Chapter 5: Where are you taking me?

Selene woke up to the sound of the bell that went around the palace wall. She yawned softly and wondered how she managed to sleep after crying so much last night.

The room was still neatly arranged, with some of the candles already burned out. Selene sits upright on the bed and wonders what kind of state her mother will be in. She knew no one cared about her, but her mother was different.

She rose from the bed and attempted to at least attempt to make her first escape in the palace to know how far he could go when the door suddenly opened. The devil comes in and closes the door behind him.

“You are awake. How was your night?" Rayne asked as he leisurely walked around the room as if he owned it, but still, he owned everything.

“I came to your room last night, but you were sleeping soundly when I came in. It's hard to believe that a weak human like you could snore loud," Rayne explained further after receiving no reply to the first question he asked.

Selene didn't want to think about what would happen after she left his room last night, but why would he come to her room when she was asleep?

“I want to go home," she said, stubbornly facing him. She can't even feel a bond between them, so why should she care about who he spends the night with?

“I thought you were enjoying your stay here," Rayne replied before sitting on the bed in the room.

“My king, all I want right now is to leave here. My mother will be worried sick at home." Selene pleaded.

“I will let you see your mother, but you can't leave this palace, Selene. This is home, and I will make sure to refine you into a strong she-wolf."

“I never want that. You already have a Luna by your side. Lady Isabella is the strongest she-wolf in the Eldoria Kingdom. You might be wrong. I'm not your fated mate." Selene interjected as she gently rubbed her palms together.

Rayne chuckled softly at the woman's words, and this sounded like music to Selene's ears. The devil was undeniably handsome but cruel in her eyes.

“The maids will attend to you. Make yourself comfortable. I will be coming to you tomorrow to officially welcome you as my breeder." He said, rising from the bed, as he watched her shake her head in denial.

“I don't want to live here. I don't want to be your breeder.."

“You are tied to me, Selene. To me and no one else," Rayne declared.

”Unless you want the pack members to be the sleeping with you, " he added. as he walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him.

Rayne got married to Isabella that night, and the two lovers enjoyed themselves to the fullest in the quiet room.

Selene’s mother, went around the village, asking the people if they had seen Selene. They all affirm that they have not seen her, and she wonders if her daughter decided to escape the village because of the bullying.

Selene's mother wondered if that could be so, but she knew Selene would never do anything behind her back.

She didn't stop looking for Selene as her heart ached for her youngest daughter.

Selene stayed in the room all day, but she remembered that today was their wedding celebration. She imagines the two making love right on the bed while she remains in the room.

“Moon goddess, help me, please. I'm stuck and still can't sense my wolf. Help me," she prayed.

She ate the food the maid brought in for her late at night. Selene eats it with the determination to leave the palace walls sooner. She didn't want to be labeled a whore if the king later got tired of her and sent her out of the palace.

The maids attend to Selene just like every other day. Her hair was combed back and then styled up with some pins, while some strands of her hair were left at the front. The maid dressed her up in a beautiful green dress with delicate gemstones embroidered at the front. The dress exposes some of her cleavage.

She tried to adjust the dress, as she doesn't want any part of her body to be exposed to the devil king.

“Can I at least get a dress that won't show off my neck?" Selene asked the maid who was tending to her.

“I'm sorry, milady. The King chose this dress for you." Selene's hand fists into a ball as she grits her teeth.

“What game is he trying to play?" Selene asked herself in silence.

“Okay," she replied. The maids brought out floral leather shoes for her after she wore the stockings.

The maids wore the shoes on her feet, and they gently bowed before leaving the room. Alone in the room, Selene could see the beauty of the room clearly during the day with her thoughts sorted out.

The bed was placed in one corner of the room, while the walls were painted a mixture of gray and white. The pieces of furniture were neatly arranged with the long mirror in front of the dressing table.

Selene stood up from the chair and twirled around the dress. She misses the world outside the palace, as the palace seems boring to her, and she misses her mother a lot.

The door opened, and Rayne came into the room. Selene locked eyes with him as he walked inside the room. His full pink lips parted slowly as he drank at her appearance.

His hands itched as her sweet scent assaulted his senses. She looks like a goddess in that green dress, yet she is innocent as she stares at him with anger.

Rayne smiled as he gently took one of her hands and raised it towards his lips, kissing them.

“Follow me," he said as he turned, waiting for her to follow him out of the room. A jolt of electricity went down Selene's spine, as the hand he kissed was still cold.

‘No greetings,' she thought. She rubbed her two hands together as she carefully followed him out of the room.

She wants to talk, but right now, she only wants to save her energy and run for her life later.

“Where are you taking me?" Selene asked as they began to walk down the corridor.

“To have breakfast," he replied curtly, and he took another turn.
