CHAPTER THREE
A New World, A New Life Bree, after being thrown in the prison, sat up at one corner with her hands tightly wrapped around her. There were four others with Bree in the cell but she spoke to none of them as she was still finding it difficult to understand all that was going on. She couldn’t remember anything, she couldn’t tell who those people were and why they were treating her that way. She had been in the same position and not moving for hours until she began to feel a watery substance on her body, she looked up and that was when she saw a gigantic loop hole in the roof. She had been thrown into a roofless prison, and there was an heavy downpour outside. The gigantic loop hole in the roof paved way for the rain into the cell. Bree and others were beaten non stop by the ponderous rain. The cell was already starting to flood with water and other inmates stood up, expect Bree who was still lost in her deep thoughts. The thoughts of how she had gotten there, and why she was accused and thrown into the prison kept her unease. "Hey,” Chloe, who had also kept mute for a while and had been wondering why Bree was asking strange finally spoke when she saw that the level of the water had rapidly increased but Bree didn't notice it. There was no response from Bree. Chloe walked up to her and touched her, making her shake, she was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t realize what had been happening. "Well, there is a heavy downpour and I think you should stand up,” Chloe said, pointing at the flooded ground. "Oh!” Bree smiled softly at her and stood up. Chloe, who was still so confused at what happened to Bree and why she had been acting strange, gave her a weak smile and walked back to her position. Bree stood there, watching the rain drop down when she suddenly remembered something! When she was called a cursed slave and even when he explained what it meant to her, she still found it difficult to understand. Bree drew closer to Chloe and the inmates, eager to ask them questions to satisfy her curiosity, maybe that would make her remember things she had forgotten. "I need to ask you all a question,” she began but didn’t wait for their response before she continued, “Why was I called a cursed slave?” Bree asked. Chloe didn't miss the opportunity to spare her a glance, the reason Bree asked this wasn't certain to her and she kept wondering if the head injury she got while being tortured had affected her brain. Perhaps, that could be the only possible explanation to this sudden change. "Oh! also, can you remember the other word they called me out there?" she asked with a sober expression. "Omega slave,” Chloe chipped in. “Omega what? how am I…” "Look, you are an Omega slave and you have been cursed,” Emily, another inmate cut her off. “Be nice Emily.” Chloe murmured. "Why? who cursed me? why am I cursed? can it be reversed?" she asked. "Bree,” Chloe murmured, “You are cursed because you committed a grevious sin. That is why you were killed by gamma Rio." Bree creased her brows in total confusion, "Killed?" she muttered. "Yes,” that was Kim, the third inmate and the oldest of them all. "Are you trying to say I died and woke up again?" Bree asked with her face furrowed. "Yes!" they yelled in unison just before Bree bursted into laughter. "You've got to be kidding me. How do you expect me to believe I died and came back to life? Is this a movie to you?” she laughed it off. "That is exactly what happened Bree,” Emily answered. "The last thing I remember was begging for help because I was about to drown in the sea. I thought I would die as I didn't see anyone coming to my rescue and…." "And you need to snap out of your dream Bree,” Chloe shouted and moved closer to her, “This is reality Bree, this is your reality,” she added and shook her, hoping she would snap out of whatever dream she was in. “You are locked up in the dungeon, you are locked here with us and there is no way out,” Kim lashed out. "I'm not Bree!” Bree snapped, “Can't you all get that? my name is Avi not Bree, and I really don’t know all you people, why do you keep talking like you know me?” She yelled, she already had enough of them confusing her about everything, even her own identity. “I remember I used to work in a big company and on the fateful day that my whole life changed I had fallen into the sea,” she tried to explain this to them but they all stared at her in mismay and they all thought she was going nuts. She turned over to Chloe who in return looked away, nobody believed what she was saying and once again, she was lost in herself. It was strange but how could she be confused about her own identity? She didn't know what was happening anymore, she couldn’t tell where she was and what was happening. She fell to the floor and buried her face in her hands, who was she going to deal with this?. Night had come so quickly and they all settled down to sleep while Bree was left behind to figure out what had changed and who she was. *** It was very early in the morning when the guards came into the prison, they began to drag the slaves out of the prison and into the playground. Bree, who had been asleep, yawned lazily. She looked around and found out they were in the playground. "What are we doing here?" she gazed around. "Well, if you listened to what we said yesterday then you might have known today was the king's birthday,” Kim said "Oh! so are we here to clean it up? It looks tidy already,” she commented and they all hissed at her nervously. "To satisfy the king, we are going to play a game,” Emily responded "A game?" Bree asked, as she remembered that was the same place where she had woken up. “Yes Bree, we will have to fight for our life,” Chloe answered, “We are going to play a game where arrows will be shot at us, we have to dodge as many arrow as we can, if you are lucky, you might be alive till the game ends,” Chloe explained and Bree broke down in tears immediately. She didn’t sign of this, if she had known that this would be result of falling into the sea, she wouldn’t have done that. All these happened because of her fiancé who cheated on her, he lied to her. She couldn’t bear the pain, she decided to end her life but that was the worse decision of her life. Tears tickled down Bree’s cheeks and same with Chloe as she hugged all of them one after the other. It was time for them to say their final goodbye to each other because they might all die that day. Chloe squeezed Bree tightly and promised that if she had more time left, she would have loved them to spend it in each other's arms. “Please fight till your last breath,” Chloe said to Bree and she nodded in response. Bree trembled as she wondered why people would act so cruel, what exactly would they gain in seeing innocent people fight for their lives. Her anxiety was the size of a planet as all she could think of was escaping this. She didn't want to do it but overheard the girls saying that anyone who refused to join would be killed at a spot. She closed her eyes and sighed, “Let’s fight,” she murmured. Some moments before the game began, Alpha Lucian came in with his chosen mate and the Queen, Alisha. Alisha froze when she saw Bree and what she held in her hand fell to the floor, “How is she still alive? h…h..how is this even possible?“ she stuttered.CHAPTER FOURThe King’s Birthday 1“Will you like the yellow or blue robe?” one of the Alpha king’s dresser asked.“Just anyone is okay,” Lucian mumbled. It was his birthday but he wasn’t interested in whatever they had prepared for the event. He stretched out his hands and they wore him the robe, the bow was tied. He walked to her and bent beside her, “Is there anything I can help you with?” he asked.Ashiana lifted her shoes, “This,” she murmured.Lucian smiled and took the shoes from her, “Just hold on to m

"We just heard her sneeze, and she was back to life," the maid responded. "We were just discussing on how to do her processions, and also the cremation," the head maid stated. Bree squinted her eyes open one after the other, she held on to her head, it was like the voices she was hearing was sounding in her head. All the maids including Chloe resumed back to their duties immediately, as they all knew that the alpha was deeply sad and angry. He could also take up his anger on them if they weren’t careful enough. Chloe knew Bree couldn't have done what she had been accused of, but she didn't have a say or any evidence that proved Bree didn't have a hand in the death of Lucian's sister. Lucian was still standing there, numb as it occurred to him that; that was his reality. He shut his eyes, breathing heavily as sweat trickled down his face. His eyes were filled to the brim with tears, but he had to control himself outside otherwise, people would find out that he wasn't as strong and mean as he portrayed.
