“If I am not prying, may I ask why you are going to the hospital?” Chris who was feeling suffocated due to the silence inside the car, finally spoke trying to liven the atmosphere inside the car. ‘You are definitely already prying when you said this!’ Roy commented inside his heart. He would have loved to shout it to the man but he refrained from doing so since his boss had asked him to be polite and kind to this fucking piece of shit. “I am going to meet my wife,” Levian answered in a professional manner but he did not forget to emphasize the wifey part. No one had expected him to answer, however, Levian was more than happy to keep him company and to Roy’s surprise, he answered the question happily. “What really?” Roy was the one to get shocked at this news. Weren’t they going to meet the doctor called as Sherry Lona to do some business deals? ‘Follow the script stupid.’ Levian gestured with his eyes.
“Hey..” A young nurse who was carrying files and walking to the records room elbowed her friend who was busy munching on her chips.“W-what? Don’t disturb me..I am eating right now.” The other girl shrugged off her shoulder and focused on her chips. Since they had been busy all day long, she was starving.Right now, nothing else was important than the food that was going inside her mouth.“Dummy, you are going it regret if you do not look right now.” The young nurse poked her in her stomach and snatched the bag of potato chips from her hand.“Hey, give it ba…..” Her voice trailed off before she could even finish her sentence. Seeing the speechless face of her friend, the first nurse gave a smirk.“See I told you.” She squealed like a high school girl and clasped the files on her chest in excitement while her friend was in the continued state of awe.“Isn&rsq
Di Di Di DiHearing the ringing of the phone, Sherry who was about to doze off on the couch was startled awake. Wiping away the thin layer of sweat on her forehead, she looked at the telephone on her walking table. She stood up from the couch in a swift motion and went to grab the telephone.“Dr. Sherry speaking.” She picked up the phone and responded to the call in a calm tone.It was calm to the extent of sending chills down the spine of the staff lady who was on the other side of the phone.“Umm, so-rry for disturbing your rest Dr. Sherry.” The staff stuttered a little and shot a piercing glance at Levian who despite seeing it just acted innocent and harmless. The staff lady: “…..” This is all clearly for you!!“Yes, I am listening.” Sherry answered back when no one spoke from the other side.“Huh..Ohh.” She exclaimed and turned her attention to the cal
“Please come in.” Sherry put on her mask and doctor apron as soon as she heard the knock on her door. She stood up from the chair she was sitting on and went to the patient counseling desk to wait on the patient. She never usually took patients in her row office until they were extremely VIP patients or extremely injured patients who needed her help as soon as possible.“But who could it be?” She was also curious about this sudden patient. But honestly speaking, she was really thankful for this new patient who came as her saving grace. She did not want to go home today since her uncle and aunt were waiting there for her. As for her own apartment, she did not want to go there as well since she did not want to be alone today.Staying in the hospital was her only escape route at the moment but it could never be her permanent solution. She had to think and act fast before she was harmed by her fiancé in other ways.
Chris finally snapped back to reality after he had reached the lobby of the hospital from the parking lot. Taking one last look at his hand which held the business card of Levian Smith, he gulped down the saliva that had been stuck on his throat all this time. He put the card inside his wallet with great care as if it was a big treasure. ‘I will need to pay visit to sir Levian and his wife with fruits and flowers,’ he smiled uncannily as he planned to make a good impression of himself on Levian Smith, the only guy who was powerful enough to help him if he really did mess up things. ‘If things do not go well with Sherry, I can….hehehe,’ “Excuse me sir,” a voice called out to him, drawing away his attention from his beautiful dream to the dull reality. His body shivered a little when a hand tapped on his shoulder out of nowhere. He quickly turned around and saw an old lady with a mop looking at him. ‘It’s the janitor lady,’ he fr
“Wait, I forgot something,” Sherry said as she stopped walking. Both Levian and Roy looked at the doctor in surprise.“Is something the matter?” Roy asked real quickly.“Noo no, umm…I need to sign the record real quick,” she explained herself politely to both the strangers who had become not so stranger after talking with them for a bit.“Sure, you can take your time,” Levian said as she opened his arm. He wanted her to fell that she was not being forced or compelled to comply with him. She was she and her choices and life came before anything.“We will be waiting in the parking lot,” he said with a smile as he gestured towards Roy to start walking.“Miss, we will see you later,” he said while giving her a courtesy bow.Sherry nodded her head at both of them and swiftly turned around. She sprinted towards the lobby where the records were kept. Although she h
“Thank you for waiting,” a tired voice called out to the two men who were talking in the parking lot.“Mr. Smith,” Sherry forced a smile as she gazed at Levian who was standing as he waited for her. She looked at Roy and also managed to smile at him with a slight bow.Levian said nothing as he moved his gaze all over her face as if searching for something. Seeing that she was fine, he finally exhaled out a sigh of relief. He had been worried sick about her going back there on her own.He had seen Chris, that hateful man loitering around the reception area from the corner of his eyes when they were returning from her office. He would have loved to stop her from going but he did not want to interfere in her own personal matters. It was hot in the parking lot even though it was already evening. Sherry lifted up all the loose strands of her hair from around her neck and twisted them around her bun which was already getting messy.
