Thanks for reading, beasties and for all your precious gems and comments. They make my day, seriously. Love you <3
[Kian]To kill someone in someone else’s dream using a jinxed weapon, in terms of dark magic, meant erasing all the memories that person had of the other in their life. It would be a small painless amnesia for Carys, but if Ruin’s dagger had pierced my chest in Carys’ dream, I would have been erased from even the smallest fragments of her memories. It’d be as if I never existed in her life.Ruin had possessed me in Carys’ memories, so Zarek manifested himself in Carys’ dream using the dream link (handcuffs) Carys had put on herself and me. I had been monitoring Carys while she slept. The psychiatrist who Carys talked to was a doctor from Xafran, an expert Hexist. She told me that Carys’ nightmares were being hexed by two different dark manas. One hex had already been weakened and removed by the other dominant one that had been spreading in her mind. But Carys never remembered her nightmares, so the Hexist suggested that I enter her dream through the dream link and see what actually w
[Kian] Sitting on the edge of the bed, Carys put on my shirt. She hadn’t spoken a word ever since I asked her about Zara. Something about the heavy change in her aura stopped me from prying deeper at the moment. Thick tension remained hung in the silence between us. After putting on my pants properly, I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling. Something about whatever happened between us didn’t feel right suddenly. Apprehension gnawed in my stomach. She got down from the bed, trudged into the bathroom, locking herself inside. Only when she turned on the shower did I sit up on the bed. I picked up her clothes from the bed. ‘Maybe you should have used a condom,’ Zarek said awkwardly. Licking my lips, I let out a sigh, throwing our clothes on the armchair. ‘Maybe she didn’t want it the way it happened?’ Zarek said. ‘You aren’t helping at all right now. You are just making things worse,’ I grunted. ‘It’s about Zara. Something happened, Kian. And from the way her silence felt,
[Carys]I searched for the college Edith had graduated from. It showed—Morvill University, Wordswood.I ran my fingers through my hair, showing the search results to Kian.We exchanged a look of understanding while waiting outside the changing room of a mall.“Get yer dirty hands off meh, ye slimy fish!” Morana yelled from inside the changing room. “Not my braid! Don’t ye dare touch my lucky braid!” She yelled at the store manager who was helping her change her look that suited a high end gala.Nox had been rather self-conscious and flustered when he entered the mall. As if it was his first time entering a mall. He had quietly and stiffly walked into the changing room with the three piece suit and the male helper to assist him wear it.I wish Morana could be as mature as that kid.“I’ll feed ye to the dire octopus in the Drunken ocean! Get yer tentacles off me, ye squid of a lady!” Morana roared from her changing room and I let out an exasperated sigh.Verity let out an annoyed grunt
[Carys] I chose a simple black dress that corresponded with the dress code of the gala. Men were to wear formal attires that had balanced air of both sophistication and sensuality. Masquerades dewed with morbidness and mystery. Attendees were encouraged to be creative with their looks as long as it held onto the decency of intellectual eroticism. Women were expected to maintain the same vibe of eliteness and fantasy. But not blurring the lines’ appropriateness. They were to wear elegant long dresses in colors black, burgundy or dark green and face veils from nose and below. They could get creative with their jewelry, hairstyle and heels. Gloves were compulsory for all. “How are we supposed to go to an unlocated location?” I asked, looking at the invitation card on my phone. “Just let the right time come. You’ll know how these events work in Xafran,” Kian said. “Have you been to this gala before?” “Not this gala, but I have been to several others for business,” he said, and I s
[Carys]Some guests looked as confused as Verity, Nox, and I. While some guests wore an air of cognisance around them like Kian and, quite unexpectedly, Morana. The hall was bathed in a soft, serene glow. The warm light from a thousand candles flickered in the hall. Chandeliers and candelabras added to the artistic light and dark ambience.Several archways branched out from the hall. The way darkness lurked beyond a few feet of those archways, I was curious to know where they led to. But my experience in this foreign land hadn’t been the best, so my curiosity could have a nap for the night. The hall was filled with subtle whispering and hushed conversations. Every word seemed to be echoing back, hitting the intricately designed walls as such that every inch of the wall had tiny marble statues telling a story. There were huge stained glass windows flanking the balcony and the staircase which led to it.Refreshment tables were arranged all around the hall filled with all kinds of cuisi
