In the end, Daniel finally let go of her arm. "Come to my house for dinner tonight. You like meatloaf, right? Let my mom make that for you."

"No thanks, I have something to do tonight."

"Are you still going to find them?"

Clear and cold, Sophia glared at him. "It’s something else."

Daniel awkwardly said, "Alright, if you need any help, you know where to find me."

Sophia just nodded, and at that moment, the elevator arrived. She entered, leaning lazily against the elevator wall, as if suddenly very tired and drained of energy.

She knew she had just let her anger get the best of her.

All those words of affection, all the scheming and plotting, were just for her.

The sweet words now seemed so ironic when recalled.

She was suddenly overwhelmed by a surge of bitterness after returning to Dorothy's room.

Her grandmother kept saying how good and caring he was.

Dorothy looked at Sophia. "What's wrong?"

Sophia forced a smile. "Grandma, nothing's wrong."
