Chapter 5

I stopped in front of the lake near the village. It was breathtakingly beautiful.

I let out a bitter smile. I last saw this beautiful scenery when I sneakingly went out to meet Alex here. That's when we discovered how pretty it is during sunrise.

In my past life, Alex was so innocent and kind that he forgave me with my lies. He said he loved me because of who I am and he forgives me before breaking up with me because he has to leave going abroad. 

His family knew of my relationship with Alex so they decided for him to live far away from me. He doesn't want me to suffer so he decided to separate and I think that was the time I offered him my all.

He took my heart and soul away with him.

That time, I fell so deep that I wasn't able to get up.

I was crazy in love with him, they said when you are young in love, you are a fool.

And Yes, I was a big fool.

The past three days that I got to live here were bitterly happy.

I forced myself to act like I was before when I was young, Alex knowing me noticed a bit of change but he didn't mind, he said I looked much more mature and he likes it. I befriended all the people in the class and continued my facade.

I stayed for a bit before going back to the Orphanage, I used the back door and when I opened the door, I bumped in Madam Minchin, the strict supervisor of the orphanage. I greeted her.

'Where had you been?' She asked. 'I went out for an exercise Madam Minchin.' I answered with a soft voice and she nodded.

'Take a bath and help the kitchen for breakfast.' She said and I nodded.

I went back to my room to get my clothes and I saw the children are still asleep except for Becky who just opened her eyes.

'Good morning Becky.' I greeted.

'Morning Big sis Elisia. Is it time for breakfast?' She asked 

'Nearly, I'll just go and have a shower, you go be a good girl and wake up everyone for breakfast and get dress.' I said and she did what I told her.

Spending my second life here in the orphanage made care of it.

Before I was a loner who doesn't talk to anyone so I didn't care but seeing Becky makes my heart flutter. Maybe because I came to love children in my later life and they have a special connection and meaning to me.

Alex first noticed her in the welcoming ceremony.

She gives off an air of discomfort and distance.

She avoids everyone, She doesn't mingle with anyone.

Maybe that's why Alex wants to befriend her. He can't bear seeing anyone as secluded as her. He pestered her even though his friends find it weird.

They find her weird.

But his friends know his very nature and someone like Alex wants to get along with everyone.

It took quite a while for her to open up. They became good friends and she started talking. Alex knew Elisia as a person with loneliness deep inside her, maybe that's why something's telling him to get along with her.

It was a challenge for him to change such an emotionless face to a smiling one.

Alex smiled.

He started to find Elisia very cute especially when her face turns red when he teased her.

Her rare smile felt satisfying.

Her bashful reactions and cool attitude as he gets to know her. He was happy to get to know her.

Then after a year of being friends, it was finally their last year in high school. That's when he realized that Elisia liked him, everyone teased them because Elisia's reaction was so obvious. She avoided him and Alex doesn't want that. He realized he liked her too.

They started going out.

That day, Alex started to notice Elisia's odd behavior. She was always staring into space, even when the teacher is there, her mind seems elsewhere.

After that, she cut classes. It surprised him. It was the first time he saw her do that. He wanted to run after her but her expression looked like she wants to be alone so he waited for her.

He guarded the bag on the chair. Some of their classmates are going home. His friends came around to ask about Elisia and he just told them randomly that something might have happened to her house and needed time to think. They stayed with him to pass time while waiting for Elisia.

He walked Elisia home and unlike before, she was quiet, he asks her if something happened but she won't tell him. He tried to be understanding as not everything needs telling.

The next day, she was back on her feet. She was back being herself, he's glad to see her cheerful again. Spending time with her as usual, he found something changed. He cannot pinpoint but he noticed

Did she become more mature?

She's the same but why does he find her more mature? Is it because of the way she moves?

She seems more graceful and her posture is getting better.

As days passed, her face also looked more fresh and pretty.

Maybe because she kept her hair up?

It was not only him but everyone who noticed the small changes. It was just little changes but why did it make much difference.

Getting to know her day by day

Made him like her more and more.

Everything is the same except for that child. That child seems to change.

She noticed her going out early every day for exercise. She noticed her pretty little young face. The air around her seems to change. She looks brighter and different.

Ms. Minchin doesn't know why but she was tasked to keep an eye on that child. An order from above. It was rare that those people would care for a child, this has not happened before. That child must be special and she wanted to find out why.

She's just another disgusting child who was abandoned. She still remembers the day that child was brought in. She doesn't want to accept her because the child has a relative. This is an orphanage for christ's sake.

After a while, Ms. Minchin just turned her head sideways and the woman who brought the child, run as fast as she could. Like thieve escaping from the police, she flees as fast as the lightning.

The child cried for hours with no sign of stopping so she ordered the servant to drag her out.

After that, the child became just another mouth to feed.

No one wants to adopt her because she is useless. She doesn't talk or play.

She's just an emotionless child that knows nothing.

But then again, Ms. Minchin was beyond surprised when an order came from above came. The same child that she forgot was to go to St. Catherine's school. A very prestigious school where only a few and selected people can go to.

What's so special about this child that they want her? that they chose her to go there?

Ms. Minchin is itching to find out.
