“The Alpha?...” My jaw dropped with a question after the strange male just made me know that his brother was the Alpha. It actually left me dumbfounded for a few seconds trying to figure something out and when I did, I gasped and swiftly headed for the window.

“Hey, what are you doing? Be careful…” He said and tried to reach out to me after I fell to the floor, but got up immediately trying to reach for the window to look outside and find out where I was.

“Oh my God, what is this place?” I asked, shocked while looking outside the window and seeing a large number of people working and some of them chatting.

“Uhh…this is obviously a Packhouse, how long have you not been in one?” The male gave me a look of uncertainty, coming up to meet me at the window. He probably thinks that I've stayed out of a Pack for too long judging from the kind of question he asked.

I mean I can't blame him for thinking that way since he found me passed out under the rain in the woods last night, and he was generous enough to bring me over to this place.

But I'm not even a rogue yet! Rogues don't have a purpose in life and they get banished from their Pack. I wasn't banished, I left on my own and I probably still have a purpose in life. Don't I?

“A Packhouse? Sorry but what Pack is this? And who brought me here? I didn't ask to be brought to this place, the flood was supposed to have taken me away to somewhere else last night…” I murmured in a panicked tone, moving away from the window and looking at the strange male for answers.

He's supposed to know how I ended up in this place since he has been the only one here with me since I woke up.

“Uhh, I don't think I know what you are talking about but there was no flood in the woods last night. I found you passed out under the rain while I was out hunting, and you were about to get constricted by this large snake I found lurking. I couldn't let that happen so I took you away and brought you here, there was no other place I could take you”

The male explained, letting me know why I wasn't carried away by the rain last night as planned. The stupid rain didn't even pour down enough to flood the entire woods and carry me away as expected. What a clown I was to think that was actually going to happen.

I should have wished for a tsunami to have happened instead. The moon goddess could have easily heard the prayer of an innocent rejected soul.

“Well, you should have just left me there to die. It would have been much better if that snake had eaten me. What are you expecting me to say, thank you?” I frowned with sarcasm, looking at the male with an upset face as if it was his fault for the flood not happening.

Although showing a little sign of appreciation for saving my ass last night wouldn't do me any harm, I refused to do it. After all, I'm kind of pretty sure that I was certain of dying last night, that's why I wished for a flood to happen in the first place and take me away.

“Uhm, I never expected to get that from you. You are a little hostile, but you are actually among the first set of rogues that I've found and rescued from the woods for the past three months, so I don't think that a little ‘thank you, Hunter, for saving my life' would cause you any harm to say”

The strange male shrugged, still hoping to see me appreciate him, but I simply smiled and ignored him and then went ahead to find a way out of the room.

I can't seem to find a door.

“Well, I never asked to be rescued, Hunter, and I'm not a rogue. I have a Pack, I have a home, so now show me the way out of this place, I need to leave” I demanded, pointing at the certain part of the wall where I thought a door was supposed to be, but there wasn't any in this room.

It's probably a secret place where they keep rescued rogues to prevent them from escaping, unfortunately, I'm not one.

“Where are you supposed to go? You might not seem like a rogue or be one as you said, but I think I know when someone needs help when I see it” The male said, refusing to show me the way out of the room and it got me a little offended because it's not any of his concern where I want to go.

“That is none of your damn business, Hunter or whatever your name is, I don't think we know each other well enough for me to tell you where I want to go. Just tell me where I can find the door and I'll be out of your hair, I don't need your goddamn help” I refused Hunter's sweet offer to help me, moving back toward him to say it to his face.

I don't even know who the hell he is or what he wants from me and he's offering to help me. He showed enough hospitality when he rescued me from the heavy rain last night and brought me here. He wants something from me and I'm certainly not falling for that.

A stranger can't just appear out of nowhere and save me from an unhappened flood, bring me over to his Pack, and then offer to give me some more help without wanting anything in return.

“You are right, I don't know you well enough to let me know where you want to go and it's none of my business. But at least you know my name now, so you can tell me yours as well and we can start from there,” Hunter took his hand out for a handshake and it left me speechless for a second, looking at the hand he brought out for an introduction.

Does he seriously think that I'm in the mood for that right now? I don't care what his name is or who he is, if he hadn't even mentioned his name when he was trying to get me to thank him for rescuing my ass in the woods last night, I would have never asked. I find it pretty irrelevant.

I can't just let a stranger I know nothing about know my name. Besides, he found me in the woods and carried me away. In criminal terms, it can be considered an abduction since I wasn't in consent with that.

