My current name is Sophia Turner, you might wonder why these days, well, I've had a lot of names and all that just to survive my past and not let it catch up with me, I'd rather die than go back to the way I was.
Today I am a nurse at Gillian's Memorial Hospital, I have few friends, but these are very dear to me and are the only ones who know my story.
I am a beautiful woman, today I see it, my short hair is dyed an intense red, a color that highlights my greenish eyes, with bluish lines, many say they look like cats' eyes. My nose is thin and so are the general lines of my face, yes I've had plastic surgery and I don't mind saying that. This new face is who I am, who I was born to be: A grown woman, independent, with likes and dislikes, with strong opinions and who doesn't take shit home.
I'm 1.72 m tall and I don't wear high heels, after all, spending 12 to 48 hours on my feet isn't for everyone and even less should be done in heels, but the good thing is that I manage to stay a while bigger in high heels without complaining.
At the hospital I only wear what is necessary, the light blue uniform, with hair tied back in a net, nails always short, without nail polish, but cuticles always well-groomed and without makeup or perfume. After all, fingernails can pierce gloves, makeup can fall on top of a wound and become infected, and some patients can be allergic to perfumes.
My hobbies? They are as varied as the number of patients who enter the emergency room. I've played RPG, actually I still play when I have time, I love rock and classical music, I watch funny videos on TikTok and then read the news of the day, I'm still studying, I just wrote myself an article about special treatments in case of burns. Yes, I know I'm a nurse, but I like to stand out and I've been asked why I'm not a doctor, I simply answer: And when will I have time to study to be a doctor? Besides, I love being a nurse and I love trauma!
I'm not perfect, I have my flaws, but I don't hide them. I am diagnosed with bipolar disorder with depression and more currently hypomania, which means that I undergo psychological follow-up twice a week and once a month with the psychiatrist and no, I am not ashamed of that, I know the causes of my problems, but I don't I can change them, I'm just trying to accept them and move on with my life.
This, this is me, at least a very summarized part of who I am, I think so much is missing.
“Hey! Soph!”
“Soophhh!!”
“SOPHIA TURNER!”
I turned my head to the side and saw my friend, Luciana O'Conner, she has blonde hair, brown eyes and a body that makes many people jealous.
“You were on the moon again!”
I smiled and rolled my eyes.
“You know, I love to ramble!” I then looked around and saw the trauma light coming on and jumped up.
"Excellent! Now it's back to Earth!" Luciana's laughter echoed and a few heads turned towards us.
"C'mon C'mon! In 10 minutes the ambulances and firefighters and police arrive!”
I shouted to the group of nurses and nurses who were there, I already had the tablet with the information application in hand.
Working at Gillian's meant having access to the best technology to work with, we were the number one trauma hospital in the United States. The report indicated that three people were arriving with multiple cuts and bullet holes, they had already lost a lot of blood, I sent the request to the blood bank, requesting O+ and O-, while looking at the operating rooms and already asking them to reserve three . Well, that's not the exact role of a nurse, but I was the head nurse in that sector. I texted the head of trauma who was on duty today, Doctor Victor Benedict, one of the best in the country.
Soon I was in the waiting room, while the medical team was waiting outside, there were others who were less injured and who were also about to arrive, I separated the team according to their strengths and weaknesses, the beds were already made, all that was left was to wait for them to arrive.
“Come on guys, it looks like we have an assassination attempt that didn't work out and many of those that will arrive are what we call collateral damage, all that are not cases of surgery will be taken care of by us and the resident doctors” I pointed to the doctors who would stay there with us. “We are the number one hospital and our loss rate is very low and I don't want that rate to increase precisely on my shift! So let's get to work and obviously, after the shift, if there are no incidents, John's bar will have two paid rounds for everyone on this shift! So don't let me down!"
I heard the scream of joy from most of those there, of course there were some who didn't like to drink, so I completed it.
“For those who don't like to drink, next shift I'll bring my famous brigadeiro cake!”
I smiled seeing them get happy too and as soon as I finished my speech the emergency door opened and people started to arrive.
Time passed quickly while all the wounded were attended to, it didn't take more than five minutes for someone to call me and ask me for permission, or ask me something and then I saw my 24 hour shift almost over.
