5 years later
Kevin’s POV
I awoke from a dream, opened my eyes, turned over, and found a naked unfamiliar female wolf beside me. I furrowed my brow, sat up; yesterday's drinking had left my head slightly dizzy.
"Good morning, Alpha Kevin." The female wolf lay half-propped, caressing my neck seductively. "Alpha, you were wild yesterday. I'm all weak and wet now, can hardly stand."
"Now, leave."
She looked briefly surprised, then nervously licked my ear. "Alpha Kevin, fuck me again."
"Don't make me say it a second time." I growled lowly, fed up with the strong perfume scent, pushing her away.
She trembled, grabbed a random shirt, and hurriedly fled.
I stared at the closed door, my eyes filled with gloom. Beta Liam's taste in women was truly lacking. I dialed Liam's phone. "Liam, come to my room now."
Before he could answer, I stood naked and walked into the bathroom.
15 minutes later, I emerged from the bathroom.
Beta Liam stood by the bed, staring at the torn clothes scattered on the floor, cautiously breathing.
I lightly teased, "Huh? Liam, don't tell me you can't handle the scent of sex? Don't tell me you're still a virgin."
Liam shook his head seriously, "No, Alpha, it's just the scent is too intense. You must've had quite a release yesterday. So, what did you call me for?"
I remained silent for a moment. "Have you found Ella?"
"No, in these five years, we've scoured the entire supernatural realm, even human activity areas, but found no trace of her." Beta Liam looked at me cautiously. "Alpha, Ella might... might be dead."
My eyes darkened. "Kill all the black wolves in the dungeons."
"All of them?" Liam looked uneasy. "Alpha, in these five years, we've killed too many black wolves. We investigated; those black wolves weren't true Rogues. They were former members of the Black Moon Pack, likely victims of the Rogues themselves."
"So what? Better to kill a hundred wrongly than let one go. I want every black wolf to pay the price!" I roared furiously.
On that night five years ago, Ella left me. Ella's mother died to save me, and Ella sacrificed herself so I could survive. I hated myself until I lost Ella, understanding how important she was to me. I trained like a madman, became a stronger wolf, and expanded the Blood Moon Pack for revenge against the black wolves.
All these years, I've had my subordinates relentlessly search that area near the lake. All they found were piles of bones. I don't believe those belonged to Ella. I've sent werewolves to scour the supernatural realm, still finding no sign of her. My despair and frenzy intensified, venting by killing black wolves.
"Don't make me say it a second time. Order all Blood Moon Pack werewolves, no black wolf should be left alive."
"Understood, Alpha."
After Liam left the room, in anger, I smashed all the teacups on the table, defeatedly slumping back into the wooden chair.
Look at you, Kevin, this soulless appearance, you deserve it.
My wolf came out to mock, just like in these past five years.
I ignored it, but it continued.
You rejected our mate, and had no ability to protect her. Kevin, I must say, you're the most failed alpha.
"Enough, Eric, I know it's my fault. Can you stop bringing it up all the time?" My mood became increasingly irritable.
Hmph, I should be the one angry; you foolish human! I've warned you countless times not to go against the fate granted by the Moon Goddess. But you persist, and now I've lost my mate too. If I had a physical form, I'd have beaten you black and blue long ago.
Wolf paced restlessly within me, and to avoid our growing conflict, I sighed helplessly. 'I understand, Eric, no matter what, we need to look forward, right?'
It remained silent, regaining calm.
In the evening, father Peter Allen summoned me back to the Blood Moon Pack camp.
In the study, he wore a serious expression. “Kevin, I heard you ordered the Blood Moon Pack werewolves to kill all black wolves?”
"Yes, Father."
"Kevin, you're absolutely confused. While the Black Moon Pack werewolves and the Rogues who killed Ariana and Ella are black wolves, they were once part of the same group. After internal unrest, some black wolves formed a new faction as Rogues. But there are still some black wolves who are good, innocent."
