Wendy's POV

My laugh bounced off the walls, sounding mean and teasing. “Really, George? You'd actually show me off to the Council for this?” I pointed to the plain room, the simple bed, and the one locked door.

“Anybody can see I've been set up! Did you really think this silly show was my own doing?” I crossed my arms, staring at him without looking away. He looked hurt, with anger building up in his usually calm eyes, but I wouldn't back down. Not now. Not ever again.

He ran his fingers through his hair, a move I knew very well. “Whitney.” he started, his voice heavy with a need for understanding, “I can’t just let you go. You know I can’t. The Council is already pressuring me to find a mate or step down. If I release you, they’ll call me a weak Alpha, one who lets feelings mess up his decisions.”

His words hurt, each one a painful reminder of my past. I had been the reason he was called a weak Alpha. I had been the reason he was seen as too emotional. “You need to understand, this i

George's POVI stepped back from the door, Whitney's words ringing in my mind. 'No, I don't trust you.' Her bluntness hurt more than any hit. I had to prove myself to her, had to show her I wasn't the naive person she used to know.My boots echoed on the stone floor as I walked back to my room, the palace halls seeming wide and empty. I got to my door, my hand on the latch, and then… everything went black. The lights went out suddenly, throwing everything into a scary darkness. My heart raced. Power cuts never happened here, especially in the Royal Wing. I started to think fast. Someone was up to something. Someone wanted to take Whitney away! Anger flooded through me, strong and instant. They wouldn’t take her, not while I was here.“Guards! I need two guards right now!” I shouted, my voice loud and clear in the sudden silence. Two soldiers rushed over quickly. “Go to the holding room, now!” I ordered, “Make sure she is safe.”“Yes, Alpha King.” they said together, and they disappear

Wendy's POVThe door creaked open with its hinges crinkling as it was being disturbed. Bright sunlight flooded in on the floor. I was already awake with the blanket I had been given tossed aside on the small bed. Sleep felt far away last night with my mind filled with restless memories and plans.Beta Edward stood in the doorway with his face blank with two guards beside him who looked just as unfazed. He looked perfect as usual in his sharp uniform. There was no sign of the man who had come to see me in the dark last night the one who had given me a chance to escape.“Good morning Whitney.” he said with his voice calm and polite.“Good morning Beta Edward.” I said while keeping my voice neutral. I didn’t show that I knew about his late-night visit just as he didn’t show what he had done. It was important to keep up the act to reveal nothing.“The Alpha King has allowed you to wash up and get ready before meeting the Council.” Edward's eyes shifted slightly as he spoke “He wants you t

Wendy's POVThe whispers in the throne room quieted as George's words filled the space. Everyone's gaze seemed fixed on Gerald, who looked confused. It was a clever act, I’ll admit, but I was paying close attention. I leaned back in my chair, appearing relaxed, but my mind was busy. Gerald’s quick change in mood, from upset to surprised, caught my interest.George, speaking in a deep voice, asked again, “Gerald, why was your dagger at the Dawn Valley massacre? Tell me!” He looked hard at his brother with a type of anger I hadn’t seen before, and I felt like I was part of the reason for it. A muscle twitched in his jaw. I stayed relaxed, trying to appear calm.Gerald's eyes grew wide as he quickly looked around the room and then focused on his mother. Queen Rosina, sitting proudly on her throne, gave a slight shake of her head, a quiet sign of refusal. I caught it, naturally, the almost hidden message. It was so fast that many wouldn't have seen it, but I had learned to spot the little

Wendy's POVDaven opened the car door with a friendly smile. “After you Ms.”I got into the passenger seat. “Thanks, Daven.” I said, buckling my seatbelt. He softly shut the door and got into the driver's seat. We drove away from the palace. “So.” I said, looking at Daven. “You knew, right? About the message that came in, the one that cleared my name.”Daven looked at me, his eyes shining with a bit of playfulness. “Maybe.” he said, still watching the road.“You sly wolf“ I chuckled, shaking my head. “You always have to stay ahead, right?”He laughed softly. “Someone has to be.” he said, his smile turning serious. “Listen, Ms Wendy, I knew right away that it wasn't you. Queen Rosina, her tricks are always so obvious. I switched to investigation mode the second they pulled you out. I began searching for proof of her role in the Dawn Valley massacre.”My eyebrows raised in surprise. “You were looking for proof of her involvement?”He nodded, his jaw set tight. “I thought she was behind

Rosina's POVI walked across the soft carpet of my room, the fancy patterns fading with each quick step. I paced back and forth, like a trapped animal, the soft wool doing nothing to ease my anger. My grip tightened on the phone I held, the screen showing my worried face, the lines around my eyes more noticeable. The message, that nasty, bold threat, still stared at me from the screen“Leave Whitney alone, or face the results.”The words felt like a snake wrapped around my heart, ready to bite. They came just after that awful email, the one with the…proof. Proof of my carefully crafted plans, my detailed strategies, all now exposed and weak. And this…this obvious threat. How could they?I turned around, my anger boiling over. This wasn't how things were meant to be. Wendy Ashton, or Whitney Decodes, or whatever name she used now, was supposed to be buried under a pile of accusations, her life ruined, her future gone. Yet here she was, not just free but daring to threaten me!The door

