I stand under the hot spray of the shower, letting the water wash away the tension that had settled in my shoulders. Closing my eyes, I hoped the steam could clear my mind as well. Kane's words echo in my head, mingling with the sound of the water splashing against the tiles. "I know it's going to take time and effort for me to gain your trust again."