"So what? Outsiders always have different hearts. No one can predict that those so-called innocent black wolves won't betray and join the Rogues. They killed our werewolves first, so they must all pay." I said, devoid of any mercy. "Father, I am now the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. I have my judgment, besides this, please do not interfere."
Father stared at my red eyes, his tone weakened. "Kevin, you've changed, become more ruthless, bloodthirsty."
At night, Red Rose Club.
I lazily lounged on the sofa, sipping a cocktail, my eyes blurred, fixed on the sexy dancers in the club. They occasionally cast seductive glances at me, but I merely smirked, feeling nothing inside.
Women were all the same to me—just for sex and pleasure.
Thinking of Father's assessment, I smirked devilishly. Indeed, I had become much more ruthless.
"Hi, Alpha Kevin, can we keep you company?" Two she-wolves approached with drinks, dressed provocatively, revealing half of their breasts.
They sat on either side of me. I glanced at them but did not refuse. The she-wolf on the right, in a purple skirt, was bolder, her hand slowly slipping into my chest, teasingly gazing at me. The other she-wolf licked my ear, her breasts pressing against my arm.
I caressed the she-wolf's buttocks, my gaze unfocused, starting to enjoy it.
Suddenly, I caught a familiar scent—pear blossom mixed with a hint of lemon. My brain snapped awake instantly.
I pushed away the two she-wolves frantically, running madly in that direction. I smelled the fresh air like a drowning person, greedily seeking that scent.
"Ella!"
Mate!
My wolf also excitedly shouted.
I dashed through the crowd, searching for her figure, and saw a woman with golden hair. My pupils dilated, and as I reached out my hand to touch her shoulder, I felt a cold sensation on my face. For a moment, my vision blurred, and that woman disappeared without a trace.
I stared in shock at the drink in my hand, a storm raging within me.
That woman was Ella, wasn't she?
Anna’s POV Blue River Clan “Anna, why are you coming back so late? Where have you been these days? The number of patients in the tribe has increased, and my back almost broke from the workload. You've been nowhere to be seen, and I almost had Alpha Oscar send someone to look for you.” A woman around 70 years old, with white hair and a bulky figure, leaned on a cane in her left hand and held a jar of liquor in her right, standing at the clinic's entrance, drinking and babbling. Sorry, Camila, I got too engrossed in picking herbs on the mountain and got lost in the forest. I expressed my apology through sign language, then grabbed Camila's alcohol. "Hmph, I knew you'd get lost in the herb picking, stuck in the forest. Wait, Anna, don't touch my alcohol!" Camila glared at me grumpily. You're getting old, drinking is bad for your health. I continued signing, but Camila didn't take it seriously. “One lives only once, so one must enjoy life. I'm almost heading to the grave anyway, d
Anna’s POV"I heard that Willow's cousin Lisa was subjected to a caning and was expelled from the Blue Moon Pack.""Wow, why? Lisa has always had a close relationship with Mrs. Willow. How could Mrs. Willow let her face such a severe punishment?""Keep it down, Lisa committed a serious crime. She poisoned Luna Willow and tried to sow discord between Alpha Oscar's two wives…"I rolled up my sleeves by the river, focusing on washing clothes, ignoring the whispers. After finishing, I left the river and carried a bamboo basket into the forest to collect herbs. To be honest, I'm not a very social wolf. Ever since my mother died, it's as if I lost the ability to form connections with others. I prefer communicating with herbs and finding the true masterminds behind my mother's murder—the leaders of those Rogues."Hey, mute Omega, off to the woods alone again."A familiar man's teasing voice echoed in the tranquil mountains. I furrowed my brow and continued deeper into the woods. Yet, the mal
Kevin’s POV "Alpha Kevin, I can divine information about your mate for you. But as you know, our witches never engage in losing deals. What can you offer me?" The redhead witch stood before a huge crystal ball, adjusted her glasses, and kindly smiled. "What do you desire?" "Your lifespan, ten years of your life." "Deal," I said without hesitation. "Wait, Alpha, perhaps we have other ways to find Ella. But trading ten years of your life is too heavy a price," Beta Liam urgently interrupted. "Werewolves live for 200 years, a mere ten years, I don't mind." "But, Alpha, you are our leader, your status is noble. How can we ascertain if the information this witch provides is accurate? What if she deceives us, and your ten years of life are wasted?" "Wolf, what are you saying? Our red witches' divination is renowned in the supernatural realm. If you doubt me, leave now." The witch's expression turned severe as she closed her magic book. "Jennie, escort our guest out!" "Understood."
