Julian's POV

I roll up the mansion’s driveway, exhausted from my daily physiotherapy session at the pack hospital, only to find the palace grounds buzzing with energy. High-ranking pack members, socialites, and reporters crowd the poolside, cameras flashing, laughter spilling into the night air—all for Damian’s engagement party.

I have no interest in this charade. So I shift my wheelchair toward the other entrance, determined to avoid the spectacle entirely. But then, a sharp scream cuts through the laughter and the clinking of glasses.

“Help, I can’t swim!”

That's Kira's voice!

My head snaps toward the pool just in time to see a blur of arms flailing in the pool before she vanishes beneath the surface...

The crowd erupts into laughter and chatter like they don't see what is happening.

What the fuck is wrong with these people!?

Rage spikes through my veins as my gaze zeroes in on Katie, standing at the edge with a satisfied smirk tugging at her lips. My gut immediately

Kira's POV. I stare at Julian, my face heating up while my fingers clutch the dry clothes he just handed me. He’s serious? Does he actually expect me to change right here in front of him? My body tenses, and my grip tightens around the fabric. "You can’t be serious." Julian leans back in his wheelchair, arms crossed over his broad chest, with his lips twitching with amusement. "Why not? It’s not like I haven’t seen a woman in underwear before." But I'm not wearing any undies right now because the only good pair I have, I washed last night and it never got dry in the morning, so I'm commando right now.... Heat rushes to my face as I stammer. " I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I'm not like those women!" His laugh is deep, and rich. "Relax, moon goddess. I was just teasing you." He gestures toward a door on the other side of the room. "Bathroom’s over there. You can change in there" I exhale, sagging with relief. "Has anyone told you that you’re insufferable?" He smirks,

Kira’s POV. The stench of wet fur, blood, and rotting food clings to me as I step out of the pack hospital. My arms and hands ache and feel sore from scrubbing cages, and I swear I can still feel the weight of the waste buckets I hauled all day. It's been eight hours of cleaning up after sick and injured wolves, and what do I have to show for it? A ruined uniform and the lingering scent of kennel filth that no amount of scrubbing ever seems to remove. I keep my head down as I walk, hoping and praying I can make it back home without running into anyone. But, of course, the Moon Goddess isn’t that kind to omegas like me. “Look what we have here.” I freeze at the sound of that sickly sweet voice I'd recognize even without looking at them. My stomach twists, and I force myself to keep moving, but it’s too late. They’ve seen me. Lena, Tara, and Cassie, once my highschool classmates, now my daily tormentors step in front of me, blocking my path. Their perfectly styled hair an

Kira’s POV "Why do I even put up with those bullies?" I mutter, my body aching with every step back to the pack. Fresh bruises bloom beneath my torn uniform, refusing to heal immediately because of my omega blood, but I grit my teeth and push forward. The Blissleaf is tucked safely in my pocket. The only reason I endured this miserable night from those mutts. By the time I reach the pack’s main square, the streets are quieter, most pack mates having retired for the night. But I know where they’ll be. They’re always there. Lena, Tara, and Cassie lounge on the stone steps outside the café, laughing over drinks, their polished nails glinting in the moonlight. My stomach churns at the sight of them, but I keep my chin high as I walk up to them. Lena notices me first and smirks. “Well, well. Look who’s still breathing.” I say nothing, just pull the small bundle of Blissleaf from my pocket and toss it onto the table between them. The silver leaves glisten under the streetlights

Kira’s POV The next morning comes too soon and my body still aches in places I didn’t even know could hurt, but I force myself out of bed and go to work as usual. The bruises from last night throb under my worn out uniform as I walk, but I don’t dare complain because who can even hear me out or believe anything I say… The pack hospital looms ahead, its cold white walls offering no comfort. I swipe my badge at the entrance and make my way inside, hoping I’ll be left alone today. But I have no such luck. "Kira Everhart!" I stop, turning as Nurse Yvonne strides toward me. Her usual look of disinterest is replaced with annoyance. "You’re on cleaning duty in the west wing today," she says, shoving a cart toward me. "Do it properly this time." The west wing? My brows furrow. That area is barely used except for private patients whom I refer to as the important ones. Before I can ask why since most of the times, Gammas where responsible for cleaning that area, Yvonne is alrea

