ROSHIDA
If I’d known earlier that my mate would come back with a woman, I would have gone on my knees and begged my mother to make another choice. A little introduction before we get into it. My name is Roshida, the late Alpha's daughter and I'm wolfless. My mother arranged for me to marry a Beta three months ago. I'd married him without a second thought because she wanted me to. It was her dying wish and how could I say no to my mother? I have always trusted her choice. I couldn't exactly say I'd married him because he didn't even attend the ceremony. He'd been called to fight some war and I had to stand there like a fool at the altar, saying my vows into thin air. I didn't know what was more pathetic between that and having to act like I was happy with everything. Now he came back from the battlefield not only with a promotion to be Alpha, but a woman he claimed to be his fated mate. What a joke. It was a hot sunny afternoon in the middle of June when he casually strolled into the house. His mother had thrown a tantrum earlier and had forcefully made me carry her down the stairs to sit on the verandah. I'd called for the guards to do it but she said that guards couldn't touch her so only I could carry her. She was still recovering and hadn't fully regained full mobility. He walked straight to her, brushing past me as though I wasn't there. “My son!” They embraced each other tightly. He looked quite different from the last time I'd seen him but then again, war would do that to you. “I see you're doing well, mother. It's so good to see you this bright.” I was waiting for him to notice me or for his mother to say that I'd been taking care of her. But neither happened. “Mother, for my victory in the war, the Lycan King awarded me with medals and not just that. You're looking at the new Alpha of this pack!” His mother jumped out of her chair and hugged him. I couldn't believe my eyes. She'd sworn that she couldn't move her legs earlier and that's why I had to bring her down the stairs. But now… “Oh, I'm so happy for you, son.” He still hadn't looked at me. “Oh, not just that mother.” He turned around and faced the door. A young lady came in and he put his arm around her “Mum, this is Kelly. Kelly, this is my mother.” A petite young lady came out from behind Felix. I hadn't known that someone had even been standing there. Her facial features were the first thing I noticed. Long curly brown hair, moderately big eyes, rosy lips…she was a beauty. She didn't look like a fighter. She had a soft gaze and a pretty smile that she extended towards Felix's mother. Kelly smiled lightly and shook his mother's hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, ma'am.” I suddenly felt sick to my stomach. What the hell was going on? “We fought on the fields together. You should have seen her, mum. She was superb. You know, once I saw her in action, I knew there was something different about her and just like that, my wolf agrees with me. She's my mate, mum.” That bile that had been rising in my throat finally made it to my mouth and I had to push it back down. “What?!” His mother exclaimed “Your what?” Good! I was not the only one who found this insane. “My mate, mother. Isn't she beautiful?” Beautiful? Well yeah, she is but- “She’s a delight to look at. You're welcome to my home.” She had to be kidding me. Did she hear what he had said? His mate? The fact that I was still standing there with no on even realizing my presence amazed me. When he was done speaking to the guards, I approached him carefully, wondering whether I should even say anything. When he turned around and saw me, he didn't even give me a second look before brushing past me and walking away. “Wait, I want to speak to you.” He had stopped just a few feet away from me, and he was still backing me. “What do you need? I'm busy.” That was it? “Congratulations on your victory. You really-” He finally turned around to face me. “What do you want?” Ouch. I took a deep breath with my heart beating quickly in my chest. Why? “Before you left, we got married. Do you remember telling my mother that you would have just me as a mate? You told her that there will be no issues. Who's that's lady you brought home?” I hated the fact that I was having to ask for an explanation. He didn't even feel I needed one. He sighed and rolled his eyes. “She is Kelly and she's my mate. I'd I'd known that I'd find her this soon after marrying you, I wouldn't have done it. I couldn't deny my wolf what he wanted. He saw her and he said that she was our mate so I had to do something. You knew we weren't mates so this shouldn't come as a surprise to you.” Could he hear himself speak? “Listen, this might be a lot to take in so I'll give you time but you have to understand that Kelly is going to be the new Luna, my actual wife.” I pointed to myself. “And me? What will happen to me? What about me?” “You…youll serve beside her. I mean, we can't have two Lunas and since shes my actual mate, it's the right thing to do.” The fact that I wasn't even able to cry meant that I was just too shocked. “Don’t get me wrong, we're still married but you're not just my Luna. I won't reject you though and nonoke has to find out about your little secret. If you know what I mean.” I wanted to call him a bastard, to tell him that he was a two faced, son of a bitch. But then his mother had something to say. “Get used to it, because you're going to be planning the wedding.”ROSHIDAAs I sat in my room that night, I felt like a fool. It was now my room because Felix had come in and