Liam’ POV“Liam, how do I look now?” In the carriage, Alpha Kevin asked me seriously, combing his hair neatly back, resembling a gentleman."What?" I was very puzzled."I mean, do I look attractive? You know, the kind that makes women fall for me." He said somewhat uneasily, sitting upright."Y-yes, Alpha, undoubtedly, you are the most handsome and charming male wolf in the Blood Moon Pack, that's beyond doubt." I said earnestly, hoping my answer wouldn't offend him.In my five years as Alpha Kevin's Beta, it was the first time I had seen him so excited and anxious. This was entirely different from his usual cold and steady demeanor. Over these years, women to him were like changing clothes. Even my sister, Maya, the acknowledged beautiful female wolf of the Blood Moon Pack, hadn't taken his attention away. I had thought he was a complete playboy, but now his behavior was akin to a young male wolf experiencing first love, and it made me want to laugh."Very well." Alpha Kevin relaxed
Kevin’s POVElla had undergone significant changes; she had grown, emanating resilience and confidence that had matured during the years unknown to me. At the thought of this, guilt overwhelmed me. Beta Ariana, before her death, entrusted me with taking care of her, a promise I broke. Her appearance had changed drastically too. Her hair had turned golden, and her eyes were now a light hazel, similar to her mother's, portraying a beautiful mother wolf. The overwhelming rush of emotions almost made me tear up; I felt an urge to hug her, my wolf stirring with excitement. The feeling of regaining what was lost was damn satisfying, Kevin! Our mate is beautiful, sexier than any mother wolf we've seen before, right?I silently agreed within me, captivated by Ella. Greedily, I breathed in her scent, but her vigilant and angry gaze prevented me from embracing her and taking her back to the Blood Moon Pack.Hey, quickly talk to her, tell her your thoughts, express your apologies, beg for her fo
Kevin's POVI leaned against the edge of the bed, my mood extremely gloomy. Liam conscientiously laid out a mat on the floor without disturbing me.Anna Edwards...The woman claimed that was her name, but I wouldn't easily be swayed. I would stay here and uncover the truth.Glances from the right occasionally made their way to me. Irritated, I looked at Liam. "What's up, speak.""Alpha, isn't that woman's attitude a bit disrespectful? She arranged such a shabby room for you. Look at the firewood over there; I seriously suspect this used to be a woodshed."I glanced in the direction Liam pointed, where neatly cut branches were piled up, and spiderwebs adorned the eaves."Clean up this room again.""Alright, Alpha."After Liam cleaned the room, it was already early morning. Moonlight streamed in from the window, and the rustling sound of leaves outside accompanied Liam's snoring. I had no sleep, attempting to communicate with my wolf.Me: Eric, did the Moon Goddess really choose a secon
Anna's POVIn the afternoon, I carried a medical kit to treat the hunter's son. Kevin followed behind me, and I ignored him; he didn't speak either.I deliberately chose a less crowded path to avoid any sudden speaking that might raise suspicions about my previous muteness, in case Kevin discovered it. Luckily, this hunter's family had minimal contact with others, and they probably wouldn't see through me.Seeing the fence with animal bones hanging about ten meters away, I guessed it was the home of the hunter, Zachary. Zachary was a renowned warrior of the Blue River Pack, who fought with five lion shifters in the woods seven years ago, saving his son Tony but injuring his leg. He retired from being the Alpha's guard and became a hunter."Hello, are you the physician from Camila's clinic? Please come in." Zachary's figure was much more robust than an ordinary male wolf. He had a large beard, and he hobbled to us, sounding very anxious."Camila should have told you about Tony's sympto
Anna's POVIn the following week, I rushed to Camila's study every day, tirelessly researching methods to save Tony's life.I diligently flipped through one yellowed medical book after another until the seventh day when I found a page with the title "Dreamshade."Kevin leaned on the desk, dragging his chin, lazily saying, "Anna, even if you don't find a solution, no one will blame you."I ignored him, fingers moving down rows of densely packed text, stopping at the section titled "Measures After Poisoning."For patients in a dream for more than 48 hours, only active venom can treat them.I fell into contemplation. In other words, ordinary herbal juices cannot counteract Dreamshade. Only a life-infused liquid can survive in Tony's body, purging the toxins throughout his system."Have you found the answer?"I nodded, packed medical supplies, and hurried to Zachary's house, hoping that there was still time.Upon reaching the hunter's house, I knocked on the tightly closed door, receiving
