DIANE

Aria and I entered quickly into the car, my hands gripping the steering wheel as the engine roared to life. Without wasting a second, I slammed on the gas, the tires squealing as we sped off down the street.

My heart pounded in sync with the hum of the engine, I couldn’t afford to lose time. It was their closing hour, and I knew that woman, that conniving witch, might already be there to take her kids out of the school.

"Diane, slow down!" Aria's voice laced with worry s I rolled my eyes. "For goddess' sake, what if you get us into trouble?"

"Not now, Aria," I muttered through clenched teeth, my eyes darting between the road ahead and the rearview mirror. The cars in front of me seemed to drive into my path, as I swerved sharply to dodge one, then another.

Finally, the highway stretched behind us, and I ran onto a less crowded street. The rush of cars eased, and the road opened up like a breath of relief.

She wouldn’t get it, what I’m feeling right now. The fact that she’d been

EVELYN POVI stepped into the office, lowering my phone from my ear after realizing Simone wasn’t answering. The staff glanced up, bowing their heads in respect as I passed by, and I returned their gestures with a warm smile.“This way, Ms.,” Simone's assistant said, extending his arm toward Simone's office before bowing slightly.Nacro Fashions Jewelry was officially investing in the project. This was a huge deal—partnering with a major player in the fashion industry!I opened the door to the office and found Simone lounging on the couch, a coffee cup cradled in his hands. He took a slow sip before placing the cup on the table that sat between the two couches."Sorry for being late. My apologies," I said, my eyes darting around the room. Then I spotted him—a frail old man seated across from Simone, with a young woman beside him."It's fine," the old man replied, his voice calm and steady. "Your presence here already means a lot."I nodded with a small smile, but my attention shifted

EVELYN"How dare you make those weak threats?" I snapped, "We all know it’s just talk, nothing but a lot of noise from that big mouth of hers!"I yanked off my earrings and carefully placed them in the jewelry box. My hands trembled slightly, not from fear, but from the weight of everything swirling in my head. As I stood there, my thoughts drifted to earlier today, picking Harriet up from school. She’d been quiet, her looking moody and refusing to talk to me, but I hadn’t found the time to ask what was wrong. I turned on my heel and made my way towards her room. The door creaked softly as I pushed it open. My breath hitched at the sight before me. Giovanni sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers brushing gently over Harriet’s tear-streaked face. Harriet’s eyes were red, swollen with the remnants of tears, and her fragile state hit me like a punch to the chest. My heart sank. Without a word, I crossed the room to her side."Hey," I said softly, crouching down beside her. "What’s going

Call me when you get there my love, I can't wait to see your beautiful face" I cringed at his last words with my eyes closed. Before I could even respond, the line went dead. I stared at the phone in disbelief, my grip tightening around the phone. "How dare he hang up on me?" I muttered under my breath, A soft scoff came from beside me, pulling my attention. "Was that John?" He asked, raising an eyebrow knowingly. I turned to him, frowning. "How do you know?" He smirked, "The look on your face says it all. So, what did he want?" I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms tightly. "He told me to meet him at the construction site tomorrow. That dickhead! He won't stop bothering me with these calls." I sighed heavily, running my hands over my arms in a vain effort to shake him from my thoughts. But his words lin

He scoffed,"That's why I want you Ms. Evelyn Matthew but it seems you are making things difficult" There was a silent between us as we made our way towards the last house of the owners of the farmland that had been ravaged by the rogues. The residents froze, their eyes going wide with surprise."Our great Alpha and the Pack Advisor are here!" a middle-aged woman exclaimed softly, as we sensed a relief in her voice. She quickly bowed her head, before gesturing toward the worn couch in the center of the room. "Please, sit down. You so beautiful in person Ms. Evelyn"She complemented as I smiled at her and then my eyes began scanning the house. The house was a modest duplex, one of many homes gifted to the members of the Pack. EVELYN POV"Hey! Speak to me with some respect, or I swear, you'll lose your damn job!" I snapped, my voice sharp and trembling with anger. My chest tightened as my heart pounded like a drum. My vision narrowed, locking onto her. How could she even suggest something like that? My kids? my kids would never do such a thing."Now," I demanded, my tone low but boiling, "explain to me, clearly, like a decent human being, what the hell is going on here. Because from what I’ve been told, my kids were harassed nearly assaulted by one of the students."She froze, blinking at me, her lips parting slightly as if she wanted to say something. But she didn’t. Her gaze lingered on me. I could tell she was just as furious, but right now, I didn’t care. I hadn’t come here expecting this. Not this kind of outrageous, gut-wrenching news.We stepped into her office, where the woman stood with her arms crossed over her chest. I glanced at her, then at the girl wiping tears from her eyes. EVELYN POV I couldn't understand why this was happening, why she was accusing my daughter without any real evidence. The only thing she pointed to was the mark on the middle of her head.“Mummy, please... I really love this school. I don’t want to leave,” my daughter whispered loudly as she rested her head on my shoulder. Her words hit me hard. It was the only thing keeping me from pulling them out of that awful school. How could anyone love a place like this? But I couldn’t bear to see my child upset. I was the kind of mother who would do anything to make my kids happy, whatever it took. And let me tell you, my dearest child won’t be the one facing the Anti-Bullying Committee. Oh no. I’ll make sure her child does instead. That evening, I found myself at Mr. Simone’s exclusive bar, the kind of place reserved for only the most select guests. The dim lighting cast a warm glow over the polished mahogany counters, and the low soft music filled the room. I had dragged Winnie, my ever-lo