“Sophia!”
I heard my name called as I was walking to clock in and go change. I turned to see Doctor Miriam Davis approaching, she was the head physician of the hospital.
“I know it's been a long shift, but I'm going to ask you to stay for at least a few more hours. The Heroux family specifically asked for you to take care of the floor they are on.”
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, leaning against the wall.
“That shift was full, I hardly stopped to rest.” Honestly, I needed at least a few hours of sleep. “I'm already awake for 24 hours, I need at least 3 hours of sleep. You know…"
“I know, that's what I answered them. You can sleep in one of the rooms, I'll have them call you in four hours if there's no emergency."
I felt Miriam's hand on my shoulder and I opened my eyes again and smirked.
“Okay, I’ll just stop by to check on everything and then I’ll go to sleep.”
I let go of the wall and started walking to the 42nd floor, passing by one of the reception desks and took one of the tablets, entered my password into the system and went to look at the rotation of people on the indicated floor.
I smirked ironically, they had booked the entire floor just for their family and friends, upon entering the floor I saw that the last name really did justice to those who were there.
There were several men and women along the corridors, standing beside the entrance doors, wearing black suits or black military uniforms.
“Army of Wolves.”
I whispered and rolled my eyes and started walking to the reception of the floor, I realized that some eyes turned towards me, probably they had heard my whisper. People trained like this are used to noticing things around them, so I wasn't surprised by that.
“Hey Julie, I need you to make these modifications.”
I passed it on to the woman at the front desk, she was one of my closest friends.
"Clear!"
Her voice was a little thinner and some would even say irritating, but I had gotten used to it by now.
“Soph! Thank God!"
I heard a male voice speak a little louder and I turned my head in her direction. Joshua Gregory was there, probably the doctor in charge now. He has short, spiky black hair, he's wearing the light gray lab coat over his suit, his body isn't as muscular as the guards who were there, but he was shapely, like a model. I know he spends a few hours a day at the gym.
“Joshua, if I had known it was you here, I would have denied the request!”
I replied in a joking tone and then hugged him and kissed him on the cheek.
“Or it would have come faster!”
I rolled my eyes and smirked.
“At the very least I would have come just because of the 42.” He continued and I yawned.
"Of course, after all it is the answer to the meaning of life, the universe and everything else."
I answered and started walking towards the elevator again.
"I've already asked for some modifications to the floor staff and put in some treatment suggestions." I handed the tablet to him.
"Bom they are!"
I heard some people talking to me and I waved at them.
Sophia POVI woke up with the noise of the alarm clock and yawned, looked at the time and it was time to go back to work. Apparently nothing had happened while I was sleeping. I got up, took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, did my business, then changed into a clean new uniform, fixed my badge and left the room.Soon I'm on the 42nd floor, the first thing I noticed is that some guards had changed shifts, as well as the doctor in charge. I arched an eyebrow at the updates next to the tablet I picked up at reception.“Hey Julie, good morning.” I greeted my friend.“Hi Soph, glad you’re back.” I heard her speak, relieved."Something happened?" I got tense, but I didn't take my eyes off the tablet, going through the information on each patient, it seemed that the majority that were there had not yet been released, it was because there was a trace of silver in the organism.“These people, you know…” Julie spoke in a low tone and I took a deep breath. They were the kind of people I hated,
Sophia POVI woke up again with the sound of the alarm and went to take my medicine, wash my face, prepare coffee and something to eat. I did everything I had to do before leaving my apartment and going to the hospital, I had turned off my cell phone just so I wouldn't know what was going on, it was something I always did, doctor's orders, because after my shift I had to rest and not be overwhelmed thinking about work when I wasn't working.I greeted people as I went to the locker room and put on my uniform, clocked in and went to reception to get my tablet. Apparently I was still working and in my role, but I was still assigned to the 42nd floor, but as a consultant and not responsible, was this his way of apologizing? Well, it wouldn't work.I started my shift normally, passing by the trauma ward, talking to everyone and even attending to some cases, when I realized it was lunch time and I went to the cafeteria, took what I wanted and sat down immediately.I started replying to mess