“Dude, what is your problem? What do you want from me? Do I look like I'm in the mood to do this with you right now? I don't know who the hell you are, and you wouldn't show me the way out of this place! If I'm being held against my will, you can at least let me know that because I don't see any chains on me right now”

I swiftly took offense at Hunter, letting him know that we were not going to be introducing ourselves to each other, but he didn't seem to mind that and pointed at my wrist instead.

“That tattoo on your wrist…” He said and I diverted my attention to my wrist abruptly.

“It says you are a healer, right? If you are, then I might need your help. My mate got shot by poachers last night when we were out hunting, I think the arrow was poisoned because she's kind of finding it difficult to heal. We lost our healer during the war last year and the one we got now isn't really up to the task but I know you are”

“Me? What makes you think that I’m a healer? Anyone can get this tattooed on their wrist. It's just a marking” I scoffed, finding Hunter ridiculous, and hid my tattooed wrist behind my back immediately. I mistakenly revealed it to him when I brought my hands out to show him that I wasn’t chained since he wouldn't let me out of the room.

I knew he was up to something when he didn't want to show me the way out of this place when I first asked. He wanted something from me.

It's a good thing he revealed it now because I was eventually going to figure it out myself anyway.

“I know, but that's not just any ordinary marking. That's a healer’s marking, it doesn't matter the clan you are from, it's all the same pattern, every werewolf healer gets that kind of marking on their wrist” Hunter told me but I only scoffed and rolled my eyes. I've never seen anyone as ridiculous and desperate as him.

“Sorry, but as desperate as you may sound right now, I didn't sign up for this. I'm leaving” I said to him with no care in the world who he wants me to heal, and I turned to leave to find the way out of the room myself. I'll just find the way out since he doesn't want to show me.

“I know you got rejected and maybe I can help you get him back…” I walked a few steps away from Hunter only to hear him say that and I froze instantly in my track.

“There was no huge snake in the woods last night that would have eaten you. I made it all up, we were watching you from the start and we couldn't leave you after we saw you passed out under the rain, so I brought you over but we were attacked on our way home so please I need your help. You won't have to worry about a place to stay for now, I got you covered”

I didn't bother to take any more steps forward after Hunter let me know all that. I mean he does have a point and his offering is quite tempting. But as much as I wanted to leave his place, I don't really have anywhere to go, so spending a few days here before I can figure something out and where to go might not be much of a bad idea.

However, I didn't respond immediately as I didn't want to make it seem like I was too desperate to just accept such an offer from a stranger. But I finally turned around to let him know that I accepted his offer.

“Well, where is she? If it's the poison that I'm thinking about, then she might not have too long”

I seriously cannot believe that I'm doing this. I mean agreeing to help heal someone else’s mate when I recently just lost mine last night, might be the most ridiculing and funny thing to happen to me right after the night that I got rejected. The universe must be happy to want to troll me again. Or maybe I can just let Hunter's mate die so he can feel exactly what I'm feeling. I'm not supposed to be the only one to suffer like this. Who knows? The hurt might likely reduce if I get to share the misfortune, right? I don't even know if I'm walking right into a trap following him. I mean they could be the poachers here and I was being lied to the whole time. Anyway, since I still don't have any chains on my hands or feet for now, I think I can trust him. “Well, aren't we there yet? “We are almost there, please be patient with me” “Well, I don't have all day, Hunter,” I said rudely and rolled my eyes as if I had any urgent place to be, following Hunter to take me to his inju

“I’m an enemy?...” My brows furrowed with confusion and curiosity at the same time with the word ‘enemy’ ringing nonstop in my head like a ringtone. What exactly does Hunter mean by that? I mean, initially, I did think that I could be in enemy territory when I first opened my eyes and woke up from my slumber. However, if I'm an enemy, why the hell was I brought here? And why then is he leaving me with his mate and requesting my help at the same time too? You can't ask for help from an enemy and leave them alone with someone you love, right? Hunter must have a thing for easily trusting strangers and an enemy at that too I guess. “You can't be seen by him, he can't know that you are here. I'll explain better when I'm back, so please make sure to stay with Skye no matter what happens” These were Hunter's last words to me before departing and giving Skye a deep kiss on the top of her head. After he was gone, I slowly shifted my attention to her while she swiftly avoided it, as

