Everything felt like it was spiraling out of control, and I couldn’t take it anymore. I turned, ready to flee the suffocating space of the bathroom, but his hand shot out and grabbed me. A sharp wave of disgust rippled through me, his touch making my skin crawl. My fists clenched at my sides, breaking his bones didn’t seem like such a bad idea right now.

“Get your hands off me!” I snapped, twisting in his grip, but his arm wrapped tighter around my waist, pinning me in place. I struggled, yanking at his hand, but he wouldn’t let go.

His breath brushed against my ear, sending an unwelcome shiver down my spine. “Do you know how much it healed me to know you recognized my perfume scent?” he murmured, his voice low and honeyed, almost seductive. But I stood my ground to to fall for it even though the alcohol was betraying me.
