Chapter Sixty-Four: The Hunt Begins

The rain hadn’t stopped.

It lashed against the penthouse windows, a steady drumbeat that mirrored the storm inside Sofia’s chest.

Aaron hadn’t left her side all night.

Neither of them had slept.

Not after finding Chloe’s message.

Not with the twins so close—so vulnerable.

But Aaron wasn’t just protective anymore.

He was on edge.

Like a predator waiting for the moment to strike back.

Aaron stood behind Lucas, arms crossed, tension radiating from his rigid posture.

“Nothing yet,” Lucas muttered. “No forced entry. No security breaches.”

Aaron’s voice was low and lethal.

“She got in. There has to be something we’re missing.”

Lucas exhaled sharply.

“Unless…”

He zoomed in on the footage of the masked figure from the staff elevator, pausing when the figure hovered near the hallway—just outside the twins’ room.

“Pause there,” Aaron ordered.

Lucas froze the frame.

Aaron leaned closer, his sharp eyes narrowing.

The figure wasn’t just lingering.

The gun pressed to her temple felt like a ticking time bomb—one wrong move and it would all be over. Aaron's grip on his weapon tightened, his breath ragged, blood seeping from his side. But his focus never wavered. Eric’s voice was steady, but there was a crack beneath it—a tell. He was scared. "Drop the gun, Aaron. Or the girl dies." Sofia's heart pounded so violently it drowned everything else out. Aria. Liam. Her babies. She saw the tremor in Eric's hand, the unsteady grip. He was panicking, unstable, dangerous. But Aaron was controlled, calculated. His voice dropped to a deadly whisper. "You won’t walk out of here alive if you hurt them." Eric's grip shifted, just enough to adjust his aim. Aaron saw it. Chapter Sixty-Nine: Tensions Ignite Aaron stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of his penthouse, his eyes fixed on the glittering city lights below. His hands were still bandaged from the shattered glass the night before, but the pain barely registered. His thoughts were elsewhere, consumed by the events that had spiraled out of control.Marcus Renaud. The name echoed in his mind like a curse. He hadn’t expected another powerful enemy to enter their lives after everything with Chloe. But Marcus was different—calculated, merciless, and personal. This wasn’t just about power or business. It was about *control*. Sofia’s call had been a warning. Aaron knew what was coming, and he wasn’t going to sit back and wait for the next strike.Lucas entered the room, his expression tense but determined. He tossed a folder onto the table."Marcus has been busy," Lucas said. "We’ve traced several of his recent moves. He’s targeting suppliers and investors in our European and West African operati

Chapter Seventy: Into the Lion’s Den The next night came quickly. The tension between Aaron and Sofia was palpable as they entered the grand ballroom of the Renaud estate. The charity gala sparkled with wealth and power, but beneath the glamour lurked something dangerous. Every guest seemed to have an agenda. Every glance held suspicion.Aaron’s eyes scanned the crowd, his senses sharp. He wasn’t here to play nice. This was enemy territory, and he knew Marcus was watching. “Stay close,” he murmured to Sofia as he guided her through the room. Sofia nodded, her posture tense but composed. Her emerald-green gown shimmered under the chandeliers, drawing stares from various guests, but she ignored them. Her mind was focused on one thing—finding Marcus and ending this game. “Lucas should be inside by now,” Aaron said quietly, his hand resting lightly on her lower back. “He’ll monitor from the security room.” “Good,” Sofia whispered. “The sooner we get what we need, the better.”

This was a message: Marcus was no longer untouchable.Inside the vehicle, tension simmered. Aaron sat in the passenger seat, his gaze dark and focused. Sofia sat behind him, her nerves steady but alert. Lucas drove with precision, his phone on speaker as one of their operatives gave an update. “The warehouse is lightly guarded for now,” the voice reported. “We’ve spotted a handful of Marcus’s men patrolling the perimeter. But something feels off—like they’re expecting a distraction.” “Let them expect it,” Aaron said coldly. “We’re not here for subtlety.” Lucas grinned briefly. “That’s what I was hoping to hear.” Sofia leaned forward. “If they know we’re coming, they could be baiting us into a tr