“No, no, stop, let me go! Let go of me!” I yelled, struggling to set myself free from the strong grip of the stranger, forcefully dragging me through this big unidentified passageway to be taken to his Alpha. I hit on his arm severally for him to let go but he didn't even bulge as if it was tiny drops of rain beating on his skin. There were guards everywhere in this particular area, guarding the place thoroughly and none of them bothered to come between me and him to find out what was going on. I think the stranger must be among them because at one point we got stopped by one of the guards, who addressed him as Finn and asked why I was screaming to be freed like a goat about to be slaughtered. I was relieved, actually thinking a savior had come to my aid despite all the others who ignored my calling to be set free. However, he asked if he could join Finn in taking me to their Alpha as if there’s a special reward reserved somewhere and waiting for those who catch and bring in i

I wanted to deal with her right away but decided to bring her to you since you came back victorious. I think we should use her as a scapegoat for the others to learn” Finn pointed, falsely accusing me in front of his Alpha even when I told him already that I wasn't a thief. It made me gulp hard because I was pretty helpless in this situation and the Alpha slowly starting to walk toward me didn't make any of the situation better. It's as if every single step he took made the earth tremble and I was frightened as hell, shivering in my shell while he kept approaching me. I couldn't say anything, being the culprit here. Anything I say can probably be used against me even when I’m never going to be tried in a court of law. My jaw dropped open a little and I swallowed again but it still didn't go down my throat

Why is she getting special treatment?” “The rest of our healers? Really Josephine? How many capable healers do we still have remaining out there? Most of them were wiped out during the death war, I don't think we should play with this God-given chance, and she's not receiving any special treatment. Let’s just assume she's a guest and we are treating her like one” “Ugh, whatever, I just don't get why we get to play the maids” I hear some voices speaking indistinctly and can feel the water being poured on my skin. It was so refreshing that I smiled and relaxed more comfortably in the tub to keep receiving the refreshing treatment. The people giving me a bath surely know how to work magic with their hands. The water is warm and the sweet scents of the lovely flowers added in the bath made it smell divine. It made me

Sitting alone with Hunter in the bathhouse, I'm silently trapped in complete guilt and shame, refusing to believe that he saw me naked. I was the one at fault and the stupid one for attempting to walk out of a bathroom without realizing that I had to put on some clothes first. Hunter himself seems to have noticed the awkwardness revolving around me and in the room too, so he kept himself at a good distance and didn't bring up the topic of what happened a few minutes ago. He shouldn't please, I would eventually cringe to death if he did. “Hey…you know I'm sorry for what happened, I didn't know…” And just when I thought that he wouldn't say anything, Hunter then decided that apologizing is much better than keeping quiet and pretending like nothing happened when that is exactly what I want to happen. “No, no, no, please, no, you don't have to do that, you don’t have to apologize” I swiftly chipped in, cutting him off immediately. He's only making the situation in the room more

I got dressed in proper clothes after I left the bathhouse and got a little touch of makeup on my face by some of their makeup artists. I even got my wavy brunette hair combed and styled perfectly. I'm dressed in such a noble way that I begin to think that I'm about to be handed this very important position in the Pack. It's as if I'm no longer the one who was accused hours ago of being a thief and now I'm being treated like some prime minister. “Where exactly are you taking me?” “Calm your horses, you are not being executed, you would be in rags if you were, you wouldn’t be dressed as a princess” Hunter made known to me while being my escort to go meet his brother. I refused to go without him after he let me know that I would be going alone. “Yeah, I think I like how so assuring that makes me” I pointed out sarcastically and grabbed the hem of my dress to be able to walk well. The dress is as heavy as a cow and weighs me down. I didn't even know where they got it and de

Why?” I didn't see that coming, so was taken by surprise when Michelle suddenly announced that Hunter wasn't going to be able to use his vision today or tomorrow. How cruel is that? It's literally a punishment! “Because it wouldn't wear off until tomorrow, by exactly the same time that this Anita or whatever you called her threw him that powdered substance in his eyes. I reached out to Hunter, touching him by the arm and he looked at me with hope the same way I looked at him. I think there's a punishment for when one refuses to accept an offer or a job brought to them by an Alpha, but I didn't care about that when I turned down the job from Gordon to be his personal healer. I mean for him to be the one to come down to my room himself to let me know he wanted me as his personal healer. I'm not able to tell now if it was just a job offer or if he was being desperate. To be sincere, I was tempted for a minute to accept the job but I felt better, rejecting it. I think accepting to be his personal healer has more to it than it sounded. He's literally going to turn me into a maid, yup, I think that's what was going to happen if I had said yes to him.I slammed the door shut after he left and was far gone so he wouldn't think I desposed him that much, with the way I slammed the door. “Be his personal healer?” I scoffed,“I think he must have been kidding” I moved away from the door and to the bed, where I sat and let out a deep breath.I clutched my chest and c