Sophia POVI entered the 42nd floor again, most of the rooms had already been released, leaving only those 3 occupied. I entered Andreas' room first and saw him already sitting on the bed, with his wife by his side and the woman who was previously in Perseus' room, was now there too.“Good afternoon Mr Andreas Lykaios, I see you are feeling very well.” I said smiling slightly, I approached, grabbed the glove on the side table and started checking the information and the bandages.“Yes, I am, this hospital really lives up to the awards it has won.”I looked first at what was in the center of his chest, seeing that there was no more blood and it also looked well healed.“We are the number one hospital in the country, it is obvious that our staff would be one of the best equipped.”I answered calmly, finished the checks."Hahahaha, well I was told you were very serious."I smirked, a little ironically.“Only with those who deserve it and make remarks as if he were a god in person.” I ans
Sophia POVI entered the room and saw that the machinery for the procedure was already there, as well as Miriam and Claire, I went to help them and it didn't take long until everything was ready to start the process."Couldn't make the request, didn't see Lord Hyperion today." Miriam communicated to me.“Well, I’ll be here anyway.” I went to the seat next to me. “If you could ask someone to bring my note, I would appreciate it.”"Clear. If you see him, you can ask permission yourself. I am going home."“Thanks, Mi, good sleep.”“Hey, Soph… Take care, okay?”"All good."I found that end of the conversation strange, as I saw the two leave the room. I took my phone and started looking at the videos on TikTok, it didn't take 10 minutes and I could feel Hiperion's presence at the door, don't ask me how I know, I just know that I know.“Good evening, Miss Sophia.”I looked up at the man, head of the family."Goodnight. It should take around 5 hours to complete this procedure.”“I just ran i
Sophia POVThe hours went by very quickly, between one play and another I looked at Perseus' information and wrote it down next to the tablet and also held myself back from screaming. There were many critics, both positive and negative and the crowd had fun, but as I expected, the crowd betrayed me and my character ended up dead. Hiperion asked me some questions about the rules and the history of the characters, but nothing that interfered with the game.It was interesting to see a man like that interested in something like that, but well, let's face it, there are many wealthy and powerful people who gamble, actors and actresses in Hollywood.“You do know that the next campaign is mine and that it will be Cthulhu!” Warned.“Er… I think we have to go to sleep. Goodbye!" vicEveryone else nodded and then got off the call, I rolled my eyes and let out a low chuckle.“Actually, this is really fun. You guys really get into the characters.”“Well, that is the intention.” I put the laptop on
Sophia POVI woke up feeling my body throbbing a little, an uncomfortable pain, but not unbearable. I looked around seeing that I was in one of the break rooms, the light was off, but I could still see something by the light coming through the window curtain and the light under the door.My purse was there on the side, on top of the bedside table, I opened it and took my cell phone. It was already 5 pm, I had slept for 14 hours, almost a record, but adding the tiredness of the shifts and everything that had happened, maybe I had little sleep. I saw Mirian's notification asking me to go see her when she woke up. I got up and stretched, grabbed my purse, went to the bathroom, washed my face and brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and finally saw my face as I am, tidy and rested. Smile in the corner."Everything will be fine…"I told myself, I took my medicine and deodorant and finally left the room. I know I need to take a shower, but that was enough for now until I got home. I greeted pe
Sophia POVI was one of the last to get on the helicopter, my mood right now is not one of the best, but that didn't mean I would be rude and I greeted everyone briefly with a nod and then I took the tablet to do the last checks.Basically the Houroux family had brought in their own doctor to supervise the transport and also check all the information.Too much ego fighting for my taste, the doctors at the hospital thinking it was absurd to be supervised by an outsider, while the family doctor started pointing out mistakes that weren't mistakes at all, as he seemed to have information about the physical condition that we didn't. we had access. To avoid a confrontation I just went to my house, packed a small suitcase, when I got back the chaos was almost over as it was time to leave. My date with Joshua wasn't the best thing about my day either and in the end we ended up wrapping up something that hadn't even started to get serious. When Dr. John Ioannidis started to say something about