Kira’s POV The sun is already setting by the time my shift ends. My body aches from scrubbing floors and handling sick pack mates all day, but at least I’m done. I just want to go home, crawl into bed, and forget this miserable day ever happened. But as usual fate always has other plans. I barely make it a few steps from the hospital when my bullies show up. "Well, well," sneers Cassie, the ringleader. "Look who’s finally off work. Still rolling around in filth, Kira?" Her friends snicker beside her and I clench my fists. "I don't want your trouble today." Lena smirks and dangles my mother's bracelet in front of me. My breath catches and I don't think, I just lunge for it, but she jerks it away, laughing. "Not so fast," she coos. "You still owe us, remember?" "I already did what you asked," I snap. "Now give it back!" Tara clicks her tongue. "Tsk, tsk. You’re not very smart, are you? We never said we’d return it after just one favor." My stomach twists. "What do you want now

Kira's POV. "Are you insane?" I hiss. "Why would you—" Tara shrugs, immediately cutting me off. "To make the Alpha heir fall in love with one of us dummy." Lena grins. "Yes... And since you successfully brought back blissful leaves the other day, we figured you can do it again. So you’ll do it for us, won’t you, Kira?" Successfully? Are they fuckiing kidding me? I almost got killed that night. I glare at them. "I don’t believe you. You’ll never give me back my bracelet." Cassie gasps dramatically. "Kira, I’m offended. You don’t trust us?" "Not even a little," I deadpan. The girls exchange knowing smiles. "Alright," Lena says. "How about this? You bring us a fresh blue rose’s fang, and we swear on the Moon Goddess, we’ll give you back your bracelet. No more tricks." I hesitate because I know it's a trap. But what other choice do I have? Damian's POV. I pace the living room area of the hotel suite I'm staying in, my fingers twitching at my sides. The expensive rug muffles my footsteps, but my frustration burns loud and clear. "Of all the wolves in this damn world," I mutter, voice low and sharp, "the Goddess had to pick her." Mother’s eyes flick up from her glass of wine. She's lounging on the velvet sofa, in her two piece white suit, calm as always. "Her?" she questions because she doesn’t know exactly what I'm talking about. I stop pacing and turn to face her. "Can you believe that the goddess fated me to an omega." The words taste bitter on my tongue. "She is a weak, pitiful excuse of a wolf... I don't want her near me!" Mother hums thoughtfully, swirling her wine. "An omega, you say?" The words alone set my blood on fire. I can't hide my frustration anymore. "That's all you have to say?" I snap. "I won’t accept her," I repeat, my voice tight with anger. Her glass clinks against the table as she sets

Damian's POV. “That’s her,” I say, turning to my mother who is still lounging on the sofa, sipping wine like she doesn’t have a care in the world. But at my words, she sets her glass down and gives me a pointed look. “Let them in,” she says smoothly. Then, through our mind-link, her voice cuts sharper. ‘ Remember, don’t reject her. Think of another way to keep her close to you instead.’ I clench my jaw. I already know exactly what I want to do. Julian gestures to the guard. “Go ahead. Let them in.” The guard nods and steps away. Moments later, the door opens, and my mate walks in looking dirty and disorganized like before. But the world still fades away as the bond tugs at me, pulling me toward her like a moth to a flame. I admit that she is a beautiful petite omega... but all I can see is her weakness in the way she lowers her eyes, and the uncertainty in her steps. I grit my teeth, disgusted with myself for feeling anything toward her. Fate must be playing a sick joke

My mom's bracelet is. gone for ever and Luna Cassandra gets to keep it, all because it bears her family's crest. I clench my fists, swallowing the ache in my throat. It's not fair. But before I can wallow too long, my mind flashes back to Julian's parting words. ‘Come to my room after the engagement party.’ His words replay over and over. My pulse quickens. ‘What if... what if he expects me to thank him with my body for saving me?’ The thought makes my stomach twist because I've heard rumors about men in power and what they demand in return for their favors. No... Julian wouldn’t. He doesn’t seem like the type... does he? ‘He’s a man.’ My wolf’s voice stirs in my head. ‘They all have urges.’ ‘But he can’t even walk,’ I snap back, feeling guilty the moment I think about it. But my wolf isn’t finished. ‘Exactly,’ she says smugly. ‘He can’t do anything to you. So wh

Are you calling your mother a liar?”I want to shout she is not my mother and yes, she is a liar, but I bite my tongue. “I’m saying there's no proof. She’s been here for less than a day. You can’t punish her without evidence.”Alpha Magnus' gaze narrows dangerously. “You forget yourself, boy. I’m the Alpha. My word is law. Or have you grown so bold behind that chair of yours that you think you can challenge me?”I swallow hard, ignoring the jab at my injury. “I respect your authority, Father, but if you punish her without proof, what message does that send to the pack? That accusations alone are enough for a public