Chapter 29“Aunty! I am back,” Sherry called out cheerfully as she pushed open the door of the house. The day had been tiring and now, she was craving the warm soup made by the old aunt. Thinking about the taste of the spices in the soup made her heart warm from within.Despite the unease she was feeling inside her heart, she held onto the small thread of hope and warmth.‘Why are all the lights off? I think uncle and aunt are not back yet,’ she thought as she took out her phone. Turning on the flashlight she made her way to the switch wall to turn on the lights.Click! The switch produced clicking sound which was accompanied by the bright light as the bulbs and tube lights glowed. Looking around she saw that everything looked the same as she had left behind. There was not even small change in the appearance of the room. Just as she was about to walk, her feet hit something on the floor. Curious, she looked down.
“Your Lordship.” Stephan knocked on the door from the outside as he waited for permission to enter the master bedroom. A few seconds passed with no reply.“Your Lordship?” He called him again, a little louder this time. After what felt like an eternity, he heard the lock click open from the inside. As the door swung open, he immediately fixed his posture, standing straight in an attentive position. “He’s still sleeping,” a woman in a loosely fitted silk nightgown said as she walked out, her dark hair falling over her shoulders and a lazy smile playing on her lips. She paused in front of Stephan, her siren-like eyes studying him. “You see,” she winked at him flirtily, “he needs to rest.” Her hand reached out to his neck before resting on his collar. “I can give you company until he wakes up,” she added with a seductive smile, but he didn’t react, maintaining his composed demeanor.“Tsk, boring!” she huffed, rolling her eyes before walking away and stepping into the lift to return
“You–you look,” Levian stuttered playfully as Sherry walked inside the room. Putting down the phone he was holding, he rose to his feet, waiting for Sherry to walk up to him.“Look what?” Sherry asked, suppressing the laughter that was about to escape her lips. Standing next to him, she gently tugged at the fake beard on his face. “This feels so real.”Levian helplessly sighed as he caught hold of her hands and pulled them away from his face. “You look beautiful,” Levian chuckled as he pressed his lips on the back of her palm. “Despite this, well, unconventional look.”After staring at her for a while, he added, “Pink suits you a lot.”“Oh really?” Sherry giggled. “You don’t look bad either,” Sherry added, gently patting him on his shoulder. “Just a tad bit older.”Roy scrunched his nose in disgust at the couple. They still had time to flirt around at a time like this.Apart from the fake beard and slicked-back hair that had streaks of gray, the prosthetics added sagging cheeks to Lev
“Sorry about what happened today,” Sherry apologized as she leaned back in her seat. She exhaled a pent-up sigh as she covered her face in her palm. She knew how important this party was for Levian. “It was not your fault, so don’t apologize!” Levian spoke in a low voice, suppressing his anger because he did not want to scare her anymore. Just thinking about how that bastard tried to misbehave with his wife made his blood boil in anger. “I should have never left you alone,” the words grated out of his mouth as he tightly gripped the wheel. “That son of a bitch!” If not for Sherry holding him back, he would have ripped off that little prick’s dick right there and thrown it to the street dogs to feed on.Even though he'd had a bit of wine, Levian was more clear-headed than ever. While Roy went to get the CCTV footage from the security team, Levian kept his eyes on Vincent. In the meantime, Sherry briefly mentioned how she met Vincent on the balcony and what went between them. When Roy
‘Vincent Troy?’ Sherry’s expression darkened almost immediately the moment she looked at him. ‘What is he doing here? Did he follow me?’ She tightly gripped her wine glass as she sidestepped away from the railings of the balcony while making sure her gaze not once left Vincent’s. Maintaining a calm face, she smiled at Vincent, “What a pleasant surprise, Mr. Vincent.” After making sure she was in a safe space she added, “I never thought I would see you after that day in the court.”“Fuck!” Vincent swore under his breath when he was reminded of how humiliatingly Sarah got divorced from him. Glaring at Sherry, he barked at her. “Watch what you say bitch!” The divorce trial in the court made him the laughingstock of the town. Along with his wife, he lost every asset he had in his name and was even disowned by his parents. As if sprinkling salt all over his wound, his father let him have the company that was on the verge of bankruptcy.Running his hands over his hair, he chuckled dangero