said that he was now going to be sleeping with Kelly. Of course, I should have seen that coming. After everything that I'd done for this family, all because I felt that I had a new family. Felix didn't have a lot of money before. He was a Beta with little to nothing going for him so of course, when I married him, it meant that I had to do something for him and his family. I'd started by taking over his mother's medical bills. When he left, she was in dire need to help and I didn't think twice before paying for everything. Now, she's come back to see her in better shape and he didn't even say anything to me. The only thing he could do was bring another woman home with him. I should have seen it coming right from the start. The way he agreed to marry me without knowing anything about me. I didn't want to blame my mother for my present predicament. She had only done what s
ROSHIDASophia had been with me for so many years. Back home, she'd been my personal maid and she'd proven herself to be my friend and the sister I never had. She was there for me when my father, brothers and mother died, helping me get through the grief I thought would envelope me. That's why I knew I could trust her with everything. “Luna, do you realize what you're saying? Please, don't make harsh decisions in the heat of the moment. They will come back to bite you.” At this point, I didn't care. Felix and his family had gone insane and my parents didn't raise a fool that would sit back and watch as everything was being taken away from her while she did nothing. “Sophia, does this look lIke the face of a woman who cares? What do I have to lose? What? My title? Not exactly. Someone else already has it.”At this point, I didn't care about anything. I didn't care about being married to Felix anymore. The marriage never meant anything to him anyways so why should I be the one figh
ROSHIDAThe room was dead silent like the time when she first walked in. I'd gotten her tongue tied and I was enjoying it. Her mouth was open but sounds were not coming out. What a hypocritical bitch. “On a lighter note, Felix was promoted to Alpha for his efforts in the war. You know that if you work alongside her and become her co-wife, things could work out.”I felt myself get dumber just listening to her. In what sick world did she think that this could work out? Even if I did agree to this, we would have each other for the rest of our lives and be sworn enemies. I didn't have time for all that and certainly not with a woman who was cheap enough to take someone else's husband.I mean, think about it. He's the Alpha now, and he did say that he met her at war. You could stay back and handle things at the pack while he goes out with her to fight wars. I'm sure you're too soft and tush for all that so no one expects that from you.”This woman clearly didn't know how I was brought u
FELIXIt was dinner time and there was no one at the table which was weird because usually, my mother would have been there. I went upstairs to look for her. I was sure that she had fallen asleep reading a book or something. “What are you saying? Return everything to you? Do you really think you did this family a favor?”Who was Fiona speaking to in Roshida's room? The door was slightly open so I just stood there and listened in. “I’m very sure you weren't deaf when I said it. Everything that I've given to you and your mother will be returned to me. It is mine, after all.”What was Roshida saying? I opened the door and walked in. “What’s going on?”My mother clutched my arm. “Son, you should hear what your wife is saying. She's saying that she wants to leave you and that she wants everything to be returned to her. Talk some sense into her. Tell her it's not possible.” I looked at her, waiting for her to say that it was a lie. But she didn't. “Is she telling the truth? You wan
ROSHIDA“Won’t he get mad when he finds out?”I looked at her, confused at what she was talking about. “Who is that you speak of? Last I checked, I didn't owe anyone my whereabouts. So who cares if he finds out?”I wanted to leave the pack back to mine today. It has been a while since I'd been away from my family and I wanted to go see them again. At least to let them know I was doing fine. “I don't think you want to wear that.”She looked down at her dress. “What? I like this dress. Why don't you want me to wear it?” “It’s not me. We have places to be today. Just trust me. Wear something else.”Today was going to determine a lot. That was why I needed to go see my parents first. I needed their good luck to go with me. As I came down the stairs, I met Grace and Fiona in the living room. Not paying any attention to them, I walked past them. “Where are you going dressed like that? You think you can just stand up and leave this house when you please?” I turned around to look at t
ROSHIDAThe King was silent. “Do you realise what you are asking, young lady? You want to leave your husband? A highly decorated Alpha? Firstly, do you realise the implications that carry?”Screw the implications. “My King, I've thought about it and I'm ready to bear it all. Nothing is too much to bear as long as I get to leave that house. I've suffered more than enough and I deserve better. I'm ready to face it all”.I just needed him to be convinced. If I can plead my case to him and he accepts it, then I'm fine. “Roshida, that's your name right? The reason your father sent you to military school, if I remember clearly, was because you were born without a wolf. He didn't want you to be trampled upon. I don't want that either for you.” I was wolfless but I wasnt useless. I felt more at ease, like I was talking to my father or uncle. “Your majesty, I understand your concerns and I appreciate them but then, the skills I have acquired won't be entirely useless. I can take care of