Maya's POVI looked back at the door with panic as I packed my stuff into a bag. I had to leave here soon if I wanted to stay alive. Those sly girls. I shouldn't have trusted them. They had gone to the palace to check out my story and ended up telling the palace guards what I had told them and now, those ones were at the door threatening to break it down if I didn't open up and follow them to the palace at the order of the alpha's father."Open this door, Maya. We know you are in there." The head guard roared.I shook my head, forcing myself to remain calm through the hysteria I felt. I wouldn't be tricked. They couldn't have known I was in here. I had seen them from afar before they got to the door and rushed to my bedroom to pack my stuff. I had been moving silently through the bedroom as I packed my stuff and dumped them into a travel bag. There was no way they could have heard me even with their supernatural hearing."Maya, by the order of the alpha, we demand that you open this d
Melody's POV"How did you find me?" I asked once we were back to safety."I got to where we were to meet but didn't find you. I was looking for you with Neo and Nick when I heard you scream and knew something was wrong. I called dad and we traced your scent." Nathan said.I shook my head. Everything he said was confusing. He couldn't have heard me when I was far away. How could he have traced my scent when he didn't have a dog with him?""You brought a dog?" I asked."A dog?" Nick asked, looking confused."You said you traced my scent. Didn't you do that with a dog?"The boys looked at one another and laughed. "I thought you just heard dad say we were werewolves."My eyes rounded with surprise. I wondered how many surprises I was going to have to deal with today. "He wasn't kidding. I thought he was only trying to scare the witch.""My dad doesn't make empty threats."I sucked in a breath. "You are really werewolves? Can you prove it?"The boys looked unsettled. "I don't think that is
Melody's POV"Why didn't you use the drug I gave you?" She asked.I frowned, wondering what she was talking about. "Which drug?"She snorted. "The drug I gave the other day when you complained of headaches.""I told you I used it.""You lied to me that day and I knew it. If you had used the drug, you would have been dead in the next five minutes after using it."I went pale. "I'm glad I didn't use it.""You left me no choice but to do this. I was trying to make your death painless but I guess you love pain." She smiled."Why do you want to kill me?" I didn't understand her. How could a little girl like her think of killing me?"Why do you hate sweets?""It's bad for me.""Good." She cackled. "I want to kill you because you are bad for me. You can't be allowed to grow up. You would ruin my plans.""How can you know what would happen to me in the future?""Because I know." She smirked and right before my eyes, started changing until she became a grown woman with gnarled fingers and an u
Melody's POVThe school trip was boring, more than I thought it would be. It wasn't that I had great hopes for it but I hated how I was disappointed. This wasn't it. The teachers should have just given us a free day and told us to stay at home if they didn't want to teach today rather than bringing us to a place as dry as this. The other kids were playing a game to pass the time but I wasn't interested in it. The game was boring to me as well. I stayed off from them so they wouldn't drag me into their boring game against my wish."Why are you here alone?" Nathan asked as he walked towards me.He was alone and I wondered where his brothers were."I was bored. This place is dry." I replied. "I want to go home."He chuckled. "I know. Me too. I can't believe I was looking forward so much to this.""I wasn't." I confessed. He nodded. "Too bad that we can't go home until the teachers say we can.""Why don't we play a game together?" I asked, gearing with excitement as the idea popped into m