When the elderly ladies heard footsteps approaching, they stopped chatting and drinking. They tried to behave as casually as possible when they spotted Sherry walking towards their seating area with Madam Jasmine, even though they had been staring at her since she entered the dinner hall, acting surprised when she took a seat next to them. “Hello, ladies,” Sherry greeted everyone with a polite smile as she took one of the available seats. Madam Jasmine sat beside her and gestured to a waiter to bring over a drink for the new guest. By the time the waiter returned with the drinks, the group of ladies had finished introducing themselves. “Sorry, I don’t really drink,” Sherry quickly rejected the offer when a waiter approached her with a tray of wines. “I am not much of a drinker.” Her alcohol tolerance was notoriously low as she avoided drinking since she had to spend most of her time operating on patients. One of the ladies, Maisel, chuckled as she sipped her wine, "Don't be such a
Fleets of cars drove into the premises of Emerald City Banquet, where Victor Khas was hosting his party. The Banquet was lit with LED and fairy lights and decorated with flowers and sash wherever necessary. While the rest of the city prepared to retire for the night, the guests attending this exclusive event were just getting started. Unlike parties with stars from the entertainment industry, this was a private gathering for the city's leading businessmen and politicians. Therefore, maximum security had been arranged to ensure no paparazzi could enter, except for the designated photographers.Around 10 p.m., Levian and Sherry arrived at the banquet in a Rolls Royce driven by Roy. They were neither late, nor too early, and Levian loved this aspect of social gatherings like these. After all, it was all about making connections. The earlier you arrived, the more people you could meet and vice-versa. From that perspective, it made no sense for them to arrive earlier than necessary. By no
"Nice shot!" Levian clapped as Sherry hit the target dead center. Standing up, he walked over to her just as she was removing her headphones. She placed the gun on the counter and waited for him to approach.“I’ve improved a lot, haven’t I?” Sherry asked with a bright grin as Levian wrapped her in a hug. Pulling back, he chuckled before hugging her again. “Yep, you’re amazing.” And he wasn’t just saying that to make her feel better. Her precision was godlike. Now that she could handle the recoils of the gun, she could easily hit the target. Her focus was one-of-a-kind. Considering how she was the best neurosurgeon in the country, it pretty much made sense. She got better at handling guns than most of his men did and it had just been a week since they started!“Also, there was a call from Grandpa,” Levian said as they were preparing to leave the shooting range. “It seems Mr. Victor Khas is getting discharged today.” Sherry gave a light hum in response. It was better for him to recupera
“Whatever happened to strength training?” Sherry asked as she eyed the gun in her hand. She had expected wrestling or boxing training. Shooting practice was the farthest thing from her imagination. Levian chuckled. “This is better than wrestling,” he said as a man handed him a gun. He gave a light nod to the man. The men in black suits all left, leaving Sherry and Levian alone in the firing range. Pointing to a pair of headphones, he said, “Put them on, you will need them.” Sherry followed his instructions and fixed it around her head. Levian wasn’t wearing anything, but that was expected. He was used to this. When was the first time he learned to shoot? Sherry wondered as she watched him walk inside the booth and raise his gun, his attention all focused on the target in front of him. Bang! Bang! Bang!Levian fired three consecutive bullets, each hitting the pivotal area of the target–the forehead, the heart, and the lungs, while the third bullet lodged itself on the kneecap of the
“What were you talking about with Grandpa?” Levian asked as Sherry entered their room. After dinner, he had excused himself to his room as he was a bit occupied with his company’s work. He was seated behind a desk, working on his laptop after finishing dinner.“Just normal chit chat you know,” said Sherry as she sat down on the bed. Exhaling deeply, she threw herself on the bed, turning her head to look at Levian.Sherry noticed he hadn’t changed his dress. He was still wearing a white shirt, the one he had worn that morning. He had unbuttoned some of the topmost buttons, revealing his clavicle. Sherry gulped as she noticed the veins on his forearms that peeked out from under his messily rolled-up sleeves. “Mr. Smith,” Sherry spoke in a soft voice. “Are you trying to seduce me again?”“Seduce?” Levian raised his eyebrows, quickly faking a frown, “Looks like I need to teach you its real meaning.”Turning around in the chair, he gestured for her to come forward with one hand, while the