ROSHIDAWith the king's promise at heart, I returned back to that place knowing that I had nothing to worry about. I had officially gone to plead my case and now, he knew about it. All I had to wait was for the letter of approval to be delivered. Then, I would pack every last thing that belonged to me in this house and leave without looking back. Speaking of the things that belonged to me, Sophia and I decided that it wàs a good idea to take an inventory of what I had so I'd know if those people had played any games recently. We spent at least two days doing that because it was not easy walking around the house and pack, looking at things without being seen or noticed. When we were eventually done, I still had a significant amount of property and it warmed my heart that I would return to my father's house with something to my name. “Did the King say when you'd hear from him?”I wanted to ask but I didn't want to seem too forward. He had already done a lot for me by letting me ge
ROSHIDAFelix stayed staring at me for a few seconds. His breathing had calmed down now that he had heard what he wanted. “Did you hear me? I don't care about you and her. You can marry her and the entire world if you want to. Don't come into my room and spew rubbish again. I won't like it.”He really thought I'd leave my house and go all the way to the Capital, stand under the sun for over an hour just to see the King and tell him that I wanted to stop his wedding to Kelly? A wedding that they wanted me to fund?.He pushed himself off the wall and pointed his finger at me. “Don’t do anything stupid like this again. Just lay low until the wedding is over.”“Take that finger out of my face before I break it and shove it up your ass.”He dropped his hand and gave me a look before walking out of the room. He was just showing me that he wasn't just a gold digger and an irresponsible person, he was also a disrespectful bastard. I tried not to let him bother me. I won't let him make
ROSHIDAI tried not to panic be sure it wasn't going to do me any good. Hearing that news made me hasten up the interview process and I made sure that the Fortress was heavily guarded. I spared no excess in seeing to it that every corner of the place was sealed off so that in case of an attack, the people would be safe and sound.I didn't think it was right for me to tell the Lycan King about it yet. I'm sure he would have heard of it on his own and would be making plans to deal with it. When I got home that day, I told Sophia about it and she thought the same thing too. “I think the most we can do is to keep an eye out for any strange movements. I'll ask the guards to be mounted at the border, parading it round the clock. Until they pose a potential threat to us, it's not exactly our problem.” I was not about to start a war I knew I couldn't finish. I wasn't even ready for a war in any way. After that news had been delivered, it had taken just two weeks for the order to come fro
ROSHIDAThe King didn't have to give me twenty four hours to leave. We left that same day, taking eveye last bit of property with us. He'd given me guards to help carry things back to the pack. As I stepped out of that house for the last time, I looked back and saw him looking at me through the window. He thought he could be smart and take everything that belonged to me but I'd won. I'd won in the end and I'd taken everything that he and his greedy family wanted to take from me. I'm sure he felt so stupid. The King hadn't been joking when he said that he renovated the pack. Everything was new again and as I stepped into the house I'd grown up in, a wave of emotions hit me at once and I just stood staring at the house. The house in which id been born, that once held the Alpha and Luna, that had once been bustling with life was now as quiet as a grave yard. My mother and I would often sit in the garden and speak for hours, telling me about my brothers and father since they weren'
FELIX“So you're trying to say that she beat you up? But she doesn't have a wolf and you're an Alpha and a little warrior. How's that possible?” The fact that I was narrating this story again was telling on my ego. I wanted to forget that it even happened. A mere woman could defeat a hero like me. If anyone heard it, my reputation would be ruined. I had to ask Fiona to help me massage my body since I couldn't get the doctor. It was like I'd been beaten for several hours. It was a stupid thing I'd done, hitting myself against the wall to get her off me. I should have just shaken her off instead of putting myself in harm's way. Now, she was the one unharmed. “She apparently received training as a child. I had no idea her father trained her to be a warrior since she didn't have a wolf. She didn't show me that part of her when I first married her.” Maybe if she had shown me that side of her, I would have seen her in a different light. I'd always thought she was just some weak woman