Chapter One Hundred and Seven: Hell UnleashedThe safe house was a fortress deep in the countryside, surrounded by thick woods and fortified with state-of-the-art security. Yet neither Aaron nor Sofia felt completely safe anymore. Volkov and Damon had escalated to open war, and there was no telling what their next move would be.As they entered the command room of the safe house, Lucas was already coordinating with their security teams. Large monitors displayed real-time footage of key locations—Aaron’s business headquarters, their estate, and various assets targeted by Damon’s network.Lucas turned to them, his face tense but determined. “We’ve identified a critical vulnerability in Volkov’s operation. His main weapons storage facility is located near the docks on the south side of the city. If we take it out, we cripple his supply chain.”Aaron nodded sharply. “Good. We hit it tonight.”Sofia raised a brow. “You’re planning a full assault?”“This isn’t a game anymore, Sofia,” Aaron

After the sniper attack, Aaron had decided it was time to move Sofia and the twins to a secure location outside the city. But both of them knew Damon and Volkov wouldn’t make it easy.Lucas’s voice crackled over the comms. “Route is clear so far, but don’t relax. We’ve intercepted chatter—Volkov’s men know we’re on the move.”Aaron clenched his jaw. “Keep all units on high alert. Any signs of trouble, and we go full defense.”Sofia reached for his hand, squeezing it tightly. “We’re going to be okay,” she whispered, her eyes filled with quiet determination. “They won’t win.”Aaron glanced at her, his expression softening for a moment. “Not a chance. All she could feel was the suffocating pressure in her chest. Damon’s name had resurfaced like a ghost from the darkest part of her past, and now that ghost was trying to destroy everything she had with Aaron.Behind her, Aaron hesitated at the doorway, watching her with conflicted eyes. He wanted to go to her, to pull her into his arms and tell her that he believed her without question. But the fear and responsibility pressing on him were overwhelming. He had seen too many betrayals in his life to simply dismiss the threat Damon posed.Sofia sensed his presence without turning around. "Are you just going to stand there?" she asked quietly, her voice void of its usual warmth. "Or are you going to tell me how you really feel?"Aaron exhaled slowly and stepped onto the terrace. But fate was rarely kind, and neither of them knew the storm that was already gathering, threatening to tear them apart.Aaron’s phone buzzed on the nightstand, its sharp vibration breaking the serene silence. He groaned softly, reluctant to move from Sofia’s embrace. But when he saw the caller ID, his demeanor shifted. It was Lucas, and Lucas never called unless it was urgent.“I have to take this,” Aaron murmured, kissing Sofia softly before slipping out of bed. He wrapped a robe around himself and stepped onto the terrace to take the call. “Lucas, what is it?” Aaron asked, his voice still laced with sleep.“We have a problem,” Lucas said, his tone grim. “It’s about Konstantin. Their shared heat was all-consuming, an unbreakable bond forged through passion, survival, and unwavering love.Aaron tightened his hold on her as he sensed her movement. "Good morning," he murmured, his deep voice sending pleasant shivers down her spine. He brushed his lips along her shoulder, leaving a trail of kisses."Morning," Sofia whispered, smiling softly as she turned in his arms. Chapter Ninety-Eight: Fire Beneath the StarsThe night air was cool, but within the penthouse’s private terrace, the heat between Aaron and Sofia was palpable. The view of the shimmering city stretched before them, but neither paid attention to the lights. All their focus was on each other. Aaron stood before Sofia, his shirt already discarded, his muscled chest glistening under the faint glow of the moon. Sofia reached out, running her hands over the hard lines of his body. Her touch was soft, but the effect on Aaron was immediate—his muscles tightened under her fingertips, his breath quickening.“You’re staring again,” Aaron teased, his voice husky, though laced with warmth.“Can you blame me?” Sofia replied, her lips curving into a playful smile. “You look like a dream.” “Funny,” Aaron murmured, stepping closer and cupping her face gently. “Because I’ve been dreaming about this moment all day.”He tilted her chin up and kissed her deeply, his lips warm and demanding.
