Camilla closed the door to her room and sat in her favorite chair, facing the window. She was watching like the dark clouds were slowly covering the night sky. It was getting darker and darker with every passing minute. The storm was coming, and you could hear the thunder in the distance. In an hour, the battery will be in full swing. Perfect weather, actually describing what was happening in her soul right now.
The woman sitting in the dark was livid. The first part of her plan didn't go as planned. The Alpha and Luna of the Red Moon Pack left her pack, even if she did everything for them to stay.
Camilla prepared herself for this meeting a long time ago. She has chosen her targets very carefully. The young leaders of the big pack are wise but without years of experience. Alpha was craving for the allies, as the times were tough recently. Many more miniature packs were long gone, thanks to the constant attacks of the rouges, vampires, and other bloodthirsty species. Life is brutal, and everyone wants to survive.
Just like her coven.
Camilla was twelve when Mother summoned her to explain the task waiting for her. They were not related, of course, but as a leader of the coven, she was called like that by all witches. It was the most incredible honor to be acknowledged by her.
She remembered that day like it was yesterday.
The young girl entered the private chambers, where Mother spent most of her time. Two guards escorted her there. On her way, she saw a few witches smirking at her. That made the girl nervous. She knew very well that being summoned by her usually meant trouble. Camilla tried to remember what she could have done for Mother's attention, but nothing was suspicious or wrong. She was respectful towards older witches and studied hard to be the best.
Now, she was standing before a woman who looked like she was in her late thirties. Mother had long, jet-black curly hair and dark brown, almost black eyes. She was incredibly beautiful, with a slim figure, full lips, and curves in all the right places. But only fools would fall for her appearance.
Mother was much, much older. No one could tell how old she was, as she stopped aging long ago.
Now she was looking at Camilla, who started trembling slightly, unsure what to expect.
- Take a seat. - The Mother spoke. Her voice was soft and enchanting. The girl obeyed instantly.
- I have a task for you. A very important one. You are ambitious and hard-working. Those are personality traits I value very much. As you know, our land here now is barren and demanding. We managed to adapt, but it is a hard life. But out there are the great lands that offer unlimited options. Unfortunately, they are taken by our enemies, who would kill us immediately. That is why your sisters in this coven have to live like that, hiding from others. But it was not always like that. A long time ago, we had our unique lands, our kingdom. But it was taken from us, forcing us to leave. And we have to take it back.
Camilla was listening to Mother like it would be a bedtime story. She knew their history. Werewolves and vampires have been hunting witches for ages. Even if those species hated each other, it was nothing compared to how they hated her kind.
- What do you want me to do, Mother?- She asked, bowing lightly.
- You will live amongst them to gain their trust. When the time comes, it will be your task to take control. We need land for us to grow strong. And you will provide us with one.- The woman explained, and Camilla felt trapped. How was she going to do it?
- Do not worry. We will help you at the beginning. You are leaving next week. Get yourself ready. You will have 30 years. - Mother said, waving her hand as a sign that the audience was over.
Camilla had a lot of questions, but she dared not to ask, knowing that would be a wrong move.
Mother trusted her, and she was not going to fail.
- One more thing. Take this.- The leader pushed a small box towards her. Inside was a bracelet made of gold. - This will allow you to change yourself into a wolf, to make them all believe you are one of them. Make sure you do not use it too often, as it will be using your life energy. On the other hand, this bracelet will be a sign to your sisters that you are the chosen one. Please put it on. Now go.
Camilla arrived at the Full Moon Pack a week later, just as was planned. Four powerful witches were there, too. They created a powerful spell, forcing the whole pack to believe that the girl was the daughter of the Alpha couple. They worked on it for three days before they reached the pack lands. It had to be perfect, as it was hard to fool werewolves with magic. That is why Mother chose the most powerful witches to make it work.
It was ten years ago. Camilla still had another twenty, but as an ambitious witch, she promised to fulfill her task in less than fifteen years.
Her work began as soon as she was left alone in the pack. Thanks to the spell, everyone in the pack was treating her like she was supposed to be treated as an alpha's daughter.
She put a lot of effort into having her ~ parents~ wrapped around her finger. It worked perfectly with an Alpha William, who adored her. The problem was with his wife, Luna Bianca. She was always distant and reserved. Of course, she cared about Camilla, but soon the girl understood there was something the magic couldn't fool- mother's heart. She was not their child, and Luna felt that even under the influence of a spell.
