from both sides. A scream of rage reverberates across the forest.Callista s

Callista’s POV The news of my arrival sparked a fire in the entire pack. Nervousness hung heavy in the air, but it was mixed with fierce determination. Young and old warriors gathered on the training ground, their eyes blazing with fighting spirit.I felt anger brewing up in me when Cassius’ gamma told me he asked me to come into his office. I had planned on how to trash him with words, but as I got in, his gaze made those thoughts fly away. A part of me craves him, and another part is pushing me away, but whichever part it is, I don’t think I would listen to anyone if it were. I just have to go ahead with what I came here to do and push those feelings aside. We can’t be on the battleground with emotions flying around. It would make either of us lose concentration. A frustrated groan escaped my lips. Had I traveled all this way, defying logic and reason, just to be on the receiving end of his teasing and flirtation? “I can do anything I want; this isn’t the Callista from years ago