Sophia POVAlexander spoke and started walking toward a corridor that was on the right side, I followed him unhurriedly, with my hands in my pockets. We stopped in front of room 803, he took a card from his pocket, opened the door and handed me the card.I went into my room, it was quite large, almost the size of my living room, the whole room was decorated in glass and black wood supports, while the floor had a light gray marble and under the king size bed there was a rug in darker grey. With minimalist and modern touches, were the other rooms the same? Because it looked like that place had been decorated for me, the colors were what I liked the most and I didn't like anything fancy. To say that I liked my room was an understatement, I was loving it. On the left side there were two doors, probably one for the closet and one for the bathroom.“Thank you, you are excused.”I told him and turned to watch him leave."Sophia... It's not that I..." I noticed that Alexander was watching me
Sophia POVDespite his charged and imposing aura, I did not bow, for doing so would mean being afraid… I did just the opposite, I looked into his yellow, almost golden eyes, and whatever happens from now on, I cannot be afraid, for that could bring agony and reveal many secrets.“My name is Azrik Ragnharsen, I am the Elder of the Dragons and Judge of the Council of Races.” The voice of this man is hoarse, low, and has a different timbre than I have ever heard, it even has a strange sophisticated touch. “And you, despite your appearance, you don't seem like an innocent and fearful girl, as I was led to believe.”“That girl was called Naomi Blanchet… I am Sophia Turner, the head nurse at Gillian's Memorial… The Beta of the Moon Warriors pack and the woman who killed some of her enemies point-blank.” I spoke with determination, still holding my head high.It is difficult to identify the emotions on that man's face, but I managed to perceive a slight expression of pride.“Are you in your
Sophia POVThe witch looked me up and down, evaluating me, and I know she is trying to read my soul, but I am too complex for that to be easy. In this incarnation, I am just a human, which makes it even more difficult to discover my true identity as a Chimera. Her penetrating gaze seemed to scrutinize every layer of my existence, trying to find some hidden clue, something that would reveal what I really am. But she wouldn't be able to. I spent years hiding, rebuilding who I am, and it wouldn't be that simple to unravel me.“You have a very strong magic in your body.” The witch informed me, her voice filled with a certainty that made me shiver. “When you underwent the recovery surgeries, an entire coven cast a very strong spell so that you would not be found or even recognized by Ivar Volkheim… But, with Gáta's help, that spell weakened, and he managed to find you.”Shangō Furen declared, and I noticed in her expression that she was impressed by the situation. If even a powerful witch
Sophia POVThe woman had long silver hair that seemed to float, as if there was a breeze. Her eyes, glowing like blue embers, carried a weight I had never seen before, as if she were very ancient, as if she had witnessed entire eras rise and fall. Her face was sculpted with refined features, beautiful and impenetrable, but her expression was a confusing mix of emotions: anger, sadness, shock, and some others I couldn't identify, something deep and immortal, as if her soul carried scars that time couldn't erase. Her black robes flowed around her slender body, adorned with golden embroidery that sparkled in the light, like lightning illuminating details in a stormy sky. There was something mesmerizing about the way the fabric moved, as if it were alive, responding to the energy that vibrated in the air around her. In her steady hands, a staff shimmered with bluish sparks, small lightning bolts snaking its surface like living creatures, pulsing with ancient magic. But even with so much p
Sophia POVMy eyes blinked repeatedly as a wave of pain coursed through my body, as if sharp blades were piercing my skin without mercy. However, the worst pain was in my head. Fragments of disconnected memories mixed, strange names echoed in my mind, forming a chaotic whirlwind of thoughts. With great effort, I forced myself to get up. My body protested with every movement, but I knew I couldn't afford to stay still. Time wouldn't wait for me, and neither would he. I should have already prepared breakfast, and the punishment for my failure would come, inevitably. However, if lunch was perfect, maybe he would show some clemency. Maybe the pain would be less.I dragged myself to the closet, each step a reminder of my fragile state. I chose a white dress with long sleeves, the fabric covering every inch of my marked skin. The neckline was modest, and the skirt extended to my feet. I made sure to arrange my hair in a side braid, resting over my right shoulder, exactly as he had taught me