Camilla had to act. She convinced her ~ mother ~ to go for a walk. When they were deep in the forest, she used her bracelet to change herself into a wolf and attacked Bianca, who was expecting nothing and had no chance to defend herself, when her ~ daughter~ slid her throat.
To avoid suspicions, she slashed her body in a few places and hit herself against trees and rocks to get some bruises and cuts like someone who escaped death.
Then she drank a potion to lose consciousness, falling to the ground.
When they were found, she was barely breathing. Alpha was devastated. He lost his mate, and he was close to losing his child. He took her home, not allowing anyone to come closer. He took care of her, making Camilla slowly heal.
When she was finally ~ better~, he became very protective. As Alpha often said, Camilla was his mate's last part.
Everything was almost perfect. The young witch was allowed to do anything.
It was time for the second part of the plan. She had to take control of her ~father~. It took her a while, but finally, she succeeded, making him a puppet in her hands. To the point, he was saying whatever she thought about. Perfect solution.
The third part of her task was the hardest. Camilla had plans to make some Alpha fall for her and make her his own Luna. She could settle on controlling Alpha William's Pack but wished to offer her sisters something special.
And that was when Sean came into the picture. Young Alpha with the massive land of his pack. As they were neighbors, it would be ideal. If she could convince him to love her, both those pack lands would be more than enough to create a new witch kingdom.
There was only one issue. Alpha Sean already had his Luna.
That is why Camilla was so angry now. She wanted to meet them to judge what her opponent was like.
Luck was on her side for now. Young Alpha was looking for allies, so she arranged it all to look like her ~father~ was interested in this idea.
That was such a perfect opportunity. Camilla knew from the first moment that Alpha would be easy to manipulate. He had a tough time trying to keep his eyes off her.
But his Luna, Katherine, was something she did not predict. She treated her with distance and cold, like she was holding some grunge against a witch, not knowing her.
That is why she is sitting in complete darkness, listening to the sounds of a storm. There was a mistake in her calculations, misjudging Katherine. Now Camilla had to think about how to get closer to the Alpha, as his wife ruined the first attempt. There was no way that the Alpha couple would come here again. So, there was only one solution. Camilla had to find her way into their pack.
If you want to know your opponent, you must stay close to him.
The witch stood up from her seat, coming closer to the window. The rain was slowly dying down as the storm moved to the west.
Camilla opened the door leading to the balcony. The air was cool and clear. The witch took a deep breath.
She had a plan.
When they returned home, Sean spent his whole time in the office. Undoubtedly, he was still angry at his wife for her behavior.Katherine was unfazed by that as she was happy that her plan worked. In the opposite to what happened before, they didn't stay at the Full Moon Pack, so her husband wasn't exposed to Camilla's charm for too long. The young Luna was trying to remember what it looked like the last time.If she was right, they stayed for the night on their first visit, as she was, in fact, tired after the whole day. The next morning, she found her mate in the packhouse kitchen listening to Camilla like her words were water, and he was dying from thirst in the middle of the desert. He almost missed her coming in. That was the first red flag she had ignored. She explained his behavior in trying to achieve his goal about the alliance as that was mostly a subject of their conversation since Cammila's Pack had much to offer as an ally. They spent half of the day there, and when they
Camilla was watching young Luna, who was almost boiling with anger. She was masking it quite well with her politeness, but it was obvious to the witch that they would never be friends. Not that she wanted that. Her main target was standing beside her, watching her with puppy eyes. His wife was just a little obstruction that had to be moved to make everything go smoothly.Alpha Sean was quick to offer her help.- Please come inside. The weather is terrible outside. What made you travel in such a condition? - He asked, taking her wet coat.- My father couldn't forgive himself that we had no more time to discuss the potential alliance. - Camilla accentuated the word ~ potential~ as she had already figured out how important it was for this Alpha, and he was ready to do anything to make it happen.- That is so thoughtful of him. - Luna replied.Camilla almost busted into laughter, hearing the young woman gritting her teeth while she said that.~ She had intuition. ~ The witch thought to he
Camilla unpacked her luggage, which was delivered to her room by some of the pack's omegas. She could still not believe how some of them had the audacity to look at her. The witch despised the whole werewolf kind, and the lowest rank meant less than dirt on her shoes. In her pack, they knew its place and would never dare to speak in her presence nor look at her. This place was savage. The omegas showed no respect to her, and Camilla promised to teach them a lesson as soon as she was in charge. They will pay a high price for disrespecting her.At least the room was decent, nothing like the one she was used to, but she was ready to bear with that for now. She hoped to get into Alpha's suite soon. When all her stuff was out, she reached into the hidden pocket in her suitcase, where she kept a tiny bottle. It was the same potion she had already applied to Sean's wine during his first visit. Camille prepared a dozen of tiny flasks, good enough for one application and easy to hide. All she