[Carys]“We meet again, belladonna…” Ruin’s voice tensed up every fiber in my body. The song that slowly picked up pace in the background did nothing to diffuse the darkness that lurked in his greeting. My hand involuntarily went over my cleavage. Ruin’s gaze dipped to my hand over my chest, and a subtle smirk appeared on his face.“Indeed…” Kian held my wrist and pulled me behind himself. He walked in front of me, sliding his hand in his suit’s inner pocket. He pulled out a black king of clubs card between his fingers. “I had been waiting… eagerly to see you again, Ruin.”A sudden apprehensive gravity fell in the entire hall and I wasn’t the only one to feel it. The music stopped and the dying candle flame burst into bolder, more violent flames, filling the hall with blinding light.“Ruin?”“Oh, my god.”“Someone call the hunters!”“Inform the Guild!”The crowd scurried away from around Ruin.“Oh, dear… what’s going on here?” Illumi hovered near the balcony. “I heard someone say Ruin
[Carys]Morana and I kept running through the endless dark corridors. Everywhere we went looked exactly the same. It seemed as if we were just moving in circles.Panting, both of us stopped at the junction where the corridors met.“I can’t do this. Go ahead,” I said. “I need to go back. I can’t leave him behind.”Morana ran her fingers through her hair, looking around at the corridors that branched from the junction.“Is there an exit at all?” she asked, panting as if she had never heard what I said. “I am sure even the unlocated locations have exits and entrances. If not physical, then magical. We just… need to find them. Although I am not sure what to expect beyond those corridors.”I peered at her.“You go ahead and get out of here. Illumi said capturing me was their priority. They won’t come after you until they have caught me. And now that I know they are after me, I will not be caught so easily. If you meet Nox, take him and leave. If the invitation works the way Kian said, Nox
[Carys]Reality bled into my unconsciousness with the loud pattering of rain mixed with snow against the glass windows. My eyes opened to the intricately designed old fashioned arched window, flanked by inbuilt bookshelves. A black couch was placed between the bookshelves.Beyond the streaks of raindrops trailing down the outer surface of the windows, a storm raged. Ominous monstrous clouds cannibalized one another, hanging low in the dark sky.I could hear waves crashing against the shore. “Kian…” My breaths came out as a fog before my face. Cold.My eyes skimmed to the glistening black ceiling as if it was made of black ice. The walls were the same. The room seemed to have been carved out of pristine black ice and so was most of the furniture.I sprung up on the bed with a groan. I clenched my bandaged chest. The claw wound on my chest had almost healed. The room spun before my eyes slightly. Holding my head, I shut my eyes. The previous night came back to me completely.Kian was

[Carys]“At the conclusion of this meeting, this is my final verdict in compliance with the vote of other alphas — the Autumn pack will not be dissolved. As proposed by the Gamma Mic of Autumn pack, the Autumn pack will be run under emergency conditions with the gamma assuming the beta’s position and upholding the pack. The rank of the alpha of the Autumn pack will remain empty until Alpha Joshua’s child is born. AAC will assist the Autumn pack at every stage of recovery.” I didn’t attend the meeting, but turns out Verity had other ways to have a peek into everything that happened in the conference hall. “Edith Percy Nightfall’s punishment will be postponed until and after the heir of the Autumn pack reaches the age of five. She will be convicted like everyone else who was responsible for the Blank Space incident. Until then, she’ll remain under AAC’s surveillance.” I let out a sigh. “As per Alpha Dominic’s request, the Spring pack will monitor and take care of Edith Percy Nightfal
[Carys]Hoot!Snow White perched herself on Kian’s chest.“Kian’s soul has sustained severe injuries, Carys,” Moratia said. “It will take years for him to recover. The Bond that remains in his soul will help in his recovery. Keep Snow White close to him. She’ll help feed him the spiritual energy he needs through this mist. We are taking Mizkeal’s soul with us.”She looked at Death. Death turned his face towards Moratia and gave a slight nod.I lifted my gaze and looked at Moratia. The Ravens and crows that ripped Mizkeal’s soul away from Kian had long disappeared into the dark portal with his soul. The portal revolved behind Death’s divine yet haunting figure. His face was covered with a skull mask.He turned towards the portal and stretched out his hand towards Moratia. She glanced at me and smiled.“Thank you for everything, Carys,” she said before she turned around and looked into his eyes before placing her hand in his. They walked into the dark portal. Once their figures were e
[Carys]Moratia slowly looked around to see Alpha King and Liam standing near the borders with their army. After all the destruction Mizkeal caused, it was only logical for him to take things in his hand.Levi stood beside them, staring at us. I could tell by the look on his face that he tried his best to hold Alpha King back, but couldn’t. The same look was on Verity’s face.Verity tried to run towards us when Alpha King ordered one of his soldiers to take her away from the battlefield.Nox stood with the other members of the SW, looking frantically around the battlefield. He was clearly looking for Morana.Morana and Christian had fallen into the mist together, but I hadn’t seen them after that. I could only hope that they were ok.Dominic and Ash walked through the crowd of soldiers to the front-lines, taking in the situation.Of course, all of them felt the horror of Mizkeal’s wrath.“Brother!” My eyelids fluttered towards Aamna as she tried to cross the borders and come to our si
