Chapter 128: I am his victim too
Elsie watched the fleeing figure, feeling a whirlwind of emotions. One of the servants came by, holding up a tray of shots.
"Ma'am, do you want a glass?" the servant, Naina, asked, her voice laced with pity as she stared at Elsie.
Elsie felt like she had been kicked in the stomach. She knew this woman had been drugging her for the past years, which made her stomach flip with resentment.
Slowly, Elsie shook her head. "No, Naina," she replied, her voice calm.
The girl grew flustered, rubbing the back of her neck nervously as she searched for a different strategy. "Ma'am, the house has been quiet. Is there a problem between you and President Scott?"
Chapter 129: I have my ways. In the jail visitation room, Dahlia met with her lawyer, Sylvester Peters. They sat across from each other, Sylvester clad in a grey suit and Dahlia in a green free dress. "What are you saying?" Dahlia asked, her voice laced with concern. "I'm sorry, Dahlia, but the judge denied your bail for the second time." Sylvester said, his voice somber. "We can plead--" "Isn't that because of the Scotts? Are they using their power?" Dahlia's voice was laced with bitterness as she interrupted him. "Well, the judge and Aiden Scott attended the same university, and they are quite close. It could be..." Sylvester admitted, his voice small.
Chapter 130: Truly disgusting Sebastian stepped into the mini bar, his expression a mix of surprise and concern. "I was surprised to get your call. And worried too," he said, adjusting his white turtleneck and jeans as he took in Aiden's somber demeanor. Aiden remained silent, filling his glass with more wine, his white shirt unbuttoned at the top, revealing his broad chest. The tension in the room was palpable. After a moment, Sebastian could no longer bear the silence. "Oh, I see. Is this the silent treatment I have heard fondly of? If you aren't going to speak to me, then I should leave to wallow in your sorrows in peace." He shifted his weight, hands sinking into his pockets. "Wait," Aiden called out, frustration evident in his voice.&n
Chapter 131: You let a dangerous psychopath roam free Elsie's mind was reeling from the bombshell Loretta had just dropped. Aiden's life was in danger because of the malicious schemes of his own sister. She couldn't even begin to imagine the turmoil he must be feeling. She turned to Loretta, her eyes blazing with anger. "How could you do this to your own son?" Elsie was also a mother. She could imagine putting Eldon through all that because of the family name. What kind of mother was she? To let one child take the blame for another. April killed Lynn. April was the one driving. Elsie felt like her heart would explode from the pain she was experiencing. Loretta shrunk back, her expression wracke
Chapter 132: Not me, you. Slowly, Aiden released her, and she fell to the floor, bruising her knees. Hurt flashed across his eyes, but he didn't bother to throw her a worried glance. Instead, he picked up his phone and dialed 911. The operator on the other line began, her feminine voice calm and professional. "911, what is your emergency?" Aiden's eyes flicked to April, ensuring she couldn't escape from him. She was breathing hard, lying on the floor. He took a deep breath, his voice firm and resolute. "I am Aiden Scott, and my sister, April Scott, is armed in her apartment. She planned to kill my wife, and I want officers over at her place and here too." The operator's tone became perky, her interest piqued by Aiden's famous name. "What is the address?" Aiden provided both addresses, his tone unwavering. "Thank you. We'll be there shortly," the operator replied. April's skin grew pale at the mention of the police. She had never imagined Aiden would
Chapter 133: You need to hear this. At the scene, Aiden stumbled back, his head in his hands. He looked over to Elsie, who was whimpering at the corner. He approached her cautiously. Observing her silence, he cradled her face in his hands. Her beautiful caramel-colored eyes sparkled with unshed tears. He glimpsed the fear within them and asked in a low voice, "Are you scared?" Elsie chuckled softly. She had encountered numerous situations that failed to instill fear in her. She looked at him with significant meaning and muttered, "I'm not afraid of dying, Aiden. I'm only afraid of losing you and my son."Breaking the silence, Elsie shrugged "I hate to be this person, but your sister was a bitch. She can't deserve it." &
Chapter 134: You'll never know if you don't go find them Suddenly, there was a sharp knock at the door. Lifting her head from the paper, Elsie placed the letter on the bed, swung her legs off the bed, and headed towards the living room of her apartment. Her bare feet made soft slapping sounds on the floor as she moved. Slipping into her flip-flops, she rushed to the door and opened it. Aiden stood there, holding a nylon bag with a large McDonald's sign written on it. He flashed a charming smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. She waved at him, offering a kind smile in return. "You're here," she said, her voice laced with a hint of excitement. In truth, she had invited him over so they could read the letter together and maybe reduce the awkwardness that had become normal between them. The air was thick with unspoken words, and Elsie hoped that this moment would bring them closer together. "Hi, Elsie," Aiden replied, imitating her smile. He stepped into the house
Chapter 135; Promise me Two months later. On the day of Aiden's trial, after he had refused to file for bail, Elsie kept Eldon entertained by playing Legos when Aunt Rina walked in. The little lad ran to hug Rina, and she kissed him on the cheek. "Aunt Rina, where have you been? I've missed you," he exclaimed, his dimples creeping up as he smiled. Leaning in, she explained in a sweet voice, "I was busy, boy. But I'm back now..." Elsie, leaning against the counter in the kitchen, found their encounter very cute. She sometimes envied Eldon's relationship with Rina. A huge grin curled up on Eldon's lips, and he raised his arms, shouting out of ecstasy, "Yay, we'll all play together!" "We will," Rina confirmed, nodding her head. She reached out to touch the boy's cheek and pinched it fondly. "You should go to your room and wait for me there while I talk to your mom." The kid threw his arms up in happiness, spread them wide like wings, and ran out, making plane
Chapter 136: Prison Life Aiden's POV The courtroom had been filled with a sense of tension and anticipation. The judge, a middle-aged woman with a stern expression, sat at the bench. I stood before her, my eyes fixed on Elsie, who had been crying non-stop. The prosecutor stood opposite me, arms crossed. The judge announced, "After careful consideration of the evidence and the severity of the crime, I hereby sentence you to 7 years in prison for withholding information and obstruction of justice in relation to the double homicide case." My eyes had widened for a brief moment, but I accepted the sentence with a nod. I knew I deserved this punishment for my actions. The judge continued, "While I acknowledge your cooperation with the authorities and your expression o