Katherine stood at the top of the stairs, looking at the scene downstairs. She woke up not long ago and decided to have a glass of water. Sean had not returned to their room yet. He was probably still working in his office. As there was no need to bother him, she decided to go and have a drink. It wouldn't be the first time he spent most of the night working. Katherine took her nightrobe and left their bedroom. She reached the stairs when some sounds came to her ears, but it didn't faze her, as someone was probably not sleeping, just like her. Yet when she checked who was making those noises, her heart stopped for a minute. Down the hall, her husband sauntered with Camille, obviously very interested in whatever she had to say. Katherine's blood boiled as their ~quest~ was wearing a nightgown, which left almost nothing for imagination. But it had not made her mad. It was her husband's, her mate's sight, sliding over Camille's body without shame. He was eating her with his eyes. -
Katherine kept her distance in case that would be a trap. It wouldn't be a first for vampires to attack wolves, and she was a perfect target, as there was no other wolf with her.She was watching the man on the ground, but there were no signs of movement. There was also no more vampire scent in the air than his own. And blood. Not a human or werewolf, but a vampire. It looked like he was wounded.~ Should we check on him?~ Katherine asked Lucy.~ Are you seriously asking me that? The good vampire is a dead vampire. There is no need to change it. ~ Her wolf had a firm opinion. It was very accurate. Vampires and werewolves never get along. It was going on forever.Unfortunately, both species fought against each other in the past, and it didn't help at all.Yet, Katherine still felt sorry for the man on the ground.~ I need to shift and take a look at him.~ The Luna finally decided.~ Have you lost your mind?- Lucy growled in her mind.~ I can't just stand here and watch him die. ~ Kathe
Katherine was so shocked that she forgot how to breathe for a minute. How come this vampire knew her biggest secrets and talked about this like it was nothing? The man in front of her slowly pulled himself to the sitting position, still not taking his eyes off her.- Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me. - He said, bringing her back to reality.- How did you know?- She whispered, but he just shrugged his arms.Katherine wasn't buying it. He couldn't just drop a bomb like that and keep it for himself.- Is it some royal thing? Secret gift?- She pressed harder on him.The vampire giggled with amusement. - You could say that. - The man replied and went silent again. His behavior was getting on her nerves.- I think you owe me some explanation. - Katherine pointed out.- I owe you much more, like my life, for example. - He said calmly.- Don't worry. I am not going to ask you to die for me. I am still more interested in how you knew my secret. - She said with a small smile, playing on
Marcus raised his head from the papers piled on his desk to look at his son, Greg. He was his heir and an immense pride. His firstborn was robust, courageous, and well-behaved. In the future, he will lead them to greatness. That is why he was chosen as an emissary to the witches' kingdom. It has been years since King Marcus tried to make peace with them. Witches were powerful, but all their power came from spells, charms, or potions. On the other hand, vampires were born with gifts that couldn't be taken from them. That was something that witches couldn't stand. That led to countless battles in the past.It was Greg's father's idea to end that finally. He firmly believed that peace between two species was possible. Now, it was time to find out how the meeting went. - So? How was it?- He asked, leaning back on his chair. - Are they willing to collaborate with us?- Their Mother tried everything to make me believe we were on the same page. But we are not even in that same book.- Gre
Katherine was looking at the scene in front of her. One of the omegas was kneeling on the floor, trying to pick up shattered glass, which probably was a bottle of wine. Her hands were shaking when she tried to grab tiny pieces of glass. Hovering over her was Camille, wearing a fancy dress entirely ruined by spilled wine. In other circumstances, Luna would feel great satisfaction seeing this, but now her blood was boiling as one of her pack members was mistreated.- Let me ask again. What the hell are you doing?- She asked, looking at Camille with hatred in her eyes. If this woman was stepping on her toes, Katherine was okay with that, but what she wouldn't tolerate was abusing her people. Camille offered a similar look before talking. - If you haven't noticed, your clumsy omega dropped the bottle and spilled wine all over my dress. It is ruined.- She said slowly. - This omega has a name.- Luna gritted her teeth. Then she turned her attention to the young girl who was still busy cle
