"I hate this life!" I shouted to myself after the whole stress of the day.

I had always dreamed to live a good life, be a Luna or even a Beta werewolf but when life would have its way, I was born as an Omega.

I am Leonora, an Omega of the Moonshine pack. I am an orphan who works at the pack's forgery. I am one of those that deal with the package and designing of the pack's weapons. All I yearned for in my life is to find my mate who will complete me. My dream almost came through when I met my mate. I was just seventeen then.

I was returning home from the Moonlight pack's weapon house when the icy dusk shed an ethereal glow over the land. The sound of forging swords could be heard across the area, and there was also the aroma of recently made weapons. I took delight in my work as a member tasked with arranging and artistically embellishing these weapons since I knew I had a hand in making something both beautiful and lethal.

On this particular night, though, as I trekked across the snow-covered road, a strange sensation stopped me in my tracks and made me feel as though an electric charge was coursing through me. I rubbed my brow and my heart beat faster as I sought to understand this strange sensation.

It appeared as though the cosmos itself was working to send a message.

The voice of my wolf, ever perceptive, carried a mixture of joy and caution as it spoke in my head. Its words resounded in the back of my mind, "Our mate is near," it informed me. I couldn't help but ponder who this enigmatic being—the one destined to complete me—could be as my eyes widened with eagerness.

My mate's seductive aroma lingered in the air, tempting me to follow its trail. I couldn't ignore the call, so I set off on a journey with a powerful mix of curiosity, longing, and hope to guide me along the way. The aroma guided me deeper into the forest, where silvery shadows were created on the trees by the moonlight dancing on the frozen ground.

Then I heard them—quiet, private moans coming from a nearby cave. As I drew near, my heart began to pound in my chest and my pulse quickened. I gingerly entered the cave, my fragile sense of anticipation being shattered by what I saw inside.

My mate, Louis, was lying there, wrapped around someone else in the poorly lighted cave. The pain that overcame me was accompanied by a wave of disbelief. I had anticipated running into him and seeing his eyes light up with love and recognition. I discovered him, though, spending private time with someone else.

My instincts begged me to go, to get as far away from this horrible scene as I could. However, it was too late. They were aware of me, locking their gaze with mine in a perplexing expression of astonishment and annoyance. When they finally understood, Louis, my alleged mate, looked at me with a face filled with resentment and disappointment.

His words stabbed me in the heart like a thousand daggers. "You," he snarled, his voice dripping with contempt, "you're my mate? You are rejected by me, Louis, a Moonshine Beta werewolf. What's your name, please? He sadly questioned.

"Leonora," I said.

"I, Louis, a Beta werewolf of the Moonshine pack, break our mate's bond and reject you, Leonora."

As the rejection seeped deeply into my soul, tears began to form in my eyes. I wanted to scream and beg for an explanation, but I was unable to do so with my voice. I turned away with a broken heart and hurried out of the cave to return to the seclusion of my house.

Back in my room, the walls witnessed the anguish that consumed me. I crumbled onto the bed, clutching at the sheets, and wept. The tears flowed freely, carrying with them the weight of dashed hopes and shattered dreams. The pain was unbearable, for I had dared to believe in the possibility of finding my mate, only to be discarded and denied by the very one my heart had yearned for.

It's been two years already and my perspective on life has changed. I decided to give up love since there seems to be no hope for me anymore.

I just made sure that I got better at my work and I did well every time but one thing about this job is that it is too stressful. From cleaning to drawing, painting, and arranging. It's not an easy task at all. I feel tired every day I come back from work.

I am used to this though, although the work is a lot of pain, I still enjoy it because I am doing what I love. Painting and drawing has been a thing I loved doing since when I was young even before my parent's death.

My mum died after she gave birth to me so my dad has been the person taking good care of me. He plays the role of a father and mother at the same time. He never tried to find a second chance mate or something as he is scared that he might end up providing me with an evil stepmother.

One day, a rival pack attacked our pack. My dad was part of the Pack's army. As an Omega, they were puns on the battlefield but my dad has always survived every battle but this particular one took his life. I was just ten years old then when my dad. I was devastated and didn't know what to do.

I was fortunate that some people in the pack cared about me and made sure I was taken good care of. Even though I was free-range and never lived with any of them. I was always in my parent's home so I yearned for a mate a lot but since I was rejected by my mate, there was nothing I could do.

*******

"Hurry up!" my wolf whispered to me.

"You have to run as fast as you can to meet him. He is here. Our mate is here."

I was bothered about who this person could be. Is he from our pack or another? I kept on running and following his trail. My wolf side was making me energetic and I didn't get exhausted. It was as if my energy channel was opened and I could feel how strong I was.

As I was about to move closer to him, I was so happy about it. Finally, I am going to be meeting my new mate, or is he the former one?

I kept running like a wild spirit. As I was about to get to where he was and see what he looked like, I tripped off and fell flat on the ground. My legs went numb and I couldn't stand up. My mate heard that and he was coming towards my side to help me. As he was about to get to my place, I woke up.

"So it was all a dream," I thought.

It felt real that I never believed that it was a mere dream. But what could this dream mean? And who was the person I was trying to chase?