Kira's POV. I'm standing exactly where Julian told me to wait for him, with my fingers knotted together so tightly they ache. ‘Kira, I have a bad feeling... something bad is about to happen,’ my wolf warns through our mind link, it causes my heart to pound harder. I swallow and force a breath. ‘Don’t be scared... Julian said he'd help us,’ I remind her, clinging to his promise. But my wolf remains restless, pacing anxiously in the back of my mind. Then suddenly I hear sharp, and heavy footsteps pounding against the floor. I look back just in time to see two royal guards storming toward me with their faces grim as their eyes lock on me like I’m prey. “You,” one of them barks, grabbing my arm in a bruising grip. “W-what’s going on?” My voice wobbles, but I try to sound steady. “What did I do?” “You’re coming with us,” the taller guard growls, tugging me forward. I dig my shoes into the floor, twisting my arm to break free. “Wait! What’s happening?” “You’re going to g

Julian's POV. I roll my wheelchair down the hallway, my mind racing with thoughts I can’t seem to silence. ‘Buddy, why are you getting so invested in this?’ my wolf growls inside me. ‘She's Damian's unclaimed mate — his problem, not yours.’ I exhale through my nose, gripping the wheels tighter…Why am I doing this? Memories stir at the back of my mind, ones I’ve tried to forget for years — but they crash over me like a wave. I remember being eleven years old, standing in the pack’s training yard with Damian and a few of his older friends. My arms were scraped from our sparring match, and my chest heaved from exhaustion. “Come on, Julian,” Damian taunted, circling me like a vulture. “You’re supposed to be the Alpha’s heir, right?” His grin stretched too wide and I should’ve seen what was coming next. He lunged at me with his friends, sweeping my legs out from under me. I hit the dirt hard, and air rushes out from my lungs. “You’re so pathetic,” Damian sneered, towering o

kira's POV I could tell Alpha Magnus the truth, but Damian’s lies have already sunk in too deep. No one would believe me now. ‘What about running away?’ my wolf suggests but we both know that it would only get us so far without any money before the bond would pull us back or worse, someone catches me before I reached the border. I stare at the door, still faintly vibrating from how hard he slammed it. Fine, I think bitterly. If Damian won’t reject me... I’ll make him want to. I storm out of the room, my breath shaky and uneven as my heart pounds in my chest, a painful rhythm that matches the chaos in my head... Damian’s twisted plan keeps replaying over and over — he’s going to marry Katie and still keep me chained to him like some forgotten possession. Lost in my thoughts, I don’t notice someone stepping into my path until I crash right into them. “Watch where you’re going, you filthy mutt,” a cold voice hisses. I look up and my stomach twists out of fear that im

Kira's POV Damian’s grip is like iron as he drags me down the dimly lit corridor. My arm aches, but I refuse to complain — I won’t give him the satisfaction after the announcement he made. The soles of my worn-out flats scuff against the carpet, the thin material barely cushioning my steps while my heart hammers in my chest, not out of fear... but boiling, blistering anger. He shoves open a door that reveal a beautiful well decorated small sitting room and yanks me inside…The door slams behind us, and the sharp click of the lock makes my stomach tighten. “Let go of me!” I snap, wrenching my arm free. I stumble back, breathing hard. “What is your problem?” Damian’s cold blue eyes narrow. “ I want to assure you that I’m not going rejecting you,” he says flatly and for a second, I’m sure I misheard him. "What?" “I’m not going rejecting you,” he repeats, like I should be grateful. His tone is casual — smug, even — like he's offering me a gift. I let out a bitter laugh. “Y

Julian's POV. "And why did she run out like that?" Father’s voice rumbles through the dining room with his brows knitted in confusion as we all watch Kira run out of the room after Damian's surprise announcement. I glance at Damian, already bracing for his usual slick answer which he doesn’t disappoint. "Probably overwhelmed," Damian says with a casual shrug, his voice far too smooth. "From the praise of the soup she cooked us." What a liar, I'm disgusted to be related to him by blood and this is all thanks to his mother who only taught him to lie and that status is everything and that anyone lower than him is beneath him and can be treated however he wanted. I scoff under my breath, loud enough for them to hear. Father’s sharp gaze swings toward me. "Did your brother say something funny, Julian?" I meet his eyes, feeling that old familiar tension tightening my chest. "Yeah he did… Ask him if Katie is really his mate." Father shoots his a questioning look and Damian’s