[Carys]I could feel everything Moratia felt. All the centuries of life, love and death flashed in her soul. Her soul was elated to see Mizkeal again, and the way he recognized her again filled her with hope, but it didn’t take long to shatter. Somewhere in him, she yearned to find the man she fell in love with. The prince who taught her how to live. But neither was Mizkeal the same, nor was his love for her. The pure love that a fae price once had for her had turned into a madness of a fae lord. He loved her, yes. But in a constant fear of losing her and that kind of love leads to desperation. And that desperation had blinded Mizkeal.I could actually understand the reason behind his desperation because I was desperate, too. I was desperate to save Kian, bring him back, and I was ready to do anything that could make that possible.Marrying him or not marrying him would depend on Moratia. And I knew whatever she chose would affect me significantly, so I had to brace myself for whateve
[Mizkeal]I didn’t care what happened inside me. I used every ounce of my soul for this last attack. The world could end at its own accord, but…I shifted my glare at Carys. To end her was my right.Peering at me, she got to her feet. Holding my gaze, she stood calmly amidst the exploding ground around her. She licked her lips before taking a deep breath. She smiled gently and shut her eyes, allowing the tears welled in her eyes to trail down her beautiful face.I landed on the ground. Dust and debris of the ground blasted all around us as I strutted towards her.I grabbed her wrist and yanked her closer, barely holding back my rage. The chimes of her crown jingled louder than the exploding earth, sending goosebumps all over my body.“Open your eyes…” I commanded in a slightly shivering tone.I grabbed her upper arms tighter.“Open your eyes!” I snarled at her.She shook her head, her lips trembling as she took in a shuddering breath through her tears.“Carys!”“You know my name, my p
[Mizkeal]Christian held back his groan, gritting his teeth as he glared at me with bloodshot eyes.“Why is everyone so stubborn here?” I sighed. “Well, pain is a choice, and you chose not to show it. I respect that.”“Shove that respect up your ancient ass and get out of my best friend’s body,” he growled, glaring right into my eyes.I chuckled wryly. “You have a strange sense of humor. How does it feel to be in that head of yours, to have a tongue sharper than your claws? There is no real damage you can do to me.”Christian laughed obnoxiously. “That’s the stupidest thing I have ever heard.”“Oh! Have you ever heard yourself?” I taunted back.Morana let out a titter with a smirk spread across her lips.I shifted my gaze to Morana, whose calculative eyes analyzed me.She was the one important to me, but I was still not sure if I could absorb my heart and Bond without damaging them both in the process.I couldn’t risk absorbing Bond while she had my heart because then… it could damage
[Mizkeal]As I soared towards the sky, a wave of raging adrenaline pumped through my veins, pounding in my ears.Carys Elffire was playing a dangerous game. She split the Bond in two parts! How the hell did she split it apart? But what I failed to understand was how she got a hold on Bond so quickly. A day ago, she couldn’t even keep its power in control and now she had split it in two?But what I wanted to know was how far she had decoded Bond and its abilities.Bond was far more powerful than before. New elements were added into Bond and I hadn’t had enough time to decipher all of them, either. So, it was important for me to know how much she had deciphered it or altered it.With a swift blow of my mana, I created a squall that tore the mist apart for a few seconds. It gave me enough time to escape. The mist swirled around me, playing with my head, bringing out the memories that were impossible for me to resist or ignore. Despite my efforts, echoes of Moratia’s voice haunted me, blu
[Carys]Parting from Mizkeal, I held his hands in mine. His calculative silver eyes narrowed on our hands before he looked into my eyes, as though he could see my soul.“I know what you are thinking. But I am not here for you,” I said, holding his gaze. “I’m here for Kian because I cannot lose him.”He smirked faintly, his eyes calling me out for being delusional.“If Kian lives on in you, as you… then I agree to that fate,” I said, looking into his eyes. “If his soul is merged in yours, then I’ll love his torn soul through you. If you go beyond that border, Alpha King will do everything in his power to stop you. He will kill my Kian and… I can’t let that happen. So, I’ve stopped them. I lied to them. I told them I can… stop you. But I know I can’t.”Mizkeal narrowed his eyes.“You’ve been madly in love, Mizkeal, with a woman. So, I know you understand my desperation, and this might be the stupidest decision I make for this world, but keeping you safe is the only way I can ensure Kian