Rosina’s P.O.VI put the hood of my black cloak over my head. It was midnight again, and tonight required caution. I couldn’t make another mistake like last time. George’s doubts were already too close for comfort, and I wouldn’t let his curiosity ruin everything I had built. The stone walls closed in on me as I walked down the secret hallway behind the curtain in my room. I moved quietly, carefully. This path wasn’t used much and was known only to a few people, and that was my only comfort.“They won't come after me.” I whispered to myself, but it didn't feel true. Last time, I hadn't been careful, and George—almost found out about my nighttime activities. If Logan hadn't acted fast with that wolvesbane bomb... But I didn’t want to think about that. This time, I would be flawless. Invisible. Silent.I got to the end of the hallway and pressed my hand on the rough stone where the secret mechanism was. I heard a soft noise as the hidden door opened, showing the dark forest beyond the p

George's P.O.VI shut the door hard behind me, breathing heavily in frustration as I walked to my desk. I sat down in the chair, rested my elbows on the desk, and covered my face with my hands. My mind was going back to just one name, one face—Whitney Decodes.Or was it Wendy? Could it really be her? A sharp pain hit my chest at the thought. Even with her coldness and sharp looks, there was something in her eyes when she glanced at me—yes, that same fire—that made me think of her. Was I just imagining it? Was I wishing for something because I was desperate, or was this real?“Damn it.” I whispered to myself, pulling my hair with both hands. Her rejection hit my pride hard. No woman had ever resisted me this much, much less brushed me off like that. But if this Whitney was really Wendy, her cold attitude explained a lot. Why else would she be so far away?I was suddenly overwhelmed by memories of what we went through—what I put her through in the past. I remembered how she looked at me

Brittany's POVI sat in a quiet cafe by the market. My fingers tapped the side of my untouched coffee cup. Where was he? Every second made my patience wear thin. I moved around the chair sliding a little on the uneven stones beneath me. It wasn’t like Elder Lucius to be late, especially after all the money I had put into this crazy plan.A shadow passed over the table, and I looked up quickly. There he was, Elder Lucius sitting down across from me. He didn’t seem rushed, and he didn’t have the sense of urgency I really needed from him. Instead, he smiled and nodded at me like we were old friends sharing tea.“Ah, Brittany, it’s always nice to see you.” Lucius said easily. His relaxed tone sparked anger in me.“Pleasure?” I said sharply while leaning closer to him. “That's not the word I’d pick, Lucius. Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting here?”“Oh, come on.” he said while waving his hand like he was shooing away a bothersome fly. “I had other things to deal with.”“Yes, l

I had just gotten back to the pack house and was trying to catch my breath when I got a message. There was a loud knock at my door, and before I could say anything, a guard stuck his head in.“Your Highness, Alpha Sirius and his group have just arrived at the gates.” the guard told me with a low bow. His voice was calm, but there was a hidden urgency in the way he spoke.I pushed back my chair, the leather creaking under me. For years, I'd kept a calm face as the Alpha King, but something about Sirius' visit made me feel excited and nervous inside. I grabbed my jacket from the back of my chair and walked towards the door.As I walked up the big steps of the pack house, I heard the loud engines of Sirius' cars. Black SUVs, a typical choice for a visiting leader, stopped on the driveway in front of the house. The dark windows sparkled in the late afternoon sun, and after a moment, the doors opened at the same time. Men in suits got out - Sirius' second-in-command, some bodyguards, and f

Wendy’s POVWhen George angrily left the restaurant, his boots making a loud noise on the ground, I didn’t go after him. I stayed in my seat, holding my wine glass tightly. The anger he felt was still in the air, but I didn’t let it affect me. His angry words kept playing in my mind, hurting me with each one.I shook my head to clear it and took a slow drink. George was acting like a kid - reckless and silly. Didn't he get how bad Queen Rosina and her son Gerald were? Did he think this was just about a small feud or a chance to become popular?“No, George.” I said quietly, putting the glass down. “This isn't about you or your pride. It's about staying safe. About what's fair.”The thought of tonight's dinner made me nervous. I had to be there. It wasn't just a rule to have a big meal for a visiting leader it was a chance to get information, to get closer to Leader Sirius, to find out where Rosina and Gerald were hiding. But George made it clear - I wasn't invited to dinner tonight. No

Wendy's POVAs soon as George answered my call, I could tell something was wrong on the other end. He was breathing slowly, carefully - not calm, but like he was about to blow up. I tried to sound cheerful and friendly, acting like I didn't notice how angry he was and how hard he was trying not to lose his temper.“Hello.” I said to him, trying to sound friendly even though he couldn't see me. “I was hoping to run into you.”His response was brief, almost rude. “Wendy.”No introductions. No small talk. Him using my first name said a lot - it was friendly and mean at the same time, showing how upset he was. I ignored the awkward feeling in the air and kept going.“I'm glad you picked up.” I said, acting like I didn't hear how strained his voice sounded. “I - I wanted to talk to you.”He laughed quietly on the other end, and though it was soft, the mocking in it was clear. “Talk?” he said again, his voice firm. “Isn't that what we're doing now?”I bit back my retort, suppressing the spa

