PROLOGUE

“Leave.” Kayla said to Sebastian, now starting to get irritated by his presence.

“You know I will never do that so stop saying that.” He answered in a calm and confident way. He’s very confident that he will get her back.

“Okay let’s say I couldn’t make you leave, but the police will do.” Kayla replied confidently and started dialing something on her phone. She doesn't want others to see her weakness especially the man who’s in front of her right now. She will fight no matter what happens.

Suddenly, someone knocked on her front door earlier and in the rush that it might be the person she was expecting, she didn't bother to look and see who it was. Only to find out that it was this man who’s knocking endlessly.

Sebastian smirked.

“You know my connections. You know who am I. You know what I’m capable of doing and you know calling the police won’t make me leave. I could even make them help me pursue you in a snap.” He said sarcastically but confidently. As if threatening her.

“Then fuck you. Fuck your name and fuck all your fucking connections.” She said almost shouting, now getting frustrated at him.

“Yes, fuck me baby.” He erotically answered and laughed a little. Licking his lower lip.

“Bullshit Seb. If you’re just here to make fun of me then you better just leave because I’m now losing my patience.” Kayla fought back at his jokes. She doesn’t have time for him and all his damn business.

“No, I’m not here to make fun of you baby. I’m here to persuade you to come home. Please come back home. Come back to me. Please.” Seriousness was very evident in Sebastian’s voice. You will not see the teasing face anymore from earlier because that has been replaced by sincerity now.

“Few years without you are enough. I’ve already given you enough time to think about us. Now it’s over. I’m so done with you running away from me. I’m here to bring you back to me.” He added, now almost begging.

Hearing those words come out from this man’s mouth touched Kayla’s heart. After all these years he still has this unexplainable effect on her. After all these years of running away, she still feels the same feeling she felt towards him from before. Even if she can't admit it to herself, she can't deny that this man is still the one her heart beats for.

But she have to fight it. She have to fight her heart once again because it might end up shattered for the God knows how many times again. So instead of getting carried away to his words, she just braced herself and prepared for an argument she would throw at him in a while. At times like this, she had realized that she needs to follow her mind before her heart because following her heart would only cause heartbreak to her. She’s not the weak Kayla from before anymore. Now she became stronger especially since she is already fighting for someone. Her child.

“Liar. You didn’t even love me right? My sister’s the one you truly love and not me. I’m just a fucking substitute to her. So now, leave and get lost.” She now can’t help but to shout at him wholeheartedly. Tears started to fall from Kayla’s eyes that made Sebastian weaken. She can’t help but to cry when she remembered her heartbreak before. The time when all she got from this man was pain.

“Shhh. Hush now baby. I love you. Please stop saying that. I love you baby.” Sebastian took a step closer to hold her and to calm her down. While holding her, Kayla saw their wedding ring on Sebastian’s ring finger. She realized that he’s still wearing their wedding ring even though they’ve been away from each other for years. She was about to breakdown because of that realizations but she still chose to manage herself and insisted on his touch.

“Stay away from me. We had a loveless marriage so you of all people don’t have a right to talk about love. You’re incapable of loving me because there’s already someone there.” Kayla said and slightly pointed at Sebastian's chest where the heart is located.

“No. Please baby come home and let me explain. Come back first so that we can talk about it. Please.” Sebastian begged.

“Why would I want to come back to that marriage? I don’t want my life to get harder again. Marrying you was the worst thing that has happened to me.” Of course she didn’t mean what she said. Even if what they had was a loveless marriage, she is still so grateful that it’s the Sebastian Guevarra she married with. Even up until now, she still cherishes those memories with him during that marriage. Kayla can’t deny the fact that even if it was loveless, they still have a lot of happy moments they shared together that made her the happiest girl in the world.

Pain was very evident on Sebastian’s eyes for a second. It immediately disappeared and was replaced by his cold expression.

“So you really want me gone huh. For good.” Kayla didn’t felt that he was saying those words directly to her. It’s as if he’s saying those words to himself. To remind himself and to make him realize that Kayla no longer wants him. He suddenly nodded. Accepting his defeat.

Sebastian was about to turn his back and leave when a voice of a little girl echoed.

“Mommy!” The voice said, shouting. The voice was followed by a little girl who’s running as if there’s something chasing her. Sebastian frowned out of confusion.

Kayla on the other hand can’t breathe properly. The worst possible thing has finally come.

“B-baby. Y-you’re home.” Kayla said to the little girl happily but she can’t hide the shaking from her voice.

“Hahaha. She’s so stubborn just like you.” A man said. Drew Guevarra, Sebastian’s cousin appeared on the scene. Both Sebastian and Drew are shocked to see each other there. Sebastian got confused even more.

After a moment of silence, Sebastian was the first one to break the silence surrounding them.

“So this is the reason why you don’t want to come back to me huh.” Sebastian said, unable to process everything that’s happening.

“You already have a family. And with my cousin?” He continued in disbelief.

He wants to shout. He wants to punch his cousin so bad. He just wants to rip everything off at this moment because of what he found out but he chose not to.

He was about to just leave shattered when the little girl talk.

“Daddy?” The little girl said, referring and looking directly to Sebastian.

“B-baby l-let’s go inside.” Kayla said, wanting to cut off her daughter’s words.

“But that’s my daddy. I don’t want to leave my daddy here. Look, it’s him in the picture right mommy?” The little girl said while holding her necklace. It’s a locket with a familiar wedding ring.

Sebastian came closer to look at the picture only to see the wedding picture of him and Kayla inside the locket.

He closed his eyes. You can see the frustration in his face.

“Explain. Everything. To. Me.” He said slowly but surely to Kayla while gritting his teeth.
