Riley's Pov

I was taken aback by his hug. I wasn't expecting that. I was in shock until he whispered in my ear. "The elders are here. "We have to pretend to be close."

Oh!! Now I get it. I forced a smile and hugged him back. "I was so worried about you." I said and pulled away while he stroked my hair.

I felt the atmosphere around me chill, and goosebumps were all over my skin. I slowly turned and caught Darius's gaze. His hawk-like gray eyes were staring at me as if piercing deep into my soul.

I quickly looked down and swallowed hard. Looking at him will only make me lose my stance and probably fall.

"Alpha, you would have told us about your plan before going ahead." "What if something bad had happened to you?" Bruno asked, walking closer to the Alpha.
