57 - The Great Disappointment

[Still with Matthias' POV]

Estella cried and threw her arms around me after removing the syringe from her grasp. Her crying was so loud that my focus was lost, and I couldn't think of anything but trying to calm her down.

"Estella, don't cry," I pleaded. She was still crying hysterically even after I rubbed the top of her head and stroked her back. "Don't cry if no one wants to come into this room and be suspicious of you."

"Sobs ..." Finally her sobs subsided. Her shoulders trembled and with a face full of wet tears, she looked up to look at me with her pleading eyes.

"Please, don't put me in prison. I don't want to, Matthias!" she sobbed in agony. She did not let go of my embrace.

"You misunderstand! I'm doing this for both of us! I'm doing it so you can be king!" she screamed again in a voice that sounded so desperate.

My eyebrows knitted together in confusion as my brain digested her sudden words. "What do you mean? Are you talking about Arthur's stabbing case?"