Hélios POVThe witch's suggestion makes sense, but it means that everyone would see the curse inside Sophia, and there are several possibilities for how this meeting could end. Among the most likely, two stand out: the first would be the execution of Sophia as soon as they perceived the presence of the curse; the second, that some would fight against the curse to try to save her. However, neither of these options brought any guarantee of success or safety for her.My thoughts were in chaos. Sophia had already suffered enough, and the idea that her life was still at risk made me uneasy. I looked at Khalid, as among us, he always had extensive knowledge and a much better way of expressing himself than I did. Maybe he had a strategy to get us out of this complex and potentially deadly situation for Sophia.“Indeed, Lady Shangō Furen's suggestion makes perfect sense.” Khalid finally spoke, his voice filled with consideration.I was surprised, as I was sure he had also come to the same con
Achilles POVI understand Hélios's anger and Khalid's reasons... Both are right in their views, and Khalid is not wrong in saying that we failed as a pack, not only that, we failed to protect our Fated.I watched as the greenish energy transferred to the pen drive and held my breath, as Azrik showed no sign of noticing the strange energy, but he began to work on the laptop without any issues, and the energy dissipated after a few minutes."I do see several pieces of evidence here that Naomi, or Sophia, was not kidnapped." Azrik said, lifting his face from the laptop. His eyes sought Ivar's, who stood his ground."Who abandoned Naomi, I'll call her that for now, injured and almost at death's door?" Azrik asked."We don't know." Gáta answered. "Things are confusing, even the Bond of Fate is strange and fragile."Gáta made a motion with her hand, and then two red lines appeared, one on my wrist and one on Ivar's... Mine was dimmer, weaker, while Ivar's was brittle and emitting small spar
Khalid POV"If all the evidence is true, then the Black Moon pack will be punished." Azrik said, looking at Ivar in an intimidating way, which made the alpha shrink. "But there is another question, why bring these truths to light only now? You stayed with the Moon Warriors pack for a long time, helping them... Why didn't you tell them about these revelations?"I looked at Hélios, as this is a question he might be asking himself, his anger is contained, but I know he can kill me if he wishes."Because it wasn't my job to do the work of the Alpha and Gamma of the pack." I answered truthfully. "It's not my role to find the culprits of the attacks... If the pack can't do that, then it's the pack's failure, not mine. I never hid the information, and just like I found it, they could have found it if they had looked properly."I see Hélios clench his fists along his body, I don't blame him for that, but I won't sugarcoat my words, he needed to know the raw truth. They had failed in that, and
Achilles POV"Achilles, calm down, pacing back and forth won't help." Khalid said.I rolled my eyes; the meeting is very important, and I simply can't stay still. I know a lot depends on the council accepting our request. It will be very difficult to prove that we didn't kidnap Sophia, but I'm sure that if we can make the council force Ivar to bring Sophia to the council, then we'll have a chance.I felt my energy being drained less than two hours ago, which indicates that Sophia is still conscious and her memory hasn't been completely altered."We will bring Sophia back." Hélios said determinedly."I know..." I whispered and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath.I heard two knocks on the door and opened my eyes, and soon after Hyperion entered."They are ready." Hyperion said.I looked at Khalid, Hélios, and Alex; everyone here is in favor of going to the last resort, even if it means declaring war against everyone. The walk down the hallway was quick, and during that time, I used my
Sophia POVI blinked a few times, feeling my whole body aching, not just my chest, something is very strange, very different… The air around me is not the same as I am used to.Finally, I managed to focus my gaze and came face to face with a very familiar ceiling, a light gray tone, with a small chandelier with golden details. I turned my head and came face to face with the dark wood desk and sat on the bed, my heart racing.I couldn't have come back to this cursed place, how was this happening? I know this room very well, as it is the same room where I suffered various abuses, from physical and mental tortures to rape…I looked down and saw that I was wearing a silver nightgown, my hair reaching my breasts, in a platinum blonde tone, almost white… The tone he loved, always saying he was in love with it and that I should never cut or dye my hair.I widened my eyes, seeing the various reddish scars on my arms, I was sure they should have already healed!‘Heavens, what is happening?’ I
