We arrived at my host's house a few moments later. I was shown much love by the members of her household. The love which her household had shown me, made me feel relaxed and easy with everyone. It was later on, that I learnt the names of the members of her household. Her name was not left out among those whom I have learnt. Her name was Celine. Her husband in particular was a Jovial type and did not hesitate to ask me questions that were rather ridiculous when we were having dinner earlier that night. The name of her husband was Julius and the questions he asked were such that made me believe that he thought I was joking. Of course, I did not hide anything from the family because of the love they all, had shown me. Mr Julius asked about the caravan I was travelling with to Dotham. His question was rather amusing everyone responded to him in the way he was expecting it. We all burst into laughter. I was not exempted from the laughing party.later that night, I was shown a room where
The next day, I set out for Dotham. Just like my hosts had suggested, I travelled with their friends who were merchants. They were about five men in number. With them were large quantities of goods to be sold once they arrived at Dotham. I cared less to check out the goods they were going to sell at Dotham. All I cared for was the success of my mission and their protection which Celine and her husband had assured me I will get a hundred per cent from them. So far so good! The men were kind to me. There were in their mid-fifties. Their long bears, sometimes, grey were proof that the men were advanced in age and not kids. We stopped many times on our way to Dotham. We had to pass through several towns on our journey. As for how many nights we spent now, they were about five nights. On the sixth night, I was informed that it won't cost us any other day. I was sceptical about that because, that was what I was told on the third night but, we ended up spending extra two nights and still y
Upon seeing the small bag containing 20 coins of silver which Simeon brought out, the men began smiling. "Hey, man! We are sorry for our rude behaviour. We had no idea that you were such a good fellow. You are free to proceed with your Journey!" The leader of the guards walked closer to Simeon and stretched out his hands to collect the bag of silver. He never stopped smiling as Simeon let go of the small bag of coins. As soon as it entered his palms, he smiled even harder and tried to move back but, one of his men intervened."Master, aren't we going to count the money to find out if he has cheated on us?" Asked one of the guards. However, their master was not ready to waste his time counting the silver coins in the bag."We don't have time to do that and this man over there doesn't look like an individual who would cheat on us. Isn't that right, man?" Asked their leader."Yes, of course! Why will I do that? Why will I cheat on you? It's so unbelievable to hear that!" Said Simeon.T
"Come on inside?" That was what we heard from Mrs Taylor. "Here may not be such a good place for this discussion."We obeyed her voice and went into the inner room of her store. There, we sat on a sofa big enough to contain the three of us. I sat at the end by the left, whereas Mrs Taylor and Mr Simeon sat at the extreme by the right and the centre, respectively. "You are welcome to my humble abode, I guess you guys need some wine after such a long journey?""How can I say no? Or are you expecting me to reject some wine from you? You know that can never happen, Mr Taylor!" He told her and again, the two of them began laughing as usual.Mrs Taylor stood to her feet and then went to a corner. It was not too bright in there therefore, I couldn't see what she seek to bring out. However, there was a strong indication that he was looking for some wines, given the fact that Mr Simeon already requested some. As expected, she returned with three wine cups and a leather bag of wine as well. A
"It's a book!" I looked confused as I tried to downplay the importance of the book I was holding in my hand. "It's just a book of mine that I like keeping close to me all the time. I forget to get it while I was coming in here. Now, I have gotten it, I think we can start from where we stopped initially.""Hmmm!" She stared at me with a more suspicious facial expression on her. Perhaps, she thought I was not telling her the truth. "Are you sure about what you just told me? Are you hiding anything from me?" She asked while stepping forward. Next, she opened her hands toward me. "May I see?""Sure!" I said. There was no need to hide the book away from her. Sooner or later she is gonna find out, even though I deny her access to the magic book. I was doing all I could to facilitate my meeting with Deborah, the sorcerer. The only person who could take me to her was Mrs Taylor. Without wasting my time, I handed the Magic book to her, as she stretched out her hands in anticipation to receive
"Deborah!" Shouted Mrs Taylor. "I'm the one! We have come to seek your sacred knowledge to be able to overcome our problem," Mrs Taylor bowed her head below after explaining herself. For the first time since we stood still, the dark figure started talking. "I know who you are Mrs Taylor but, I don't know why you would bring that lady standing beside you over here." The figure pointed at me as she spoke. Her voice was unforgiven. She sounded mean."She is just a poor girl who seeks your help and your guidance. She is harmless just like me. Please, grant us our request by allowing us to proceed to your Oracle," explained Mrs Taylor."Wait a minute!" Deborah shouted. "She didn't tell you who she was?" The sorcerer was still pointing one of her fingers towards me as she spoke. "She didn't tell you, Mrs Taylor, that she is a Witch?" At once, Mrs Taylor turned to look at me. Perhaps, she was in doubt about what Deborah has said but, can Deborah lie? The look of disbelief on her face as sh
Deborah began walking out of my presence. She seemed to be walking further into the cave. She walked about out five meters before pausing to look at me one more time. "It seems like you didn't get my instructions, Louis. Follow me! Don't leave any of your belongings here, bring them with you." I had no big properties on me at the moment except, the food provisions as well as the Magic book in my right hand. I have never let go of it. I picked it up and began walking behind her. The path on which we were walking, was never dark. Several candles were hanging on the walls. We walked until we were out of the cave in a surprising move. I wondered what in the hell was going on. I didn't hide the expression on my face. I let her see it. "I know you might be wondering what the hell has happened, am I right, Louis?" She asked. "Well, let me tell you something, this cage is limited and not as deep as you might have thought. It is only a cave that leads to my abode. I know you will be more th
Deborah began speaking with a low voice. It was obvious from the way she was speaking at the moment that something was going on with him. Perhaps, she has some secrets from the distant past to share with me. "Your mother was my very good friend back in those days. She helped me a lot but unfortunately, she was killed by Magaritha. Your mother's sister, Magaritha was selfish. She wanted all for herself and that was why she killed your mother even though she knew that your mother meant well to her," said Deborah."Yes, Lady Gia also told me the same thing. I'm intrigued to know how you learnt all of this!" I replied. She glanced at me in utter surprise as if I had offended her. But, I was sure that I have not said anything bad against him. "It seems to me that you are not listening carefully to all I have been telling you?""Why not, mam! Of course, I'm listening to you carefully, not even a single word escaped from me," I tried to make her understand that I was with her."Back then, y