EVELYN POV I stood outside her window, the cold night air brushing against my skin. My eyes softened as I watched her, curled up and fast asleep, like a porcelain doll. The moonlight danced across her peaceful face, and for a moment, I forgot to breathe. She was perfect, my future Luna. How I wished I could step inside, just to be closer. But I couldn’t. The door was locked, and Bea, the one person I trusted to help me, was nowhere to be found. Even she was asleep. I clenched my fists. "How could she ignore my calls?" I muttered under my breath, after everything I paid her to handle this, she knows I’d show up tonight. She knows how important this is to me.My gaze flickered back to her, guilt creeping into my chest. She looked so fragile, so innocent, and yet here I was, standing outside like a thief in the shadows. I let out a shaky breath. Of course, she’s tired, I whispered to myself, the words heavy with regret. After what I did at the bar…I ran a hand through my hair, the mem

EVELYNI slapped my hands over my mouth, breathing quickly and shallowly. My chest tightened as disbelief took over. I gripped the edge of the table, trying to stay still as my legs wobbled beneath me. A bitter scoff escaped my lips."So... So that means he deceived me?" I whispered, my voice shaking."He just wanted the information, Evelyn," he muttered. "And now he has it. I’m honestly shocked. No wonder, whenever I asked about the father of your kids, you always said he was dead. Why didn’t you tell me? Didn’t you trust me?"He crossed his arms tightly over his chest, staring at me with disappointment. I shook my head, unable to meet his eyes."It’s not like that, Reuben," I said quickly. It’s obvious she doesn’t want you here,” Reuben bellowed looking at him like he wants to throw a fist at his face. “I’m waiting for my answer, Evelyn,” John interrupted with a firm voice. His eyes never left me.“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. My throat tightened as tears threatened to spill, but I swallowed hard, determined not to break down in front of him. “Wait.” Reuben tilted his head, his voice dripping with disbelief as he turned to John. “Are you trying to say that Harry and Harriet are your kids?” John let out a heavy sigh. “This,” he said, raising the paper in his hand. "is the evidence to prove they are my biological children. Evelyn

EVELYNI scoffed. If it wasn’t Giovanni, then… who? I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the red skirt and suit I had put on. The sharp lines of the outfit hugged me perfectly, making me look confident. I pulled my hair back into a neat ponytail, with the strands falling neatly into place, and finished with a bold layer of red lipstick. My jewelry—earrings, bracelets, and a necklace shone softly under the light. Polished. Composed. Exactly how I needed to look."Have you forgotten that you were injured last night? You must’ve gotten the scents mixed up," I said to Vivi as I grabbed my black bag from the table."I guess so," she murmured in my mind.I brushing off the nagging thought as I stepped out of my room. Her words sent a chill through me, but I kept my face neutral, not wanting to worry her more. Inside, though, my heart was racing. But I can't help but wonder, why didn’t Bea say anything to me? Was she planning to tell me later, or... did she not notice it because she was shifting then? My chest tightens as I wrestle with these thoughts. Gosh, this is driving me crazy. My eyes flick over to John, who’s sitting across from me. I notice him tilting his head slightly, his brow furrowed in that way he does when he’s deep in thought. It’s like I can almost see the gears turning in his mind, each click making me more anxious. He breaks the silence with a calm voice "That’s called imbalance shifting." I blink, trying to process his words, but before I can respond, Harriet adds, "Mummy said the same thing. She also said he’s a special wolf." I notice John's eyes widen. My own hand trembles slightly as I reach for the spoon, bringing it up to my mouth. But as I lift it, I realize i

His jaw was tight, his eyes reddened, like someone had stopped him from coming inside."Evelyn," Gio said with a calm voice as his eyes darted towards me coming outside.John turned at the sound, giving me a smug smile that made my blood boil."Get out of my house," I snapped, my voice sharp. "If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the guards to throw you out. You have no right to be here. How dare you think of stepping foot into his house?"John didn’t move, though his smile faded a bit. I barely looked at him before turning to Gio. My voice softened just a little. "Let’s go inside," I said, turning my back towards the door."It's okay," Gio said softly, his voice gentle as he stepped back. "I just wanted to check if you and the kids are doing fi

A cold, sharp ache pierced my chest, leaving me breathless. The phone slipped from my hand, tumbling toward the floor. Before it hit the ground, Aria snatched it up."They're his biological kids!" I blurted as I scoffed in disbelief.I froze, my eyes fixed on the DNA report spread out on the table. My stomach twisted in knots, and tears burned at the edges of my eyes. The lines of text blurred, but I couldn’t look away. My hands shook as I fumbled to call the doctor who had performed the test. I needed to hear it from him. I needed to know if what I was seeing was real. "Jeez, Diane, I told you these are legit! But no, you'd rather call the doctor to confirm," Aria voiced as she stepped closer and reached out to me, trying to grab my hand. "Look, let's just leave the hospital.