FELIXI'd been hoping that it would be a dream but I woke up the next morning and she was truly gone. I wanted to just stay in my room all day and just think about what the hell I was going to do but I knew that I would think about it too much so I went down to my office after breakfast. In just a matter of an hour, things changed drastically and I still couldn't believe it. After everything yesterday, I had to explain to the people why I'd gathered them earlier. Of course, I couldn't tell them the real reason I'd called them here. I'd come up with some lame excuse and tell them that I'll reach out to them when I have something more to tell them. Then I returned home and sat down in my office. It looked like a hurricane had hit it. How could the Lycan King do such a thing without first informing me? I thought he would first invite the both of us to appeal our case before passing the final verdict. But he just did it based on what he heard or what Roshida had told him. Fiona ha
ROSHIDASensing the tension in the room, Felix pushed his mother behind him and stepped forward. “My King, what my mother is trying to say is that giving her all these assets and telling her to rule on her own is like giving enemies an invitation to attack her. At least, if she stays here, she'll have people to protect her and all she has. The Blue Ridge Fortress, included.”It just occurred to me that he had been eyeing the piece of land too. The bloody bastard. Just how smart did he think he was? “Maybe you don't understand what I'm saying. It is not possible! Your divorce is final, you can not have her here again!” He turned to me. “I expect you to be out of this place within the next twenty four hours. Gather your people and everything that belongs to you and leave this pack. Failure to do so will be counted as disobedience and since you're a Luna now, you will be held accountable for your actions.”Oh, he didn't need to tell me twice. As soon as he leaves, I'm going to be out
ROSHIDAAs he stood in the room, his huge form taking over the doorway, his eyes scanned the room in disgust. Felix's shifting had made the room a mess and it was expected that the Lycan King wouldn't want to be in a place like this. Felix and his family rearranged themselves and stood on their feet. “My King. What are you doing here?” The Lycan King frowned at him and I gave Felix a look. “Are you asking me questions now? Don't I have the right to be where I want to be anymore?”He bowed his head. “That’s not what I mean, my King. My apologies if it came off wrong. It's an honor to have you in my pack.”“It seems I came at the right time. Things were seeming to get out of hand.”“I don't understand you, your highness. What do you mean?”“In the past few weeks, certain reports have reached my ears and I felt the need to come in person and address them. It seems to me that you have taken another woman as your intended Luna.”Felix's resolve fell and he looked away. “I’m sure I c
ROSHIDAShe couldn’t look me in the eye and answer that question.“You can't hurt me. You're the Luna so you can't touch me. If you do, that's a crime.”Now all of a sudden, I'm the Luna. Felix seemed to be her safe place because she went to stand behind him. Like if I wanted to touch her, he would be able to protect her. He looked at me like he was about to attack and I could see that there was a lot going through his mind. His stance seemed suspicious and I knew he was going to do something. What I didn't expect though was for him to transform. Right there in the house and in front of all of us, he shifted and the first move he made was to me, snapping his jaws hard. There was little to no range of movement since his huge form had taken over the room and I knew that I had to get out of his reach and what better way of controlling a wolf than sitting on its head. One jump off his table, off the wall and I was seated right on his neck. He didn't seem to like that and he kept tryin
ROSHIDA“We don’t plan to keep you. You didn’t do anything good as a Luna so someone else will be taking your place. All that you need to leave behind is some money for the pack so that a few things will be fixed. I mean, it won’t make sense for you to leave with everything.”I'm very sure that within two months of being married to Felix, Kelly would be fed up.They were overbearing and self centered. But oh well, she wouldn't be able to get out of it because she had asked for this and now, she finally got it. I turned to face Grace because I had something to say to her. She kept repeating something over and over again and it was pissing me off.“You say I can’t leave with the money. But it’s my money so what business do you have with it? You say I’m not the Luna but you want my money. If I'm not a good Luna, then surely my money isn't good either. Things can’t work that way. If I’m leaving, then I’m taking everything with me.”She turned to Felix as if asking him to say something to
ROSHIDAI originally didn't want to go into his office but then, when I heard him and his mother talking about me and how he had a meeting with the Elders to discuss the rejection, I figured I needed him to see me and let him see that I didn't care about it. He could do whatever he wanted. When I snatched the letter from him and he got all defensive, I knew I had to read it. I didn't know what he was planning behind my back. The letter was not too lengthy and it was very straight to the point. “Dear Felix,If everything does go according to plan and you end up rejecting Roshida as planned, make sure to take everything that belongs to her. She is ungrateful and she needs to learn not to bite the hand that has fed her since she came here. She will have to learn the hard way to not be stingy with what she has. Make sure that you take everything from her and strip her of everything. Remember she's the reason things aren't going so well anymore.Your Luna,Kelly.”I dropped the lette