Nathan's POVEve was back immediately the teacher left. "Aren't you excited about the trip? There is so much we can get done."I snorted. So much like what? The girl was too strange for my liking. I had been focused on the dangers of the school trip and didn't remember that Eve was here until she popped her unwanted face again. She turned to Melody, ignoring my snort. "How does your head feel now? Have you taken the drug?" She asked."Yes, my head feels better now. Thank you.""You used the drug?" Eve asked, confirming she had heard right."Yes." Melody lied. The drug was on the ground, under her shoe."I didn't see you take it.""Were you watching her?" I frowned."I was worried about her." Eve replied."I took it immediately you turned your back and walked back to your seat. I slipped it into my mouth then."Eve stared at Melody for a long time, looking as if she didn't believe her. Eventually, she nodded to herself and walked back to her seat without a word.I frowned. "You should
Maya's POVI was brimming with excitement and anxiety that both emotions bothered on hyperactivity. I felt like a child again. I felt like I was finally living after all these days of feeling dead and numb.Who could have believed that it was Kevin and Ella who made me go numb and dead inside and it was also because of them that I would feel alive again?I was excited. This was my chance to get back at Kevin for breaking my heart and Ella for stealing the position that belonged to me.I loved karma. I couldn't believe it was finally working for me after all these years and deciding to fight on my behalf. They shouldn't have messed with me. In Kevin's next life, I hoped he would think twice before hurting another female. The only person I felt for in this revenge scheme of mine was Liam but I didn't care much about him as much as I cared about what I was to do. He was going to be affected as he was always by Kevin's side and also going to be heartbroken as he was an annoyingly loyal be
Neo's POVMelody had to be kidding me. How could she have brought another person into our circle? This wasn't the time to get friendly with strangers. She didn't even know this girl for up to a day and she was already being friends with her and having her eat with us. I couldn't believe her guts. She was unbelievable. For all I knew, this girl was not an ordinary girl. I forced myself to calm down, reminding myself that she didn't know of the dangers that lay ahead of her. She didn't know that she had to be careful and was being her usual bubbly self. It wasn't her fault that I had begun to suspect everyone and everyone that crossed my path. It wasn't her fault at all.I looked at Eve and wondered if she was oblivious to how my brothers and I felt about her or was just trying to be stubborn. She would have known since that we weren't open to her being here with our scowls and I thought that she would have excused herself.Wouldn't it be better for her to leave and eat alone than eat h
Melody's POV"Can we eat lunch together?" She suddenly asked, just before we got to class."I... I uh..." I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to tell her that I already made plans for lunch so it wouldn't seem like I was trying to reject her."I am not trying to do anything." She began.I frowned, wondering what she meant by that. I never said she was trying to do anything. She continued. "The thing is, I have a lot of friends at the school where I transferred from and I'm not used to eating alone. You seem kind and moreover, you were the first person to smile at me here and that was why I thought that we could be friends. I only asked if we could eat lunch together because I already see you as a friend."I sighed. She was extremely chatty but I preferred that to her crying. I understood what she was trying to say and found myself nodding in agreement before thinking it through. I knew how much it sucked to eat alone in a large gathering of people. It was awkward feeling to f
Melody's POVThe boys had adapted to being my friends again and I was relieved that I didn't have to worry about them suffocating me with their overprotectiveness."Where should we hang out during break time?" I asked them as we saw one another in the morning and moved towards the school entrance."Take care of yourself, kids." Uncle Liam said and waved as he turned and walked away from us."Should we hang out in the garden?" Neo suggested. "I love the smell of flowers.""Me too." I agreed, smiling at them. "I also love flowers." I also loved being in the garden with the boys. They knew so much about flowers that I always learn something new from them. I wondered where they had learned about flowers from. The bell rang to signify the start of the classes and I watched as our homeroom teacher walked in, with a new student by her side. The girl seemed shy and I felt my heart move towards her. I remembered how nervous I had been on my first day here as well, wondering what my new classma
