4| Chosen Mates?

"Sons, we have decided something important. It's about your mates and the future Lunas of the Kingdom." The Alpha started.

Aurora's heartbeat stopped for a moment.

She is their mate and no one has any idea about it. What does the Alpha wish to speak about their mate? She couldn't help but think about it. Did the Alpha get to know that she is their mate? Her heart dropped at this thought.

The Knights will kill her for sure if someone gets to know that she is their mate. They won't have a second thought as they will kill her with their bare hands.

There was a dead silence which was broken by Dominic.

"What do you wish to speak about it? " He asked in a cold voice which sent chills down everyone's spine.

"You all are twenty six years old now, soon to turn twenty seven. If you didn't find your mates on your twenty-seventh birthday then you will have to take other girls as your chosen mate." The Alpha said in a firm voice.

Aurora's face paled hearing him. The Alpha wants them to take others as their mates? She couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt inside her heart. The image of other girls with her mates appeared in her eyes and her heart broke into many pieces at the imagination itself. She couldn't imagine her mates with someone else. The pain which she was feeling inside her couldn't be explained in words. Tears formed in her ocean like eyes which reflected her pain.

She raised her teary eyes and looked at her mates. They were sitting on the chair with a blank expression on their face and eyes void of any emotion.

Dominic looked at her and she shuddered when his dark eyes met sapphire ones. She immediately lowered her eyes and dropped her gaze to the ground.

Dominic shifted his gaze from Aurora and looked at his father. "You know we don't want a mate." He stated in a tone which left no room for discussion.

"We are aware of it but you three need to realise your responsibility towards the Kingdom. You all haven't found your mates and until you don't claim someone as your mates, you won't be the Alphas of the pack. I want my sons to take control over their birthright and it will happen only when you will choose someone as your mate because I don't see the possibility of you three having a real mate." The Alpha said in a deep voice which was filled with Authority yet concern for his sons.

"We don't need a mate to claim our birthright. The pack is ours and we will rule it without a mate." Xavier said in his dark voice.

"You know it's not possible." The luna said with a sigh. "It's a rule of our pack to have a mate before you become an Alpha. It has been going on for years and years and it can't be changed."

Xavier clenched his jaw hearing her. He doesn't want a bloody mate!

"You don't get to decide if we choose a mate or not." Aiden said in a commanding tone.

Aurora felt relief rushing into her after hearing them. She is glad that they didn't choose someone as their mate and rejected the idea right away. She will die rather than see her mates with someone else.

"But we can decide if the Alpha's position will be handed to you or not. Don't forget that I am still the Alpha. I can give the position to any of my nephews and they don't reject the offer. It's up to you three to decide if you want the Alpha's position or not." The Alpha said.

The Knights were in rage after hearing him. They didn't like being told what to do. They make others follow their orders, not the other way around.

They didn't want a mate because according to them mate makes you nothing but weak. Mate softens your heart and makes you crumble to your knees, giving a chance to the opponent to defeat you and they aren't a fool to let this happen. They want to conquer the world, not ruled by some weak pathetic mate.

"What do you want us to do?" Aiden asked, his tone expressing how much anger he was trying to control.

"Choose a mate for yourself on your twenty-seventh birthday. We are going to invite many powerful and well known Alpha's with their daughters. You can select anyone from them." The Alpha said in a suggestive tone.

The Knights didn't said anything. They were thinking about it. As much as they don't want a mate, they know that without a mate they won't become the Alphas of the pack. By choosing a mate, they will have to make a sacrifice to become the Alphas.

"We are ready." Xavier said, his voice was above a whisper but it was powerful and clear for everyone to hear. "We will have a mate but only on one condition."

Aurora's heart broke into many pieces hearing him. She felt like a dagger was dug into her heart. Her mates are ready to take another women as their mates, they are ready to replace her. Her eyes became red from the tears and she felt like she was burning in pain.

She can't see them with others.

"And what is the condition?" The Alpha asked. He was glad that at least they were ready to choose a mate.

"The girls need to be powerful, carrying Alpha genes in them and not invading our work." Aiden spoke and the Alpha agreed immediately. "Of course, I will make sure that the girls know this condition before they are presented in front of you three."

The luna smiled at her sons. "I am proud of the decision you made." She said.

Aurora was in her room. She was hugging her worn out teddy bear which her parents gifted her when she was five years old. Her tears soaked the teddy bear, making it wet. Her eyes were red and swollen from the continuous crying.

She looked at the moon which was shining brightly in the dark clouds. A tear fell from her eyes and it shone in the dark room.

"Why am I being punished moon goddess?" She asked, looking at the moon. Her tears were shining like crystals, the tip of her nose was red and the colour was slowly spreading to her cheeks.

"I can't imagine t-them with someone. I just c-can't." She broke into sobs as she said those painful words. "It's hurting moon goddess, please do something. I can't bear to see them with someone else, p-please." She pleaded in a broken voice which was full of pain.

She wanted to spend her time with her mates, to be in their arms and be close to them. Her wolf was yearning for them but she couldn't do anything. She is helpless.

Sometimes, she wonders if she is so weak and pathetic that her own mates aren't accepting her. She knows it's not in her hand to be weak or strong but she couldn't help but think about it again and again. Would they have accepted her if she was an Alpha's child? Probably yes. After all, they are going to select their mates who are Alpha's daughters.

She felt something soft touching her ankle. She looked to see snow rubbing his head on her leg, looking at her with those small innocent eyes. She picked him and placed him in her lap, caressing his soft fur, she murmured, "What should I do, snow?" She questioned in a helpless voice. "My mates don't want me and are ready to take other girls as their mate. Mates are meant to cherish each other and my mates are not even ready to accept me."

Snow layed down carelessly in her lap and played with his hand, unknown to the pain which she was feeling.

She looked at her parents' picture which was hanging on the wall. "I miss you, I miss you s-so much. Please come back to me dada, please m-mom." She cried.

Her wolf was also sad and hurt. The news that her mates are going to choose others as their mates made her so hurt that she has not been speaking a single word. There was a painful silence which her wolf was carrying. She tried to contact the wolves of her mates but she wasn't able to. It hurted her more. Her mates were distant and cruel with her and it was unbearable for her.

Maybe, they are cursed to spend their life alone, to not have anyone in their life. That's why first her parents were snatched from her and now her mates are not even hers in the first place.

Being an omega is a curse in werewolves and she is realising it in a hard way.