Wendy's POVI came out of the restaurant, my heart racing, my teeth gritted so hard they might break. The sight of Wendy kissing Derek, kept playing in my head over and over. I was furious. I wasn't thinking straight - and I didn't care right then.“Your Highness, the car is ready.” my driver said, standing next to the shiny black car.I waved him away quickly without looking. “Leave it.” I said loudly. My voice sounded harsh, almost like a growl. I couldn't sit in the car, it felt too small. I needed to get out. I needed room. I needed air. Anything but this angry feeling that was getting worse inside me.My feet took me to the edge of the forest without me thinking much. I started unbuttoning my shirt as I walked deeper into the woods. By the time I was surrounded by trees, I was running and taking off my clothes. The change happened easily - almost too easily, like my wolf inside me was waiting for this moment to take over. My bones changed shape, my body transformed. Fur grew on m

Wendy's POVI still had the crumpled napkin in my hand when I felt bad about acting on instinct. My heart beat fast as Derek sat across from me, his blue eyes wide with confusion and, I think, curiosity. He hadn't stopped looking at me since I kissed him - a kiss that I knew was a big mistake and would cause trouble.Derek said, “Wendy...” His deep voice cut through my jumbled thoughts. He leaned forward, his eyebrows scrunched up in a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. “What... what does that kiss mean?”I sighed and tossed the napkin on the table, rubbing my head. I was so tired of George and his jealousy. And I was tired of letting it get to me. “Prince Derek.” I said calmly. I had to be careful not to make him angry, but also not to bring up old feelings between me and my ex-husband.“Maybe we should talk about this tomorrow. I...” I raised my hands in frustration. “Tonight has been more complicated than I thought it would be.”Derek blinked, his mouth opening like he wanted to dis

George's POVAs soon as I entered the restaurant, I knew I had made a mistake. The flash of the cameras still hurt my eyes, and Brittany's grip on my arm was too tight as she leaned in to say something pointless about choosing the place. But none of that mattered anymore.Because there she was. Wendy. My breath caught. Her laugh sounded out, gentle and sweet, like a memory that stuck with me. She was really smiling. And next to her was a man I didn't know, but he seemed like a big deal. He sat up straight, his suit was perfectly clean, and the smile on his face was a bit too confident as he leaned in close to her, whispering in her ear.I almost froze on the spot. Almost."George?" Brittany's voice woke me up from my trance. Her fake niceness annoyed me as she gave a big smile to the photographers behind us.Then Wendy looked at me. The smile on her face went away for a second, but that was all I needed to see. I knew she was just as surprised as I was. She didn't think I'd be here to

George's POVWendy’s hurt and disappointed face kept flashing in my mind. I kept replaying the date, feeling regret with every mistake. What could I have done better? How could I have reached her heart? These questions circled, with no answers, until the early light of morning started to come through the curtains.I finally fell asleep, but only for a little while. I woke up suddenly, grabbing my phone. The calendar showed Wendy's birthday. I felt a rush of panic and guilt. I had been so focused on feeling sorry for myself that I almost forgot. I threw off the covers, my heart pounding. I needed to fix this, or at least try. I hadn’t forgotten her birthday. I planned everything, and I needed to show her I still care and haven’t given up on us.I wrote a letter, sharing my regret and hope for her happiness. I called my helper and told him to send it with a bunch of her favorite red roses and a box of the fanciest chocolates I could find. I didn’t mind the cost all that mattered was Wen

Wendy's POVThe glass doors opened as I walked into the lobby of my office building. The quiet sound of the air and the gentle typing on computers filled the room like a nice background noise. But today, there was something more - a quiet excitement, a soft murmur of people talking. I didn't need to see them to know they were talking about it, about her. About Queen Rosina, the mean person finally shown for who she really was.I walked past the front desk, the quiet talking fading away, but I heard a few things - “bad person.” “mean plans.” “finally caught.” It seemed everyone knew about Rosina's dishonesty now, and it was ruining her reputation. I let a small smile show on my face. It was a good day, a very good day. I was finally getting my life back to normal.Arriving at my office door, I swiped my card, the lock opening with a nice click. George's POVI honked the horn on my car. I knew it was childish, but thinking about Wendy’s reaction made me smile like crazy. I’d spent the whole afternoon adjusting it to be just the right amount. Her door opened, and then she showed up.I couldn't breathe. She walked down the steps like she was floating, wearing a dress. I didn't even notice the color or the fabric, just how it flowed with her, how the light highlighted every curve. The dress was both elegant and incredibly sexy, and she wore it perfectly. It didn't matter what the dress looked like. It was her in the dress that mattered.I quickly turned off the car and jumped out, rushing to her side. I opened the door for her, my heart beating fast. "Wendy," I said, trying to keep my voice steady, "You look… absolutely beautiful."She hesitated before taking my hand, looking at me a bit longer than she had to.
