The Three-Branched Roads

I was halfway from where I had left the bandits when all of a sudden, I spotted someone riding his horse in my direction. As if that was not enough, he began shouting my name.

"Louis! Louis, stop!" The individual raised one of his hands as if he was trying to use that to notify me to stop. As expected, I stopped and waited for him to come close. I was not scared of the approaching individual. My reason was a simple one since the individual could call me by my name which means, he was well acquainted with me. Therefore, I believed he was not gonna put me in any harm's way.

The closer he came, the more my suspicion grew. I had someone who I suspected him to be. That individual was among those whom I left not long ago. He came to a point where I was able to distinguish him completely from anyone who I previously had in my mind. He was no other person but Dan. Yes, Dan!
