Healer.

“The Alpha?...” My jaw dropped with a question after the strange male just made me know that his brother was the Alpha. It actually left me dumbfounded for a few seconds trying to figure something out and when I did, I gasped and swiftly headed for the window.

“Hey, what are you doing? Be careful…” He said and tried to reach out to me after I fell to the floor, but got up immediately trying to reach for the window to look outside and find out where I was.

“Oh my God, what is this place?” I asked, shocked while looking outside the window and seeing a large number of people working and some of them chatting.

“Uhh…this is obviously a Packhouse, how long have you not been in one?” The male gave me a look of uncertainty, coming up to meet me at the window. He probably thinks that I've stayed out of a Pack for too long judging from the kind of question he asked.

I mean I can't blame him for thinking that way since he found me passed out under the rain in the woods last night, and he was generous enough to bring me over to this place.

But I'm not even a rogue yet! Rogues don't have a purpose in life and they get banished from their Pack. I wasn't banished, I left on my own and I probably still have a purpose in life. Don't I?

“A Packhouse? Sorry but what Pack is this? And who brought me here? I didn't ask to be brought to this place, the flood was supposed to have taken me away to somewhere else last night…” I murmured in a panicked tone, moving away from the window and looking at the strange male for answers.

He's supposed to know how I ended up in this place since he has been the only one here with me since I woke up.

“Uhh, I don't think I know what you are talking about but there was no flood in the woods last night. I found you passed out under the rain while I was out hunting, and you were about to get constricted by this large snake I found lurking. I couldn't let that happen so I took you away and brought you here, there was no other place I could take you”

The male explained, letting me know why I wasn't carried away by the rain last night as planned. The stupid rain didn't even pour down enough to flood the entire woods and carry me away as expected. What a clown I was to think that was actually going to happen.

I should have wished for a tsunami to have happened instead. The moon goddess could have easily heard the prayer of an innocent rejected soul.

“Well, you should have just left me there to die. It would have been much better if that snake had eaten me. What are you expecting me to say, thank you?” I frowned with sarcasm, looking at the male with an upset face as if it was his fault for the flood not happening.

Although showing a little sign of appreciation for saving my ass last night wouldn't do me any harm, I refused to do it. After all, I'm kind of pretty sure that I was certain of dying last night, that's why I wished for a flood to happen in the first place and take me away.

“Uhm, I never expected to get that from you. You are a little hostile, but you are actually among the first set of rogues that I've found and rescued from the woods for the past three months, so I don't think that a little ‘thank you, Hunter, for saving my life' would cause you any harm to say”

The strange male shrugged, still hoping to see me appreciate him, but I simply smiled and ignored him and then went ahead to find a way out of the room.

I can't seem to find a door.

“Well, I never asked to be rescued, Hunter, and I'm not a rogue. I have a Pack, I have a home, so now show me the way out of this place, I need to leave” I demanded, pointing at the certain part of the wall where I thought a door was supposed to be, but there wasn't any in this room.

It's probably a secret place where they keep rescued rogues to prevent them from escaping, unfortunately, I'm not one.

“Where are you supposed to go? You might not seem like a rogue or be one as you said, but I think I know when someone needs help when I see it” The male said, refusing to show me the way out of the room and it got me a little offended because it's not any of his concern where I want to go.

“That is none of your damn business, Hunter or whatever your name is, I don't think we know each other well enough for me to tell you where I want to go. Just tell me where I can find the door and I'll be out of your hair, I don't need your goddamn help” I refused Hunter's sweet offer to help me, moving back toward him to say it to his face.

I don't even know who the hell he is or what he wants from me and he's offering to help me. He showed enough hospitality when he rescued me from the heavy rain last night and brought me here. He wants something from me and I'm certainly not falling for that.

A stranger can't just appear out of nowhere and save me from an unhappened flood, bring me over to his Pack, and then offer to give me some more help without wanting anything in return.

“You are right, I don't know you well enough to let me know where you want to go and it's none of my business. But at least you know my name now, so you can tell me yours as well and we can start from there,” Hunter took his hand out for a handshake and it left me speechless for a second, looking at the hand he brought out for an introduction.

Does he seriously think that I'm in the mood for that right now? I don't care what his name is or who he is, if he hadn't even mentioned his name when he was trying to get me to thank him for rescuing my ass in the woods last night, I would have never asked. I find it pretty irrelevant.

I can't just let a stranger I know nothing about know my name. Besides, he found me in the woods and carried me away. In criminal terms, it can be considered an abduction since I wasn't in consent with that.

“Dude, what is your problem? What do you want from me? Do I look like I'm in the mood to do this with you right now? I don't know who the hell you are, and you wouldn't show me the way out of this place! If I'm being held against my will, you can at least let me know that because I don't see any chains on me right now”

I swiftly took offense at Hunter, letting him know that we were not going to be introducing ourselves to each other, but he didn't seem to mind that and pointed at my wrist instead.

“That tattoo on your wrist…” He said and I diverted my attention to my wrist abruptly.

“It says you are a healer, right? If you are, then I might need your help. My mate got shot by poachers last night when we were out hunting, I think the arrow was poisoned because she's kind of finding it difficult to heal. We lost our healer during the war last year and the one we got now isn't really up to the task but I know you are”

“Me? What makes you think that I’m a healer? Anyone can get this tattooed on their wrist. It's just a marking” I scoffed, finding Hunter ridiculous, and hid my tattooed wrist behind my back immediately. I mistakenly revealed it to him when I brought my hands out to show him that I wasn’t chained since he wouldn't let me out of the room.

I knew he was up to something when he didn't want to show me the way out of this place when I first asked. He wanted something from me.

It's a good thing he revealed it now because I was eventually going to figure it out myself anyway.

“I know, but that's not just any ordinary marking. That's a healer’s marking, it doesn't matter the clan you are from, it's all the same pattern, every werewolf healer gets that kind of marking on their wrist” Hunter told me but I only scoffed and rolled my eyes. I've never seen anyone as ridiculous and desperate as him.

“Sorry, but as desperate as you may sound right now, I didn't sign up for this. I'm leaving” I said to him with no care in the world who he wants me to heal, and I turned to leave to find the way out of the room myself. I'll just find the way out since he doesn't want to show me.

“I know you got rejected and maybe I can help you get him back…” I walked a few steps away from Hunter only to hear him say that and I froze instantly in my track.

“There was no huge snake in the woods last night that would have eaten you. I made it all up, we were watching you from the start and we couldn't leave you after we saw you passed out under the rain, so I brought you over but we were attacked on our way home so please I need your help. You won't have to worry about a place to stay for now, I got you covered”

I didn't bother to take any more steps forward after Hunter let me know all that. I mean he does have a point and his offering is quite tempting. But as much as I wanted to leave his place, I don't really have anywhere to go, so spending a few days here before I can figure something out and where to go might not be much of a bad idea.

However, I didn't respond immediately as I didn't want to make it seem like I was too desperate to just accept such an offer from a stranger. But I finally turned around to let him know that I accepted his offer.

“Well, where is she? If it's the poison that I'm thinking about, then she might not have too long”
